Delta Petroleum settles lease litigation with govt
Dec 17 (Reuters) - Delta Petroleum Corp said it will receive gross proceeds of $65 million from a settlement with the federal government with regard to lease payments on its offshore property in California, sending its shares up 16 percent.
The independent oil and gas company, which is currently exploring strategic alternatives -- including a possible sale of the company -- expects to receive about $50 million in net proceeds, after all contingent payments to third parties.
Shares of the company rose to $1.48 before paring some gains to trade up 17 cents at $1.45 Thursday morning on Nasdaq.
In a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission in November, Delta said the government had earlier prohibited lease bonus payments for Lease 452, alleging the drilling of wells in an adjacent lease had drained a significant portion of hydrocarbons.
The amount of lease bonus payments attributable to Lease 452 is about $91.4 million, the company had said in the filing.
"The settlement agreement fully concludes Delta's offshore California litigation against the federal government," the company said in a statement. So you did get in because of Chartinator?
If so, track your results from him.
Go back to his June and see who else got in - sea j , learning---, bunch more they all announced it. - bought in at .002, ended up selling at .0005.
75% loss. Going to take a 400% hit to make that back.
IMO - this is the game people like him suck people into.
If the whole herd gets the news and the same time,, then everyone is getting in too high. Reality hits and they all speed up the drop. Even a Dr. John L. Faessel's picks are not buy and hold - they have a 30% run you take out your priciple. Leave your winnings if you really think the company has possiblities. He researches micros, and small companies- writes newsletters that go to brokers mostly. I got burned on a few medical technology picks of his about 4 years ago. Not bogus r/s action but medical is hard. He puched IVN long ago when Mongolian Gov tried to put on a 35% surcharge - ,,doing better now ,but political considerations are really important there. It has taken years for them to understand that if they want the wealth in the minerals and oil that is in the ground,, it takes a partnership wtih those who will take it out. IVAN also going in for Oil. I have been an IVAN holder but don't trust Mongolian Gov to be far enough along ot really still trust the compnaies.

However, no one expects Silenor to be a blockbuster (over $1B) drug. I would think that Silenor is a better alternative than off-labe use of regular dose doxepin, trazodone ($60M generic), quetiapine (over $200M for insomnia), olanzapine (over $200M), and other (patients do not do well with Ambien...). It is an easily $200M product if the company partners with an established marketing group. Assume that the company gets the follwoing:
$20M upfront
25% royalty from the deal
sales of $75M first year, $150M 2nd year, peaked at $200M 3rd
7 years of product life
NPV with 15% discount rate put the company at $180M, a conservative number.
But look, one can come up with many other numbers based upon assumptions. I am for one who believe that a FDA approval will lift the PPS in range of $8-10.
SOMX ($2.24) traded as high as $3 AH on heavy volume...FDA approval for Silenor is expected on Dec 4th...Lots of noise on teh boards. The following taken from TheLion.Com by King Lion himself. This could be huge. Put on your radar as it could move fast....Aggie.......

First Alliance deal (or Buyout) pre-market on Monday ??? 30-Oct-09 12:04 pm I haven't gone out on a limb lately and made any predictions ... today, I'm gonna predict DSCO will announce good news Monday pre-market ... its either gonna be the first Alliance deal, or an outright Buyout ... I'm hoping for an Alliance deal (& which I believe has a 2x greater chance of occurring than an outright Buyout), and with the deal parameters I'm expecting, DSCO will immediately trade north of $4/share on the news, and will top-out somewhere north of $5/share.
Today is a good day for DSCO, Monday could be considered the best day!
