RIMM was a short fryer.....if there ever was one.....bears baked, cooked, covering..pain!
Always an exception,
Fletch .....nite nite board.....
Hey WLD,
I didn't think gaps filled myself until I saw it happen time after time and almost to the penny. Sometimes they blow right on thru the gap but because so many believe.......they become support when filled.....most of the time. The market has rules that don't make sense IMO but thats the way it is....like sell the great news. We most likely headed for a real good earnings run now.
Strap in your seat belts,
Fletch
We were so so over sold......"The Big Up".....sounds very fine to me...go wahz wolf pack!...
WLD..... We agree again... The other exchanges are somewhat immune to filling gaps...but the Naz...is fairly predictable....
Fletch
Look at AUO fer instance....gap city......20 day a buy.........we are all cool here!
My guts have no feelings......comfortably numb myself........
I've heard that over 90% of the Nas-gaps fill....the question then becomes when? I've learned not to become too anything...like bullish....with the market. If I have low expectations....I'm always happy.... With low rates and in an election year.......I'm bullish. The wahz projections have been excellent, we both agree. Futures are:
I guess I'll just wait-n-see,
Fletch
PS I like to stir the board into action a bit........love this board!
Hey Chris,
At least they said a lot of the same stuff I said <vbg>.
Now off on a different subject......when will the Naz gap fill? The chief says Wednesday....wahz says we in "The Big Up"......sounds cool huh? "The Big UP".....Yes! Me, I'll hold my stuff and watch from afar. Not many down days in the wahz projection.....we do for a good earnings run....... NT, HLIT, QCOM, JNPR, BKHM, SONSE, and yes.......go you little pos NENG.
If your not in yet................it's....
Buy the gap fill,
Fletch ;) and hold on...........till trim time.....
Hello WLD,
I'm not a hacker myself, so I can't speak for them hacks <ggg>. The way Windows was designed, to make it easily net workable, it is very simple to gain access and a lot depends on your network settings. You really need to use a firewall with Windows or ports are just left wide open. We have learned to make Windows work with routers, antivirus software, firewalls but expensively........
Most hackers run from Linux/Unix systems. Two million developers-hackers built Linux to make it a very secure OS. Layers of security are employed and Linux uses a root access system and you must have a password, so normal operators can't get into the system files. You have to have root privileges. On the other hand a Windows system can be damaged by the click of your mouse.
Fletch
Below is a couple months old now........are there more holes? Remember they didn't fix it right the first few tries.....did they get it right yet?????
Microsoft Warns of Critical Windows' Flaw
Tue February 10, 2004 04:09 PM ET
By Reed Stevenson and Elinor Mills Abreu
SEATTLE/SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) on Tuesday said a critical flaw in most versions of its flagship Windows operating system could allow attackers to run malicious programs on personal computers.
In its monthly security bulletin, the world's largest software maker warned that Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 were at risk and offered software updates to fix the flaws, which were given Microsoft's highest severity rating of "critical."
"It does affect all (current) versions of Windows," said Stephen Toulouse, security program manager for Microsoft's Security Response Center. "We're not aware of anyone affected by this at this time."
Marc Maiffret, co-founder of eEye Digital Security, the company that discovered the flaw, criticized Microsoft for taking more than six months to come up with a patch to fix the problem, particularly since the flaw allows an attacker multiple ways to break into a system and could do almost anything they wanted to the system.
"We contacted Microsoft about these vulnerabilities 200 days ago, which is insane," he said. "Even the most secure Windows networks are going to be vulnerable to this flaw, which is very unique."
In response, Toulouse said Microsoft needed to take time to make sure to get the fix right, especially given how pervasive the vulnerability is in the software.
"We wanted to make absolutely sure we were doing as broad an investigation as possible," he said.
Windows users can download the patch for the vulnerability from long link.
The obvious steps to take are to run Windows Update and install the patches to fix the vulnerabilities as soon as possible," said Craig Schmugar, a virus research manager at Network Associates Inc.'s (NET.N: Quote, Profile, Research) McAfee anti-virus unit.
The latest fixes for Microsoft's software are unrelated to the latest virus attacks by MyDoom and its variants, Schmugar said.
Great read Chris.......Thanks,
Fletch
Hey dieselfuel,
The hackers aren't after us little guys with PC's as much as they want to get into the big servers. How many Windows security updates do we need before we are really safe? I have my PC set to auto update and other then a rare virus or spyware found, really don't have much trouble either. I can also run Knoppix a Linux version given to me by my son in-law. This runs everything from the CD drive, which makes it very secure.......and it works very well.
Microsoft was in at the tech ground floor and took full advantage. Novell was there too but they weren't as smart. A very successful restaurant owner once said that if you feed the masses you dine with the classes but if you feed the classes, you dine with the masses. Bill Gates must think along those same lines.
Microsoft has a huge cash cow business but open source code is eating at them now. Because I believe charts paint a picture.....look at MSFT, NOVL, and RHAT. Anyone noticed the big adds, love my Microsoft software campaign lately?
Which looks stronger?,
Fletch
I'm not saying this won't ever go up.......
This one is extended but good earnings will do it........
YOU ARE DREAMING.........
MSFT is very hackable......why do they have so many updates?????
Windows sucks!
Fletch
PS Make the security companies very rich by using....come on and hack me windows,
Again,
anti VIRUS
Fletch
PS..Those who know..........love Linux...........cya
Linux.....the future! Even wahz says so....2004 the year of LINUX.
I have all of those.....and then some...... ;>)
Especially Horribly,
Fletch
PS Overloaded with horribly...........................LOL
It's healthy to maintain a sense of humor...I'm very healthy I guess...wishing ALL GOOD HEALTH!

Hey WLD,
Windows has all ports open begging hackers to come in..... I must give Bill Gates credit for super marketing prowess, to build his huge cash cow empire.
The foundation has some cracks now tho,
Fletch
wahz,
and fellow board followers.....The SUNW news is mixed..........
My SUNW in-law could get let go with the 9% trim. He's the newest hired in a department of 11 ng.
Walmart selling Linux OS systems with Sun Java...... http://tinyurl.com/1zig
These aren't as prone to hacking into running Linux as the government and IBM have found.
Is the MSFT empire a bit weaker,
Fletch
Thought I'd hang a moon.........below....maybe a couple....ggg
Hey dis,
My point wasn't that entries aren't important because they are.
It's more that not enough study and effort is put into when to sell. I'm super guilty of this and would like to better manage the ports.......trim more effectively.
<<<<You have posted some great heads up entry charts the past several months.>>>>
Thanks......but see what I mean. Just imagine us posting great trimming charts lol.
...............Spikes over gaps usually work well, double tops and the ol resistance top of box thing.
Too often cash poor,
Fletch
Look at WHT......should have trimmed that gap..........."They" knew I kept all! <GGG>
Look at this candle.......but huge gap........a trim now????
Hello wahz,
It would be very difficult for me to post much while working. I do monitor the board some tho. I really don't trade much either. I try to add when I think plays are low and trim some when extended. My posting of some charts is only to show the stronger ones. Selling is much harder then buying and too much effort and study is misplaced on when to buy IMO.
Not holding back,
Fletch
Hi dieselfuel,
Too low on cash myself these days but bought some SONSE recently. HLIT I've had for awhile and am green but not proud I rode it from 13 into the 8's.
It is a strong one tho,
Fletch
Hey dieselfuel,
I have my money on HLIT....... <VBG>
eyes too,
Fletch
Humor......very healthy......
HLIT flag
BKHM bottoming? 2 Support!
Say a few words about the rings around your Ur anus!....lol...
Hi lurker,
Thanks,
Please don't buy any now.........OK? Watch the 20 day for entry,
Fletch ....this was actually a coiled up wedge at 18. 20 could be a buy now or gap.
Sun power......tan anyone?
Nice charts...... ;)
Fletch
Did anyone out there catch AUO?
Showing the sector to be in..........
Fletch
I did say it was coiled and new highs soon......not over 20 yet............... oh look 20.20 AH..... I can predict?........
a little bit......but gap to fill...just luck...really...JNPR QCOM CYD MRVC LEXR even.. :)
20 LCD panels.....us River Rats can't afford that..... I was just kidding last night..... My "trailer" has 5 bedrooms and a river is a few miles away <ggg>. Opera is another kind of internet explorer that has as many windows open and running as you want and within one screen or page. Try it http://www.opera.com/ and or http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
I find both much better then IE, ;)
Fletch
PS.. I'm cheap too...that's why I have a few $......
Thanks wahz,
I was just wondering why we went from new highs soon to maybe only possibly 2000-2050 on this next pop. I was fairly sure you used more the just pattern recognition and am very very glad you do.
Please don't be mystified!
Thanks buddy,
Fletch
BTW I'm not looking for simple....but at times, KISS can be and or is better....G.... The best ideas are simple... none of us here are tho.........
Hey again Chris,
I like CNN because they give earnings, warnings, hot stocks, other stuff too. I run about 20 open windows at once in Opera's operating system. I also like using Mozilla Firefox with another 10-20 windows.
Fletch
Hey Chris,
Yes they have the NDX too...
It's from CNN Money AM Market Call
http://money.cnn.com/markets/morning_call/index.html
Fletch
I also use http://www.cme.com/dta/del/globex2.html?crl=f
In edit: Adding SnP
wahz......If you don't mind my asking, how do you come up the projections? My thoughts are that you mostly find old bull market charts and compare the old chart patterns to what fits us best now.
Do you use any other criteria at all?
Thanks,
Fletch
Looks OK so far....
Fletch........
OK....So....you've been talking about that AUO now...haven't you? Yes...Yes...I must confess (Fletch lives in a trailer down by the River...Sshhhh...river getting high too!).....the chart says compression....getting coiled up......a spring.....soon over 20?.......18 the pivot......OK OK don't listen to me.... but new highs soon...... NO predicts tho!
JMVHO,
Too Bullish Fletch....Snort!
Hey wahz.....real good news for us.....Go Bush.....did I say that? ggg Sure,
Fletch
Man did this one dive......brother says they'll be announcing they're out of debt soon......chart says not much good built in......I don't know about this one tho.....very risky....yes....V
Good info. Chris....thanks,
Fletch

PREVIOUS NEWS ANALYSIS
Talk of AFC Deal Is Back
Maybe it was a just a boring Friday afternoon, or maybe something is actually happening this time. Once again, there is talk that interested parties are looking at acquiring Advanced Fibre Communications Inc. (AFC) (Nasdaq: AFCI - message board).
Several sources say Wall Street circles are once again whispering about AFC as the target of an acquisition. The leading candidate is supposed to be Tellabs Inc. (Nasdaq: TLAB - message board; Frankfurt: BTLA). But other larger players, such as Nortel Networks Corp. (NYSE/Toronto: NT - message board), have also been known to be looking for the type of access product portfolio that AFC has to offer.
In January, Light Reading reported that Tellabs, which was an early AFC investor, was talking to the company (see Tellabs Angling for Access ? and AFC ). The two sides walked away amicably, but others may be lurking, according to some sources.
Tellabs CEO Michael Birck is on the record as saying that his company is interested in expanding its product portfolio. Access products, especially with the potential for FTTP (fiber to the premises) business, would be a natural way to do that.
AFC has been making deals at well. In January it closed a deal to buy Marconi Corp. plc's (Nasdaq: MRCIY - message board; London: MONI) access division (see Access Acquisition Boosts AFC ).
So why would a deal suddenly be on the table again? Well, the stock market has backed off since January, and AFC is trading off its highs. If price was the initial stumbling block to the deal, as was cited in several places, it may now be easier to get the deal done.
Tellabs is looking to expand beyond its core business, which includes mostly Sonet/SDH gear and some newer packet-switching products that it is developing via its aquisition of Vivace Networks (see Tellabs Unveils Vivace Sibling and Tellabs Snags Vivace for $135M ). AFC is one of the leading access players, along with Alcatel SA (NYSE: ALA - message board; Paris: CGEP:PA), so it fits the bill.
AFC has drawn a lot of attention lately for its FTTP contract with Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ - message board).
In an SEC filing a few weeks ago, AFC said it missed a February 23 product delivery, costing it a PCP (performance compensation payment) of $2 million (see AFC Fesses Up, Defenders Pipe Up ). ?We subsequently provided the required product release on March 8, 2004,? the filing states.
Wall Street analysts seem split as to whether the Verizon?s deployment will live up to the expectations of some, who think it will develop into a big growth area for AFC.
AFC did not respond to a request for comment, and Tellabs declined to comment.

Hey dieselfuel,
A bigger gap would make for a better Island Reversal. I also don't like gaps cause they usually fill....so mixed emotions on them.
Look at October's reversal with very nice Hammer Candle.......a classic...still open too.
Fletch
Two up days in one.......I'll take it :) .....need a few more.....<VBG>
