I think we all have the same feeling about this.
You're not alone :)
Articles mentions grid parity, profits but no Solar Panels having to do with quantum dots. Either journalist who wrote article is as dumb as that other article with the oil guy.
I think the us is far behind. We might still be a few years away.
Hope I'm terribly wrong.

(PhysOrg.com) -- It typically takes a day or two to prepare quantum dot solar cells in the conventional multifilm architecture. Now a team of researchers is reducing the preparation time of quantum dot solar cells to less than an hour by changing the form to a one-coat quantum dot solar paint. Although the paint form is currently about five times less efficient than the highest recorded efficiency for the multifilm form, the researchers predict that the efficiency can be improved, which could lead to a simple and economically viable way to prepare solar cells.

The researchers, Mathew P. Genovese of the University of Waterloo in Canada, with Ian V. Lightcap and Prashant V. Kamat of the Radiation Laboratory and Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, will be publishing their study in an upcoming issue of ACS Nano.
The new solar paint, which the researchers humorously call “Sun Believable solar paint,” consists of a yellow or brown paste made of quantum dots. The small size of these tiny semiconductor nanocrystals makes it possible to capture nearly all incident visible sunlight with an extremely thin layer of dots. The researchers experimented with three types of quantum dots: CdS, CdSe, and TiO2, all of which are powder-like, with water and tert butanol as the solvent. As Kamat explained, all commercial paints are TiO2 nanoparticle-based suspensions. But instead of adding dye to give the paint a desired color, here the researchers added colored semiconductor nanocrystals to the solar paint to achieve the desired optical and electronic properties.
“Quantum dots are semiconductor nanocrystals which exhibit size-dependent optical and electronic properties,” Kamat told PhysOrg.com. “In a quantum dot sensitized solar cell, the excitation of semiconductor quantum dot or semiconductor nanocrystal is followed by electron injection into TiO2 nanoparticles. These electrons are then transferred to the collecting electrode surface to generate photocurrent. The holes that remain in the semiconductor quantum dot are removed by a hole conductor or redox couple and are transported to a counter electrode.”
As Kamat explains, solar paint has advantages in simplicity, economics, and stability compared to multifilm solar cell architectures. While preparing a quantum dot film as a solar cell usually requires multiple time-intensive steps, solar cells in paint form can simply be brushed on to a surface in one step.

“If we can optimize the paint preparation, it should be possible for anyone to open a bottle (or a can in the long run) and apply it to a conducting surface,” he said. “This will decrease the variability between lab to lab or person to person as one encounters in a multi-step process. Having fewer fabrication steps and ambient preparative conditions should provide an economically viable transformative technology.”
The researchers experimented with several different combinations and ratios of the quantum dots to make different paint mixtures. They found that a composite of mixed CdS/TiO2 and CdSe/TiO2 nanoparticles achieve the best performance, particularly when the CdS and CdSe are deposited directly on the TiO2 nanoparticles as a coating. When coated on a glass electrode, the paint has an overall power conversion efficiency exceeding 1%. Although some multifilm quantum dot solar cells have efficiencies greater than 5%, the researchers think that using different quantum dots and further optimization could significantly increase the efficiency of the paint.
“Careful control of particle size and better electron transport through TiO2 network should enable us to maximize the efficiency,” Kamat said. “We will also extend the absorption range to near IR by using semiconductors such as PbS and PbSe. Our short term goal is to attain efficiencies greater than 5%, comparable with other semiconductor nanocrystal-based solar cells.”
The new solar paint is the first step toward developing a solar technology that could potentially have wide-ranging applications. Some uses could include painting electronic devices such as cell phones and computers, in addition to rooftops, windows, and cars. Large-scale applications could be used to build solar farms in deserts.
“The goal is to prepare a solar paint that has long shelf life,” Kamat said. “In our laboratories we have tested the performance for a few days to a week, and we find it stable as long as it is stored in the dark. Additional tests are underway to investigate long-term stability of paints with different compositions.”
In order to develop a commercial product, the researchers still have to work on two other components of the solar cell paint.
“The solar paint developed in this study is only one component of the solar cell,” Kamat said. “The other two components that need further development are a hole conducting layer and a counter electrode network. We will continue the theme of simplicity and versatility to develop these other two remaining steps. The present study is the first step in developing a transformative technology for solar cells.”

Great post on their website! Didn't expect such great news closely to the end of 2011.
The team at qmc have been working very hard and I wish them
All the success deserved for bringing this to life.
Can't wait to see what unfolds in 2012.
Merry Christmas, happy holidays and nothing but the best to everyone in the new year!

Israel’s Geothermal Giant Ormat Signs Deal For Solar In California
It already has an international presence, but Israel’s Ormat Industries (NYSE: ORA) just made its global presence a little brighter: On December 21, Ormat’s US subsidiary Ormat Technologies announced that it will be developing its very first 10 megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) farm near one of its geothermal plants in California. Ormat is an internationally recognized geothermal company but has already signed a 20-year power purchase agreement for its newest solar plant with the local community-owned utility Imperial Irrigation District.
“While Ormat’s roots in solar energy go back more than 40 years, we have recently reinitiated our development efforts in solar projects as a way to expand our renewable energy portfolio,” said Ormat Technologies President and COO Yoram Bronicki in a statement.
“Developing projects in a cost-effective way and with an acceptable tariff, without the strong dependence on tax incentives, is vital for us to further expand our solar activity in a meaningful way.”
The announcement comes at the same time as other global energy leaders are announcing solar shutdowns. On December 21, BP Solar announced it was shutting down its global solar operations because costs were simply too high for the business to be viable.
But for Ormat, which will not actually be manufacturing the panels but only managing the solar site, the venture may prove profitable. In addition, Bronicki added, the company’s strong presence in the region will allow the company to use existing infrastrucure for the solar plant.
“As the project is being built near the Heber geothermal complex area, it allows for reliance upon a portion of the existing infrastructure, such as the operation facilities,” he said.
Ormat’s venture into the solar sector may not be limited to the US California project. Bronicki said Ormat will be developing an additional 10-15 megawatts of solar PV power globally in the coming years.
The CA plant is expected to begin operating within 18 months with an annual production of 24,500 megawatt-hours of energy production.
A sign of life, webinar , stockholder letter.
Anything at this point.
This almost seems too good to be true....
If it does explode, maybe the Maldives would be a nice place to sip champagne!

I don't want to come across on here as a troll or a flammer. I usually invest and hold. This stock has just got me perplexed....
Nothing personal, obviously I wish this company success.
Let's see what 2012 has in Reserve for the shareholders.
Glta
Yes that's when qmc dots come into play.
How is it superior? Please explain.
Sounds like fortune telling to me
How do we know 100% that they have the patents?
If they would have something to brag about I'm sure they would. I hope I'm terribly wrong.
Actually if you look at it this way.. if they don't file soon in three months it will be like we haven't heard from company"s financials in a year.
3 filings late. Last one was for period dec 30 to march 2011.
Every three moths filings should be out. They released one in September and then the last one in october that was up to march 31 2011. And that one had lots of negatives and zeros.
It this going to be miracle on 4th street, I sure hope so.
This was April 1 st 2011' this is the type of news we desperately need. See below. Nice to have intentions, but don't we wish we all knew what's going on in qtmm"s lab?
Nanoco Group plc (AIM: NANO), a world leader in the development and manufacture of cadmium-free quantum dots, announces that it has successfully produced the 1kg batch of red cadmium-free quantum dots (CFQD(TM)) specified by a major Japanese corporation, which triggers a US$2 million payment to Nanoco by the corporation.
The production of cadmium-free quantum dots on this scale is a major technical achievement, which underlines the scalability of Nanoco's patent-protected technology and the expertise of its production and technical teams.
The 1kg of red CFQD(TM) was manufactured to specification at Nanoco's recently commissioned production facility in Runcorn, Cheshire.
We have this program too in north America. With their debt and prospective growth they are prob not suited for a dragon dens tv show.... Too big a risk and too big aninvestment for the show. They need a bank, general electric scale of company to bring them to the forefront with with they have to offer. They might not need any marketing really if they are aiming to be an industrial company. They won't be selling dots at your local 7/11, so they might not care for marketing. Worst case scenario is they need some major funds to build a proper facility or to sustain/develop their dots. Best case scenario they are in production phase and selling dots or something.
Do we really know what they are selling,? What direction are they going?
Whatever the outcome it's going to be memorable, good or bad.
Bottom line is this can be the best investment ever or the worst.
I can afford the risk to hold for the possible returns.
Is this alive and kicking that's we need to know. We don't give a $~#% about some random nanotech or solar news other tan what ce have invested in. Enough pep talk, is someone playing us or is this going to happen. Yes good things take time, but the pace this company is releasing news or events is not very attractive ATM.
Glta
Yes Denise, I wish an abundance of surges also.
Glta
I hope you are all right!
If it's the case, A very expensive bottle of will be required.
Glta
I will love you if your right :)
It's understood that a startup usually reports losses the first two years or three years. What happens beyond that is investors question. I can't put a cent more In this unless there financials show other things than zeros and negatives. I'm sure that's the reason there's no buzz about this stock. Great idea, great tech but will it make it to the shelves is what investors really care about. Imo glta
A heads up would be nice at this stage.
I wish what they are selling was as easy as selling potatoes.
Yes it is a wonder in the making, keeps us wondering what the heck is going on!
Something big to be announced someone just bought 250 stocks!
Hmmm makes you wonder.
That would be one hell of a present!
Hiyas,
Is ,15cents our lucky number or what?
Maybe the 15th of this month we will get news!
Glta!
Crunch,
We all sound like a broken record....
This company shows 0 assets. 0 Revenues. tons of liabilities.
Goodwill and personal deep pockets can only sustain a business for so long.
We need good buzz news.
This must be the stock with the lowest activity I have seen. I think I got caught in the goodwill of the people on this board. Yes the huge potential. But its enough of others making big news left right and center. Yes there are alliances but with small startups companies... not enough to make real news.
Problem is maybe they released this too soon to be a stock, many companies do so... And from my own experience, its alot easier to run a company off the stock market than on... No regulations no filings no investors to account to.... Benefits is initial IPO
but if that runs dry....
I'm in it for long, I have time to use as leverage.
Sorry for the vents, but im sure as investors we've been left in the dark long enough. Time for some light.
GLTA.
Look who's making news again!
Let's hope there's no bears waiting for the little fishes upstream.
We will have a better knowledge of what's going on next 10q.
Glta
I saw one in the toy r us Xmas catalogue.
Kidding aside I think it's a fairly complex piece of equipment to build. A house can be built in 2-3 months so that's my guess.
Would be awesome if they can show some form of revenue between April and now. That would create some good buzz and investors confidence. Until now sadly this is all fortune telling. Yes we all know this is a disruptive tech, what we need to know if did is gonna make it on the shelves. Unless I'm not aware of stuff you cannot disclose on this board please pm me.
You think a 10q will be released before the year end?
The one they just filed is for april that's like for over 6 months ago.
