Loving these cool Fall like Temps..
LOLOLOL
A Great Tip for a puppy teething, roll up a few wet washcloths. Place them in the freezer. Give one at a time.
Charlie is loving this as his teeth are really bothering him now.
Charlie is in the kiss you bite your face off mode...
Or the usual bone also works.... but Puppy's need variety, so they don't get board...
Just loved those days. We went up to Minocqua..there are like 5 lakes all chained together..
Charlie from about a week ago, notice what happens at 10 seconds...
As a young teen we use to go up north for the whole summer. I would get up early, take off in the boat and fish all day.. [:>))
I figured that Andy... I'm not that Blond, well maybe grey, but not Blond.....LOL...
Just whip Eddie an email to Russia, I'm sure he will confirm that...
Our Little 17 week old Charlie.
Every Monday we go to an outdoor Grill called Freddie's Friki Tiki, right at our city's Harbor. There is also an indoor eatery, and a Raddison Hotel attached also.
Our City of Racine, Wisconsin is the Birth Place of Case IH Tractors and the Johnson Wax Family.
Freddie's allows dogs 7 day's a week. Monday's are called Doggie Happy Hour, and almost every table has more than 1 dog at it. It such a fun time for all.
The Raddison hosts many business people from all over the world, and it's a great time meeting them.
Yesterday we met this man from Canada, he comes to our city 3-4 times a year for meetings, and stays a week at the Raddison.
Charlie and Stephane hit it off right away, and we will be meeting Stephane this Wednesday at Freddie's. I will bring 1 or 2 of our Whippets, Charlie, and 1 of our Italian Greyhounds for Stephane to meet, so he can see the varieties of pup's in our home.... {:>))
No Flo, that's the NSA's job...
Bait fish... LOL,,,,, but I guess in your neck of the woods Andy, the fish they catch are 50 lb +...
There ya go Flo, expect a Q-tip in the mail soon...
I heard that ....
That's a Whopper Trax...
That's so sad...
Thanks again. Here is a good, simple vid on worms and pets...
I gave Charlie a Drontal a few days after getting him. The previous owner/breeder said he had been wormed, but with the condition I saw his mother in, I took his statements as not being too factual.
2 weeks after I gave him the Drontal, the vet said to just give him a reg Heartworm pill that she gave me. I had brought a stool sample to the vet, but since he had the Drontal I had given him a week before, she did not want the sample at that time. I am just thinking that the fact that the breeder told me he was feeding the puppy's " Crap dog Food ", that has to be a factor as Charlie being a bit behind in where his height and weight should be for 17 week old pup... Thanks...{:>))
I do have a concern. We went to a Dog show today in Wisconsin, they had a Fun Weimi Puppy Show.
The Pups were the same age as Chaclie, yet Charlie is 25-30 smaller than they are at 17 weeks old. A few Breeders expressed concern over his weight. As I have been concerned also. Charlie is 17 weeks old today and weights 23 lbs.
The last time I weighed Charlie was a week ago, and he has gained " 1 " lb. He has been Vetted, and all seem good..
He eats 3 X's a day, yet everytime I feed him it's like ist's been a week since his last meal.
I give aprox 1/3 of a cereal bowl of kibble, then 2 Huge scops of Blue Buffale Puppy Caned, mixed with Cottage Cheese.
Maybe Charkie will be the Runt, if so that is just fine.... ??? ...{:>)))
Yes Janice, the baby blues are fadding, and they are now more like a soft blue green mix. Next they will turn to an light yellow, amber, hazle type of tone. Weimaraners have the most interesting eyes... {:>)))
Orin has a New lap dog....
The Best way to describe this is : Jacki Mama is back...
Charlie looks so much like Jacki. For the first time today, both Italians, and Chance ( the Dad Whippet ) were in my Bay Window, along with Charlie... This has never happened before.
This is a Photo I caught of Charlie with his head resting on Little Max. It broke me to tears to see this bond now happening... My Bay Window is now coming back to life.... It's just Magic, just Magic... {:>)))
Charlie is now 16 weeks old.
Charlie " Ain't " No Dummy !!!!
Little Max is just fine. It's our new little Monster Charlie. He keeps me sooooo busy... However, Charlie is so wanting and needy to learn, which is typical for the Weimaraner Breed.
It's not hug me, kiss me attention, Charlie looks at me and is like, " let's go Dad, what ya going to teach me today "
We are now in the Kiss, then Bite phase, and trust me, I am working on that with those little Sharks Teeth. Over all, Charlie is an extremely well behavied Puppy...
Yesterday at Freddie's. Orin Relaxing with Breezy Girl.
Then our friend Lesli getting a kiss, then an almost bite from Charlie.
Now me. I just got attacked. Errrrrrrrrrrr..
Then Little Dude Relaxed and fell asleep in my lap.. but taking this Pic woke him up a bit...{:>))
Then I put Charlie in a chair of his own, and he did fall asleep... {:>))
I heard that, but for the first time we did not open it this year ..{:>(((
Laughing "your" ass off Flo... Hell it was my ASS that got bit....{:>))
Bite My Ass...........
A Moment in my life from a few day's ago.............
I was in my bedroom watching CNN New's , laying on my left side. I have been up since 6 am, but go to my bedrrom often to check out TV.
Chance, the Dad Whippet, and Charlie were behind me.
I am wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt.............
Well all of a sudden Charlie BIT me in the ASS.
It was like 4 Hypodermic Needles, the Canine teeth being shot into me all at one.
and yes..... I screamed like a girl, as I almost fell off the bed...
Love it, just Love it..... but no more of that, if I can help it.
Charlie was in a super Happy play mode that morning, and biting is a part of it.
Normally when he does this, I tap his nose and say, " Kisses Charlie, Kisses, then I get Kisses "
However, this time I was Ambushed from behind, literally Behind..... {:>)))
This must have been the look on Charlies face, right before the Attack........
yes Jackis were a hazle/yellow/gold tone. Then in different types of lighting the shades will change...
that's the first thing people notice are the eyes. I would be so lucky if they stayed that color. I also think it is really cool when you see a dog with 1 blue eye... {:>)))
Had little Man Charlie Vetted today. We are good to go.
The Vet suggested doing what I do everyday. Take him out, around people, children, and other animals. Get him use to this world while he is still young.
We were at the dog park today for 2 1/2 hrs. Charlie spent most of his time around me. Whatching people and other dogs, he ran around a bit, but not that much. 1 week ago, Charlie was quite scared of others, people or dogs, he just stuck to me like glue...
Everyday is going to be another venture.
Charlie is now 13 weeks old and 20 lbs. However 9 days ago he was 14 lbs and he should heve been 20 lbs by then. We are making up the difference with Love, food, exercize, and then more Love...
No more feeding once a day, that's was Charlies past as a Puppy was about. He now eats 3-4 times a day, smaller amounts though, but now he is in good hands with us. It took the Whippets about 5 day's to allow him to get close to them, but now we are over that transition.... {:>)))
Mr. Blue eyes.............. This was at the end of our Dog Park venture for the day... Charlie was sooooo tired, as I can see in his eyes....
Everyday changes occure. One of the new things are, when I head to my computer room, Charlie races me, to get into my chair, before I do...... Charlie is stuck to my side 24/7... and that is so typical for the Weimaraner Breed. If anyone ever wants a dog that is 110 % devoted to it's owner. It's the Weimi's.....
OMG, those ears are just packed with Ticks... and the belly is full of worms...{:>((.. That's life in the streets for a dog..
It like with the Shar Pei Breed, many of them need eyelid surgery bacause all of that excess skin causes the eye lashes to curve into the eyes..
yes, inverted eyelid are quite common on Breeds that have very wrinkly faces... Charlie is now 13 weeks old..{:>))
Thanks. Great info, and I kept the post...
I gave the Distemper/Parvo shot myself a week ago. His first rabies is not recomended uptil 5-6 months old. I will give a second Distemper/Parvo after 2 weeks from the first one I gave.. I also wormed him myself..even thought the guy said he had 1 round of worming Med's, and had had his first 7 in 1 Distemper. I relly don't trust anything he told me..
Lesli has a 130lb Great Dane.... {:>))
Met a friend at the Doggie park yesterday. Charlie is now 13 weeks old. I can tell he is getting taller, he is all legs.
God help me when he becomes 70-100 lbs, because his Mom is a very tall Weimi....
It was her first time meeting Charlie. Lesli is her name, and she fell in Love with Charlie, and Charlie gave the Love right back to her, plus Charlie tried many times to pull her hair out. Oh the Joys of being a Woman, and holding a puppy.... LOL.
We were there for 2 hours, and Charlie spent 95% of the time sleeping on top of a Picnic Bench, but that's okay, he's a Puppy. It was hot out, but we were in the shade all of the time.....
Charlie is gaining about 1/2 a pound a day. He eats at least every 6 hrs vs. the one time a day he ate at his abusive home. His ribs are no longer as visible as they were 1 week ago. Today is 1 week that he has joined our Pack. All of the Whippet's have now come to accept Charlie, except our white Whippet, Turner. Turner is the son of Chance and Breezy. Turner was the Baby in the home until Charlie arrived. Outside in the fenced in area of our home, Turner will chase Charlie, then Charlie will turn around and chase Turner, and turner becomes scared to death, and runs up to the Deck to hide.... LOLOLOLOL
Life does not get any better than this.....................
I called the Toledo ASPCA twice now. The last time was friday. No one answers the phone, you just leave a message. I am not too fond of that type of system. On Friday, I told them I wanted a call back..
The sad part about little Charlie is when he eats, he act's like it is going to be his last meal. The Idiot's that Bread his parents only fed him once a day, and they told me straight out, the dog food thy use is CRAP. Charlie is also very protective of his food. I have to work on that Big Time.
Every dog I have ever had, I trained to not protect their food. I put my face right down to their bowl, and push them away from it. This morning when I gave Charlie one of his meals. I got down on the floor, Charlie froze, I knew he was ready to go into attack mode, but sorry, that ain't happening in this home....
To this day, with all of our Adult dog's, from time to time, I do the same to them, just so in the future, if a child were here, and I was not watching a dog play with a toy for example, dog's can be protective of their toy's, or treats. All of my current Adult dog's I would never worry about, but I think Charlie still remember his past home, and maybe how he had to fight for the last piece of Kibble. Other than that issue, Charlie is a perfect little guy. He sit's before I give him his bowl, now today, he sit's and gives me his paw. He has learned many basic other commands in the past foew days. I am pleased with his progress, but this food aggression issue, I have to nip that in the butt right away..
