Meridian Gold Inc.'s (MDG) board is recommending that shareholders reject the amended takeover offer by Yamana Gold Inc. (AUY).
The Reno, Nev. mining company said the higher offer "still falls short." It noted that the 85-Canadian-cent increase in the cash portion of the offer represents only a 2.9% increase in the total consideration.
It said it has opinions from its financial advisers, BMO Capital Markets and Goldman, Sachs & Co., to the effect that the consideration offered under the amended Yamana offer was inadequate, from a financial point of view, to Meridian Gold shareholders.
As reported, Yamana is offering 2.235 shares plus C$4 for each Meridian share.

just today? what hours ? etc
when is Happy hour?
Crown has only been open 3-4 weeks. Stock price drop had nothing to do with earnings. It was due to Hedge funds needing to liquidate holdings to satisfy panicked investors pulling out. Fed dropped rate 50 basis points and we have seen the bottom. Will only go up from here-IMO

Do I have to do all the DD for you D-macks? you better start over with your research because its obvious you don't retain all the info that was publicly put out by Giles. But seeing how you dumped your shares twice for losses, it's no wonder
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.asp?message_id=21963696
BTW-stock price is unchanged
Got the same response from Andy on the phone regarding permits about the same timeframe as you but I'm sure he didn't tell you about the tank farm I observed? Or the Tanker trucks? he wouldn't have known. If you're looking for a "plant", good luck. Think basketball court!

OT-enough about this one, Anybody in MPEL OR have an interest in the AUY/MDG gold merger?
I dont want this post to sound antagonistic but please dont put words in my mouth-"but yet you visited them in person and they gave you the path to the pot of gold"?
read my post again-I did not say I visited them in person. I stated that I made a trip to Mass and got the answers I needed to make a decision. I was either going to dump my shares or buy more depending on what I found out. I bought more-
For the record-I did NOT speak with anyone from Amelot either on the phone or in person-didn't have too. Several others were more than happy to give me info (some is a matter of public record).
I undertand your frustration with the PR's and I was too. That is why I made this trip. You seem to want to base your decisions on this stock from amateurs posting on this board and slow announcements coming from Giles and Co. I don't buy a stock because some guy in a chat room says they like a stock.
I found out why Nashua was scrapped. I know why there was delay in Mattapoisett. I confirmed EVERY PR released since they announced they were looking to Mattapoisett. And I observed things that were not in the PR's. All their ducks are in a row and I can say with conviction that this is gonna happen soon. If you had made the trip with me, we would have had a steak dinner and celebrated.
Respectfully,
Jimstr
You're on your own!
I just took 15 minutes preparing a post sharing the wealth of news I've uncovered over the last 2 weeks regarding AMHD after I visted New York and Mass (only to replace it with this post instead). I spent over $1000.00 in travel expenses.
On Saturday 11th I posted that I would be buying more shares on Monday 13th. I bought my shares yesterday and would have shared with you all my findings but am miffed by some of the posters on this board.
You want to bash the stock, go ahead
You want to sell your stock, even better
but you will not benefit from my findings.
My last post
Jimstr
PS-dont care what you think-I'm just another owner of this stock that did more DD than you. I was either going to dump and take a loss or spend some money in travel and get the answers I needed to make a decision!

Yamana Gold Inc. (AUY) boosted the cash portion of its hostile-takeover bid for Meridian Gold Inc. (MDG) by 27%, two weeks after Meridian rejected the prior C$3.35 billion offer.
The company now if offering C$4 ($3.80) and 2.235 Yamana shares per Meridian share. That values each Meridian share at $28.34, a 3.3% premium to Monday's closing price and 26% above Meridian's price when Yamana first proposed a three-way merger with Northern Orion Resources Inc. (NTO) in June.
Toronto-based Yamana said the cash portion of the bid now will be solely funded by a $400 million, five-year credit facility. The company previously relied on money from Vancouver-based Northern Orion, which Yamana has agreed to buy for about $1 billion, to fund the cash portion of the offer.
Yamana Chairman and Chief Executive Peter Marrone said, "We have listened to shareholders and, equally, we have made it clear that we would be prudent and disciplined. This is a full, fair and final price."
Reno, Nev.-based Meridian's board rejected the earlier Yamana bid two weeks ago, with President and Chief Executive Ed Dowling saying the offer was "not even worth considering."
Yamana said it's willing to continue to pursue Meridian even without reviewing the company's books. Yamana "believes the benefits of certainty with proceeding on an unconditional basis outweigh the need for due diligence."
The three-way deal is structured so that the Northern Orion acquisition is contingent on Yamana acquiring a two-thirds stake in Meridian. The deadline for Meridian holders to tender their shares has been extended to Sept. 7.
A Yamana conference call is set for 11 a.m. EDT. Meridian shares rose in premarket trading to $27.63 from Monday's closing price of $27.44. Yamana closed at $10.98, and the stock was inactive in the premarket.

BUENOS AIRES -(Dow Jones)- Argentina's San Juan province will approve the environmental impact statement for Canada's Intrepid Mines Ltd. (IAU.T) Casposo gold and silver mine project in the next few days, Governor Jose Luis Gioja said Sunday, according to industry magazine Mining Press.
The pro-mining governor won reelection in a landslide election Sunday, receiving more than 60% of the vote, with anti-mining challenger Roberto Basualdo garnering slightly more than 25% of the vote. The governor also extended his majority in the provincial congress, with allies extending control in all 19 of the provincial districts, according to Mining Press.
Yamana Gold Inc.'s (AUY) Gualcamayo mine environmental impact statement is also on the verge of approval, Gioja was quoted as saying.

lol-I will keep quiet for now
OT for skunksyard
If you figured it out go to new AHAG board
No Hype-just feel really good about this one. Let me know if you get it.
Jimstr
OT-Riddle for Skunksyard (keep this to ourselves)
Publicly TRADED ABC Co. is to Publically TRADED AHAG just as PRIVATE CO. XYZ is to PRIVATE CO. F
I would like to thank the members of this board for allowing me this brief interuption about another stock
Jimstr
then it is someone else. Damn, I made the mistake once already of posting my e-mail on here and now I am getting flooded with spams-I wont post my email again.
I will be buying AMHD first thing Monday.
Jimstr
I believe you did. I may have yours. Does your e-mail have anything to do with the size of a body part(hand, foot,or ankle)?
Jimstr
to Skunksyard especially,
I am recently (as of 8/11@ 10:26:01) VERY VERY high on THIS stock if you get my meaning!
Jimstr
do you still have my e-mail?
OT-Hey Skunksyard or anyone that feels they can answer this question.
I'm thinking of buying stock in a company(let's call them PUBLICLY HELD ABC Co) It is a sub-penny stock that doesn't answer e-mails or return phone calls to their stockholders(what a shocker-lol). After many delays and BS PR's I decided to go another route. In trying to get some answers,I decided to phone a PRIVATE company that is supposedly making crucial equipment for the PUBLICLY TRADED ABC Co. that will allow them to start production(let's call them PRIVATE XYZ Co.)
The guy from PRIVATE XYZ Co. returns my call and we chatted for an hour. To my amazement He told me information that would lead me to believe that PUBLICLY HELD ABC Co will finally have the equipment to start production in the near future.
I'm not sure what constitutes "insider trading". My question is this. Would I be in any trouble buying shares of PUBLICLY HELD ABC CO. based on info I receive from PRIVATE Co. XYZ? Would I be in any violation in sharing this info with fellow stockholders? In essence, would the information I got from the PRIVATE XYZ CO. be considered insider trading if I acted on it or is it only insider trading if PUBLICLY HELD ABC Co. had told me this information exclusively?

When was he added to the AMHD executive team?
http://www.amelotholdings.com/client/executive_team.htm
He came over from Turning Mill and after a little DD appears to be on the conservation commitee in Mattapoisett

I was laughing about your Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor comment in answer to someone's insane post blaming UPZS woes on 911.
As I stated in an earlier post, the ONLY way a pizza shop could have been negatively affected by the events of 9/11 is if all the workers in the shop were of Middle Eastern descent.
Jim
But let's not get off topic too much. Skunksyard has done some digging and is on to something that smells fishy. You can all thank Pinksheets rating system for bringing whatever it is to light.
funniest post yet- Got a good belly laugh from 'need to know'
LOL-I didn't buy today jackass!
You're too funny, yet pathetic. I am still increasing my position on AMHD so I do not mind your bashing and keeping the PPS down. But you are comical with your transparent agenda
Pity,
Jim

Sell it if you are in. You can get some money back.
Short it if you can. You will make money.
SO THAT'S YOUR REAL AGENDA HERE. SHORT THE STOCK AND THEN BASH. YOU ARE LOWER THAN AN EARTHWORM
you are obviously bashing this stock to get a better entry point to buy in. Problem is -only ones holding aren't selling. If you want back in, get it now or shut the f up
thanks tech
I don't get it!
Dollar sinks to a new low vs the Euro, Gold futures are up $2-5 today, Meridian (MDG)is up .70 and AUY and NTO are down .10?
(GLD and GG are up .20 today as well)
Is it possible that some major shareholders are mnipulating the SP so that the merger will not look attractive to Meridian?
Is there a short squeeze going on?
Anyone have any thoughts?
Jim
Let's see if this will get us anywhere. I spoke with the editor of the local newspaper MATTAPOISETT WANDERER. He hadn't heard of Amelot but told me to contact Mike Botelho who is the Mattapoisett Town Administrator.
Here is the e-mail I sent him. If any of you have other pertinent info we need to know, post it PUBLICLY and I will ask him if/when he responds.
Mr Botelho,
I believe it is a matter of public record and correct me if I'm wrong but...
I would like to know any information re:Permits, applications, etc
with respect to an upstart company by the the name of Amelot Holdings that
is supposedly opening a biofuel site in your community. Amelot Holdings/Energy is working closely with a company named Turning Mills
Consultants in procuring a site, obtaining permits, zoning and regulatory
issues.
Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated and I thank
you in advance for going the extra mile in this matter.
Best regards,
Jim Struble

looks like free money to me
his last announced planned sale 6/7 was @.003 also when the stock price was only .0025. I wondered why then too and all of a sudden the SP went up to .0036 within 5 days(heavy volume from 6/5-6/11)
Note: I believe the only news released around that time was that they had applied for excise tax credit.
hope this helps

2 Questions???? Unique Pizza and Subs Corporation (Other OTC:UPZS.PK - News), a Delaware Corporation, is pleased to announce a commitment to open 25 stores in North Carolina and South Carolina. LKN Investment Partners LLC, made up of Raymond Monroe, David Koran and Dr. Michael Chandler, has committed to open 25 Unique Pizza and Subs locations in North and South Carolina over the next 36 months. LKN has also purchased the rights for ``first right of refusal' in these two states and plans to open 50 plus locations with the first 5 expected to open by the end of 2007....
I guess the next question is the "commitment" Did they pay the franchise fees for these stores or sign a legal document? What was the purchase amount for right of refusal?
