ZigBee's improved spec incompatible with v1.0

TAIPEI, Taiwan — The ZigBee Alliance released an updated specification Wednesday (Sept. 27) that should help system developers targeting the home automation market. But those interested in large-scale deployments in the industrial and building-automation markets may opt to wait for another release, due early next year.
Called ZigBee 2006 or "enhanced" ZigBee, the update includes some significant changes from the spec first issued in 2004. Those changes mean that the two versions are also incompatible, which could cause problems for companies that already have products in the market.
Alliance members were quick to downplay the incompatibility issue, saying that there aren't many products on the market at this early stage of ZigBee development and that the new spec's incompatibility probably won't matter much even for companies that have already rolled ZigBee offerings. "Most of the ZigBee 2004 implementations are in confined spaces . . . where interoperability isn't high on the priority list," said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance and chairman of the IEEE 802.15 Working Group on Wireless Personal Area Networks.
Future releases of the spec will be backward-compatible. Heile also noted that it is possible to create a compatibility mode if developers are willing to increase memory to run a slightly larger code base. "Then you can have complete compatibility," Heile said.
One of the main differences between the 2006 and 2004 versions is a change in the addressing scheme, said Andy Wheeler, chief technology officer of Ember Corp., a provider of ZigBee chips and software. ZigBee is meant to accommodate 65,000 nodes on a network, but developers found that the larger networks were becoming unstable over time. That's because initially ZigBee used a tree structure for addressing, which restricted the number of addresses to well below what was theoretically available, Wheeler said.
In the 2006 spec, a random addressing scheme is used, with built-in address conflict resolution.
That will be key to large deployments of ZigBee in industrial markets because it allows for many more network nodes. However, developers in the industrial market may still wait for the ZigBee Pro stack, which will include features aimed at industrial and commercial building automation, such as higher levels of security and improved frequency hopping.
Most of the leading makers of 802.15.4 radios using the ZigBee protocol stack believe that development will begin to move more quickly toward full ZigBee implementation now that the 2006 version has been finalized. Until now, most of the activity has been for 802.15.4, with proprietary protocol stacks and applications.
The 2006 spec is immediately available to ZigBee Alliance members. It will be released to the public in the first quarter.
thats why i'm here.....gosh darn gene...time for some young strong honest kick azzezz blood!!!! IMO only>>>>slipped my mind..
i surrender...thats the only way to win!!
me? i'm short and long..
only!! to make money here and elsewhere...even ebay!!
so, i'm in big when she hits the new low, my estimate late dec, if she repeats herself....so far past two years she has.
good luck and i hope you dont have all your monies here, remember she's a pink, 87+os, 200as, many pp's and no firm finances..
time takes time...for sure an all time new low is in the near future....go back to rb and check atco predict survey...ok so my timing is off on the single didit...cant get it all on time..but if i were to collect all the pro pump posts...well!! btradin you know who the winners are.. it is extremely obvious!!!!..stick with the winners...you win when shes up and when shes down, unless your married to a stock...so when the flames come, make sure you are non-bias and do what you must...ok??
good luck
my projections havent been off in the past 7 months...ive walked this down from 40 and continue to vision a year before anything...regardless what you say, abew will continue depression until the 3 biggies are resolved!! and that my friend will take more then "several weeks" stated by the president in the beginning of june 2006. we have seen several months go by and nil!
have a good day
how's about buy @17 and lower to follow...maybe richard knows something we dont!!
if you say so!! but when you call someone a rat, to me it the same as a despicable scumbag, lowlife, stinker, slimeball, bum, etc......but as the moderator you condon calling a poster a rat....i'll keep that in mind the next time a pumper lies!!!
thanks
hey btradin,
does this qualify for deletion??
there's no pecking order here as you said...correct??
thanks
agree...go to the board for answers. i have had most of my questions answered somewhat complete, with the exception of one. and that was; that i asked gene where he thought (honestly) abew would be next year?? now! some will say that who knows about the future? but if abew has a business plan, the answer should have been easy.
if more shareholders ask the board questions, we may learn more. but, why does gene only answer questions?? oh, and atco too!!
good luck
"The SEC staff are not technologists...."
i know for certain that the sec have consultants to review any technical concerns!!! parker should know that.
sounds good to me, but be nonbias....and yes the single digits are probable...at less a new time low soon....mark my words on this one...
dont work too hard
well here your competent imo....i dont go much elsewhere!!
ok well delete 4me's 5$ per share, off pinks soon, blast off and all other nonfactuals....pumps, that may or may not be paid!!!
makes no difference to me or the direction abew's headed....imo you are an unfair bias moderator who picks and chooses against any negative posts, but allow ALL pumps ever personal attacks, though they may be politicaly correct, they are attacks, just like you last one......this is quit apparent...nono has a bit more dignity to express both sides...you on the other hand is ALL pro and to have you as a moderator is unfair to the skeptic who has lost faith in abew's management, but not the technology and the potential of abew under better learership...
let me rephrase my deleted post...."are you that naive to listen to any pumper of a pink, 85+mil. os, @ teens/share, and no monies stock"??
sorry if you or any other non-bias poster took offense...
the fact is that not one post pumping abew has been deleted, only obvious posts of current abew situation with a negative spin....that are negative due to the fact that abew and management have delivered only empty promises!!!
good luck

I'm unsure about the question since we do not have an "application" with the SEC. However, the SEC has responded to our response to their earlier comments and have issued additional comments which will be answered this week. Several comments are new topics and the remaining are additional comments on prior issued comments requesting more detail.
exactly!!! why my one year prediction if at all is a probability!!!!
good luck
look at you calling the kettle black....all your pumps have been the same as you say gr's speculations are..why such double standards and why twisting of meaning when you are so so pro...the pink thing, the 5$ thing, the 9/15 thing..i honestly think like i posted earlier about probability and chance..it will take a year before management gets the house in order and visitors arrive.
not to continue to disagree with you, but facts are facts and the current status is as i have posted...now what can anyone do to move this stock up???? nothing but hold for a year if anything.....
good nite
we can all post probability or chance...abew probably will be bk'd by the end of the year..abew probably will be 1000$ pps by 2007,,,,abew etc...
but to not call a pump a pump imo is naif!!!!
to date (presently) abew is a pink sheet stock with 85+million os trading at 18 cents/share...now if i were to calculate the probability based on the past and present expressing the ratio of favorable cases to the whole number of cases possible, abew will reach a new time low in the single digits....and that is not a lie....i guess!!!!
disclaimer: i did not use a calculator.....so do your own calcs~
agreed...one year is my projection...but also remember the pumpers with, off pinks in days, 5$ pps next month, take off after 9/15....these are not facts and you must also address that!!! so lets be nonpartisan please..and delete such nonsense and outright lies!!
good luck in the next year..
Good Morning,
your not indicating that only pro abew posts are accepted here, are you?
not is all good with this stock and if only good is accepted, arnt there private boards for such?
this is not an argumentative post, i want to set the record straight.
thanks
fwi..

The manufacturers of Home Control and Automation products based on ZigBee, Z-Wave, and other RF-only technologies face significant litigation risk from a major industry participant. A new Report by WTRS, "Residential Wireless Control Network IP and Patent Report," examines in depth the substantial business impact of litigation on this market segment.
Mountain View, CA (PRWEB) August 2, 2006 -- The manufacturers of Home Control and Automation products based on ZigBee, Z-Wave, and other RF-only technologies face significant litigation risk from a major industry participant. A new Report by WTRS, "Residential Wireless Control Network IP and Patent Report," examines in depth the substantial business impact of litigation on this market segment.
Residential Wireless Control Network IP and Patent Report
The typical deterrents to acceptance of Home Control and Automation technologies are readily identified as low reliability, high cost, difficult installation and use, as well as the absence of an easily identifiable end customer value proposition. A previously unidentified risk, more difficult to overcome and hence more deadly to the industry and its innovation sector, is the control of key intellectual property assets covering RF-only solutions by the Lutron Corporation.
"Lutron owns a significant portfolio of patents and other intellectual property, including brand names, industrial designs and product dress, and their use of this portfolio to protect their business is very impressive," says Dr Kirsten West, Principal Analyst of WTRS. Lutron seems to be playing their cards very close to their chest, and with admirable skill and success. "Lutron is quietly but successfully protecting their intellectual property assets in the area of wireless lighting control; any company that hopes to establish markets in this field ignores Lutron at their peril. To be aware of Lutron’s tactics and expertise is just plain smart business," says West.
The ‘Residential Wireless Control Network IP and Patent Report’ WTRS uncovers:
(1) Key patents being used in Lutron litigation against industry competitors.
(2) Key patents, claims and prior art described in the Lutron patent portfolio.
(3) Litigation strategies and tactics employed by Lutron in its IP protection campaign.
(4) Companies and products found to have infringed on Lutron patents and other intellectual property, as well as the current status of winners and losers
Using only publicly available information, meticulously gathered from public patent sources, filing information, court activities, and other research this report is truly an invaluable resource for any company participating in the Home Control and Automation Market, or planning a potential entry into this market.
there is no point, only a signal...painting is not acceptable...so lets keep it clean..
fwiw!!!
“Painting the tape” refers to actions by a group of individuals seeking to manipulate the market for a security by creating artificial trading activity in the security. The market manipulators buy or sell enough of a security to create an unusually high trade trading volume. This induces unsuspecting investors to trade the security.
“Painting the tape” is a form of market manipulation and therefore violates Rule 10b-5 under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. A copy of Rule 10b-5 is available at: http://www.law.uc.edu/CCL/34ActRls/rule10b-5.html. (Please note that the SEC does not monitor or maintain this website).
