A number of facts about China:
http://www.chinaonline.com/china_facts/frame_chinafacts.asp
There is some news on the upcoming WTO talks regarding China. It can be found here: www.wto.org/english/news_e/meets.doc The accession of China into the WTO.
ML just lowered ratings on the 4 main Chinese internet players. Their opinion suggests a very tough environment for profit in the China market-for internet addvertisers such as SINA and SOHU. We finally are getting a reality check on companies with no profits in the China market.
If anyone would like to keep abreast of the China homefront and up to date articles. Click on chinaonline.com This site has articles from some very sharp writers. WTO news should start appearing in the last week of Jan01. It will be interesting to see how we fair after China is back in the news.
Looks like relationship between mainland China and Taiwan is being mended. This should help speed WTO entrance by China.
China officials just announced the opening of China's doors to all foreign accounting and insurance firms. These acts to help China bring their standards for each economic sector up to WTO standards. Looks to be a very interesting next few months for the shareholders of Chinese companies.
China reduces phone charges in effort to stimulate internet usage. The beginning my friends.
Yes! Good luck on your fax to Unigel manager.
A Chinese official came out yesterday with a timetable on WTO-China schedual. He said by 26Jan01 all should be clear for approval and then 2 months more for China congress to complete the signing.
Most everyone of the Chinese stocks involved in the telecom/internet services are continuing to slide. They are finally getting near their true value and may be ripe for an uptrend, if they can survive these next 3 months.
Till next year-have a nice warm festive time. Chief.
If anyone has an interest in Level2 charts and figures. This site is free with delayed figures:

I want to thank the person who sent me the Unigel fax number. The number is 755-669-4627.
Ian Hetchell is the plant manager and also a director of GCC (GCHC).
Some questions that he may answer are: Where is this company Greater China Corp (GCC) headed after the sale of Unigel. Have there been any insider trades (sales or buys) in the past year. Is the share buyback plan still on the agenda. If Unigel plant is sold, where will he (Ian) relocate. Why no press release regarding Wire2000 Fair that took place in Nov00. What were the gross and net sales figures from Unigel in the last 9 months. Who are the current directors and their phone/fax or e-mail addresses.
I will post the responses I received once I see interest from other investors. Hope you all take the time to make contact.
Unigel is the number 1 supplier of fiber optic gel in China. Why doesn't the company report this fact is beyond me. I asked a director why this information is not being reported. His comment: We don't care what the share is now but what it will be down the road. His confidence in where company is headed reduced some of my frustrations but still find their IR very odd.
Company will be posting pictures of the Unigel booth that they attended in Nov00. No telling when this will occur since everything in China takes "forever'. Progress is being made despite the "red' tape.
It was nice to read that ATT was allowed to be the first foreign company to get accepted as a player in the China telecom sector. Took them 8 years of negotiating. I can understand the frustration that GCHC has been going through for the past year. The US and foreign investment community was thrown a curve last year through China's restrictions on ownership. This after all the monies foreign companies spent in China thinking the market was free. China played hardball and now looks like it paid off by getting WTO acceptance. Our share price keeps dropping and I think this is good for us LT investors. IMHO
Domain name registration has just concluded in China. Of the 800,000 names entered only 42,000 were accepted while 748,000 were rejected. Reasons for rejections-duplicitiy and not following simple instructions. Sounds like the FL election debacle.
Just like to pass along a fact that might make a few investors happy or at least hold some hope for the future. Go to the NEW Unigel.com site and see a picture of OUR plant. There are many other warehouses besides this faclity for storage and shipping purposes.
The latest wire show that concluded in the latter part of Nov was a great success. More to come as our future evolves. Pleasant dreams to the naysayers. And of course there is no proof that GCHC owns 60% of SUTCO/Unigel. Not my position to have to prove anything-just in case the same pest read this post.
Early morning selling and then a few smart people gobbled up the shares. I like the action and hope the new buyers get rewarded. New blood always invigorates. Rest of market keeps going the wrong way. Lessons to be learned by those who have never tasted defeat.
I find the China related stocks still heading south. Msg boards on Yahoo are questioning when the turn around will begin for their favorite China issues. Looks like investing will be limited to the dow dogs and companies with manageable debt. The joy ride is over and the daytraders seem to have vanished.
Compaq is setting up B2B platforms in Greater China area. It will be interesting to see how their systems are accepted and if they can become profitable.
There has been no news coming from GCHC either from UK or NY. The rest of the Chinese related stocks are holding at new lows. Will be interesting after the holidays as to where we are headed.
An added note that would show a touch of class. Send John Allen a Thanksgiving note-keep it simple and you may be surprised by a response. I know from our talks that he is more frustrated than us regarding the snail pace of this company's progress. Remeber-good out- good in.
Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate a bountiful harvest. We have not received our bounty from GCHC, as of yet but maybe next year. We can still take pleasure in the 3 F's that can never be replaced. Friends, family and food. This electronic medium can't hold a candle to the interaction of the emotions generated by the 3 F's. So to all-have a very nice Thanksgiving.
The Unigel.com site once again is back. I'm not certain but I think the last paragraph has changed to some degree. There were a few block buyers today but no price jump. Maybe MM's are getting rid of inventory. Glad to see they haven't been alerted on GCHC's business plans. Puts them in the same field as us investors.
To add to this article. Anyone see the interviews on CNBC regarding this same subject. Watch the GLW's take-off tomorrow. GLW-Corning fiber optic cable producers.
If anyone is interested in an article about fiber optics, check this site out:
http://www.zdnet.com/intweek/stories/news/0,4164,2646159,00.html
If we could only convey this message to the guys in charge, in the UK/China, we might see this GCHC stock go crazy. I sent them the article but do not know if it will have any impact. GCHC still lacks the funding to take advantage of this shortage in fiber optic cable. Maybe the sale of Unigel, if it takes place, will supply the cash. Let us hope.
A report out today on the projected growth rate of fiber optics and related products sales, has hurt many high flyers in this field. The projections for the coming years are 42% next year to 19% the following year. This off of a 68% growth this past year. The market is starting to see a change in direction and hopefully GCHC's management is watching this trend.
This article may interest investors, even though not directly relating to GCHC.

TL-Yes there is hope or I would not spend time posting. John understands how frustrating it has been for us investors. I've made it clear, on a weekly basis, that investors need information and on a regular basis. He understands this but has had a very difficult time getting this across to the CEO/VP and manager in the UK. John is the COB not the CEO. He suggests but cannot make the final decision. This scene will hopefully change after the SEC filings are released. The filings will be released-but not until Hein.LLP gets the funding. The funding will come when this "deal" in China is completed. No firm date has been set for this "deal" and the "deal" may not succeed. These are my opinions not stone cold facts.
Some companies, such as ZSUN, come out with a press release every week-it seems. Shareprice held for a while but ZSUN shares are now trading at an all time lows. Other companies put out pr on a qtrly basis, some only thru 10Q's & 10K's. This company, with the present management team, never puts out pr. Even on important events, like CFO leaving or closing of UK plant. But UK guys, apparently, only want positive pr-so that is where we stand. I hope this helps. I'm not the answering machine for GCHC, all I can do is relate my opinion based on my DD.
Bottom line: Insiders own the bulk of the OS. If you were in their position, does this low share price make monetary sense? How will they benefit from their holdings? I don't think they are stupid, just unorthadox.
Glad to answer your one and last question. John is a friend and we talk on a regular basis about all subjects. Sometimes these talks include our longtime investment in this company.
I keep reading where Mr Yip says Chinadot.com has $500 million in cash reserves. Nothing against Mr Yip but I am being told these figures are based on asset value not real cash reserves. Share price is now closer to realistic true value. I mention CHINA because they offered to buy GCHC at one time and offer was rebuked.
Apparently the hontonet.com is the website for domain registration in China. Located in city of Shenzhen. Will have to find out why Unigel.com no longer works.
Checking on the domain name Unigel.com. It is now under Hontonet.com with same address as the forementioned. Greaterchinacorp still the same.
Still no translation on hontonet.com site.
I don't erase facts. Thanks for your info. I'll try and post what hontonet.com relates too.
I have just sent out for a translation of this hontonet.com site. Will post my findings as soon as I get a response.
If anyone reading this post that speaks Chinese. Could you kindly translate the following website. Unigel no longer can be retrieved, instead the site transfers to a Chinese website called hontonet.com It would be nice to find out what this Chinese site relates too.
Passage of internet laws in China is described in this article. I guess the Chinese see what a mess our internet has been when allowed total freedom.

Another interesting article on investing in China internets:

I sent a copy to GCHC just in case they have plans for portal investments.
China to streamline domain naming: http://asia.internet.com/2000/10/1023-COL.html
Starting to gel for WTO entry and hopefully our company has it's sights aimed correctly.
The SEC disclosure law takes affect tomorrow. Notice how they still give the brokerage houses and MM's the edge-"Disclosure to public must come within 24 hrs of private disclosure". Would any investor like to have a 24 hr advance notice on a merger or a BK? Got to love the lawmakers. ALWAYS thinking of us investors or citizens.
The WTO agreement spelled out for those interested:

The shorts must be having a field day with this market. Think of all the putts players who have made a killing. I see a bright side to this market. All this money will have to go somewhere-come on GCHC-give us some news!
