<I already have almost 20 positions that are long term cap gains eligible and I'm not selling either.....
My goal is to qualify for the five year cap gain benefit that Zeev hepped me to and since I don't go into the land of margin but rarely, I'm definitely here for the duration.
Good luck.....>
Good luck to you to Dan. I have basically the same idea but my stocks are concentrated in an IRA so no taxes yet. So I want to hold my picks, the ones I have now for no more than a year. Then go into stocks that have good exploration potential along with current production for cash flow in one year from now. For the big move up in POG 2005 and 2006 and maybe 2007!
Dan can I pump CKG yet? <g> Just kidding. You know there is an old saying that you can never go back home. We have a lot of people pro traders, letter writers, etc. saying we may get a big sell off in the market and when we do gold stocks will go down too. The baby gets thrown out with the bath water. I am not buying it. I t may happen but things change this time if we get the market "meltdown" gold stocks just may climb like never before.
So I will publicly state we start getting a sell off in the general market I am holding my gold shares. LTBY. In it for the long haul. <g> I don't see $340.00 POG!!
. See the period? I don't see it period!!
That may be true and I forgot you have seen the ID. <G>
I agree. Except that I am the only one not a bozo on the bus. <g>
And my gawd Frank is the driver of the bus and that is SCARY!<g>
huesos,
Is penntrade all online or can you get a live person to place an order with?
tom
Frank here is the dollar gold call I was referring to:
http://www.siliconinvestor.com/stocktalk/msg.gsp?msgid=18784325
<<Rails...I'm thinking the USD is very close to bottoming, and I've been buying here and there in the market.
I'm looking for a huge correction in the PoG, seriously...a huge one
Getting back to the dollar I reckon it's now resting on support, so be careful with any and all gold speculations.
Regards,
Frank P.>>
Frank that was dated on April 1, 2003. Check out the next few charts:
XAU:http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=^XAU&t=1y Almost a steady upward climb since that bearish call.
POG. On April 1 we were at $320.00. A straight shot to $430.00 since then.
http://futures.tradingcharts.com/chart/GD/W
USD.http://quotes.ino.com:801/chart/?s=NYBOT_DXY0&v=d12
Dollar from about 99 around April 1 straight down to 85.75 or so.
I may have been wrong on the time period but a major dollar call you had made at one time went the opposite way for about 6 months when we had one of our best POG rallies. My point is and I know we have different styles is that I think we may get a dollar bounce in here but the primary trend is up for GOLD and down for the dollar in my opinion of course. Staying the course through the downs and ups has paid off quite well for me. But then again sometime the tide will turn and I better darn well be out of GOLD stocks for a long time!
I try to buy stocks like well I can't mention the one (basserdan asked me to cool off <g>)that may be result oriented vs POG driven so I am trying to have my cake and eat it too. So not manic depressive (yet) but bearish on the economy as a whole as only I have seen what I have seen working at my credit and lending desk the past 20 years. Will the over extension of credit and the total money supply ballooning of the past 7-8 years translate into continually higher POG?? I don't know of course but think it will.
I remain 100% invested in mining stocks still.
Tom
Frank one of your long dollar calls last spring or summer was a ways off the mark. As soon after you made it it went on it's 6 month long reverse of your call so be careful what you wish for.
Tom
Sounds like Slider wrote that for ya. <g>
Sounds good Dan I can turn down the volume. <g>
<but when CKG drills La Juliana with any positive results, the share price of Grayd resources should react violently>
I for am not that sure they will even drill julianna is why I made the comment in reference to your earlier post.
But what if CKG drills a property other than Julianna? If they hit on another property other than Julianna they may not drill it, just sell it as part of the package.
The more information the better. Brag away if a person likes their stocks. I do. GYD and AGI should both do well.
Dan as far as I know they are two completly different companies. One is goldeye and the other is golden eye.
Just buy CKG. <g>
amark,
I think we are on the same page. It always takes longer than you think for things to play out. I am a Fleck man myself. Seen too much "stuff" in the mortgage business which is one of the king pins to our economy to be a "happy" as some are about the future the next few years.
Either way go long the mining stocks. Sure we will have a major pull back but I have ridden out the dips so far. Just get out before the final dip. LOL.
Tom
Amark,
How can John take so many words to say what he does?
<I have written about the all-time highs in personal debt, although much of it is mortgage debt, which is not a bad thing, as more and more renters buy homes.>
I see this as much worse than he does and I have worked in the mortgage business for 20 years. 1. It may be cheaper to rent in a lot of areas. 2. He perceives debt now as no worse than in 1956 which is a joke. Our parents did not have credit cards and big car loans. 3.It also took about a 12-18 months of gross salary income to equal the cost of a home in the 50's. It takes 3-4 years of gross average salary to equal the median cost of a home now days. So things have gotten more expensive for the middle class.
Ol John the optimist (along with Frank) think things can roll along okay with the consumer and the government above their eyeballs in debt. I see too much debt as an anchor around their necks not an instrument to save the day.
tom
Volatile up today.
It only take a few words, we either: Go Up, Down, or stay flat. <g>
<Not yet a Taipan member? Find out how we could help you make six to seven times your money in 2004>
So Frank are you a Taipan member?? Sounds like a nice return. LOL.
I sold another 10K but you must not have liked my sell price.<g> I used the proceeds to buy NL.
Kastel,
I did okay in 2003 but most did much better % wise. I got too big a head etc. Made a lot of unnecessary trades. 2004 the YEAR!
Tom
LOL. That was great. <g>
If you go bearish on ARQ and sell you will be out of all mining stocks!!! Then on the outside looking in! At either a room full of bag holders or ankle biters. <g>
I sold a few today. <ng> Wanted something with a resource already in case of a down turn.
7 fold is a lot better than my 4 fold over time. Wow!
Amark,
Hulbert has a good read on things. We have a long ways to go. Buy the right mining stocks and go for the ride.
Look at my earlier picks. I never needed to change. HL at a buck. WTC at 60 cents USD, MFL at .75, RIC at 1.10. Heck I should never have traded out of them. <g>
I have my new stable and I think they will do well. CKG, AQI, INM, ORM, etc. etc.
Buy and hold and don't slice and dice.
Tom
You may be right but it is a stock pickers market. That is why I still own CKG. It may or may not weather any POG declines better than most. I also own other news driven mining stocks.
I had my best run to the upside in golds in December for the whole year of 2003 myself.
Frank where's the heat??? From heating oil? Nobody rubbbed ya.
Thanks for posting that Frank Much appreciated. Very much.
CBD is a weird stock. We will have news and the stock will fly. I sold most but not all CBD to buy CKG. Now looking to go the other way if CKG pops huge. Just on 15-20% of total CKG though. <g>
Let's see if it continues. CKG will have to have news or deflate.
Lot of people will be buying I may sell a bit but will holding a bunch no matter what. Lots of cash, good geos, good following, lots of properties reveiwed.
Tom
Blind luck on those returns. Yeah Kastel is a good guy maybe we should have him set up those trusts.
Kastel your fee? <g>
Frank,
I know I have been correct to be 100% in mining stocks since Jan of 02. Very close to 400% in 2 years. Others have made more but I am happy.
2004 to 2008 will make this run look like peanuts in mining stocks. I have no idea about the rest of the predictions. Just remember Frank I have spent 20 years in the personal and home mortgage credit business. I have seen enough to stay invested. I don't even have to know how to chart.
Tom
Randy spent last year looking at over 100 different properties. He staked a bunch. News should come some day.
A good call owning CKG. yeah baby!!!
Sorry Frank but wrong again.
Frank. LOL.
I am not sure but goldeneye may be privately held.
I could not pull either on up on Sedar.
You are welcome Dan. If anyone else can solve this mystery we maybe should follow Dan and buy some GGY.
Frank anybody can you help?
Dan look at properties on note three about pages 7-8-9 on this sedar filing from Dec 1 for CKG. It does mention goldeneye exploration ltd but I am still unsure if they are the same entities.
http://www.sedar.com/csfsprod/data42/filings/00595745/00000001/a%3A%5C0903sdsa.pdf
Let me know what you come up with. Of course if they are the same this helps CKG as CKG owns a large portion of goldeneye.40.7% So go CKG! <g>
EDIT:mystery cleared up. CKG owns goldeneye explorations you have bought goldeye explorations. <g>
