imo, with all metal additive manufacturing, being that so much time is invested by a company in the digital design and pre-build prep, the fact that pr3d can save that build before it goes bad will be a useful and valuable tool in any manufacturers AM toolbox. Combine that with the fact that a company using AM has presumably also spent a lot of cash on the software and hardware needed to just get to the start button on that first print. This time and expense is already invested, well before the extremely expensive powder has been loaded in the machine. Pr3d will not only provide an insurance policy against that loss of pre-build time and cost but will also serve as a force multiplier. By saving a build (and powder) before it goes bad, pr3d helps make AM not only repeatable but also profitable. Then, taking things to the next level, Pr3d can be used to document and verify that the build is good. Combine that with the fact that PR3D is OEM agnostic (it works with all major metal printer OEMs) Combine that with the fact that aerospace and medical industries will require traceability and documentation for many am parts. PR3D provides a necessary "common standardized window" for all the metallurgists, engineers and anyone else interested in a certain build, to look through to see what is going on with the print job no matter where they are in the world, what machine they are using and all other materials and process variables. Everybody can now see and investigate using the same data. Combine this with the fact that sglb is now integrated with mtls and the industry backbone. Combined with the fact that sglb is also involved with most major players in am and with almost all other standards, educational, industrial, and governmental agencies related to am - plus the defense department - still gives me some hope for the future. Oh yea I forgot to mention closed-loop control. glta
Weekend spec only, but just listened again to the Rice interview from a week ago. He still mentions Sglb/ GE /Air Force partnership, Intel Inside model and Airbus partnership. He says he is grateful the industries are catching up with sigma. And when asked about the sales for the next two quarters he said that it was his job to make sales. Imo, that is a tell. At this point that is a literal statement. Sales=Job. imo, he didn't sound too worried about his job. Actually said he was happy and that stockholders would be happy this year as well. I believe that he believes that. glta
Everybody cool out there? Seems like the rest of the market finally caught up with sigma. Been told to stay in the house in nor cal. But encouraged to walk dog and self. Grocery stores were ok in bay/capital area. No bigee here so far. Just everybody staying home except for essentials. Most businesses getting ready to shut here for a week or two imo. Anything related to food health etc staying open so far. A friend in So Cal printing says he won't shut down since he prints cereal boxes. Interested to know how others are doing. glta...really
Sure. I always feel like I have to read a little/speculate between the lines in these interviews. When he was asked about revenues/sales upcoming he replied roughly that it was his job to make sales. Sounds like everyone is on the same page. ;)

Viper, thx, I like this part - "...there are still certain barriers to overcome before the technology enjoys truly widespread adoption. These include standardisation of materials and processes, lower production costs and greater repeatability and reliability. 3D printer manufacturers and other industry stakeholders are meeting these challenges head-on. They are addressing these limitations by enhancing machines with closed-loop control systems, partnering to develop standards and improving workflows with automation."
Let's get this party started. "Sigma Labs looks to snag significant segment of an untapped $2 billion market"
"...Sigma Labs is determined to change that uncertainty by using artificial intelligence (AI) to predict flaws in the meltpool during production, providing quality assurance in-process, rather than post-process. Sigma’s PrintRite3D uniquely leverages thermal signatures to monitor the quality of each part in the production process – layer by layer and in real time. This allows operators to correct or stop production of a defective part, resulting in reduced error rates and higher yields. This incredibly sophisticated and powerful technology holds tremendous value for the 3D metal printing industry, and the Materialise agreement is a clear recognition of the value.
The agreement marks the first time a 3rd party in-process quality assurance software has been integrated and embedded in an AM platform, and perhaps more importantly, the agreement also marks the launch of Sigma Labs into commercialization. Founded in 2010 by a team of Los Alamos scientists, physicists and metallurgists, Sigma Labs has undergone extensive testing and validation of efficacy, earning high marks from all parties along the way."

Just spec but if a person thinks sl will be delisted or not could be a simple investment thesis. Sglb would have to return to a dollar t stay on nasdaq and at current pps is a roi of @65%. Long term prospects are still valid imo, but an investing thesis just based on whether or not sl just gets back to compliance, which means we get back to a buck in the next 6 mos? We have always got back to compliance in the past and imo the company seems to be in a much better position now. glta
Friendly whitepaper about standards and where the focus is/will be/maybe. Nothing new about sglb but still thought id post glta https://www.researchgate.net/publication/326405459_Analysis_of_the_current_scenario_of_additive_manufacturing_standardization_and_certification

Thx for the link/article "Claus Emmelmann, head of Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute tells Barron’s. "We are bashing our way to calibrating and qualifying parts through repeated failures.” That's sounds good for us since we are working with them to solve that bottleneck. "Sigma truncates the part [validation] process significantly,” says Emmelmann. And it gets better “We have a market $1 or $2 billion in parts today,” says Emmelmann. That accounts for less than 1% of his definition for the overall market of metal parts. But Emmelmann believes the market will grow about 35% a year for a long time. 3-D metal printing can be a $50 billion business by the end of the decade.

Sol, I sent them an email asking what they knew about pr3d adoption in industry. Haven't heard back. I guess that could be a question. I don't think they are a competitor but not sure. glta

Whitepaper on AM implants"Companies dedicated to the fabrication of patient-specific implants with AM full-melt powder bed fusion such as EBM, and DMLS have to strongly rely on two main quality control technologies to accurately monitor and control several aspects of the production process. The first quality control technology is micro-CT scanner. This technology is vital for the identification of trapped particles, presence of pores, internal flaws, and for dimensional validation. Moreover, micro-CT scanners can also be used to control of power particles characteristics and powder crosscontamination. The second vital technology is real-time process monitoring systems for AM machines. This quality technology is critical to guarantee that the reliability of the AM process in order to produce high quality parts with consistent mechanical properties, chemical composition, and accurate geometries. Nonetheless, to mass produce high-performance patient-specific implants with reliable characteristics and competitive costs there is a need of AM machines integrated with smarter real-time monitoring systems and micro-CT scanners." glta

"There will be lots of blood on the floor, with metal powder in it! The LPBF market is too crowded with too many companies that have nothing to differentiate them. Customers are investing in solutions proven through market share or that offer real, value-added technical advantages over those market leaders. Whoever proves that they can decrease cost and increase quality with consistent results will win." quote from velo3d pub.

He came up definitively with 80% oems eventually licensing sigma inside. Seems a little specific. Hope he is right. that would be intel inside level.
