Not the board to be placing this obviously but in response and the spirit of Christmas. Not entirely true. It's basically a 4 year moratorium but even then you can get around this if your spouse has not held ownership.
Care to guess what I do for a living lol. Cheers!

I hear you as well and for the most part agree. Ultimately though i just don't think it matters. Just like the change from prohibition of alcohol the greedy corps will win and in the end there will be little choice and the hipsters, old hippies etc. who are for the most part entitled and lazy will just go with the man like they always have and buy it from gov mandated LP's or dispensaries that can only carry LP pot. This is the same group that will cheer Emery on but never in the numbers needed raise a hand to march or open up a compassion club or go to jail for the cause but they will take the martyrs money making buds as he tosses them out and pray at his funeral.
I am a conflicted capitalist as Inhave children but at the end of the day I am a capitalist as shown by my participation in this board. Lol. Cheers.
My understanding is it's going ahead but who knows. The hold up has been that the TSX only opened up 4 letter tickers as of November 1. Bruce has said he was going to do it....from what I gather he didn't want someone else to take it first...which they would have. From a global sense it's a good marketing ploy it will be all over the news and spread like an ear worm imo. Having said that I agree it is not as good as Canopy but it's still just a ticker.

No it certainly does not change the technicals. However if I followed only the technicals I would have missed out on many opportunities in the past.
Wow you are really on a tear between here and stockhouse over the last couple of days Brent. One might say you are trying to devalue your CGC shares lol. I still see a great company where nothing has changed materially for the worse on its own or in comparison to its peers. Cheers.
Thanks Dewd. Any links you could provide to support that would be great. Don't get me wrong...not doubting it but really would love as many back ups to the idea as possible.
Thanks Kelvin. I had seen that but forgot about the comment by Bruce. Aphria of course would disagree but it makes sense to me.
Thanks. Some comments in this regard on other boards suggest that there is no difference because all greenhouse grows supplement with Lights anyway. Tough to find concrete eveidence to look at this factually it seems.
Can anyone clarify for me how many harvests per year an indoor facility like Canopys at the Hershey factory vs say Aphria's greenhouse facilities would be? Assuming square footage same...assuming this is even a possible comparison. Curious as to how this would affect the cogs going forward.
Excellent...won't be long before those dispensaries are selling LP marijuana. No surprise there...the dispensaries gross sales across the country are priced into future projections.
Thanks. Cheers.
Hey Tweedlede. Considering your post and CGC's relationship with EAT do you think there is acquisition possibilities there now? Or am I just reaching and maybe Canopoy doesn't need them other than consultation.
It certainly could but not necessarily. That is the exact reason to push the MT deal through...increase active licences and CURRENT production square footage. With Mettrum, Canopy will hold 6 out of 36 current licences I believe. Add to that amendments to existing licences for expansion which Bruce has already stated the 120 million cash is for and the Goldman expansion plan...wholla you have a massive lead on production space STARTING in 2017 not begining in 2018 like some other companies. Bruce stated in an interview yesterday that Canopy needs to TRIPLE in size right now...this is in the works. If he can pull it off...you have a monopoly on the market regardless of how may little players Health Canada ads. This does not even take into account the seemingly endless international plays as more and more countries start to follow Canada's lead of medical first...rec will follow in each country.
The argument against CGC is that they cant pull it off...that massive monopoly 1000 lb+ Gorilla strategy. Only time will tell but there is no denying that so far they have. Those betting against CGC are just as speculative as those betting for CGC.
Obviously I am for.
Could be but I think it will be sooner than anyone expects. Let me counter with this:
You may find this quote from Dr. Ware, the vice chair of the task force very comforting - I do. This was an interview done after the press conference yesterday:
Question:
"You refer to the complexity of concerns on both sides. The report is very extensive. Do you have any thought on the ease or complexity for the government to process all of this info and be able to craft new legislation that they can present by spring of 2017?"
Answer:
“We’ve worked closely with a Secretariat, who have been — and I have to say, unbelievably hard working and supportive in helping us get the work done that we’ve been able to finish today — and I think that recognizing that the Secretariat has already got its eyes on the next phase of this process, the report, now that its public, now that it goes to the Ministers, clearly there will be impetus for government to take this and run it forward, but I don’t think we should be under any illusions that some of the groundwork is already underway.
“I obviously can’t speak for the government and wont, but I think they recognize the urgency of getting things moving quickly and we have reflected to them the importance of getting some of the research and education efforts up and running as soon as possible even as the legislation is being drafted.”
https://news.lift.co/dr-ware-on-task-force-and-moving-forward-with-legalization/
Interesting take. I will have to mull that over. I hope not as well. Or it could just be that we have exponentially increased clients again and there just is no stock?
What's that you say Bruce? Triple in size for 2017? Our CEO has been a busy man today with interviews. BNN, CBC I think right now and The Loop. Missing any?
http://video.theloop.ca/watch/profits-of-selling-marijuana-legally/5246807012001#.WFCQabTOehA
That's what I took from it. Why not if you are allowed to mail order it direct what's the difference. Main take away here though in regards to store front is 1) it's still just a recommendation and 2) looks like provinces will decide that individually.
Just silly. The recommendations limit the producers advertising but not the consumers. Don't you know where most of the marketing dollars are spent now? Social Media. Facebook is where most people get their news regardless of wether thats a good thing or not. No regulation can deter the branding that consumers already do online...all an LP needs to do is have the widest range of quality supply and consumers will brand it for them. Further more Snoop Dog has become who he is for exactly this reason...when was the last time you saw a Snoop billboard or add in that newspaper thing you read whatever that is.
Perfect so the only people in the world that will not actually know whats said is BNN lol.
Stellar work Tweedlede. I was wondering about that. I will review.
Most likely correct. Either way it doesn't matter. Haines clearly thinks it was the right thing to do for MT shareholders.
Clearly this is correct. What I do not know is this:
The question on Haines interview was "Will you be selling your 2 million shares?". This I did not imply Haines had 2 million MT or CGC so I am not sure which it is. I imagine someone can clarify this.
True dat.
Danielle Day Lewis I think?
Wow. Ok then. If I ran my companies by that logic and strategy I would not be here taking on a forum about shares I own because I would be broke. I certainly respect your opinion though. Cheers man.
Well I dont pull this stuff out of thin air like some people. In conversion you would be right. We will agree to disagree i guess. I believe in Haines which is why I must believe in his decision to join CGC. By your logic it occurs to me you should get out of MT and CGC because either way the vote goes you must have lost faith in your CEO if you cant support his decision.
Haines is a smart guy. This video is where he clearly articulates why its a good thing, what a potential position would be in CGC and what he will do with his 2 million shares.
http://www.bnn.ca/commodities/video/mettrum-ceo-why-i-sold-canada-s-no-2-weed-grower~1008182
It was a great interview indeed. One of the reasons I have always liked MT is Haines. From my standpoint this is a win win for both companies. Good leaders surround them selves with ones that are arguably better than they are. Haines has already publicly stated he will be keeping his 2 million shares of CGC and alluded to the fact that he will have a position in CGC...this remains to be seen of course. If Bruce is the man he says he is then he will use the skills of Haines to further the cause of CGC. Time will tell of course and like everyone else we are all betting on something. Most of the great companies I have dealt with in my sphere of influence were succesful not because of the leader but the people that work with him. A CEO can not be all things its just not possible...the main thing a CEO needs to be imo is a visionary as long as he is able to gather and listen to those that have superior skills in certain areas. Everything is about BALANCE...you cant be to conservative and you cant be to aggressive. We will know in the next 6 months if CGC has the right balance...I believe they do but if not I will sell my shares.
Certainly warranted skepticism on the party but im not sure its as warranted on the individual. I think he is his fathers son in a lot of ways and while its a new time with a new generation that requires different methods of reaching out the apple has not fallen far from the tree. JT will go his own way misguided or not and his stance on MJ is nothing but a continuation of his fathers beliefs as the intellectual savior of all things. PT was pro MJ, while not in exactly the same context as today he was.
As far as the drama teacher thing goes well i have always chalked that up to him needing something to do with his time lol. I think he is a lot more savvy then people give him credit for...frankly more than he consciously realizes...like him or hate him he had a hell of a teacher in his father and the younger the generation the less they realize or know about that.
As far as economics go I am not a supporter of JT but in marijuana he may well prove to be an accidental economist for the better imo LOL.
Lol. A bit of cut and past with respect to the task force terms of ref. No I dont think the gov will jump the gun in stating their position and the task force was just an "opinion" excersice that does not have to be adopted by gov. But the task force recommendations will be taken by many to be gospel I think by some.
Personally I think the report will be used by gov to feel out the provinces as the public has already voted on the matter so to speak. The reactions to the reccomendations by the various politicians, industries and lobby groups will help the PM decide if he can get away with fast tracking his agenda of "protecting youth and stopping organized crime" - he needs to do this one way or another in a fashion that saves face and gains the most political capitol for re-election down the road.
The longer he can show rec working well before the next election the more he helps his cause and shelters the liberals against the train wreck of the economy. Another poster in a different forum said to me something this morning that I had not thought of and now feel silly because it seems so obvious to me after reading it.
"It is a recession proof business. Actually gainful in that event. More beer and smoke for the unemployed and more prescriptions for depression. Lol"
What interests me to see the most is not the report because I think its pretty clear it will favour LP's but will gov decide to up the rec game timelines via mail order....start before 2018. Its a stretch possibly but I cant help thinking that its a way for PM to fast track things and save face. For me the most interesting thing about the report will be its position on dispensaries, especially the current ones. Reccomend they are shut down? Recomend they stay but with LP product? Maybe it will not clarify this position at all but they certainly had it spelled out in their terms of reference:
"Possible Options
1) Phased-in approach to distribution: In the initial stages of legalizing marijuana, only allowing a proven system of distribution (e.g., through the mail, as is currently done in the medical marijuana regime) could minimize the risks of uncontrolled/illegal retail sales outlined above. This system could enable access for adults while using caution in taking a step that may inadvertently put youth at increased risk.
2) Storefronts: On the other hand, allowing for some ability for the sale of marijuana to occur in a legal, regulated retail environment may be required in order to provide an alternative to the current illegal sellers that exist in certain Canadian cities. Ensuring that the marijuana sold in such establishments comes from a legal source would be critical.
3) Local choice: Alternatively, decisions on appropriate distribution mechanisms could be left to provincial and territorial governments to determine the best approach based on their unique circumstances. This scenario could result in different models being adopted across the country."
Curious what your speculation is regarding the task force reporting when it arrives. I am positive on it but I think a lot has already been baked into the price...hard to say.
Great your conundrum is solved. See you when you get back. Cheers.
The guiding principal of all stocks is greed. Nothing new here.
The deal will go through and all the math you want to crunch does not change the deeper reasons of the long term stategy. I could go into it but its been said over and over on this board and others. I believe and you dont. That's fine, you may be right but so far your arguments have not convinced me and i am humble enough to be convinced.
The larger question to my mind is if you dont think this will go through why not just sell your positions in both companies? Either buy someone else your dd suggests is the lead play or wait for the share prices of both companies to drop and buy back in one of them then.
I think you favor MT and since you believe the deal will fall then sell now...make a buck and buy back in when it drops back to its pre acquisition value after the deal is voted down.
I'm not sure about that but it could be. I know it's negotiated where I live when new industry comes in. I do believe though that CGC built a bio fuels hydro plant at the Hershey Factory to supplement power and feed back into the grid...at the very least I know they applied for the permission to do it a while back. I didn't follow up though on it. If anyone wants the link to the application I imagine I have it somewhere in my bottomless pit of marijuana links and could dig it out.
Ok I found it The latest cost per gram review. It definately needs improvement. February's 3rd quarter review will be very telling in regards to the direction of CGC cogs.
For the 3 months ended September 30, 2016 CGC had a cost per gram of $2.77.

Good read no matter which company you back:
http://business.financialpost.com/midas-letter/bought-deals-in-canadas-marijuana-business-show-an-industry-rapidly-maturing
This is true almost everywhere in Canada except Saskatchewan which is why I really wonder why nobody has picked up on the greenhouse idea in SK.
Hey Brent. I think the MT aquisition was about ready to go harvest and immediate production for market share...especially if the long shot of Mail order rec before the end of 2017 comes into play. You are certainly right on the greenhouse cost. I suspect and only time will tell that the cash on hand with this MT deal (120 milllionish I think if the deal passes) goes to expansion of existing locations and amending current licences while the goldman deal is for new western canadian locations.
No doubt though that cogs needs to come down and APH is leading that charge. It is a wait and see though for now - likely end of February we will see the answer.
