I agree that Apple has been less than helpful all the way around. I also think most people don't quite get what the iPhone is. It's really a tiny computer that is always connected to the internet via ATT or WiFi with phone capabilities. If it's on it's doing something, 24/7. That little bugger is really busy all the time.

Perhaps until something gets resolved re: data transfer charges, a person should leave it off and just check for messages from time to time if they are traveling and don't intend to make outgoing calls. Not a good solution just the only one that would work at the moment as far as I can tell.

At least the phone bill in a box has ceased. The last bill I received did not have an endless list of every data transfer. Whew!

There's off and then there's power off. The first off is really just asleep. You have to hold the top button down for a few seconds to bring up the "Power off" red slider. Then you have to slide the red slider Now your phone is really off. Of course it is also completely useless as it is off. Clear?

As I sit here mouth agape at that response I can think of nothing to say to you that you would understand. Clearly you have never owned or run a small business. You have never depended on the income from something that you created, put your heart, soul and sweat into and who knows how many years, just to see it wiped out in a nanosecond when Walmart comes in and sells everything you offer for 10%-20% less.

I'm tired and this is not worth the argument. Sigh..............in my universe there exists a higher aesthetic and I strive to reach for, create, share and attain it. Walmart ain't it.

Hmmm........One, they're everywhere. I have 2 within one block of my house. They are literally right across the street from one another. What's that about?

Two, I think $6.00 hot, coffee flavored milk is absurd. But then I like coffee, preferably Peet's.

I admit I am a snob about some things and if everyone else is doing something I will do something else just to separate myself from the masses.

I suppose partnering with them could help sales. I have not yet read the details.

As to Walmart, I'm sure you're right about dollar stretching part but I hate their tactics re:employees, destruction of small local businesses, and a few other bits and pieces. The soulless, mind numbing expanses of cheap cr*p don't help either.

It really is beautiful and tactilely pleasurable to use. It has only one flaw. It smells very odd. I can smell it as soon as I walk in the room. Kind of a mixture of resin, tires, menthol, and something I can't put my finger or nose on. Other than that I love it!

Back from the Apple store after keyboard silliness,

Apparently you have to go to Keyboard preferences and check the box that says "Use all F1, F2....blah, blah, blah." Of course that makes sense but it would have been nice if there were instructions somewhere telling a person to do that. The sales guy was baffled as were all the other Apple people. They just got the keyboards yesterday and I was the first to come in with that problem. Bet I'm not the last. Somebody deep in the Apple Store bowels figured it out after about a half an hour messing with it.

Also a warning to all iPhone owners. This may be old news but if you don't want your phone bill delivered in a box be sure to power ALL THE WAY OFF or you will receive a bill with hundreds of pages of "DATA". No charge but the forests will thank you.

Lastly, saw the new iMacs. 1. Glare not not a big deal, at least where it was placed. 2. That black frame looks better in person and acts to slim down the Leno jaw. 3. The back looks not as bad in person as well. All and all a pretty nice looking machine.

I did that first thing but the Dashboard and Exposé buttons still don't work. All the rest do while they didn't before the update. I like the screen brightening buttons. Handy.

I really like it! Completely different feel but the best part is I think it will be a lot harder to get crumbs into.

Only one problem........2 buttons don't work so it's getting replaced this morning. Upside of that is I'll get to see the new iMacs. First time I've gotten a new Apple product with a problem right out of the box.

Here's what I see regarding the design and the glossy screen. It's just a great big iPhone. Perhaps all those people out there who bought an iPhone and who are not Mac people and all picky as we are will look at it and say to themselves ' Oh, that looks like my phone. Cool, I want one.' arghhh, ack, eeeeee!

Just plugged my iPhone in to charge it and the speakers went berserk. The noise that developed after downloading the noise fix that I didn't need is nothing compared to this. Horrible loud buzzing and screeching sounds are blasting from my speakers even on low volume. I can't use them.

Case of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I had no weird pops and noises until I downloaded the "fix" for them. Well, it fixed it alright. Now I get strange zappy, rattly noises. How do I "unfix" it?
