Sometimes it takes a long time to learn you have to kiss ass to get support.A friend of mine once told, when your in sales remember the person your dealing with makes less than you so learn to play the game and kiss ass. When your making millions it has to be harder to do.It just seems to me i have read more on mrvl over the last couple of weeks, has to count for something.
YES and the street was well aware of this long ago.THATS WHY IT DIDN'T GO DOWN FURTHER.
UP 12000 on mrvl today,If you people follow briefing.com news you would have noticed the last two weeks the effort by mrvl and support by others for the stock. The bottom was coming ,thats when i bought at more shares on friday at 10.54. What next tuesday new COF,today upgrade. This all tells me the company is working with the street now and the street is working with mrvl.As far as brcm not going down as expected guess what briefing sends out everything prior to the close. It's proactive as can be. 24-Jan-08 15:40 ET In Play Broadcom Earnings Preview (22.40 +1.22) -Update : Broadcom is set to report Q4 earnings after the close tonight with a conference call following at 4:45 ET. Current consensus is for EPS of $0.32 on revs of $1.02 bln... Analyst Expectations: Expectations appear to be mixed and cautious for Q4, with concern over slowing consumer demand exiting 2007 in US and Europe. Additionally, analysts comment that expenses for handsets could continue to weigh on profitability. In terms of guidance, analysts seem to agree that the company will issue a conservative, seasonally weak 1Q08 outlook... Recent Earnings History: Q3 (10/23): BRCM missed by $0.02, but beat on revs. On the call, the company guided product revenues to $960-$990 mln. The stock fell sharply the following day, gapping down at the open, and closer lower by nearly 17%; Q2 (7/19): BRCM missed by $0.02 and missed on revenues. The stock traded up marginally the next day; Q1 (4/16): BRCM beat by $0.02 and beat on revenues. The company issued downside revenue guidance for Q2. The stock traded down by more than 4% the next day... Key Metric for Q4: Gross Margin street expectation is 52.4%... Areas of Focus on the Call: 1) Revenue and Margin Guidance: Historically, the company issues revenue guidance for the upcoming qtr. Additionally, the company should provide sequential gross margin guidance in general terms, i.e., up or down. On BRCM's Q3 call, the company said they expect Y08 gross margins in the "middle band of 50 to 52"; 2) Nokia EDGE Wins: UBS noted that EDGE wins may be ramping slower than they had anticipated, which would be a negative for 2H08 growth rates; 3) Consumer Demand/Macro: 1H08 is the seasonally slower period, but due to weakness in US consumer spending, guidance should be muted; 4) Litigation: The ongoing lawsuits with Qualcomm (QCOM) will likely be a topic on the call. Recently, BRCM scored a win against QCOM when a judge issued an injunction against QCOM's infringement on 3 BRCM patents related to its cell phone IC business... Consensus: Q4 EPS $0.32, revs $1.02 bln; 1Q08 EPS $0.29, revs $998.17 mln, 2Q08 EPS $0.31, revs $1.05 bln, FY08 EPS $1.15, revs $3.77 bln; FY08 EPS $1.35, revs $4.38 bln... 07:10 MRVL Marvell: Friedman Billings raises Q1 ests on strong channel checks; stock likely oversold (10.85 )
Friedman Billings notes recent production checks show increasing order strength at MRVL as hard disk drive chip demand remains robust. Firm is raising their 1Q rev forecast from -7% QoQ previously, to down -5.5% QoQ, with FY09 EPS ests increasing from $0.62 to $0.65. With the stock now trading below $11, firm believes MRVL is nearing oversold conditions. However, firm is maintaining their Market Perform rating given that macroeconomic fears are still rampant. Longer term, the firm needs to address its 'opex gone wild' investment strategy and meaningfully grow revs in its Xscale and nascent business segments.
07:11 Friedman Billings provides industry checks on PC, iPod, iPhone, and related chip sellers
Friedman Billings notes PC datapoints are a bit mixed with strong notebook trends, but there is some slight softness in desktop shipments in the channel and in the U.S. Firm views these declines as purely seasonal and not yet suggestive of any significant macroeconomic impact. Second, checks show iPod/iPhone production builds should decline by roughly 50% QoQ in 1Q, reflecting the very seasonal nature of these products. Firms exposed to either the iPhone or the iPod include BRCM, MRVL, SWKS, CSR, IFX, Samsung Electronics, and SSTI. Third, production checks show increasing order strength for MRVL, stable order momentum for SLAB, and weakening order momentum for LSI and BRCM. Fourth, while LSI is beginning to look cheap, firm thinks declining order momentum and increased competition in SAS based servers make LSI less desirable than similarly priced peers like FCS or ONNN.
I don't know how true it is but the last 2 times the market did go down.I find it interesting,so now I watch.Gee if Hilary wins maybe the market would go up.
Have you ever heard from past history. Each time the PRESIDENT leaves the country the US market goes down. This came to me from a trader out of New York, that has been trading for 40 years.Would be interesting to back track that history. It is stange how we have the weakest week in the markets history and the PRESIDENT in the middle east.Do you think the market was concerned, food for thought.
Bullish Harami
The bullish harami is made up of two candlesticks. The first has a large body and the second a small body that is totally encompassed by the first. There are four possible combinations: white/white, white/black, black/white and black/black. Whether they are bullish reversal or bearish reversal patterns, all harami look the same. Their bullish or bearish nature depends on the preceding trend. Harami are considered potential bullish reversals after a decline and potential bearish reversals after an advance. No matter what the color of the first candlestick, the smaller the body of the second candlestick is, the more likely the reversal. If the small candlestick is a doji, the chances of a reversal increase.

09:11 MRVL Marvell: BWS Financial believes that there remains a good possibility of MRVL beating the consensus for the quarter (11.14 )
BWS Financial notes the market decline over the past few weeks has pushed shares of MRVL not seen since 2004. Firm notes co has a more diversified business than four years and all segments continue to show positive traction. There are concerns with MRVL having the ability to post sequential earnings growth in the first half of 2008. Currently, the storage, communication, and phones business are doing well to lead firm to believe that there remains a good possibility of MRVL beating the consensus. The quarter ends at the end of January for MRVL giving the Street some insight into the possibility of the quarter when MRVL's customers report fourth quarter results later in the month.
08:34 RIMM Research In Motion: New Blackberry to mimic iPhone - Toronto Star (96.44 )
Toronto Star reports it's not exactly an iPhone-killer, although that could still be in the works, but the co appears set to launch a new BlackBerry that mimics some of Apple's (AAPL) design cues, according to information leaked on the Internet. A Vodafone document that details the carrier's 2008 handset lineup has been posted on several websites and includes, among other things, a photo of a yet-to-be released BlackBerry wireless email device. The leaked RIM offering, which comes as some analysts say the so-called smartphone category has finally reached a critical threshold, retains the BlackBerry's traditional look of a full-sized keyboard and smaller screen, but adopts the iPhone's sleek black and steel motif. Smartphones generally combine traditional cellphone functions with data applications such as email Web browsing. The Wi-Fi and GPS-enabled device will be "BlackBerry's new flagship device targeted at senior execs," when it goes on sale in May, according to the Vodafone document.

Divx Founder Resigns From Board; Company Doing a Rethink on Stage6 Spinoff
Friday December 21, 1:06 pm ET
By Rafat Ali
DivX (NasdaqGM: DIVX - News) certainly had its share of activity this year, even if most of it wasn't all that great: it went public a little over a year ago, and has bought a few companies since then. In an attempt to arrest its financial troubles, in July, it decided to spin-off its user-generated video unit Stage6 into its own company. Now, the founder Jordan Greenhall, who was replaced as CEO with the planned Stage6 spinoff (where he would have taken the CEO position), has resigned from DivX's board and chairmanship. No specific reason was given. The company expects to appoint a new chairman at the next board meeting.
Meanwhile, Stage6's existence is now going through a rethink..the spinoff was supposed to be completed by end of this year. The company couched its second thoughts in this language: It "expects to take additional time to consider the alternatives available to the company related to the future of the Stage6 service." It will decide by Q1 next year, it says. The company had allocated $4 million in costs for potential spinoff last quarter

Amtech upgrades BRCM to Buy from Neutral saying BRCM shares have dramatically underperformed, declining nearly 40% from its highs a few weeks ago. At current levels, the firm says they are buyers of the stock. The firm says they may be early in upgrading on a fundamental basis as there might be more bad news to follow; however, they believe shares at these levels adequately discount much of this news.
