Well...cant say I didnt expect the ad hominim attacks.LOL
Not that it matters Lenti, but maybe anyone who knows you will have to rethink that.

First of all, I could dwarf you with information on the NBA in every conceivable way. And, FWIW, I don't (and have never) written for newspapers. I wrote statistical books for the NBA and many articles for magazines.
Secondly, you are highly selective in your arguments. You say "What happened to the great Dallas team in the playoffs?" I wasn't aware I was an apologist for Dallas. But, since you bring it up, I'll tell you exactly what happened. They played another Western Conference team. Duh. And, furthermore, they lost to Sacramento - another "run and gun" team. And, speaking of Sacramento, they beat Detroit 2-0 this year and they beat Indiana 2-0 this year. Guess those Western Conference cast-offs are better than the Eastern Conference best, huh? Of course, you CAN NOT use simple comparisons like that to make judgements about an entire conference. You have to use the entire conference records and in doing so, there is no comparison between the East and West. Now THAT is a fact. I am not biased. I couldn't care less who wins. I'm just telling you what you apparently don't want to hear.
And, although you want to point out that Indiana must be superior because they "beat the Spurs once, the Lakers twice, and the timberwolves twice during the course of this year. Thats a FACT." you should first try hard not to embarrass yourself any further than necessary. Yes, they beat the Spurs once and the T-Wolves twice, but they did NOT beat the Lakers twice. They beat them once. And, furthermore, their overall record versus those 3 teams was 4-4. Not so great for the best team in the NBA, huh?
I see no reason to debate this any further. There is NO chance that Detroit can beat a healthy LA with LA having the home court advantage and a vast, vast amount more of playoff experience. Besides, they had a better record despite the injuries and they played in a tougher conference. I'm not sure what the Vegas Odds are, but I would be surprised if LA isn't at least 6-1 and they should probably be 10-1. If they are only 6-1, I would put money on LA.
BTW: The bench is irrelevant as you will soon see.
Good luck betting on Detroit. See you in a couple weeks.
Len
Speaking of facts.............
Within a month of the last fire being extinguished from the World Trade Center, America had toppled the Taliban in Afghanistan.
They have since had 2 successful democratic elections, like in the last one, were 10% of the candidates were women!
Iraq has been freed of a brutal tyrant’s dictatorship, and is headed toward Democracy. Millions have defied the terrorists and voted and a constitution that protects rights and the democratic process, it has been sent for approval.
Of the US military's 55 most wanted Iraqi's all have been captured or killed
http://www.iacsp.com/w-cards.html
75% of al Qaeda's top operatives around the globe have been captured or killed
Democratic reform
Libya admitted its WMD program and relinquished it within the first week of Operation Iraqi freedom. They sent their WMD to President Bush in June of 2004. Bush successfully and peacefully disarmed this nation because they knew Bush meant business.
Kuwait permitted women's suffrage on May 16, 2005
Pakistan's black market nuclear technology peddling has been discovered and stopped, and amazingly they are a major ally in the war on terror, helping us nab terrorist after terrorist, including the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks!
The Mastermind
Osama bin Laden may still be at large, but the man captured in Pakistan last Saturday was even more important than bin Laden in the planning and execution of the Sept. 11 attacks.
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/10/09/60II/main524947.shtml
Democrats would have you believe the terrorists are winning the war, well consider this…
Egypt
Lebanon
Palestine
Jordan
Iraq
Afghanistan
Saudi Arabia
These are all nations now allowing free elections of some kind. Democracy is the rising tide in the Middle East, not radical Islam.
We don't plan to be in Iraq fighting forever, we are working on an Iraqi army, from planes, to tanks, and to artillery we are working to put Iraqi's on the field at greater numbers than Americans.
The Tall Afar offensive, which began Sept. 2, is the largest urban military operation in Iraq since November's siege of Fallujah. Unlike many previous joint offensives, however,
It is the Iraqi army that has the majority of the soldiers on the ground --
5,000 of the roughly 8,500 troops involved -- that does the most intense fighting and that pays the heaviest price. At least nine Iraqi soldiers have been killed during the operation, compared with one American.
"We were not afraid. We are here to protect our country," said Pvt. Tarek Hazem, 28, of Baghdad, his hands and uniform still red with the blood of men he helped treat when the building exploded. "All we feel is motivated to kill terrorists."
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/21/AR200509 2102175.html
In the long run a democratic Iraq provides the breeding ground and staging area for Arab democratic reformers in the region, if we get it right and build a solid country, like we did with Germany and Japan, we'll have an Arab face promoting democracy, and an economic superpower. And Democracy with its freedoms and standard of living will begin to look good to the average Muslim.
Increased standards of living will deplete the poverty stricken elements that are the base of the Jihadist support. Sure smart people are running the show, but Like in Palestine were there is 25% unemployment poverty provides the breeding ground for ideologies of hate.

OK lentinman start foaming from the mouth with the ad hominim attacks.
Whats fact to dispute??
That you are an bitter Liberal?
that you hate Bush?
I read the first sentence , something about Bush being a murderer, and guilty of war crimes.
Funny I dont remember Bush being convicted of war crimes. I think you should call the U.N and let them know these tidbits that you are privy too.
I wouldnt be surprise if you didnt go on to bash Bush's daughters, or bring up something Bush was alleged to have done 40 years ago.
thats all I needed to read to know you are pro liberal, and I agree you hate Bush.
If you have read 1 anti American message you have read them all.
Lentin
Just because the great lentinman says it is this or that way, doesnt make it so. I remember the stuff you posted at adotisle.
Example
There is 100% no chance that the Detroit Pistons can beat the L.A Lakers.....Lentinman.
Example
I will buy shares of MDPA when it drops to .80...Lentinman.
etc etc.
So I suppose I SHOULD just call a MORON, a MORON
Lentin why dont you just put me on ignore so that only OTC will be left to disagree with you.
The rest can feed your overinflated ego.
OK lentie
Everyone who has a right wing view is stupid or a moron, but you encourage that garbage.
This is the official "I hate Bush" board.
Either you post pro-commie propaganda, or the moderator goes on the attack.
Can you say biased.
Adios.
10bagger.
ALY has done 4-6 acquisitions since april , if I am not mistaken.
Will revenues from these show up on the next quarter report?
The board moderator has only refered to my "ilk"
as stupid, and moron... thats way better than insane...:)
You are right as always Len
Had 100% of the LA. national guard been there, they could have collectively lassooed the hurricane and shut it down.
They also could have stuck their fingers in the levvee to stop leaks before it broke. How could I have not known?
Lets see ...had 100% of the Louisiana national guard been in New Orleans, then a category 5 hurricane would not have done any damage.
Makes alot of sense to me.
Lenny...HUh??
who said anything about anti conservative?
(New York-AP, Sept. 27, 2005) - It's an only in New York story. A woman was given a ticket for sitting on a park bench because she doesn't have children.
The Rivington Playground on Manhattan's East Side has a small sign at the entrance that says adults are prohibited unless they are accompanied by a child.
Forty-seven-year-old Sandra Catena says she didn't see the sign when she sat down to wait for an arts festival to start. Two New York City police officers asked her if she was with a child. When she said no, they gave her a ticket that could bring a one thousand dollar fine and 90 days in jail.
The city parks department says the rule is designed to keep pedophiles out of city parks, but a parks spokesman told the Daily News that the department hoped police would use some common sense when enforcing the rule.
The spokesman told the paper that ticketing a woman in the park in the middle of the day is not the way you want to enforce the rule.
********************************
Actually, what's more stupid is that anyone who has been in New York City for any length of time knows that homeless people reside on benches all over the place and cops ignore them as a matter of course, whether they are alone or not. I suppose the solution is to be a vagrant, who is protected by liberalism, rather than be a single productive member of society.
Or maybe they should just execute the pedophiles. But the liberal lemmings would not allow that either
Heres the full post....it was suppose to be a joke.
I think Natch posted this on ADOTISLE awhile back
Bread: The Half-Baked Truth Revealed
More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.
Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.
In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations.
Every piece of bread you eat brings you nearer to death.
Bread is associated with all the major diseases of the body. For example, nearly all sick people have eaten bread. The effects are obviously cumulative:
99.9 percent of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread
99.7 percent of the people involved in air and auto accidents ate bread within 6 months preceding the accident
93.1 percent of juvenile delinquents came from homes where bread is served frequently
Evidence points to the long-term effects of bread eating: Of all the people born since 1839 who later dined on bread, there has been a 100% mortality rate.
Bread is made from a substance called "dough." It has been proven that as little as a teaspoon of dough can be used to suffocate a lab rat. The average American eats more bread than that in one day!
Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and osteoporosis.
Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days.
Bread is often a "gateway" food item, leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.
Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 80 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person.
Newborn babies can choke on bread.
Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in less than one minute.
Most bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling.
In light of these frightening statistics, we propose the following bread restrictions:
No sale of bread to minors.
A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast" campaign complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers.
A 300 percent federal tax on all bread to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread.
No animal or human images, nor any primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread usage.
The establishment of "Bread-free" zones around schools.

Iraqi President Thanks 'Heroes Who Came to Liberate Us'
By Kathleen T. Rhem
American Forces Press Service
WASHINGTON, Sept. 9, 2005 – Iraq's president today thanked "all the brave American Army" for its sacrifices and losses in liberating Iraq and said his country mourns the loss of American lives in exchange for Iraq's freedom.
"We owe to those American heroes who came to liberate us from the worst kind of dictatorship," Jalal Talabani said at the Pentagon after meeting with Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad and other officials.
"Thanks to your brave Army, now Iraqi people (are free)," he said, adding that for the first time Iraqis have freedom of expression, political parties, media -- "of everything."
He said "the glorious American people" have paid the price for others' freedom throughout history. "You in the United States have paid hundreds of thousands of your sons and your boys in fighting against fascism and in liberating Asian people," Talabani said. "Thanks to you, you liberated Afghanistan from the worst kind of reactionary regime; you liberated Iraq from the worst kind of dictatorship."
Talabani described progress in Iraq's economy and reconstruction, but said that unfortunately the media prefers to cover negative events instead.
"The situation in Iraq is not only black or negative," he said. "I am sorry to say that media was reluctant to reflect the real picture of Iraq."
Rumsfeld said he was pleased with Iraq's progress in drafting a new constitution. "That is difficult work," he said. "It has been watched with great interest, and I want to congratulate you on that progress and on the fact that it protects the rights and the opportunities of all people in Iraq."
Both men expressed optimism in progress being made by the Iraqi security forces.
"The skill of the Iraqi security forces is improving every week," Rumsfeld said.
Talabani said he believes Iraqi security forces will largely be able to provide for the country's security within two years. He surmised that in two years his country will need only small numbers of American troops "to prevent others from interfering in our internal affairs."
Both also vowed to fight terrorism in Iraq and elsewhere.
"The president of the United States and the government of the United States are absolutely determined to see this through to victory and success and to see the Iraqi people off on a path towards a democratic future and a successful future," Rumsfeld said.
Talabani said Iraq is determined to be America's partner in the "fight against tyranny (and) terrorism."
"We are supporting you in your policy in the Middle East; we are proud to be your friends," the president said. "We are proud to be your partners in fighting against terrorism, and we are grateful to you."
Did Blanco attempt genocide at Superdome?
Ramblings' Journal ^ | 9.7.05 | Michael King

The Red Cross has confirmed to Fox News Channel's Major Garrett that they had requested permission to take food and medical supplies to the Louisiana Superdome in the hours immediately after Hurricane Katrina's landfall. That request was denied by none other than Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco.
Garrett appeared on Hugh Hewitt's syndicated radio program this evening to discuss the shocking revelation.
MG: Well, the Red Cross, Hugh, had pre-positioned a literal vanguard of trucks with water, food, blankets and hygiene items. They're not really big into medical response items, but those are the three biggies that we saw people at the New Orleans Superdom, and the convention center, needing most accutely. And all of us in America, I think, reasonably asked ourselves, geez. You know, I watch hurricanes all the time. And I see correspondents standing among rubble and refugees and evacuaees. But I always either see that Red Cross or Salvation Army truck nearby. Why don't I see that?
HH: And the answer is?
MG: The answer is the Louisiana Department of Homeland Security, that is the state agency responsible for that state's homeland security, told the Red Cross explicitly, you cannot come.
HH: Now Major Garrett, on what day did they block the delivery? Do you know specifically?
MG: I am told by the Red Cross, immediately after the storm passed.
The Louisiana Department of Homeland Security is directly under the command and direction of Governor Kathleen Blanco. The same Kathleen Blanco who has whined and blamed the federal government from her perch in Baton Rouge throughout this entire crisis. The same Kathleen Blanco who has stared at cameras with deer-in-headlight-glazed eyes since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. The same Kathleen Blanco who, after being asked about federal help prior to landfall said, "No." The same Kathleen Blanco who rescinded Mayor Ray Nagin's order to completely evacuate the city due to dangerous conditions just today.
Was Kathleen Blanco's goal the death of as many of those in the Superdome as possible?

How do you know those are facts?

That site is nothing but a sleazy Bush bashing site. IMO
BTW according to that timeline Aug 29 8AM – MAYOR NAGIN REPORTS THAT WATER IS FLOWING OVER LEVEE: “I’ve gotten reports this morning that there is already water coming over some of the levee systems. In the lower ninth ward, we’ve had one of our pumping stations to stop operating, so we will have significant flooding, it is just a matter of how much.” [NBC’s “Today Show”]
Then we dont hear anything from Nagin again until 3-1/2 days later
Thursday Sept 1
2PM — MAYOR NAGIN ISSUES “DESPERATE SOS” TO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT: “This is a desperate SOS. Right now we are out of resources at the convention centre and don’t anticipate enough buses. We need buses. Currently the convention centre is unsanitary and unsafe and we’re running out of supplies.” [Guardian, 9/2/05]
What do you think took Nagin 3-1/2 to issue a desperate SOS to the Federal Goverment when he knew water was coming over the levee 3-1/2 days prior, in you're unbiased opinion. And why did this site not bring that to light?
Shouldnt we have a daily accounting of Nagin activities?
Len I dont believe that the link Richard provided is a credible source.
Nearly everything on that website is pro-left/anti-right.

Hurricane Adrian Slams El Salvador
Thousands Seek Higher Ground as Storm Moves Ashore
By DIEGO MENDEZ, AP
PUERTO LA LIBERTAD, El Salvador (May 20) - Hurricane Adrian slammed into El Salvador, unleashing torrential rains in an area prone to devastating floods and forcing some 14,000 people to seek higher ground.
The center of the hurricane hit a stretch of coast south of the capital San Salvador, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, which reported maximum sustained winds of almost 75 mph as Adrien made landfall. It was the first recorded Pacific hurricane to strike El Salvador.
The hurricane was expected to weaken and continue moving northeast across El Salvador at about 9 mph before cutting across Honduras.
Adrian, the eastern Pacific's first named tropical storm of the season, washed out roads and unleashed heavy rains that forecasters said could cause severe flooding.
'The hurricane has entered Salvadoran territory, and several things may now happen,' President Tony Saca said. 'This emergency situation isn't over yet.'
The country's National Service for Territorial Studies said the hurricane hit land near the port of Acajutla, about 35 miles west of San Salvador, and was weakening.
U.S. forecasters placed Adrian closer to Puerto La Libertad, the beach resort nearest San Salvador. Streets in La Libertad were deserted as rains sprayed across an agitated surf and waves pounded at the pier.
'The electricity has gone out, the wind is getting stronger and it's raining nonstop,' said Jorge Alberto Turcios, a guard at a restaurant in La Libertad.
'The waves are getting higher, there's not a soul on the street,' Turcios said by telephone.
Earlier, Saca broadcast an appeal for his citizens to obey evacuation requests.
In the Storm's Path
'We understand that they are guarding their belongings, but lives are worth more than anything,' he told Radio La Chevere.
Authorities evacuated about 14,000 people from low-lying coastal areas, in some cases using helicopters as waters rose. Most were taken to improvised shelters at schools, where classes were canceled.
Rivers rose both in El Salvador and in neighboring Honduras, both nations devastated by Hurricane Mitch - a Caribbean storm - in 1998.
The rains began to wash out some roads in both countries, officials reported.
Already one death was indirectly linked to the storm: a military pilot died Wednesday when he crashed a small plane that he was ferrying from San Salvador's civilian airport to a military base as a precaution against the heavy winds.
The U.S. hurricane center reported Adrian had maximum sustained winds of about 80 mph before making landfall.
The region, where many people live in shacks clinging to sharp ravines, is particularly vulnerable to flooding and landslides. Mitch, arriving from the Caribbean, killed at least 9,000 people in Central America.
