How's going, Meme?
Still in SUNW? They've been tough on you today - but no tougher than on my INSP, I can tell you...(hit by a downgrade from buy to accumulate. I've had so many of them lately I thought I'd grown immune to them... I havn't...)
Man, when will this insanity end?...

I'm sure you entire presidential camapign has run to the words of another song by John (with fingers pointing at the oponent)

Oh, well...well well well...John!

"All you need is love!" (and a handcount, if your name is Al)
"I'm losing you" (alternating between Al or George, these days...)
"Please please me" (both AL and George at the supreme court, right about now)
"I don't wanna spoil the party so I'll go" (Clinton)
"Oh, dear! What can I do? Babe is in black and I'm feeling blue" (Clinton after you know what...)
"You talk about a revolution well, you know, we all wanna change the world ("and I invented the internet" (Gore))
"Cold Turkey" (Gore, after the suppreme court stopped the handcount, earlier today).
"Oh, I get by, with a little help from my (fathers) friends" (Bush, in a seigh of relief)

Re: Shocking (meme)
It's all in the stars, dear!
This is how I read them:
The short term down trend, extending from September, hit a bottom yesterday afternoon and now has a bounce potential up until around 2900 (resistance line)
After it meets that, my personal bet is that it'll take another dip, following the resistance line, until it meets the medium term support line that extends through early January, April and May lows. This should send the Nasdaq in 2500 by end of December. From there, it should break out of the short term down trend and bounce in the range of the medium term downtrend (momentary resistance ~3700, extending through the highs of March and September)

I went out, this morning and bought INSP (but it could have been any other stock that's ~50% below it's 50 day moving average, like ITWO or AETH) for a short play (just 7-8 trading days or so) and as the Nasdaq approaches the short term resistance line, I'll expect to sell again and re-buy when (if) the Nasdaq hits 2500. I thought of buying RRRR for no other reason than being stubborn...but then again... Nah...

I hate to lecture on this...
But these idiots don't give me any choice!
James Baker: "I can certainly understand the pain and frustration of losing an election so very, very narrowly, but it is time to honor the will of the people."
Mr. Baker, Bush lost the popular vote (forget Florida). Bush is therefore not "the will of the people"! BTW, how DARE you use the word "honor", after this?
G. W. Bush: "But now that the votes are counted..."
But they are not, Mr. Bush! You are the first to know! You saw to it, personally!
Lieberman: "This evening, the secretary of state of Florida has decided to certify what by any reasonable standard is an incomplete and inaccurate count of the votes cast in the state of Florida"
And that's thanks to you, too, Mr. Lieberman! (see underneath).
Lieberman: "What is at issue here is nothing less than every American's simple, sacred right to vote,"
You forgot to add "unless they serve overseas in the US army" you ninny! How DARE you lecture anyone on "the sacred right to vote"?
"James Baker stated that Bush has won all four counts - even by rules dictated by the democrats"
Oh Gosh, Mr. Baker. I'm beginning to appreciate just how hard this must have been! You've had to derail a democratic process not just once, but three (3) times! I hope they pay you overtime for this!

Re: Aloha
But what does this election snafu have to do with Democracy. IMHO, NOTHING!!!!
The election problems in Florida has, as you state, nothing to do with democracy. That is correct.
The way the two combattants relate to the problems, has to do with democracy (it reflects their views on a democratic process) and their views have, I regret to say, nothing to do with democracy either!
Neither of them seem interested in getting the most accurate result out of the Florida mess, but rather, try through populistic means to agrue and win popular support for the notion that the problems should be addressed in a non-optimal manner that would one-sidedly favor themselves.
You are therefore guaranteed that you will NOT get the most accurate count out of Florida. You could easily have gotten one that would be more accurate, but it's not deemed of interest by either side. That, most certainly, has to do with democracy (or rather, lack of it)!
KD
...And Aloha:
Laugh at your president all you want. But neither his b*** job, nor Kenneth Starr or Linda Tripp are indicators of the state of your democracy. Your elections for house, congress and president, on the contrary, are - very much so!...
The principle of democracy cannot be bent and is as quantized as molecular physics. You either have it or you don't! It is not a question of 100, 99 or 95%, it is either 1 or 0 - and it is, in my book, no laughing matter.
KD
Beginning to sound like a hairsplitting pest in red trousers ...I know...sorry for my aggressive style on this. Had I been a native english speaker, I would have argued this academic issue in more appropriate and impersonal academic terms
Re: Dick
A machine recount and a hand-count are very different things. I agree with a machine recount, but a hand-count opens it up to fraud.
We've had hand-count in Europe, ever since democracy was institutionalized. Numerous recounts have validated the hand-count over here, since we recount if the race between candidates have to be desided by less than a couple of hundred votes. Its trustworthyness has never failed - never!
I will not speak in favour of any one of your candidates - I believe Gore has rediculed his voters as much as Bush has and should leave you all with a sour taste in your mouths (considering that one of those two will ultimately win).
Gore: Democratic voters are more stupid than Republicans. They can't read a ballot and therefore voted for Buchannon, because they confuse him with me.
Moreover, Democratic voters, in contrast to Republican ones, can't punch a proper hole in a ballot - therefore, there should be a hand-count primarely in Democrat dominated districts (in what other ways can you interpret it? Unless he's saying he doesn't give a **** for democracy as long as he wins)
Bush: Democrats are not only stupid, as Gore says, they count even worse than they spell (re: Gore/Buchannon)! Moreover, they are corrupt and would, given the chance, fraud the handcounting to an extend that would make Al Capone look like an amateur. They lie! They steal! They are hardcore criminals and should not even have the right to vote, let alone count any!
Look - how difficult can this be? Machines can count ballots that are perfect, so let them do it! It is the vast majority of the ballots anyway! Then, go over, manually, the ballots that the machine says are invalid or it can't read. That'll leave you with so few ballots to count that you can group the counters two and two - one republican, one democrat and a state appointed supervisor to ask, when the read of a specific ballot can't be agreed on.
If both of the candidates wanted the correct count, this could have been over with already! Problem is that NONE of your candidates are remotely interested in the correct count for the state of Florida... Isn't it?...
The more I follow this debarcle on CNN, the more I think it's time we send some international observers to take a hard look at what's going on. Embarrasing as that would be for you, it would at the very least give you a president who actually won the state of Florida! As the situation has developed and continues to develop right now, I seriously doubt we'll ever end up knowing who actually DID win Florida...
Never mind the loosing side - can the voters of the "winning side" be happy with this?
I should hope not...
KD
Re: Dick and D'Bear
"The only resolution to what has developed in Florida is for Bush to still be ahead after Gore's selected Democratic counties have been hand counted..."
Nope! That's not democracy either. If there's a recount, it has to be total, all over the state. It can be done! Of course it can! Florida has a population size of Denmark and we went through a recount when Denmark woted "no" to the Mastricht treaty under the EU, back in the early nineties by the slimmest of margins. Of course it can be done and unless you do it, you will remain what Dick called "The laughing stock of the world"
The international humiliation that will bestove the USA if you don't stop screwing around now and begin to take yourselves and your democracy serious, will be worse than the international redicule of your justice system, during and after the O.J. Simpson trial (which in itself was just a da capo version of the von Büllow case which made you the focus of redicule as well, but less publisized, less televised and therefore less dramatical)!!
Imagine what would happen in the future, when the USA critisize China, South Korea, Taiwan, Columbia, Equador, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey or what have we, about their standards of democracy or the lack of standards... You'd be met with laughter so lound it'll ring in your ears long after you returned home! You can retire Jimmy Carter! There'll be nothing left for him to inspect in Africa or Latin America! What would he be comming for? To instruct whoever is considered "friends of America" on how to win an election by not counting the casted votes?
What would happen to future international agreements like the Dayton peace accords? The Kosovo agreements? The Israeli/Palestinian agreements? Who do you think should come to Washington to discuss peace and restoration of democracy again? You'd loose your right to the title "superpower"! - Who's in charge? That pends on the next in a long line of court cases, and the court case after that and the court case after that... because someone refused to have the votes of Florida counted properly...
Most of all, the redicule would fall on Bush - a president who possibly won the presidential post by having someone stop the vote counting. Here in Europe, that amounts to wote rigging and Bush would be considered as little more than a mafia boss by us!
If I was laughing about this, half a week ago, I'm shaking my head in utter frustration and dispair now. What the hell do you people think you're doing to yourselves, your country and the world?...AAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!

OT/ Latest from the political front:
Why did the chicken cross the road? Answers from:
VICE PRESIDENT GORE:
I fight for the chickens and I am fighting for the chickens right now. I will not give up on the chickens crossing the road! I will fight for the chickens, and I will not disappoint them.
GOVERNOR GEORGE W. BUSH:
I don't believe we need to get the chickens across the road. I say give the road to the chickens and let them decide. The government needs to let go of strangling the chickens so they can get across the road.
SENATOR LIEBERMAN:
I believe that every chicken has the right to worship their God in their own way. Crossing the road is a spiritual journey and no chicken should be denied the right to cross the road in their own way.
SECRETARY CHENEY:
Chickens are big-time because they have wings. They could fly if they wanted to. Chickens don't want to cross the road. They don't need help crossing the road. In fact, I'm not interested in crossing the road myself.
RALPH NADER:
Chickens are misled into believing their is a road by the evil tiremakers. Chickens aren't ignorant, but our society pays tiremakers to create the need for these roads and then lures chickens into believing there is an advantage to crossing them. Down with the roads, up with chickens.
PAT BUCHANAN:
To steal a job from a decent, hardworking American.
JERRY FALWELL:
Because the chicken was gay! Isn't it obvious? Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "other side." That's what "they" call it-the "other side." Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And, if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side." That chicken should not be free to cross the road. It's as plain and simple as that.
DR. SEUSS:
Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes! The chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed, I've not been told!
ERNEST HEMINGWAY:
To die. In the rain.
MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR.:
I envision a world where all chickens will be free to cross without having their motives called into question.
GRANDPA:
In my day, we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Someone told us that the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough for us.
ARISTOTLE:
It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.
KARL MARX:
It was a historical inevitability.
SADDAM HUSSEIN:
This was an unprovoked act of rebellion and we were quite justified in dropping 50 tons of nerve gas on it.
RONALD REAGAN:
What chicken?
CAPTAIN JAMES T. KIRK:
To boldly go where no chicken has gone before.
FOX MULDER:
You saw it cross the road with your own eyes. How many more chickens have to cross before you believe it?
FREUD:
The fact that you are at all concerned that the chicken crossed the road reveals your underlying sexual insecurity.
BILL GATES:
I have just released eChicken 2000, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook, and Internet Explorer is an inextricable part of eChicken.
EINSTEIN:
Did the chicken really cross the road or did the road move beneath the chicken?
BILL CLINTON:
I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What do you mean by "chicken"? Could you define "chicken" please?
GEORGE BUSH:
I don't think I should have to answer that question.
LOUIS FARRAKHAN:
The road, you will see, represents the black man. The chicken crossed the "black man" in order to trample him and keep him down.
THE BIBLE:
And God came down from the heavens, and He said unto the chicken, "Thou shalt cross the road."
The 'easy' part of this rally is over
Most of the hard hit stocks are now approaching their 50 day moving average from below. This IMO is where this 'rally' will meet it's first serious test. The 50 day moving average has twice before been the challenge that send many stocks onto new retreats during the time since the Nasdaq high in March.
Whereas I expect we'll break through, this time, I would be less than surprised if the first half of next week send some spasms through the market, while bargain hunters cash in, shorts pray in it and longs try to offer resistance.
Longs cannot win this battle if the market as a whole, doesn't join in.
Does it? So far, we've seen only average volumes on the Nasdaq. Today again, the volume was below 2 billion shares traded.
I can't check my numbers, but I don't remember a single day through Nov. last year where the volume was not above 2 billion shares on the Nasdaq - and that was some stock splits ago, also for several of the big players.
KD
Re: DIG falls back below NBCi
Any idea why they've been recovering so much better than DIG and have so much more volume?
I'm getting less and less convinced that this is the turnaround for the market, we've been waiting for.
The Nasdaq volume I've been looking for has not materialized and furthermore, the recovery has been first and foremost for the most over-sold items (...well...that would have been, of course, also if this WAS the turnaround...)
Too many tech items have been left behind, though. and so, I'm speculating that what we're seeing at the moment is a technical correction (that would explain the mediocre Nasdaq volume), before the 'real thing' starts. As for tehcnical corrections, it's the most oversold that will bounce the highest - the most oversold, being the once that have fallen the sharpest over the last six months, being NBCi, ICGE, CMGI and (dare I say it...) RRRR...
KD
PPS. I'm suspecting market to wait with 'the real thing' (or perhaps rather, the 'real volume') until after the election.
PS. You got your answer this morning by Hub Mail, Meme, and hey - that's a waste of both oil and massaging!<G>
Yo, Meme
I desided today that RRRR has now lifted so much from it's bottom that there's a good chance of loosing another 50% on it...<G> So, I stuffed my portfolio with some more!
With a bit of luck I'll beat you, this time around! -Of course, there's a real risk that it's all up from here and that I'll end up actually making money instead, but it's a risk I can live with <VBG>!...

Since we don't have much to bragg about, we can, of course, laugh at our competitors misfortune...
It's been impossible to post on Yahoo's boards all day! Whenever you try to post or reply to something, this is what you get:
"Oops! Our servers are a little grumpy now. The servers should be fine soon. (We promise!) Please try to repost your message in a few minutes."
Well, when first I tried, was five hours ago, now...
I can remember when we were going through much the same experience at GO, so I can imagine what Yahoo shareholders must go through now as they sit and wait to be able to post on their own message board.

Re: Important message to GO Money users!
It appears that the GO employees are too occupied, monitoring their closed down messageboards and deleting posts deemed improper.
Once they have finished that, they'll get onto updating a new and fancy version to post polls and furthermore reintroduce some newly designed links to the messageboards, so you can check your GO mail without first having to go to the "mypage" site...
Once they have done that - and run a beta version of it - then we'll see if they may, along the way, find the time to transfer the whole thing to MoneyScope - including the ( forever) closed down message boards.
All right, the last part was prank, but the first part (about the board monitors) was evidently NOT! (check out the old DIG board, if you still have the link, and assure yourself ...)

There are posters on the board who know BRCM far better than I do and you should address the question to them for a more in-depth answer than I could ever offer you. IMO, BRCM is one of the most prominent players in the wireless "last mile" game. Yes, it's a chip maker, but that's part of the game, too. Re: Aether systems
Oh my, KD, sounds like you've put yourself in some kinda hell. In quantum physics, does not the particle (for lack of a better way of saying it) decide whether it's positive or negative when you observe it?
That's correct. So peaking at my portfolio does make for some exitement at times. At times I can almost hear my portfolio speak to me in a Clint Eastwood kinda way "...But with a wireless portfolio, that can blow your head clean off, you gotta ask yourself "Do I feel lucky today?"" <VBG>
ON the other hand, affecting your stocks by simply looking at them does give you a certain feeling of power <VBG>
You may remember that I've been looking for stocks of companies that deliver "last mile" broadband to your door. They're not easy to find, so mostly, I've been tracking stocks like OCCF and AFCI for the lack of better. Then, lately, I found a company with an interesting speciality; Multi tenant broadband delivery! Considering that most people live (apartment blocks) or work together in large groups, the last mile broadband solutions (they have several) of TUT Systems looks interesting (and analysts think so, too).
But it's early days in this field as well and if you look at TUTS' 1year chart, you'll feel as seasick as you'll do when you see my wireless stocks...

Re: Aether systems
They are a leader in their specific field of wireless internet and delivers software, systems and stuff.
This is still a startup phase - so although they are leaders, the quarterly revenue is still on the level of two cifred mio, of which the first cifre is a 1 (one).
I don't know if you can get into this kind of stuff too early...Sometimes you simply deside a field hold so much promise you can't stay on the sideline all the time and just watch.
I got in at 200 and was tempted to sell again, when it hit 200, last time around and wait on the sideline for a quarter, but I stayed in.
Besides INSP, it is the one wireless internet play I find really worthwhile (INSP is also a leader in their field and one I eagerly await to buy into again, but it's still a bit expensive at this level - I would have liked to have it (back) at 10)
Otherwise, I am, as you know, into ADAP as a leading wireless broadband hardware supplier.
This is where I am in the wireless business.
KD
PS. If you check out the stock performance of those three, you'll see that I more often than not find it hard to sleep, either because I'm overly exited or because I'm totally shattered...
In the wireless field, there seems to be no such thing as a middle way. Somehow it appeals to me - it reminds me of the quantum physics I used to study at university. You're either 1 or 0, either up or down, but you're never but never somewhere inbetween...that would be against the laws of quantum physics...
Thanks, Meme
Check out the results of tonight of the wireless internet platform provider Aether Systems that I hold. Hopefully, this will send the on a charge again...
