The multi-strategy window is a feature currently in beta testing at Trade-Ideas PRO. The release date is not set.
If you would like an invite to test this feature, reference this thread in an email along with your currently active username to info@trade-ideas.com.
Thanks for your interest!
Done. Take a look at and use our Sector & Market Divergence alerts which spot exactly the situation you describe:
http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#SBOO
You could also use the market directional filters to say something like, "Show me opportunities (of stocks running up, crossing 20 day MAs, etc only when the market is down x%)
http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#WSF_MinQqqq5
Let us know your progress
In Trade-Ideas PRO this information appears in the '#' column; showing you how many times we've reported the alert HOD or LOD for that particular stock.
More info: http://www.trade-ideas.com/VideoHelp/Menu.html?video=Trade-Ideas%20Pro:%20Columns:%20Count
You are correct. predefined strategies cannot be altered. Changes you make show up in your Recent Settings folder
? Which ones disappeared? Here's the latest list from our web site (same list as that inside TI PRO): http://www.trade-ideas.com/GettingStarted.html
We do occasionally change the list, let me know which ones you cant find. If they are gone from the list save them as a browser favorite or online bookmark service (i.e., delicious, netvibes, etc.)
Dont use the Current Volume or Relative volume filter during pre and post market. Use some of these alerts in these sessions: http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#HRV
Read the definitions of the filters to find which ones can work in the pre and post market
In that case use the filters we have that allow you to be within a certain percentage of the MA benchmarks:
http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#WSF_MinMA200P
and then choose alerts like 25% Pullback from Highs/Lows or even the Running Up/Down alerts. Experiment with those and let me know how it works.
Nice OddsMaker suggestion. We have this capability in our Bot Trading applications that automate trades. Makes sense to put it into the OddsMaker.
Noted and in the queue!
Pullbacks from moving averages: easy.
Here's several alerts in our inventory that will get you started.
http://ow.ly/AlmP
Add to these alerts the filters that best represent your own trading plan.
Thanks for the message.
Here's our Pre Market strategy that you mentioned shows highs and lows: http://www.trade-ideas.com/View.php?O=2000000000000000000000000000000_1d_0&MinVol=100000&MinFCP=2&WN=Stocks+Up+Big+in+Pre+Market+Trading
You can check the volumes at which these are made easily in the Relative Volume column of the TI PRO display. Make sure you have the column viewable.
You can also add this filter to the Pre/Post market strategies by simply selecting it: http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#WSF_MinRV
You can also add it as an alert to the mix: http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#HRV
You would do well to comb our blog for configured strategies we create based on people's questions (like we do here in this forum) but also from articles we read and other sources:
http://marketmovers.blogspot.com/
goto the tag in our posts marked 'Strategy-Sessions'
Follow me on Twitter @TradeIdeas. We post alot of scans and ideas here as well as newsworthy comments and articles about the markets. You can use the scans as a starting point in order to better reflect your own trading plan:
http://twitter.com/TradeIdeas
I know this can be done on an intraday basis, but your looking for daily activity from the previous day. This might work for you:
http://www.trade-ideas.com/StockInfo/_ScreenerScan.html?SYMBOLS_PP=25&sort1=MaxVWVP&sort2=None&sort3=None&MinGUR=1&MaxFCDP=-.05&XN=on&X_NYSE=on&X_AMEX=on
I'll let you know when you make them available. Testing them now.
GREAT Suggestion!
Thanks for the message and the support Scott!
There are some features available in the paid subscription service that are not available in the free online screeners. However in both cases we do not have a filter for stocks less than a year old.
http://www.trade-ideas.com/IndexTradersArea.html
You do have the ability to look at just ETFs in the paid subscription service as well as design any of your own symbol lists. Feel free to email me at david 'at' trade-ideas.com about widgets or promotional material we can provide to support your efforts. Best, D
Have your answer on how to activate OddsMaker in Scottrade ELITE:
You need to have your account reset for this feature. It's painless. Please tslawson@scottrade.com with your request and it will be done. You may reference this post and thread.
THanks for this message. You are right and it should not happen. I will check on this and reply in the forum. If you receive a fix before I post back here, pls let us know.
Thanks again.
If I understand your question correctly, you are describing a stock distribution/issuance event - this is also referred to as dilution for existing shareholders. Holding everything else constant, this can result in a downward pressure on price.
Note that such an event (dilution) is not technical indicator per se and is not tracked by our software
Thanks for the suggestion. We'll put it into the queue.
Continue to use the existing SMA and other alerts/filters as your proxy for EMAs. As for MACD - our Running Up/Down alerts are based on MACD to generate the trigger. Use these as a proxy as well.
We will eventually move to breaking out these indicators from the existing alerts that use these methods.
It is the other way around.
Alerts = 'or'
Filters = 'and'
From Jamie, Dir. of Trader Education:
Well, 2 things, the nature of the event (fast moving) and the fact that it’s taking place relatively close to the open make for really fast action.
My fill rates are running approx 10-20%------missing the entry is one thing, missing the price that the Odds Maker is marking is normal if not expected.
JH
From me:
That's why we stress the importance of finding strategies with at least a 2:1 average winning trade to average losing trade. Doubling that ratio provides enough cushion for slippage issues, etc.
Also consider if you want better fill rates on key events anticipate them within the filters and alerts you select. For example if you were looking for the moment of the 200 day SMA crossover, you could use our filter to place all stocks 1 or 2% away from that benchmark. Another example: If you were looking to trade the 30 day high, set alerts for the 29 day high which it has to reach before passing the 30th.
BEst,
D
Here's a response from our Director of Trader Education, Jamie:
"The entry prices are being generated by the print that occurs once the filter set has been satisfied and the catalyst fires. This is not indicative of “bars.” It’s simply a matter of when the event actually occurs.
Depending on the type of event, the odds of getting filled at a desirable price depend on whether the person is manually trading or robotically trading.
I can say from experience, that about 10-20% of my orders get filled in the automated environment; I would assume manual fill rates would be much lower.
Hope this helps,
Jamie"
? You should read the definitions of these filters. A '2' in each of these filters may not produce the results you want to see.
Understand the appropriate values you could enter in these filters (remember they are 'AND' statements when used together). If any of this is not clear please refer to our helpful Support pages from the homepage.
"Got nothing" isn't helpful. If you still are having difficulties you can copy and paste your strategy here for us to look at and correct if possible.
Both are available - use the search tab when you select Configure
I would try this experiment:
Make a symbol list with just the symbol you looking for (in this case the spiders).
Choose all the alerts (choose no filters) then run the alert window and see which alerts fire off around the time you expect.
Hi - if you want the debug window, pls send your request along with your TI username to info@trade-ideas.com. We'll send you the instructions on receiving this information.
Hi. I'm confirming a couple of things with this reply:
1. Times are in PST
2. a small bug was discovered and has now been fixed. No need to download the software. It should now work correctly.
Thanks
Cash, you are our employee of the month! Come claim your reserved parking spot in our San Diego office!
Thank you for your excellent and accurate responses.
I will confirm everything iq is asking that you answered and post more answers for you. Thanks again.
First I would not presume to speak for Dr. Steenbarger, so if you have a specific question about his strategy, please leave him the same question you posted here.
His post is: http://traderfeed.blogspot.com/2009/09/developing-trading-system-to-support.html
That said this is a sell into strength strategy and buy into weakness. So the underlying assumption that a move a bit higher represents a 'loss of steam' seems to make sense.
You could look at any of our pre-configured strategies found here or within TI PRO:
http://www.trade-ideas.com/GettingStarted.html
. . . and flip of them like I did with "Upside Momentum".
http://www.trade-ideas.com/View.php?O=2_19_0&MaxFCD=-0.5&MinCount=60&WN=Flipped:+Stocks+With+the+Most+Upside+Momentum+(These+Tend+to+Keep+Going)
"RSI Thru 42 on Daily and 15 Minute Chart"
http://bit.ly/POknA
Link opens a browser with the strategy. If you use TI PRO you can then copy the long version of the link address and paste it into TI PRO using the Collaborate feature.
Hi. Thanks for the message. In order to properly research and duplicate what you'vd created and seen, it will help to have screen shots of what you describe.
Please email setting and results screens from The OddsMaker, your username, and the strategy configuration to info@trade-ideas.com
This will help, thanks.
Using the collaborate feature, copy and paste your strategy in here and I'll take a look. Its prob something easy to fix.
Make sure in the exchange tab you've selected the Pink Sheets and OTC which I believe is an option in Scottrade ELITE. Let me know if that works.
We don't have pivot point alerts in TI (yet) - no timeline on this, but its in the queue.
Good question.
Here are some ideas from our list of pre-configured strategies found in Trade Ideas PRO and on our website:
http://www.trade-ideas.com/GettingStarted.html
"Down Big Yesterday but Up Big Today" (and its opposite below it)
http://www.trade-ideas.com/GettingStarted.html?name=Down+Big+Yesterday+but+Up+Big+Today&list_name=MAIN
"Daily Consolidation Breakout"
http://www.trade-ideas.com/GettingStarted.html?name=Daily+Consolidation+Breakout&list_name=MAIN
You should also look up some 'position trading' strategies found on our blog: http://marketmovers.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the suggestion and praise - much appreciated. Instead of thinking how to customize what you want in new high alerts based on x minutes of your choosing, in addition to what we already have in this area which you identified, think of using something else we do have that relates to price away from highs (and lows): http://www.trade-ideas.com/Help.html#WSF_MinBelowHigh
Good luck
I further modified the pre-configured strategy we include in TradeIdeas PRO and on our website, "Down 50 cents or More in the Last 5 Minutes on Big Volume Spike"
http://www.trade-ideas.com/GettingStarted.html
Here it is:
http://bit.ly/3u4hcT
Stay away from the Toplists. Recreate the filters in an alert window you create within RealTick using Trade Ideas. Goto the preconfigured strategies and choose the 'Start from Scratch' option.
