I like GSS a lot even at these levels. I have been collecting some others as we peal back . My gut is telling me , maybe this week coming will set the stage for a run up . Check the news on NEM, seems their timing was very interesting . I think it could be prudent to position yourself in a way to hold the takeover target ,whichever one that is . As far as BGO goes, it's the wild one in this sector imho , it sets temperment and when its cold, you can see the frost on that one imho . However , the exact opposite works when the sector starts to heat up .
Make some money .
Say CHi chi ,
Thanks for all the posts, it sure great to be able to check out different opinions and ideas. This old market has been tough , however the gold sector seems to be offering some hope as far as being able to trade. Let's all hope this year can be good for all of us .
Thanks again for all your work .
Anyone have any comments about gold stocks // gold ST ?
Thanks for any comments
Chi chi
I don't see NEM at 37.00 this friday or for a while to come. I have watched it basting itself here lately . I would think 41 should be max pain before we start back up to see gold 440 --450 into late Feb / April .
We shall see .

I am planning on taking my time with this trade. Straight accumulation to start with then my larger blocks will only be added on bottom , then as we cross back up . I have had my head handed to me to many times. That being said, all it would take is an incident and this could reverse very quickly. Should be ((GULP)) interesting to see if 400 can hold.

Where do you see support for gold ? I am looking at BGO seems to be acting not so bad . I will start collecting gold stocks now , dont care much for averaging down though . It may sound crazy but I think tommorow will be the teller of the tale going forward for the ST.

I have thought for sometime that the S&P would fall and when it did gold would fall with it , then once the bottom is in , GOLD could trade on its own . The fact that gold has followed the S&P I find very bothersome. With what is currently happening with the dollar and this bounce they are talking about it , when do you see a tradeable bottom coming with gold stocks ?
Thanks for the post 4godnwv, I have been out of gold stocks now for a while. Something I wanted to bring to your attention, as an outsider to the U.S.A. I see the following occurance over the last year or so .
GOLD was trading a year ago or so around 340.00
Can Dollar was 1.58 Can Dollar is now 1.2596 to the U.S.$.
WHen you calculate how much the U.S$ dollar has gone down in comparison to how much gold has gone up ,as an OUTSIDER you would end up NOT being UP by buying gold a year ago , once you figured out the difference with the exchange in the CDN dollar . Therefore , does this mean a lot of the gold stocks are actually 60-70 % ahead of the price of GOLD itself, what is a norm for gold versus the stocks ?
Can anyone tell me the 50dma and 200dma for GOLD ?
Thanks for any comments .
LONGING
I have waited long enough to try and buy some
CNQ PTR SNP , can anyone see a reason to wait ?

QUESTION FOR THE BOARD
What is thought as the ""best"" service for information or actual stocks to go long or short with ?
Thank you for any comments or ideas .
LEHMAN
I think they are a little late to upgrade these duhhhh ??? Wouldn't it have been smarter and more profitable to say this 6-9 months ago , rather than at these ((levels))?

Where do you see gold stocks going ST and what would use as a hedge if you were invested in them . I have been looking at AL , N , PD , but they are at their highs .

thanks for any comments .
Chi Chi (Board) question
What do you think of ABX now going forward ?
Any comments appreciated
Chi CHi
What are your favourite picks in gold stocks . Thanks for any comments, I know some people that were long on NTES , that was somekind of a play . I hope they can come back , the street can sure be tough on some of us .
Chi Chi
I have been playing some select longs , now I am starting to close up some of my longs. Do you agree that we are going to fall off in the short term ? What is your guess as far as when the market will start to roll-over and what will the bottom be. My thinking is late November and a test of Sept's lows.

I have spendt sometime , trying to find an EW share which follows INDIA , do you know of one or can you recomend a something .
Thanks for all your help .

What we spoke about earlier seems it could very well be the case. I just read , templeton's comment and I also see the cdn dollar went up against the U.S.$ again today. After further research , I am leaning more and more towards my original concept . I also think INDIA could be worth a serious look at this time ?
Sorry Chi chi
Just got off the beach, beautiful night out tonight I must say . Hard to beat that nice clean ocean air , I reside in Canada (west coast). I hold mostly u.s.$ to trade with , however I am now leaning towards Canada material stocks, I think they could be a good barometer.
Take care .

Thanks for your reply, I am in Hawaii right now, looking out the 12th floor of a high rise. I have been here now for a couple of weeks . Weather is great, I have been checking out the local businesses , seems the people I talk to so far are saying , things are slowly picking up . Meanwhile, I appreciate your last post , great information. Don't forget anyone trying to get in and out of a currency has a real hard time trading it , due to the banks charges. Therefore, for someone , who wants to hold u.s.$ long term , these vehicles are a great way to go. I have heard the euro will go to 134 prior to the u.s.$ turning around .
CHi CHi RE::(currency , u.s. stocks , biggest gains)
I think there is more to this currency situation than meets the eye . I remember when I was long the market and the u.s. $ was rising , by the time I was through playing the market I made an additional 30% in the rise of the currency along with the large gain from going long . Now , from my side of the desk, I see the opposite in ""holding"" u.s. equities, that is , the real gain from what I can see is going to be made outside the u.s.. My bigger concern is , do these ETF hold the currency of the countries ? Take a look at EWC EWJ EWT , why are they heading up in a day when the dow is faltering or better yet, why are they going up on a day that the U.S.$ is loosing ground of 1% ? We are trying to pool our ideas on this board, I think focusing our investment ideas in this area will allow for a fastest and greatest gain over the short term. Therefore, should anyone have any ideas of thoughts on this approach to investing please post your ideas.
Say chi chi
I have been reading your board , however there is something you are not looking at . It's the U.S.$ , look at what it has done over the last week . If you are outside of the U.S. you could have lost a min of 1% just by holding U.S.$ thats just Fridays action , compound the fact that most of the u.s. stocks went down on Friday, I dont agree with your earlier statement that Friday wasn't all that bad. I am looking somehow to hedge that action, so far all I have come up with is EWJ EWH EWC , do you have any comments on that strategy going forward, while waiting to get the u.s. $ to finally bottom, cause from this side of the water , it looks like it's in a free fall ?
