bettyfordallstar 'Double in Points"?
Y'all better be watching the price of OIL, it's DUMPING, airlines have much much MORE room for BIGGER than expected earnings on this ALONE.
Key point from last post news: "today’s agreements allow us to complete the merger next month and we wanted to pass along this outstanding news and our gratitude to all of you immediately. Thank you again – we look forward to celebrating the creation of the new American with all of you within a few weeks."
If you want to play the short game, be sure you get out before the hedge funds and ALL the Mutual Funds start adding new positions to fill the proper quota for this becoming a BIG airline and being a combined AAMRQ and LCC and an Index stock, they will be forced to take a position, shorts are truly F-ed here!
:)
Short sellers are playing off news being out to cause fear, but yes AAMRQ is a bargain right here IMO, it already hit $13.50, down now as only trading is short selling intraday, they (shorts) ALL will cover each day at close, so if you see a rise before 4PM with buying it is short sellers covering their asses lol after spending all day putting fear into everyone.
Thanks to the board for not answering my question on the AAMRQ options, no-one responded! YAY! :( no love, I'll post more on other boards I guess. Have fun with your short players now.
Can someone please shed light on how my options should be handled lol! I am good at this stuff but a bit confused in this case.
Again holding Jan 2014 $3.00 calls since stock was at $0.40, what will happen, I have no idea what I should do here folks, help me out lol.
ON CNBC now!
CRichard could you share the location of the guy who is spot on, like a link to that message board, interested in his take on things in general.
Yah this chatter about slots and Virgin tells me we are close to a settlement, seems the people in the know... know we are close just from me reading into the last minute-ness of things, know what I mean? Seems it is finalized just about, as this chatter recently this past few days is ALL about last minute bargaining on slots etc.
Best to all, long on AAMRQ options since stock was $0.40 Long entire time, no plan to let go. I just wish I understood how the option holders will be treated, a bit confusing, if anyone can explain let me know. I'm holding the Jan 2014 $3.00 Calls.
AAMRQ just broke $10.00 - LCC Broke $24.00 Woo, hold on! Here comes the big $ any moment.
BEST TO ALL!
EDIT: The technicals on LCC (US Air) shows a break now from a flag pattern, this is one of the best TA formations to break to an upside, this should move! (AAMRQ & LCC) AAMRQ should test 11 fast!
Richard Branson and Virgin is a BIG official partner of Delta Airlines, FYI. This move does seem a bit odd to me, at this time, really? Were ya drunk on a yacht with two many ladies Richard? I mean this should have been done at least 1-2 months earlier at least. Really?
:/
Yah seems it stopped trading. No realtime on Scottrade. ?
I show only 34,488 shares.
Yah seems it stopped trading. No realtime on Scottrade. ?
I show only 34,488 shares.
That was some weird movement there, from $8.99 to $9.20 on like a tiny order, then back down to $8.99.
$9.43 Per Share seems to be a technical support area. Except when LCC is dropping so it's technicals are a bit skewed due to LCC merger deal possibility.
GKG LOL!
We hit $9.74 wow.
People (Us Investors) remember that at this same time going into the best travel profits of the year with the holidays, OIL is dropping, I am watching DTO (Short Oil Play Multiplier). Another very good sign: Oil seems to be breaking down technically over a long chart period, a big + for AAMRQ.
Side note, just found a very interesting play, buying options for NBG (National Bank of Greece SA (NBG)), this thing looks to be a huge potential going out to 2015 0r 2016 on the options. Huge open interest on Jan 2015. Many expecting a nice move for a while, huge volume on stock over last few months. Just FYI.
Where are you guys looking at premarket price for AAMRQ, just curious?
I'm in on options from a while back (at about $0.20 - now at about $4.40), Father was a Delta Captain for 30 years.
I am still a bit worried about the options and how they will be handled during this whole merger thing, if anyone has some insight let me know. Holding the Jan 18 2014 $3.00 calls.
Have a good weekend all. Chart is pretty strong on this latest channel technically speaking (related to stock charts). So we have technicals and good possibility for a merger on our side at this moment.
Is it me or did someone just buy 200,000 (two orders, 100k each) shares above the asking price? And then 213,738 at the ask? Hmm
robvo, can you copy past the text from that story, I don't have access. (Or anyone else who has access).
Nice day! Test $8.00 tomorrow, cause this was a closing rush, really should test $8.00 in am, unless market goes south big, but probably it should still test $8.00.
LONG!
LCC Popping big again, twice now, two runs, go!!
mystockpk2 - hope you're right, but this is something that can lead to a positive or a negative in reality correct (them being a no show)?
Other stuff I researched about today's moves....

Shares of AMR Corp. (AAMRQ) have suddenly plunged this afternoon, although it’s not exactly what’s behind the drop.
=======
Shares of AMR Corporation(OTCMKTS:AAMRQ) are going crazy late afternoon as it tumbled as much 25% to low of $5.15. However, just in few minutes the stock clawed back its most of its loss and now down just 6%. Volume has also picked up in past few minutes.
We have heard the following: 1) Plane crash; 2) Execs in D.C. to talk with DoJ (not sure why that would be a negative); 3) negative Tier 1 comments from a shop that was just out positive two weeks ago; and 4) Computer glitch (not sure if trading or the co’s system)… of all of those I think a trading glitch is the most likely culprit.

AMR Corporation(OTCMKTS:AAMRQ )’s saw a sudden sell off and plunged as much as 28% to session low of $5.15 on hefty volume. Event Trader: AAMRQ and other airlines grabbing back the majority of losses; still a mystery on the move but we are asking around.

Kinda makes sense, but Delta also dropped, seems this would not cause an all of a sudden 20% drop, unless market makers were hoping to use that as a pawn to freak out the holders and clear all stop-losses, still seems odd to me. Not sure that is what took these all down.
Between technical glitches and new precedences, hmmm, not sure.
~
I doubt this would do it.

United Airlines Just Got Slapped With A Record $1.1 Million Fine For Leaving People Stuck In Planes
Business Insider
By Alex Davies | Business Insider – 43 minutes ago
The U.S. Department of Transportation hit United Airlines with a record $1.1 million fine for tarmac delays today.
Amid severe thunderstorms on July 13, 2012, the carrier left passengers at Chicago's O'Hare Airport in 13 planes on the tarmac for more than three hours.
According to the DOT, the planes exceeded by three-hour limit by as little as two minutes and as much as 77 minutes.
The DOT's Aviation Enforcement Office found that United did not implement is contingency plan for tarmac delays, and that its plan was inadequate in any case. United did not contact airport personnel or other airlines for help, and the bathrooms on two of the planes were inoperable for part of the delays.
This is the largest fine ever applied under the tarmac delay rule, which took effect in April 2010. Of the $1.1 million, $475,000 will go to the U.S. Treasury. The remaining $625,000 will cover "mitigation measures for affected passengers and significant corrective actions by United" to keep this from happening again.
The DOT does not have the authority to make airlines compensate their customers.
United did not respond to a request for comment.
News 30 Minutes ago, positive news, still searching for what the the F just happened.

Biz Groups Add To Swelling Support For AA-US Airways Merger
Share us on:TwitterFacebookLinkedInBy Alex Lawson 0 Comments
Law360, New York (October 25, 2013, 2:35 PM ET) -- The leaders of 26 city and state chambers of commerce on Thursday joined in the growing chorus of stakeholders voicing support for the proposed merger of American Airlines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc. and urged Attorney General Eric Holder to settle the lawsuit currently stymieing the deal.
Representatives from the chambers of commerce for such cities as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., among scores of others, told Holder that the newly formed American Airlines will offer new opportunities to travelers and organizations,...
Beachlover, can you show the trading glitch news? That's f-ed! Because if not for the glitch the stock would prob be at $6.70, it's down still 10%, wtf.
I've been in this game of trading, worked at AG Edwards etc, I have yet to see this happen ever before unless something VERY BIG took place, there has to be a reason for this.
I own the Jan 14 $3 options, i saw the bid go from $300 to $30 in 2 minutes, that's totally insane.
Actually the bid now is bouncing up and down 100-200% on the Jan 14 calls at $3.
NOT NORMAL!
Someone please help me understand this. I checked other stocks, none but the airlines did this... at least with other stocks (sectors) I checked.
Really odd.
I get it, but really that's totally F-ed for people with stop loss orders, should be very illegal to do what is happening right now.
AMR Corp., US Airways Surge as Merger Support Grows
By Ben Levisohn: http://tinyurl.com/AAMRQ-LLC
Texas isn’t the only state backing the merger of AMR Corp. (AAMRQ), the parent of American Airlines, and US Airways (LCC). Oklahoma has now voiced its support for the combination.
Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt is continuing to press for the merger of American Airlines and US Airways, telling a court in Washington, D.C., that he intends to file for “friend of the court” status for the upcoming trial in an antitrust lawsuit brought by the Justice Department.
Pruitt’s announcement Wednesday came the same day as mayors of seven cities, all with American and US Airways hubs, sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder asking him to withdraw the lawsuit.
Michael Linenberg also raised US Airways to Buy from Hold. Analyst Michael Linenberg and team explain:
We are raising our rating on US Airways’s shares from Hold to Buy based on an improved fundamental outlook that, in our opinion, transcends the potential uncertainty surrounding the company’s proposed merger with American which has been blocked by the DOJ. The improvement observed in the Sep Q (e.g. pretax margin expanded 4 points to 9.5%) combined with material revisions to our 2013 and 2014 EPS estimates underlie a revised 12 month price target of $30 implying upside of 40% for LCC shares. We believe that math is too compelling to disregard despite regulatory uncertainty that may not be resolved until early 2014.
Shares of AMR Corp. have gained 9.7% to $6.91–just 3.4% from its 52-week high–while US Airways has risen 5.5% to $22.57. Southwest Airlines (LUV) has advanced 3.4% to $16.96, Delta Air Lines (DAL) has jumped 2.6% to $26.27 and JetBlue Airways (JBLU) is up 2.9% at $12.31.
Both LCC & AAMRQ just jumped up again very fast, something is causing this, not sure what yet.
AAMRQ up 10%
LCC up 7.2%
Very little selling, big buying.
Big blocks being purchased, AAMRQ NOW going parabolic, trades like something is up, has to be, I don't normally see this and have been involved directly in investments for a very long time.
LCC Really Really On The Move Higher Today. Up 6%, buying continues in this stock, HUGE pressure on buys vs the sellers.

Just now AAMRQ moving fast!!! Woooo...
The Deal: AMR's Quarterly Profit Soars:
NEW YORK (The Deal) -- The parent of American Airlines Inc., which will head to court next month to try to win approval for its merger with US Airways Group Inc., on Thursday, Oct. 17, reported quarterly results that show the company hitting cruising altitude flying solo.
AMR Corp. reported net income of $289 million in the third quarter, an improvement over a loss of $238 million during the same three months a year prior. The company, which is in Chapter 11 protection, said that excluding bankruptcy-related charges and other items it would have made $530 million, the highest quarterly net profit in company history.
"Continued execution on our product, network and alliance strategy, combined with cost efficiencies from restructuring and fleet renewal, creates strong momentum towards our planned merger with US Airways," company chairman and CEO Tom Horton said in a statement. AMR, according to Horton, set aside $59 million during the quarter with "expectation of making our first profit-sharing payout since 2001" to employees.
But the positive results could further complicate AMR's effort to win approval of its planned $11 billion merger with US Airways. The two companies in February announced plans to combine into what would be the world's largest carrier, but that deal was thrown into doubt in August when the Department of Justice filed suit seeking to block the combination on antitrust grounds.
The DOJ in building its case against the deal is relying in part on comments from AMR executives from prior to the merger announcement saying that the airline could survive and prosper on its own.
A strong quarter and massive cash balance only reinforce the argument that American, thanks to its restructuring, should be able to go it alone.
The airlines have countered that while in the short term they can compete, over the long haul they lack the global scale necessary to compete with larger rivals United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL_) and Delta Air Lines Inc. (DAL_).
Though antitrust attorneys say the government could have a solid case, the financial community is increasingly betting on the airlines to prevail. JPMorgan Chase & Co. analyst Jamie Baker on Thursday upgraded AMR's shares to overweight and boosted the likelihood that the merger goes through to 60% from 50%.
Earlier this month Wolf Research LLC analyst Hunter Keay estimated the airlines have a 75% chance of winning in court. Unlike in many bankruptcies, AMR shareholders are expected to avoid being wiped out entirely when the company emerges from Chapter 11 protection.
John D. Godyn at Morgan Stanley (MS_) remained more cautious about the airlines' chances, putting the odds that the companies will succeed at 42.5%.
Baker in his note said that AMR's prospects are looking up even if the airlines do not prevail at trial. The analyst said that the company's shares could be worth as much as $15.50 each if a deal goes through, and perhaps $3.50 absent a merger.
"Industry fundamentals are robust, certainly exceeding those envisioned around the time of AMR's original stand-alone ambitions," Baker wrote.

I have asked this before, so maybe someone can help me out a bit.
I own options on AAMRQ
JAN 2014 $3 Calls
They have done well, last trade at 2.70 but there is no movement in the options anymore, there was plenty of movement earlier in the summer.
What will happen with these options, will they move again, should I convert the options to stock now? Etc
What's the best move here, I called a broker and he had no clue what's best, too bad he did not know but maybe someone here knows.
AAMRQ as a merger with USAIR is going to be a smart move so i am with you all here but please, if anyone has good info please let me know what to do?
~BC
Hey Peeps. Great move by AAMRQ. Question for board.
I own the January 2014 $3.00 Calls
Before the DOJ screwed up the works trying to block the merger the options were trading well. Now they are stuck at a 'Last Price' of $2.70, will these options trade again?
I called Scottrade and asked about this and they called their options branch and had really a stupid answer to me asking for more information about this; they really had no answer.
I worked in the past at AG Edwards, but this situation with the options is pretty unusual, any ideas what your play would be if you were me at this moment?
Again - I Hold January 2014 $3.00 Calls
Thanks for the chatter here everyone!
