What PowerGrid icon. I can't find such a thing. Need more detailed explanation.
I am not complaining about Reeltime. I am only indicating what my problems are. It seems to me that you, like so many others here, only want to hear the rosy picture. I've already said that I have old equipment. Howevber, if what somebody else is saying: that the movie is stored in my computer for a short while, then, the second time around I should not have any problems. But I do. I watched the same movie this afternoon, and nothing since then. Why am I getting more jerky-jerky motions now than I did earlier. I viewed other videos elsewhere, and I had no problems. And by the way, I went to another computer last week, and it had the same jerky-jerky motion. I am looking for an explanation. I have a lot of money tied-up in here, and I can guarantee you that if most people experience what I am, they are not going to sign up for it. So, anyone has an explanation?
If that is the case, I should be able to go back now and watch One-Eyed Jack and experience no stop-and-go regardless of what my band width readings are. I will do so after the test tonight.
Just now I was watching the end of One-Eyed Jack when the picture stop for a second, started again, stop, etc.. I went to test the band width, and all the readings were at zero. I did this several times. I took the movie about half way back, and it was the same thing. The band width remained at zero. This continued to go on for several minutes. I thought I was streaming, so, if the band width reads zero shouldn't it stop altogether? And how come can I move from one webside to another with the readings at zero, and the movie continue to play with the readings at zero. In the streaming, doesn't the movie file get transfered into a file in my conputer temporarily (a few seconds ahead) before I get to watch it? Or do I get it directly from the streaming? If I play a movie for the first time, it takes between one and two minutes for it to start. But if I had watched that movie before, it starts muchm much quicker. I do not understand how this works.
Because of the problems that some of us experienced the other night, I suggested that we test for 30 minutes instead of 15 so that people experiencing problems have time to check things out and prepare a good report. However, 15 minutes should be long enough if nothing goes wrong. Use your own judgement. The test starts at 10 Eastern and ends whwen you feel it has worked, but at least 15 minutes. It would be nice if everybody report results even if it was to say that everything went well.
I wrote the following:
<<<<<< Like it has happened many times before with the internet, Reeltime Rentals (www.reeltime.com) is a business poised to carve a niche quickly and become a household name. The reason: it has a top notch streaming video product like nothing seen on the internet before. While the website doesn’t have a lot of content yet, top management has been meeting with the bosses of many studios in order to take care of this matter. And, as you know, when the discussions get past the lawyers and the technicians, something is about to happen.
Right now one can access the site free of charge to watch some movies and classic television shows. This should give one a good idea about the superiority of their streaming technology. On the other hand, don’t be discouraged by the lack of image quality on some of the flicks. This has to do with the quality of the movie; not the Reeltime product. To see how good their technology is, watch some of the movie trailers from one of the better studios, which are available free of charge. And also remember that they are still in a beta testing phase.
For those who may want to watch more than just the flicks now available free of charge, one can pay per view or get a subscription, which is right now very cheap while the site is being tested. This means that for less than twenty dollars one can get a six-month subscription. In just a few days, I got more out of my subscription that I would have otherwise by going to a video store or have movies delivered at home by mail. And, I still have twenty-five weeks left in my subscription because I got it early! If the company manages to sign just one contract with a major studio in the near future, I will end-up watching a lot of flicks for a few pennies each. So, go to the site now, and check it out, and if you like it, sign-up before the price goes up. >>>>>>
Use it if you wish. Posted anywhere you want to. Edit it if you want to. Use it to generate your own ideas. Whatever you do, get the word out.
Also remember that Nero, either doesn't know some things or cannot answer them. He is here to see how we are doing, and what progress in being made, and to find out what problems we are experiencing so that the information can be relayed back in order to improve the system. While this is probably part of his job, he doesn't have time to be answering all tanginal questions. If he started doing that because he wanted to, it wouldn't be long before he would have time for nothing else. When anyone asks a question here, anybody else can answer it. It doesn't have to be Nero.
stoop,
charr is a worrier. If a decline don't give him a heart attack, thinking that the stock may go down will give him a heart attack.
Quit worrying about the day to day thing. Next week the CEO is going to LA, and if he closes even one deal, the stock should go up in price. If you go to ALEXA, you can track usage of the site. That's probably the best indicator you are going to find for the time being.
Finish test. I experienced no problems.
Nero is not going to address that issue. He already told you about discussing anything financial. Don't get him to leave. I apologize to him on your behalf.

Thanks. I hope you keep on coming here on a regular basis. I have some questions I would like to ask, but it will take some time to properly word it. So, I will write these elsewhere, and then post them. They will be for you or anybody else to answer.
I am glad you had no problem. It makes me breath easier. I wonder if it could be my equipment? My monitor is almost ten years old, and my computer is more than five. I just watched another 15 minutes or so of "One-Eyed Jack", and it did a couple of little skips. The type when the frame freezes for a fraction of a second, and comes right back with a little jump that makes the motion of the person seem ackward. I am talking about less than 5 seconds altogether in about fifteen minutes. I went back on the film, but the second time around I did not notice the skip.
I was pausing it, and coming back later 1/2 hour, 1 hour or longer in between. I love that pause feature. One can go away for quite a while and just come back to where one was.
I've been watching One-Eyed Jack, here and there in between doing other things. It has taken me about 6 hours to get through 46 minutes. At around 45 minutes, the sound of the conversation did not match the picture. Lips would be closed while one heard talking, and the other way around. It lasted less than 30 seconds.
I won;t contact RLTR. Hopefully whoever is tracking message boards will come in here soon.
Don't forget test this evening at 10 PM Eastern time (7 Pacific). Watch something for a couple of minutes, then switch to another, and then to another. For those who wish to do so, the test is extended from 15 minutes to half hour. Let's help get all the bugs out of the system.
Today I watched Tropix. 15/20 minutes here and there. Taking breaks in between to go about my business, leaving the Grid up with the movie on stop. No problem when I came back. I only experienced a little stop-and-go at around the 1:30 mark in the movie. At one point, for a couple of seconds, the speech seemed to be out of step with the movement of the lips. I played it back, but it was fine the second time around. However, there was an slight hesitation on another spot--when the boat made the waves, the later played in skips for about three seconds.
Otherwise, no problems. I wish I had a top of the line screen to watch on. The image is not as sharp as it would be for a DVD, but that is my equipment's shortcoming. So, I cannot test the quality of the image.
Now, why would anyone make up such a post? Never mind! I guess there can be a nut case out there. However, I personally will take it at face value. It makes sense that they would be monitoring investors message boards. After all, investors that post are about the most active in keeping up with details. If I were a CEO I make sure someone did this kind of monitoring.
Well, I hope so. I've got a lot of money tied-up in here, and I am sure some of you do too. Report your problems. Don't let me be the only one who complains.
Just before doing this I watched some short videos on Digg, and I had absolutely no problems. I already contacted Reeltime, and told them exactly what I wrote on my last post.
WHAT A DISASTER
I first point and clicked on "Reefer Madness". It took three minutes to get started, and it stopped after 1:44, and went back to seeking. Then when it got to buffering, the percentage would go up and down, and it took two more minutes to continue. I switched to play "Cyrano de Bergerac", and it took seven minutes from click to playing, going up and down in percentage during buffering. It played for 4:16 before it went back to seeking, and it started the process again. I closed down the Grid.
Is my recollection wrong, or have they been adding movies every day?
ONLY #% MINUTES
to test time.
Don't Forget.
Tonight at 10 PM Eastern time (7 Pacific) everybody is supposed to get on line at the same time to test the system.
Well, first, it happened to me more than once many years ago, so I know first hand that it does happen. Second, an MM can complete the trade leaving himself with a short position on the stock, which he then, if he doesn't like to hold them, closes it when the chance appears. He can be trading for his own account, or he can simply snatch the 100 shares from the 10,000 share order that was not AON. I also know that this is the case because I have a friend who used to work at the exchange, and they pulled that kind of stuff. What the hell, such an order is nothing but a electronic bookkeeping entry for them. Haven't you ever gotten an split transaction. I have. Put an order for 20,000 shares, has 5k, 5k, 5K, 4.5K and 0.3K, and the last 0.2k did not go through. I had it happen the other way around too. I've had 1, 2, 3 hundred shares go through, and the rest just sat there. And at the end of the day. It was just never for a .05 stock. Can't say exactly what the lowest amount was, but it was a penny stock.
You are all wrong. This trade for 100 shares went through because so idiot put an order and did not specified it to be all-or-none. At one side of the equation there was one person specifying or-all-none, and to fill that order they had to hit the other guy for a 100 share trade. All my order are all-or-none. If it is a very big order I split it myself rather than put that decision in the hands of brokers and MMs.
<<<<< Finally, I wouldnt get too excited about a major content deal being announced next week. Yes, they are flying down to meet with the big dogs, but even if they get a verbal yes they are still looking at 60-90 days in legal before they will be able to announce a deal. The studios will not allow a press release until the ink is dry on the contract, which IMO is 60-90 days out. >>>>>
I hope you are incorrect about this. It also seems to me that our "big dogs" wouldn't be traveling down there unless there has been a lot of preliminary work on the matter. My feeling is that the contracts have already been drafted, and that they may need only some minor adjustments. Obviously, no studio is in the bag, and not final contract may be signed, but if one or two do sign that would mean preassure on the others to work out a deal. However, I suspect that the deals would be worked out one at a time, and that the 90 days time frame is likely to pass before all the inks are dry.
Top management would not be taking a trip to LA unless they had something worked out with several of these outfits. There might be a few last minute glitches, but I would be surprised if they don't come back with a bunch of scribbles on dotted lines, and once a few of these are on board, the rest might be pressed to sign in order to not be left behind. Buy more stock now. Next week you may have to pay a lot more. I messed up by not loading up two/three months back just because I thought the whole thing could just fall apart, but the truth was that the risk/reward ration was great, and still is.
Test went great here. I experienced no problems at all. The picture was very good. Tested two movies. Tommorrow at the same time.
It's almost 10 PM Eastern time. Get ready to go online to test the RLTR delivery system.
I have no red borders. I click on the fourth button from the top right corner, and it disappears. To get the red border back, click Esc.
Don't forget: the test of the site is at 10 PM Eastern time every night. Let everybody know.
Well, IHUB only has 12.5 times as much traffic as RLTR, so I guess we ain't doing that bad.
My mistake for not being more clear. ICTN is going to track RLTR. Thus when RLTR starts getting a lot of customers, if they do, one of the outcomes will be that the stock price will stabilize. This will have an effect on ICTN, which will stop fluctuating accordingly.
Once RLTR starts reporting revenues this large price fluctuations will come to an end. After 2 or 3 quarters the numbers will become very steady as it is the case with most companies that are in the "retail" business, and depend on millions of customers.
Don't forget tonight at 10:00 PM Eastern everybody is supposed to access RLTR website and start streaming for 15 minutes. I plan to watch a minute or two of one movie, then switch to another and then another. Pass the word. Let's see how well it works. Last night I watched about half of one of those crappy movies, and the streaming was great. Then I went to Yahoo and clicked on that new show Jericho, and the quality of the viewing experience was worst than the crappy moving I watched. What a world of a difference!!!!!!!!!!
Agent,
I know what you are doing. You are posing questions and making negative comments in order to see how investors here handle it. If they give you good answers, you might invest. If all they do is call you names, then you won't. Smart way of dong some DD.
Agent.
I answer your statement by simply posting the yearly run-rate for a handfull of businesses in related aspects of this industry (interpreting the word widely):
NFLX 0.960 billion
CHTR 5.300 billion
RNWK 0.360 billion
SIRI 0.630 billion
XMSR 0.920 billion
TIVO 0.250 billion
And I haven't included many of the major players that have been around for years providing electronic entertainment.
You don't have to answer posts if you do not have the time. Be selective. No one would get upset if you happened to ignore an issue. I don't have the time either, and I understand. And I think everybody else does too.
Your apology is accepted. Most people never apologize when they are wrong, and it takes a special person to recognize their mistakes and admit it. Sep. 12 was a very frustrating day for all the holders of RLTR and ICTN, so let bygones be bygones, and concentrate in the future. Maybe someday the RLTR millionaires can get together in Seattle for a party.
