RE: why those listed participated in the private placement simple they have more knowledge about what is going on at EDIG than anyone here - I know this runs in the face of those here that try to make their opinions/bias seem factual - also would expect those mentioned as investors in the private placement have signed NDA's in order to get the info they required to make the decision to invest - this gives additional credibility as regards EDIG's products and business plan - since it seems reasonable that no one would invest to lose their money
moxa - I agree -as always it's interesting here - it seems those that can't whine - those that can do - SDR
Tin - maybe so - I don't know how PP would goes about upgrading their chipset - I was told new chipset
cas - sorry I automatically assume you post half truths - if you didn't so be it
tin - call the guys at EDIG as I have - they are my source- as they have a relationship with Portlal Player my guess is Portal Player is their info source
tin- then why was it necessary for portal player to build a new chipset for the new ipod version if they are firmware upgradeable in the same way the mxp100 and 01000 are upgradable - also as I recall when ipodr's tried to use the upgrade it killed their players
mh - doesn't mean it will be in the future - as we all know innovation has allowed players to become better than the original mp3 players
if that is so , which I doubt - portal player still had to build a new chipset to incorporate aac - so it follows that should a codec other than those you mention become the codec of choice apple will have to have a new chipset built to accomodate it rendering the old ipod's somewhat obsolete - so ipodr's will have to by a new player to stay current , another $500 or so while the 01000 owners will be able to access a firmware upgrade - still makes the 01000 the player of choice in my view
it means they are able to accomodate any codec available should it become the codec of choice
lickily - when ipod went to AAC Portal player had to build a new chipset for the ipod - the new ipod will not handle mp3 wma etc - what happens when a music label decides to use only WMA for example - apple will have to build a new player - imagine having to buy a new $500 player every year or so - while EDIG simply sets up a firmware upgrade - EDIG has already encoded all the known more popular codecs and is ready to go - they will also as new codecs license them so they can be upgraded via their site on the internet - for the non believers they can call EDIG as I have - seems to me the 01000 is a better choice
osh - I didn't say EDIG sucks less - I simply pointed out there are others that suck too but probably those co's are not being castiagated 24/7 by you and others that apparently have nothing else in your life worth doing - too bad such a waste of mindless talent
osh - sycamore networks $199.5 now $3.04 or maybe you prefer this comparison SBLU $24.81 now $.014 and BK
cass - JEEZ you are PATHETIC
wmw - sorry, Fred is a nephew of Helmut Falk - Fred worked at DH Tech then left and worked in a business development capacity(not an Officer) for PCPI now known as Imaging Tech for a period of six years - then worked for another company for about one year - this was where Woody Norris found him and hired him at Norris Communications in a business development capacity - when Bob Root left Norris, Fred was offered the job of CEO - Helmut was introduced to Woody at PTSC by Mark Gaspar, the CEO, this was after Fred was hired by Woody at Norris - Helmut had a patent on a chip called Shaboom the genesis of PTSC's java chip - Helmut became CEO of PTSC until his death - Mark Gaspar left -Robert Putnam is not a relative of Woody Norris - SDR
BUT - you can call what you like - fact is NOT RELATED - as I have read your posts I know dealing in facts is a new thought to you - SDR
wmw - are you refering to Helmut Falk ?? - if so Fred is not related to Helmut(deceased) in anyway - Helmut was an investor in PTSC and at one time the CEO - don't recall any such dealings regarding Norris Communications now eDigital - SDR
moxa! - you are right - SDR
Tinroad - I don't know either but that is dtd 5/22/02 when Collier was trying to build a CE company - since then EDIG has gone back to what they were before Collier - an integrator of their technologies with other co's technology to develop products while maintaining an Etail site for limited direct sales and in doing so develop the OEM business - so it wouldn't surprise me if DWY has market areas other than ASIA - SDR
Tinroad - don't know but I think EDIG and DWY are close to signing up some OEM's for the O1000 - wouldn't be surprised if the discussions are down to amount of royalties per player and who gets to market where, Europe etc. and feature sets/ form factor since each player will have EDIG INSIDE, to as best as possible prevent price competition among their OEM's, at least initially until the consumer determines the player they prefer - would also expect some sort of qrtly or semi annual quotas to be met or the OEM would lose it's exclusivity in it's market area - SDR
gernb1 - the Maycom MP2000 was in addition to MP3/WMC loaded by EDIG with AAC - but since most music is MP3 AAC was overkill - should secure content become a fact of life and various codecs be used such as AAC EDIG will simply provide a firmware upgrade - EDIG has licensed all the codecs currently available as well as all the DRM and watermarking schemes to secure content and get the fees to download / subscribe to the provider - it also will be to EDIG's benefit since their platform can be firmware upgradeable to use it all seamlessly - seems to me a lot of ce companies planning to offer a player will want EDIG's platform, no one else seeems to have one - time will tell - SDR
wmw - wasn't a large amount of that stock issued via S3 filingsprior to Falk taking over as CEO and installing his management team - SDR
jtdii - I too was very pleased with the CC and agree a lot of shareholders were emailed - but my point is most shareholders do not live and die 24/7 with EDIG - and may own all they want and maybe they work or were doing something else - it's simple not all shareholders go to the shareholder meeting either - SDR
jtdii - the market action today simply tells us all that the only folks that heard the CC was not the majority of shareholders but those that are here and similar venues 24/7 - SDR
stone-mason - doubt RP said earnings - I think he said revenues - SDR
LL - EDIG did not have the $$$ in millions needed to do what jabra eventually accomplished, and did what was correct for EDIG at the time - all the folks here that seem to think 20/20 hindsight is a way to legitimize their bashing( or their whining) are pathetic - and unlike Sentinel I do and will not see their dribble as legitimate opinon/discussion - (the patent to Jabra was part of the deal) - SDR
sunpoop - her name was randy granovetter , she was in charge of sales and marketing@ EDIG - she , her team and millions of $$$( these $$$ were raised privately and as I recall those investors lost it all as did the original seed $$ investors ) were long gone before Jabra had success after they spent additional millions - you are too right about but anyway and his ilk can only lie it seems - since Jabra is a private corp I doubt any here know the amount of their success - SDR
as it should be - SDR
where is LawyerLong??? I read the silliness that Sentinel was posting and LL taking exception to it - has Tinroad used his powers to banish LL, hope not - I can remember when Tinroad used to admonish those that put out dribble on RB, not the posters that admonished them - SDR
austonia - why would we be hard pressed to find someone more experienced with these toys ?? Thanks SDR
mossberg will not get the O1000 from EDIG , he'll have to buy one - he's a mac guy no need to risk a biased so/so review from that clown - my guess is digitalway or another oem will provide him their version of the O1000 - SDR
Toyota owns over 50% of Fujitsu Ten
CDR - yes they do have to do things right and I think they are and will continue to do so but one thging is certain Monday Morning Quarter Backing isn't helpful - /SDR
CDR - not at all when you consider that the etail site does in fact get the word out as players are sold - also EDIG is not a CE company - companies like DigitalWay are - the release of the MXP100 on the etail site brought plenty of attention to EDIG by potential OEM's - it seems the exposure of the O1000 pre release is very good and I think during the recent CC Fred/RP said DigitaWay will have a version of the player and that two other OEM's are in talks with EDIG - SDR
packer1 - I suppose it could but EDIG will conduct itself as they think is appropriate - SDR
CDR - LL is correct , I called asked the question about the reviewers and was told that a very few if any reviewers would get the EDIG O1000 player , why you are thinking , well think about it if the reviewers go nuts about the player EDIG cannot possibly produce enough to satisfy the potential demand - beside simple logic and Fred's statements about not competing with OEM's, of which DigitalWay is one - EDIG will let co's like DigitalWay send their versions of the player to all the reviewers - EDIG is not in the mass CE business only a feature rich version available on their etail site - but then you know this if you have been paying attention even a little bit - you should call Fred once in awhile rather than appearing to be suspicious of info gathered by others here - also it's not an auction , EDIG wants as many OEM's as possible to sign up with them , also the retail price is pretty well established by the consumer 10 gig , 15gig 20 gig sell at certain prices + or - feature sets - royalties paid to a company like EDIG seem to have ceilings as well, Fred and his folks I'm sure get as high a fee as they can - SDR
tenderloin - in the CC Fred and RP confirmed Feb first week as the time of availability - the confirmation you mention simply followed the CC's lead - SDR
tenderloin - how did those rating the O1000 do so the player is not available - SDR
moxa - go to Yahoo finance - put in edig.ob , go to first news item - there's a link there - SDR
lawyerlong "expect the unexpected" - SDR
hollywoodhills - there is also a $3 royalty to LU for each player employing voice nav and would think that unless it works as well with languages other than english it would not be used - the margins in the MP3 player markets are very thin and $3 is meaningful ?? I have the MXP100 1gig and the voice nav works perfectly - SDR
