UWTI disappointing, looking at UWTI last time WTI at 61.50 on 5/12/15, UWTI was over 4, like 4.03, earlier this morning with WTI at 61.5, UWTI could only manage 3.83 or so. Sadly am starting to think my previous predictions may have been too high. Crossing my fingers it fell behind based on lack of volume overnight but we'll see.
Sorry but think it is BS. If O wanted a SOFA, he could have got one. What we wanted and promised to do was a full withdrawal. The proof is in the subsequent speeches he gave where he bragged about pulling all the troops out over and over. I'm done.
Thanks for your service sir! It is such a shame what has happened since O started his "transformation"..... Elections matter everyone!
Ramadi falls to ISIS
Ramadi Falls
Nice! WTI@60.65
Chooo Choooo! Hope everyone go on board!!!
Got some 3.69s
Hey Peasodos,
Nice dwti ride today, you still holding dwti?
Approaching main trend-line tomorrow, looking for a bounce!
Adding at 3.80
Am expecting WTI 70-75 with UWTI at 5.50 to 6.40. I know that might be on the conservative side for some but I'd much rather be surprised to the upside than let down. The chance for a bigger move will come from a couple things IMO, the dollar collapsing a bit, into the mid 80s and/or the middle-east erupting, more so than where it is now. The one thing that lets me sleep well at night, when I own UWTI that is, is the sad fact that it is pretty much a guarantee that the middle east is headed for a large catastrophe/larger war. If that happens this summer, then who knows how high we go.
Yeah, patience is definitely required here, has been a long haul from the winter months to summer drive time, but we're just about there. I've been flipping it so much with dwti, I think I'm becoming bipolar... lol I'm committed to building a position now for Aug time frame. This morning on the dip, I was selling off the dwti from premarket a chunk at a time and buying uwti. I'll be adding more now on each dip.
In as well again, avg at 3.9.
You're right, my bad! Read your WTI as UWTI.... been looking at this screen way too long today.
No, gonna have to disagree... When WTI gaps up when we flip to July next week, just as it did last month, UWTI will not go up 1.35. There won't be any move in UWTI based on flipping to July contract.
Good news, we'll know for sure real soon.
BTW, was very tempted to go in on DWTI just before extended hours closed, thinking there will be some blood before morning.... but wimped out, too risky. Probably play it in premarket.
GLTA!
Understand and maybe has more to do with price of WTI at the time, not sure. I'm just focused on what it is doing now and very recent history. Realistically we only have about $10 more bucks on the upside of WTI, assuming Saudi doesn't get nuked. There isn't that much more room for it to run. A nice return it will be, but firmly believe UWTI isn't going to go up 200, 300...+ percent from here.
I hope I'm wrong but just don't see it right now...I would looove to get surprised and UWTI be $10+ in the next couple months.
It is decay. WTI price remaining flat, UWTI goes to zero over a given amount of time. There are consistent examples of where UWTI fails to reach its previous price when WTI is the same price, and the shortfall increases with time. I think someone actually posted a decay percent based on some past quotes.
And don't get me wrong, I love this ETN, along with dwti, ugaz and dgaz. I had 7 trades today spread over all four of those. There is definitely a great return potential, its just that some of the expectations are over the top.
No, didn't, nor velocity, nor decay, but is simple and based on actual data. It has been accurate for the last $6-7 in movement. Feel pretty good it will be in the ballpark for the next $10 as well. As I said before, we should know soon enough.
You guys must have been drinking early today $14 ?? Not to dampen anyone's spirits but perhaps some reality on the price looking forward. The rows with dates are actuals, those w/out are estimates based on 8.5 cent increase per .5 on WTI. We'll need about $80 WTI before we see $7 UWTI.

Bazingaaa, out of uwti, finger on the darkside trigger
Sweet trade, dumped dwti, now back in uwti
Roger that, just did the same, dumped uwti and back on the dark side.
Yep, think we're going sub 58 today. I'm on the darkside now!!
Yes I think Everyone knows that... BUT yes to your point!!!! There is absolutely no validity in doing TA on UWTI, although should/does basically track w/WTI. The TA should be done on WTI. Support and resistance on UWTI are meaningless except that they generally correlate to those of the underlying security (commodity). The issue is sometimes, moves can be skewed, like a copy of a copy of a copy. Why not just chart the stock/commodity that is driving the price. When I trade UWTI, DWTI, UGAZ, ... I don't even look at the price/chart of them, literally I don't know what my trade got executed at until I start setting stop lose orders, etc. I only watch/chart natural gaz and WTI, the underlying commodity/stock.
That being said, a UWTI chart should, generally, mimic the indicators of a WTI chart, so it works. I would just love to see some of the great TA folks on this board flip to charting WTI.
I was closing out a great UGAZ trade today and have been out of UWTI for several days. Looking for an entry now though. I think the modest "correction" was good and gives us another opportunity to get on the WTI wave through August.
GLTA!!
Yeah, understand but I'm not using percentages, just a range of move from .15 to .19 in UWTI for every buck of WTI. I'm sure there is some play but those ranges are based on WTI moves from 40s to lower 60s. I don't see the range changing that much in the next 8-9 bucks on WTI but we'll see. 5.5 to 6 is probably a good range.
Actually is less, I was being generous... :)
WTI was at 62.50ish today, UWTI was at about 4.27. To 69 is 6.5 bucks. UWTI has been getting max .19 per buck of WTI, even in the quick moves. So
.19 X 6.5 = 1.24
4.27 + 1.24 = 5.51
I understand there is a velocity factor but the .19 UWTI gain per WTI buck (usually it is a little less) is what is happening with the rapid rise we've had lately, as well as past moves.
Not really wanting to argue, as we will see the proof when WTI moves to 69 over the next couple months. If we are around 7, I will surely admit I was wrong, and BTW will be happy to do so as a UWTI holder!
$69 WTI will be approx $5.60 UWTI, mark this post. I do agree we'll get there.
W&T Offshore Inc, symbol WTI, has nothing to do with UWTI (an ETN)... or west Texas intermediate crude oil (WTI) that UWTI tracks.
... other than being in the oil biz
I wish but nooo.. WTI@70 will be about $6 UWTI
You're right on target. I think it is important to set expectations correctly. There have been some $9-$12-$15 numbers floating around which are way to high.
Don't think the math works there. Currently getting about .19 in UWTI per one dollar move in WTI. $10 move in WTI will be about 1.90 in UWTI, say $2....so $10 more in WTI will give us about $6 UWTI price.
Correctamundo!! Only held once overnight. I like to enter SL in immediately after DWTI purchase and then adjust stop up.
Back in DWTI at 61.29
Stopped out of DWTI at 62 for a buck, may be headed back in shortly...
yep, in at 61, w/tight SL
May have to flip the darkside for the afternoon...
It's Libya,
Brent crude oil steadied near $67 a barrel on Tuesday, just below its 2015 high, after protesters shut down the eastern Libyan oil port of Zueitina, hampering exports.
Zueitina was one of the few Libyan ports still exporting oil as many others have closed due to fighting or disruptions at oilfields since the ousting of former dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
Main trend line approaching fast, we're w/in about .5ish, gonna need to bounce or ??? Looks like we're on it in next day or so. Thoughts?
No doubt!! Flipped out of dwti at 58.60 back into uwti. Just in time for this late afternoon bounce, not to mention what the crazies in the middle east might do over the weekend. Feels good to make it back from the dark-side!
Roger, that's what I bet on, 58.50ish then out of DWTI.
