I am looking for something to buy as we speak. I am glad you did well on currencies.
Tom
Frank,
I am an okay stock picker and have been lucky. I think for the year I finish up 10% or more. But now maybe a big dollar rally is in the offing. Big POG sell off. We may be on the same page soon.
CLG is still good would love to see it get hammered in tax selling.
Only going to hold Claude's best drill hole plays going forward. And may reduce them CKG, DAE, maybe ABS it got hurt, VYE, ORM. Not buying ANO yet.
Scary times. People do not like the dollar and for good reason but the boat is getting heavy and lopsided.
Tom
PS: I will bet you did a lot better than 5% this year. I know you did. You are a better short term trader by far.
LOL.
GYD, ABS, maybe others lots of dogs but up for the year but only 5% or so after the ABS debacle.
cheers.

Maybe things have gone haywire.
You and I don't believe it but huesos and others do.
tf fine with me but why are you letting a poster make false accusations? I am out of here.
Heusos I see you cannot respond to a PM so I will make the post public:
Huesos,
When I answered your inquiry I had not seen EC's post.
In real life I live in Portland Oregon. I have worked in the home loan and credit business the past 18-19 years as a loan officer and a loan processor. My current position is as a loan processor with a title of "Loantech". Essentially I push paper.
The past three + years I have worked for a intermediate size bank holding company (On the reatil home mortgage side)that has a national presence. The local offices had been ran down because of poor management so I have had plenty of time to day trade, post, and watch my stocks. Lately that has changed and I have been much busier at work.
I lost a good bit of capital prior to late 2001 in mining stocks. Then I met Claude of Ormetal reports on line. I subscribed to his letter and have corresponded with him weekly since then sometimes several times a week. You see me blather all the time on SI. I do a lot of private messaging with some folks and exchange ideas that way. I also have enough sales skills to call the company management which I do all the time. I have so little real knowledge of the mining industry they seem safe in talking to me and I do not break their confidences. You can get a lot of information that way.
I owe most of my success to Claude and secondarily to the people on SI.
EC pissed me off a year or two back accusing me of working for Cannacord. Any one with a brain can see I don't know enough to qualify but let EC ramble the more of a raise he gets out of someone the happier he is. He is disgruntled as he has been scalped by so many promoters over his life.
But he seems to be a decent fellow overall.
If you have any other questions please fire away.
Good luck trading,
Tom
PS:Married 34 years one daughter still at home. 2 cats. That's my whole story.
The second paragraph is true. <g>
Please rephrase the question. Be more specific.
I guess you don't follow Ormetal picks much then.
Had a heck of a run today and for once I got in before most of it. <g>
Yeah! <g> News on Monday I hear. I have my fingers crossed.
Holes may be some hit and miss. Have you looked at the drill plan on their website?
http://www.absolutresources.com/gallery/images/HP_110104.gif
I hear we are getting hole #116 on this release and it is way out there! <g> If it hits great.
May be better stuff in holes #121,#122 and #124 to the other side but that is speculation.
Well we should have news around the 1st of next week. I hope you are right. <g>
Hey you copied my SI posts. LOL. It will take a while to develop ABS. They have at least two other zones that have not been drilled.Look on their website. Drill map shows hole 116 that is way out there. Should be in the next round. But the last holes will be on the opposite side and may be of higher grade. #'s 121 123 and 124.
http://www.absolutresources.com/gallery/images/HP_110104.gif
If they hit 1 g/t on #116 or 121, 122 or 124 well this thing should rock.
No doubt the end of next week or start of week after. Maybe some sampling from another zone too.
Jane I was just lucky enough to get a couple of posts in. <g>
How do I bookmark but not bookmark zeev's thread just the gold cot message stuff?
Thanks,
tom
Actually TF off the record I think the geos at ABS think there is a chance they will have 5 million ounces.
Tackler,
I owned KRE from the last run up from 40 to 70 or so. I think the Corey Creek property has merit and is on trend with the famous Eskay property I believe. I have not looked at this stock for months but it may have promise.
Do you or anyone else have an opinion on Corey Creek or KRE?
Tom
jackjc,
I am interested in CLg now only because Kinross has taken such a large position. I think but do not know if dundee has dumped thier CLG shares. I figure that with continued exploration and the interest from Kinross there may be something there BWDIK?
Right now I am fully invested in plays that excite me a bit more. Of course most of them have not proven whether or not they have the gold in the ground that CLG does.
<CLG: Had this for couple yrs and sold about half way to the top at good profit. Bought a bit on the collapse, too soon, sold this wk at loss. Attended their recent AGM, did not
like the CEO.>
Jackjc,
Do you mind expounding on this a bit? I have sold all my CLG also but was thinking of re-entry. Your comment makes me cautious. Were you referring to Kerry?
Thanks,
tom
We have the same thoughts. Several more holes/assays to follow. Too bad we have to wait two to three weeks.
Trading fool,
I hope you and I are not the fools. <g> I have a big stash of GYD. Not selling today. May as well wait for the bounce or for the next round of results.
What is your opinion on results? Looks to me like they got some long intercepts not too deep (low strip ratio) and in a cheap mining area, but................
Any other GYD owners want to chime in?
Tom
<The gold mineralizing system at La Juliana appears to be both
structurally and lithologically controlled. Zones of high-grade
gold mineralization extend for more than 500 meters along a major
north-northwest trending fault. Several historical rock chip
samples taken from pits excavated along the fault, two to three
meters deep returned gold grades ranging between 13.0 g/t and
77.2 g/t.>
Now I sure do like this part! <g>
CKG and DAE write up a deal. I liked Julianna so am adding DAE. Getting a nice pop for now!
trading fool. Here is what Randy owns I don't know about other management people. When you see this and realize with the amount of shares he owns he is motivated. If he gets CKG to $22.00 like he did FGX he would be worth about 65 million dollars which is no small sum even in Canuck dollars. <g>
I pulled this from sedar from around June or so of 2003:
Vancouver, British Columbia, June 25, 2003 – P. Randy Reifel, President and Director of
Chesapeake Gold Corp. (“Chesapeake”) announces that on June 16, 2003, he acquired directly
and indirectly, beneficial ownership of 458,648 common shares, being 2.57% of the issued and
outstanding common shares (“Shares”) of Chesapeake.
Mr. Reifel acquired the 458,648 Shares as a result of the issuance by Chesapeake of 1,450,000
Shares under the terms of certain rights issued in June 2000, by Francisco Gold Corp.
(“Francisco”) and further to the arrangement agreement dated April 30, 2002, among Francisco,
Chesapeake and Glamis Gold Ltd.
Following the acquisition, Mr. Reifel beneficially owns, directly and indirectly, 2,612,600 Shares
and 450,000 stock options. Assuming the exercise of all of the 450,000 options, Mr. Reifel’s
beneficial ownership, direct and indirect, would equal 3,062,600 Shares, representing
approximately 16.76% of the deemed issued and outstanding Shares.
<The mineralized system that is associated with a regional fault that can be traced for more than four kilometres.>
Nice size. <g>
<Kennecott) had samplings 20 -25g. "Another ½ million oz [as starter]">
Other rumors around that the adjoining properties may be bigger than El Sazaul or Marlin. Time will tell.
<Skarn can be erratic, but high grade, like 5g+ Au.>
Also hear that it is polymetallic with very high grade copper numbers and excellent silver credits.
Some people still think gold is money. And they have accumulated much more wealth than anyone else here:
And now a word from Richard Russell, a man still young and fresh and no where near the "Best Before” date featured on many consumer products:
January 31, 2004 -- This is going to be very short. Last year the Bank of Japan spent $187 billion to buy dollars in order to keep the dollar higher against the yen (obviously, Japan wants a lower yen to render their exports competitive to the US).
In today's Financial Times I read that in the month of January 2004 alone, the BOJ spent an incredible (record) $67 billion again in intervention. That's $67 billion in a single month!!
Despite all the BOJ intervention, the yen remains just off its highs.
This indicates the extraordinary inherent weakness of the dollar. Imagine where the dollar would be if the BOJ hadn't intervened!
What happens to all these dollars that Japan buys? Much of it goes into buying US Treasury bonds -- which is what's holding up the bonds. What about the currency risk in the bonds? That's a risk that both Japan and China are willing to take -- to keep the game going.
All this makes gold look ridiculously cheap. Every major nation is increasing its paper money. The problem with gold is that people still see it as a commodity like zinc or wheat or pork bellies.
The great secret that the central banks don't want you to know is that GOLD IS MONEY. As the dollar declines through time, the secret of gold will become common knowledge -- this will happen as the gold bull market progresses. When people see what's happening to their paper "money," the great rush into gold will begin. We are still in the accumulation phase of the gold bull market.>>>>>>
So maybe the dollar does have room to move down further at some point. That is where I think it will go.
My core holdings and I am down to a concentration of stocks CKG, NL, AQI and AGC.h are all holding up very well the last few weeks. Still 100% invested in explorers.
<One day in the distant future I promise to turn bullish on gold (again)-- just dunno when, yet...>
340.00 POG I would figure.
KD,
I am with you my friend. Good analysis. Things change. Market down gold up this round. Sounds good to me. FWIW we shall see if Frank is right or not shortly. Market higher gold down. Maybe a bit but not to extremes. Of course another 200 points on the Dow and Frank's objective will be fairly close. <g>
Tom
<<I'm officially bearish on everything.>>
Even CKG, TSK,tsk, tsk.
That guys TA has been right on. May be one to read and FOLLOW!
Wets my whistle for Drooy again.
Sounds like some of my trades. Sold INM and SJD just to see them bounce.
Frank I agree cash ain't trash! But I have violated every trading rule you have and am down to 5 stocks and one of them is at almost 55% of PF and PF at almost all time high.
au great,
I would suggest you pose your question to Claude on an SI thread. Dave's or Russ's thread. Post to one of Claude's messages and he may answer. He knows what is happening.
Tom
My target is so high Basserdan and Frank will not allow me to post it. <g>
<Never let it be said that the ol' basserdude ain't fair..... or that he didn't own some CKG himself. <vbg> >>
Right on!. But when it goes to $7.50 Canuck buck it will be a requirement to be mentioned in every other post. <g>
