Good to see that E270 is used there but ever better sglb is working with E290 printer which is more cubic space and an upgraded printer! Ready to rock!
I want to hear also about the interactive machine Inc MOU they signed last year saying that they can build proptotype of a 10X faster 3d printer and they would hope to complete the project by 3rd quarter 2014.

Excellent reporting out on the field! Seems printlike takes a week to setup which is a good turnaround from the report "It should be in operation next week with PrintRite3D being installed the following week. Once again...on time." Did he mention anything with materialise?
Same as it took first phase. This is end of next year so not a factor right now
Yes, and it makes sense for them since everything is going from steel to aluminum these days. They are also looking at acquisitions. Seems like everyone is looking for 3d acquisitions these days! I think if one of these bigger 3d companies gets gobbled up it will be an acquisition frenzy. Sigma is the beast under the hood !
Uplist uplist uplist it's what everyone talks about these days... Can we please see revenues first!!!! Uplist will be greater if we shows revs first....
After reading more about Morris tech these guys picked sglb at the beginning when they were a small company. The Morris brothers had faith in sglb and they signed an mou with them, years later after they were bought out by ge Morris and co continue to work with sglb...says a lot. As well, sglb got lucky as a company like ge wouldn't even see these guys on the radar since it's such a small company but they got a foot in the door with Morris tech being bought out. Right place at the right time but mr Morris clearly likes these guys!
They have worked with DARPA and more importantly Los alamos so it's completely possible they work with sigma. As well on their site it says they provide client solutions so sigma could very well be a client with them
very very true! Morris seems like a smart guy that knows how important Quality of a part is especially dealing with aviation - happy to be working with the best! Skies the limit when this baby starts roaring!
from my readings on http://www.darpa.mil/opportunities/sbir_sttr/sbir_program.aspx
Phase 1/2 are offered by Darpa:
Phase 2 must have a commercialization Strategy as stated on their site.
Each Phase II proposal must contain a five-page commercialization
strategy as part of the technical volume describing the proposing firm’s strategy for commercializing
this technology in DoD, other Federal Agencies and/or private sector markets. Provide specific
information on the market need the technology will address and the size of the market.
500k looks like the max darpa can award for phase 2. In the doc though there is a base pay as well up to a mill. Not sure how the breakdown would work.
My impression of deform is parts that are needed fixed or old and can be reinvitalized for service
fuel nozzle is the heart of compulsion! ahhhh love that sentence in that video! Looks great and big 2015 on way!!!
This is big for sglb if all is going well with sglb and materialise which I believe is happening. Hp has great reach of customers to extend further the customer base... Big!! http://www.materialise.com/blog/congratulations-hp-newly-revealed-3d-printer-first-reaction-materialises-ceo/
If mtls CEO is happy I'm happy!! Sglb!!!!
Very good find. These data sheets seem more professional and looks like they are ready to target other companies based on the presentation. Definitely things are coming together! Interesting how on the print rite 3d diagram they have operations and engineers for remote and local. This could make it so that their in house engineers could be paid services to monitor this data for outside companies and shows that engineers don't have to be on site to monitor print rite. Things are looking good! Also adurant integration looks like it's going well!
hahah no worries...but I will nit pick as well :P
A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation. The term "laser" originated as an acronym for "light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation"
But you get my point ;)
From what I can remember with EBM there are 10+ lasers vs sinistering which has 1 per machine to create the AM parts, thus EBM is lightning faster to create a part over sinistering. The problem with EBM though is the resolution and detail for that technology is not as good as sinistering, which would be needed for a fuel nozzle. Maybe blades would require less detail and thus EBM machines might be able to work on those, but I believe the picking of the manufacturer will come down to what part they need printed and what detail they need. Will probably be a mixture of EBM and sinister machines IMO.
They have not. Speculation is on Arcam or DDD but I have said that printers would be announced first before SGLB gets announced IMO
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-10-23/move-over-iphone-cases-here-s-where-no-3-d-printer-has-gone-before.html
SGLB on the way to the moon will be printing probably somewhere in space at a star near you!!
nothing is guaranteed. Just Hope, luck and playing the odds at the table!
Not before it hits $1 !!! Get that margin call going son
If I were to announce I def would at a conference!
Yes I'm from Toronto...very bad day indeed
Agree that I would like a PPS run before we even talk about uplist. Then when uplist is confirmed it runs again before we do a reverse split. That would be ideal!
I think there is huge potential if they do start becoming a manufacturer. If someone can get their parts quicker and more efficiently then SGLB could contract out to anyone interested. By doing this it also validates their printrite software. It could be a game changer and could allow them to expand their printers faster than trying to sell their software initially. I think though whatever has the best profit margin is obviously the way to go, and in this case I'm not sure which has the best profit margin. Sometimes the market makes you move in a certain direction and you just need to go with the flow. This is most likely what it's shaping up to be at SGLB. Lets hope for some revs soon!
Great Volume, closed above 50 day MA and we have PR's coming in the pipe! Exciting times indeed!!
hope it holds past its 50 MDA on the close! Bullish!
awesome!!!!!!!!!!
As well, revenue from selling the machines. I'm sure on top of the part revenue there will be some other sort of royalty revenue that they can work in i.e time spent monitoring the parts, etc
"Upon full installation of the EOS M290 in conjunction with Sigma Labs' platform technologies, the Company will be positioned to execute on any orders received for contract manufacturing of precision parts and for the deployment of new service launches. Collectively, Sigma Labs will deliver on its mission of providing advanced manufacturing technologies to help customers reduce process development times, reduce inspection and part rejection costs, and get parts into production faster."
I think the drop from 10c to 8c shook out a lot of scared investors. Glad to see the swing up from the Longs! SGLB
Yes, these guys have been in the industry for decades so I'm sure they have thought out all the possibilities to market their technology. These are some of the smartest people out of the labs so every step they make is for some purpose. Instead of spending all their money on straight marketing, investing in the machines to showcase their products is the best use of capital. They have said on other occasions that they would become a parts manufacturer. If they can generate revenue from this printer all the capital could be used to buy other machines. The machines will eventually pay for themselves with contracts they get.
Yes, very valid point. Why would GE not want help to create these fuel nozzles since the backlog is so huge. That would be amazing if they could be a parts supplier for GE and other manufacturers.
“We are pleased to begin commercial production of 3D printed parts upon the installation of our new state-of-the-art M290 3D metal printer,” said Mark Cola, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sigma Labs. “Our successful marketing efforts have resulted in the receipt of advance requests for quotes for 3D printed parts. Our customers are already requesting delivery dates in anticipation of M290 machine delivery. This demand recognizes our unique value proposition which brings together the latest in 3D metal printing machinery with our PrintRite3D® technology for high-end, precision metal parts.”
Clearly from their talks with other companies people are even buying into their product before they even have a machine to showcase which is great news. I wonder if these quotes are coming from the medical field or another field, either way this is great. Interesting was " our customers are already requesting delivery dates" meaning some keen investors want to use their technology. Exciting times ahead!
Totally agree. Some insight on other 3d calls I was on onvo call and they were surprised that clients have asked them to do in house testing of their bio products instead of straight buying printers which will generate a lot of revenue as well. Of course hardware sales go down but the services side go up. This is exactly what I see is happening to sglb with them printing parts for their clients. This is actually great because they can generate revenue and eventually expand printers. This is a green shoot if all goes good! And higher profit margins!
Excellent news on a Friday ! The more they show they can create good parts in a timely manner the more contracts they will get. Excellent news to show their capabilities and to be a business that generates revenues along with advancing their own technologies. Seems that it takes. 1 month to install print rite on machines so I would suspect ge would make an announcement on sglb within weeks of them installing their machines at their new plants IMO..
I'll put it like this. There is a reason for the huge GE backlog
a) GE promised fuel efficient planes saving ~1.9 mill a year on gas alone
b) 25% lighter parts then previous models
In order to meet these 2 requirements they have to make 3dprint work because to get this gas efficiency in the fuel nozzle can only be done through printers.
Now that they have signed up these buyers they cant go back and say "uhh ya about taht savings on gas and part weight scrap that..but we got your orders already hahahah" ya that's not a feasible outcome.
They actually have to make this work from the standpoint of their clients.
From GE standpoint if they can reduce making parts from months to weeks they can remove the backlog, hence generating more profit, hence taking more orders in from customers that are weary about their backlog. And this can only happen with good printers and IPQA.
I agree that news can't come fast enough but I think they will mention the machine supplier first before they mention SGLB IMO.
They should start putting printers on the floors soon if they want to start to ramp in 2015 so hopefully something comes out soon after... maybe they are waiting for certification after these airplane trials are done to test the parts?
I don't think "price points" means SGLB. I think it's the price of the whole process of creating these generated pieces from 3d printers. If anything SGLB is helping decrease price points due to less mechanics involved, and QA inspection time decreasing
Back in June they said 9 months for deform and no mention of a setback in sept report. The last report of the quarter should clarify if there is a delay. If no mention then things should be moving along
100 cases where your wrong. If GE believes that sglb are key why would they not want a stake? Although a bad outcome but a recent examples is gtat. Aapl gave them cash to help production for Apple so they gave them a huge loan. Stake would make sense if it's vital to their process so if I was ge why would I not want a stake in a company that will be vital to their operation. I'm sure if companies that spend billions on startups that have NO revenue taking a position on a company that helps you generate revenue by filling orders is very well in the realm of possibilities. As well, would you want a competitor to buy them? Why take the chance. 100bill backlog? 100 billion reasons to lock up sglb
I didn't find anything on this but the only way this scenario would be valid is if GE said we need 100 machines for IPQA and SGLB had to generate cash for these expenses to create the IPQA hardware. That I think is the only legit reason I see why we would raise cash near term, and IMO that is a good reason to raise cash. But until that happens I don't think raising cash atm makes sense
