Spartak, I'll answer you straight. It's a very serious consideration. What I see happening is selling ABTL and possibly coming back to it later. I just don't see anything but downward pricing until this company can figure out what it's doing.
They have a little bit of this, a little bit of that, and nothing big on the horizon...unless they sell the company.
I checked out the Detroit Trading Company, and it really looks like ABTL should be suing them instead of buying leads from them. The company is in a Detroit suburb, not really Detroit. Maybe Detroit Trading will buy out ABTL. I know it sounds backwards, but ABTL is pretty screwed up.
stockdoc68, ....looking for the exit door.
Spartak, you got that right. It's always the same, "next quarter will be better". This company's always stumbling around like a drunk at 2:00 am.
Seems like they're always being "impacted" by something. This time it was lack of inventory in the Japanese vehicles, the SAR, etc., etc. It also seems like they're trying to squeeze another fraction of a cent out of some half-baked scheme. They have to sell out instead of buying leads from companies like Detroit Trader via Yahoo. That was really a big step backwards. They were supposed to be concentrating on internally generated leads. They used to have a partnership with Yahoo. What happened to that?
The time draws near that you have to rethink your objectives and how to achieve them. That goes for ABTL and me too.
stockdoc
It's all in Autobytels hands now. Down another 14 cents, and no enthusiasm.
stockdoc
This stock drives me nuts. Can't figure out what it's doing or why it's doing it. All I can do is let it do whatever it does.
stockdoc
One thing for sure, they have to start picking up a lot more ad revenue. It's high profit margin, and there's a ton of money spent on ads. If they can't get more ad revenue, they may be stuck making pennies a quarter. It's still hard to believe this company was pulling in 45 cents profit at one time.
stockdoc
Anyone willing to venture a guess at the earnings? The only thing I can say with any degree of certainty is that they'll be positive. With a little less certainty, I'll say that they'll be at least what they were last quarter. Beyond that, I have no idea.
Anything beyond that is strictly based on hope, and I hope that ABTL has picked up some ad money and sold another 15% or so of PR's. The savings in salary expenses probably won't show up until next quarter.
stockdoc
You're right. Sort of a messed up day. I'll be checking the afterhours today, and the premarket tomorrow.
stockdoc
An interesting day. It kind of looks like a lot of people are confused. Up, down, up, down.....right near the end of the trading day, it was actually up five cents. Then, something happened, and someone got scared and sold out for seven cents less. Right now, I'm happy that we only lost one cent at the close.
Tomorrow should be interesting.
stockdoc
Confusedtrader, I don't know what's going on, but TD Amertrade showed that the unsold shares disappeared from the level II list hours ago. I guess I'm slightly confused too.
Incidentally, Yahoo financial finally shows Ascendia giving ABTL an outperform, but didn't have much of the information Geronimo found. They did, however, say they dropped the target price.
stockdoc
Whoever was selling that 50K block took the unsold portion off the market. Maybe we can get back to some reasonable trading.
As I said, and will repeat, it's too damned bad that some of these rec's are hidden away, out of sight. I don't see the point of some guru doing an analysis if the information doesn't make it out to the public.
stockdoc
I'm far from new when it comes to doing research on the internet, but Geronimo sure knows how to find great information. I should be taking lessons from him on doing internet searches.
stockdoc
It's really to bad that some of these recommendations don't show up on sites like Yahoo, Google, whatever. Where the heck are they? The company needs some publicity, and they seldom, if ever get it.
stockdoc
steve, yes there is an advantage to reporting earnings after the market closes. It gives shareholders the chance to do their barfing and get some sleep before the trading begins the next day.
stockdoc
ABTL, once again, gets a boost in premarket and then falls apart in the regular hours. I can't figure it out, just have to sit back and see how the whole thing plays out.
At this moment, we're down 8 cents, and the ask's are capitulating. ABTL's trading is totally weird.

I checked with Ihub, NASDAQ, and Free Realtime. None of them show small trades after hours. I would be interested in seeing the link(s) to those trades. Please post if you could.
TIA
stockdoc
Spartak, I've double checked the trades for the day, and don't see any 8K trades. Just as with your 9 share trade, where did you see either of those?
Spartak, sorry, but I don't see any trades for 9 shares. Where did you see that at?
That's strange. It jumped from 3.74 to 3.85 in the last 16 minutes of trading. Maybe there's hope for this stock yet.
stockdoc
I've made more money by picking up aluminum cans from the garbage and turning them in for the ten cent deposit. That may not sound very interesting, but at least I know that I'm not going to lose money on the deal.
stockdoc
Mars also has more intelligence than the combined intelligence of management at ABTL. Unfortunately for us, Mars only has one celled creatures living three feet underground.
stockdoc
Yeah, the MM's are going to have to call in extra help to handle the heavy volume on ABTL today. The market's expecting big things from ABTL this quarter. P/E is going to drop to 1. Coats decides to take a salary of a dollar a year, Priceline decides they can't make it without buying ABTL.
I really should stop taking LSD.
stockdoc
So, what happened today...specifically this morning? No premarket trades.
I see that ABTL continues its policy of frivolous PR's. How about management putting out something that means something to help the price of the stock?
stockdoc
Just make sure that you watch out for the enemy, Mr. Burns (alias Jeff Coats).
stockdoc
If you jump out the window, just make sure it's a first floor window. ABTL ain't worth it.
stockdoc
Newsbreak: ABTL's only down .0399. All jumpers please put your plans on hold.
Three cents!!!! Good grief, we'll have to enter ABTL in the Stock Market Olympics!
Stockdoc:)
Let's not go crazy with this thing, remember, this is Autobytel we're talking about. How about getting back to the price it was before the R/S? (x 5 of course)
One thing for sure, without those two bloated salaries weighing the balance sheet down, we're going to pick up an extra $700K.
stockdoc
That sounds about right. I thought it might have come from the coffee fund, but regardless....
Glad to see they're showing their support.
stockdoc
Unless ABTL totally screws up, there should be more advertising revenues, maybe some reduction in overhead, and possibly more page views. GM spends billions on ads (yes, billions!). ABTL certainly should be able to convince GM to throw a few million more their way, especially since ABTL's one of the largest internet companies.
It's all there, Autobytel just has to have the know-how to go out there and get it. Should be a very good quarter.
stockdoc
There doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm to buy the stock. I have no idea what's going on with the market today. Those six trades before the market opened today looked like individual retail trades, nothing big, just small lots, but the question still stands...."why"?.
Totally weird.
stockdoc
That's definitely weird. Six trades before the bell, and nothing in the news, good or bad. Sometimes, this stock doesn't even start trading until late afternoon. Must be some screw-up in the electronic trading. Let's see if there's more normal trading as the day goes on.
stockdoc
I'm looking forward to the quarterly that reflects the reduced overhead. Of course, ABTL still needs to substantially increase revenues. The reduction in payroll's going to put an extra $175K per quarter towards our bottom line. Let's hope that Coats doesn't go crazy and spend that money on something that doesn't do any good.
stockdoc
I know this sounds stupid, but some people have to see it official, and in print....."ABTL regains NASDAQ compliance". I hope that the doubters and naysayers are happy now and pick up the pace a bit.
stockdoc
According to the latest data on Institutional holdings, the ABTL institutional holdings picked up a little bit since yesterday. I'm glad to see that someone's watching this stock. These reports may or may not reflect realtime activities.
In any case, it's better than nothing, and prior to this, nothing had happened for at least a month.
stockdoc
This company's so screwed up right not that they can't even maintain their pre-split share price. If anyone recalls, the day before the split it was 78 cents (x5=3.90) I'd be happy to see the good old days when it was 85 cents (presplit/4,,25 now). What are the chances of that happening without a major increase in profit and a fantastic guidance with guarantees for the next five years?
Frankly, I think the chances of seeing them hit $5 are the same as a snowball in hell. No one seems to care a bit about ABTL with the exception of the eight people or so who follow this board.
Eight people???? That's got to tell you something about the ABTL following. Come on Jeff, let's see some insider buying that doesn't just make everyone laugh at you in disgust.
Stockdoc
Do you have any links to Dyers comments regarding ABTL? We've heard him several times on the CC's, but I've never found his comments in print.
stockdoc
Gravity's doing it's job very nicely. Unfortunately, gravity isn't what we would like to see. The market apparently isn't expecting much from ABTL's next report judging from the market's action over the last week or so.
Assuming that they don't hire replacements for the two employees that moved on, that additional $700K/year is going to help out a lot. Let's hope ABTL didn't have to give them a gazillion dollars as a going-away present.
stockdoc
Coats is always saying how underpriced this stock is, so why isn't he loading up? Same goes for the rest of those high-priced company employees. Coats really should leave the company, especially after the lame attempt to boost the share price with the insider buying, buy-backs, and conferences. Totally transparent and self-serving.
stockdoc
Another one of the clever attempts to get the market's attention....the buy-back. How about those "insider" buys to show that people in the company believe in ABTL's future and that the market's going to crank the share price sky-high.
While I think they've acted like amateurs playing silly games, I really believe that the commpany has a very good future, not only this year, but subsequent years as well. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they looked for a buyer or another company tried to buy them out.
stockdoc
Friday's typically been a down-day for ABTL. I have no idea why that is, but that's what I've noticed. For ABTL to go up two days in a row isn't bad. I'm happy to see that ABTL's cutting their overhead. ($700K...nice) If they can come up with an increase in revenues, that would have a lot more meaning, and the market would be a lot happier. Maybe the ad revenues will help out.
I'm looking forward to the quarterly. 14,000,000 projected vehicle sales for the year. That should translate to some big money for ABTL. Maybe some company will come along and make ABTL an offer.
