Tech, I agree with you, why do an analysis of revenues, P/E, and all that when sales are so limited.
Thanks for the kudos, I already did mail the Minister of Environment a similar e-mail, I don't know who to follow up with?
I've dealth with the government of Ontario before, on another matter, that time going through my MPP. It was handled nicely, no need to follow up, my MPP CC:ed my email to the Minister of Transporation, and things went well with the problem I was having.
Here's what I got back from the Premier on Ontario:
Thank you for your online message and sharing your idea with me. Your views are important to me.
As the Honourable John Gerretsen, Minister of the Environment, would also be interested in this matter, I’ve passed along a copy of your message to him for his information. You may wish to contact Ministry of the Environment by writing to 12th Floor, 135 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto, Ontario, M4V 1P5, by telephone at 416-314-6790 or by visiting the ministry’s website at www.ene.gov.on.ca.
Thank you again for contacting me.
Dalton McGuinty
Premier of Ontario
c: The Honourable John Gerretsen
RJ, that's a great idea. I am going to send this to my Premier of Ontario and I recently sent a version similar to it to the Minister of the Environment in Ontario.
Dear ,
With respect to the issue of municipal pollution and Lake Simcoe (http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/en/news/2007/120601.php), I believe a possible solution to that and a host of other environmental issues facing Ontario is a machine (a "grinder-dryer") called the KDS Micronex. The patent rights belong to First American Scientific Corporation of Delta, B.C. (FASC - Nasdaq Bulletin Board.)
Extensive government-funded research testing has been done in Prince George, B.C., attempting to convert municipal biosolids into a Class "A" fertilizer which could be bagged and sold to the public. A commercially economical machine has not yet been achieved, however, successful pathogen kill was achieved in all tests to date. According to the company's most recent quarterly filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (http://sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=first+american+sci&CIK=&filenum=&State=&SIC=&owner=include&action=getcompany), they "have now commenced fabrication of a Phase Two testing facility in Abbotsford where we will build and test a commercial scale model to be perfected and offered for sale to Price George."
The KDS has a host of other potential environmental applications. One of which is the grinding and drying of biomass, to which the Canadian government had funded research with respect to wood waste.
The company website is http://www.fasc.net. There it describes what makes the KDS an effective and unique grinding and drying piece of equipment:
The material enters the torus rotor chamber where it falls onto spinning chains and is subject to enormous centrifugal accelerations. The chains spin with a tip speed of about 400 mph. The material is “fractured” as it impacts repetitively with the chains and the strike plates on the sides of the torus. Liquid water is squeezed out of the material due to the compressive action of the impacts. Heat created from the kinetic energy of the impacts evaporates some of the moisture in the material. When appropriate particle size reduction is achieved, air flow in the torus lifts the particles upwards towards the classifier. Because some of the water removal happens due to mechanical forces, less energy is consumed than in thermal dryers – usually, only 500 to 900 BTU per pound of water removed - less than the latent heat of water! No heat input is used - only electricity. (http://fasc.net/kds_main.htm)
There is a host of information pertaining to the KDS Micronex (including links to published, government funded studies) available at www.investorshub.com in the group FASC.
The board is http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=566
As a concerned citizen I respectfully ask that you take a quick look to see if this machine might warrant further consideration in helping to solve Ontario's environmental challenges.
Sincerely,
Hopefully the Xcel funded research will result in a fresh patent for the KDS Micronex with respect to pelletizing biomass (and whatever else they may think of).
Only 10 years left on the KDS patent.
LoL RJ, no worries, no offense taken, I knew it was just in humour. Hey, if you can get 'em at the bid, more power to ya.
NOTE 5 – RELATED PARTIES
At September 30, 2007, the Company owed its senior executives and its directors a total of $778,885 for unpaid accrued salary and for loans made to the Company.
During the quarter ended September 30, 2007, the Company committed to granting to each of its two principal officers, an option to purchase 15,000,000 shares of the Company's common stock at an exercise price of $0.015 per share, the exercise of which will satisfy the unpaid salaries accrued through June 30, 2007.

I should have said the patent application was published this year (on November 1, 2007.)
It has not been approved yet.
Yet the patent was applied for and approved this year. Go figure.
KDS mentioned in another patent, for man-made pellets. (TR posted the one about the animal feed and fertilizer preparation one.)

[0048]This may be achieved through the use of air shear techniques, such as using the kinetic disintegration technology, conducted commercially by AGES of Canada or First American Scientific Corporation of Bakersfield, California. Methods and apparatus relating to comminution of fibrous materials are described for instance in U.S. Pat. Nos. 5,839,671 and 6,024,307, hereby incorporated herein by reference. The fibrous cellulosic material is obtained by subjecting wood chips or other acceptable source of cellulosic material, such as that derived from waste digesters, to pneumatic shear so as to disintegrate the cellulosic fibers. This may be done by obtaining the mechanical or pneumatic shear-treated material commercially, such as the kinetic disintegration technology commercially available from Alternative Green Energy Systems Inc. (AGES) of Canada or First American Scientific Corporation of Bakersfield, Calif. Examples of devices capable of performing this method are the KDS Model 250 and KDS Model 3000 (in development), commercially available from First American Scientific Corporation of Bakersfield, Calif. Another source of the desired fibers is that of thermomechanically processed pulp. While virgin pulp is not an economic source, recycled pulp, such as that extracted in the autoclave processing of municipal waste, is.

Much appreciated HC. eom
FWIW, i emailed Google.org that I was an investor in FASC as well as the following: (taken from FASC's website)
First American Scientific Corporation (FASC) is an innovative equipment manufacturer and provider of turn-key systems that increase profitability and reduce the environmental impact of materials processing.
FASC’s patented grinder-dryer, the KDS Micronex™ efficiently and economically processes a wide variety of raw materials and wastes into fine, dry powders.
FASC’s clients benefit by:
Simplifying on-site grinding and drying operations into a single compact, and easy-to-operate system.
Creating high-quality, dry, virtually pathogen-free powders that have value as industrial feed stocks, fuels, fertilizers and animal feeds.
Reducing disposal and handling costs of and long-term liability from materials that were previously non-recyclable.
Jake and Ken,
Jake, sorry about the false accusation, I went through your posts and saw no evidence of your being who I thoguht you were....I should have done that from the get-go. You guy and dochollidalyco just talked similarly with similar interests, but my bad.
Ken, I've never been married but sorry to hear that. I'll try not to make the same mistake if I'm ever so lucky :0)
Investoman, the KDS may be playing a role one day in any and every co-generation powerplant in existence. But FASC has not, to my knowledge, sold one machine currently being used in any green energy production process. Until they sell a few machines to this end, I would suggest curbing your enthusiasm.
FWIW, the UK looks to hold a lot of promise for those of us looking to make a buck in alternative energy.
Brown promises a green technological revolution
Released : Tuesday, November 20, 2007 9:45 AM
Gordon brown pledged yesterday to make Britain a world leader in the battle against global warming, with a green "technological revolution" which he said could create millions of jobs. In his first major speech on the environment since becoming Prime Minister, Mr Brown hinted strongly that he is ready to extend the Government's target of a 60% cut in Britain's greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, revealing that he has asked an independent committee of experts to look at the possibility of an 80% goal.
He announced talks with supermarkets and other retailers over the elimination of throw-away plastic carrier bags.
And he launched a new Green Homes initiative, with a website and phone hotline to advise householders how they can reduce the carbon footprint of their homes.
Environmentalists welcomed Mr Brown's confirmation that Britain is "absolutely committed" to meeting its share of an EU target to generate 20% of Europe's power from renewable sources by 2020.
The commitment could see a surge in energy from wind, waves, solar panels, waste and biomass, starting with an announcement expected soon from Business Secretary John Hutton for a "significant" expansion in offshore windfarms.
Speaking ahead of December's international climate change summit in Bali, Mr Brown published a statement setting out Britain's vision of a new global low-carbon economy to hold the rise in average temperatures to 2C or less.
And he said any agreement stemming from the Bali talks should include "binding emissions caps" for all developed countries after 2012 to ensure greenhouse gases peak within 10-15 years and are reduced by at least half by 2050.
The international community faces a "historic and world-changing" challenge to build a low-carbon economy over the coming 50 years, Mr Brown told the conservation charity WWF in a speech in central London.
But he said the task was both "technologically feasible and economically rational" and held out the promise of new environmental industries generating pounds 1.5trillion annually and employing 25 million people worldwide - one million of them in the UK.
Transforming the world's energy economy will require a "fourth technological revolution", changing society as fundamentally as did the harnessing of steam power, the invention of the internal combustion engine and the microprocessor, said Mr Brown.
"This represents an immense challenge for Britain. But it is an even bigger opportunity," he said.
"Building our own low-carbon economy offers us the chance to create thousands of new British businesses, hundreds of thousands of new British jobs and a vast new export market in which Britain can be a world leader."
The Climate Change Bill currently going through Parliament will commit the UK to 60% cuts in greenhouse gases by 2050, with interim targets in a "carbon budget" every five years. But Mr Brown said the latest evidence suggested that developed countries may have to reduce their emissions by 80% over that time.
The new Green Homes service would represent "the biggest improvement in home energy efficiency in our history", with one household in three offered help over the next three years on cutting its carbon footprint, and potential savings of more than pounds 100 a year for a typical property.
Mr Brown also believes the days of the throwaway plastic bag should be numbered, saying, "I am convinced that we can eliminate single-use disposable bags altogether in favour of long-lasting and more sustainable alternatives."
More than 13 billion disposable bags are handed out each year in the UK. A forum will assess how quickly they can be phased out.
Friends of the Earth director Tony Juniper warned, "If green speeches by our political leaders were enough, climate change would have been solved many years ago. We genuinely hope that at long last, the Government will show real urgency and put combating global warming at the heart of all its policies."

It means that Iraqis arrested the "bride and groom".
Perhaps I am mistaking you for someone else...dochollidayco was his handle.
Honestly Doc (if it is you), I'm a little upset with the whole "Thursday is newsday" thing, there are a few of us at the AIPN board at RB who'd like an apology methinks.
And FWIW, 1 place I like to get Iraq war news is from Multi-National Forces Iraq's website. http://www.mnf-iraq.com
Doc, I didn't know you were Iraqi. eom
Spoke to IR today:
Asked about the pump video, according to him John Robertson (CEO) has decided to wait until the video airs on TV before showing it on the website. The video editing was supposed to be done by some company not in the area, they didn't do it on time. As a result, scheduled air times had to be cancelled while it was being editing locally. Look for the video to air probably in December or January.
Negotiations continue with firms looking to license the technology.

No Tech, the Malaysian thingy.
"The Malaysians are currently raising money privately to build a $ 1.3 million plant to process fibre which will be sold to China."
I would assume they would get a manufacturing permit before trying to find lenders.
What matters now is raising the money, not whether or not the government of Malaysia would grant a building permit, or when they did.
What makes you say the plant is going up shortly?
LoL Charlie! And I was peeved at the spelling mistakes! Man oh man, I guess the axiom is true...you get what you pay for...
Tech, here are two differences I found between the 10Q and the 10K.
WRAP is not mentioned in the 10Q.
The expected date for delivery of a KDS to Mexico was pushed back to November 2007.
TR, taking into consideration that you posted an o/s of 196,143,955 on November 9, it stands to reason the o/s in the 10Q is a typo, since there was not enough volume from the 9th to the 16th for the company to have acquired nearly 2 million shares on the open market.
Somehow I missed this:
Brazil – Proposed Joint Venture & License Agreement
On April 18, 2006 the company announced the signing of an Agreement in Principle to form a joint venture to be named First American Scientific Brazil Ltda. These negotiations will not be finalized until the test machine sent to Brazil is fully operational and evaluated. The machine was delivered in June 2007, but is not set up yet. Target date for commissioning is Oct 2007. We believe this project will produce excellent results processing bagasse and other agricultural waste.
Looks like nothing has changed.
TR, understood.
One thought that crossed my mind is that some of the players from the orginal JV agreement are still involved, but the group has changed through addition, subtraction, or both. I recall Cal saying something about a lawyer being involved in Brazil when I spoke to him a few months back.
So, for accuracy's sake, maybe they are making a distinction of sorts between the past and the present.
I guess they have not said anything about it falling through, just that it did not proceed. (Similar but not the same, imo.)
However, unlike in the 10K, nothing (that I saw) said negotiations would re-start once a KDS machine was tested down in Brazil.
TR, I believe Tech was referring to this:
On April 18, 2006 the company announced the signing of an agreement in principle to form a joint venture to be named First American Scientific Brazil Ltda. with South American Bio-Energy Corp Ltda of Uruguay and Bruno Industrial Ltda of Brazil for the manufacture, marketing, and operation of KDS equipment in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. This agreement did not proceed, however a machine was sold and delivered to Brazil last quarter.
Tech, I'm pretty sure the Brazil deal falling through was new. I never really pay attention much to the options part of the filings, so I don't know.
Nice to have an update on the EC situation. It could have used another proof-reading before submitting though.
"Last year, The Company signed a distribution agreement with Energy Cabin to represent there products in North America. One system was sold to Nakusp Energy Corp and is now under construction. The project was delayed due to local permitting issues, but should be completed next quarter. FASC continues to oversee this project, but after a change of direction and management at Energy Cabin in Austria, the FASC is no longer listed as an Energy Cabin distributor, but may initiate future projects on a case by case basis."
Oh well, if the worst thing this management does is make spelling mistakes, we have some pretty good management for a BB stock.
The share buyback impressed me most, I think.
Looking forward to the next 10Q or maybe even a PR beforehand. Bagasse application and biosolids treatment application have me the most excited. Although after a year of no PRs, I don't know if excited is the word. I envy all new-comers to this stock, I think soon is the time for this company to shine...although I thought that when I got in, almost 2 years back. GLTA
Go FASC.
I suppose saying it came out on the 19th might be an inaccurate statement. It was filed on the 19th.
Still too many spelling mistakes for my liking.
Good DD by TR on RB re: the 10Q.
10Q came out on the 19th. Link inside.

Thanks HC. Hopefully a success in Nakusp will get FASC back on the EC distributors list.

From oil to biomass: RP turns to cleaner power

MANILA, Philippines--THE COUNTRY CAN TAP AROUND 200 megawatts (MW) of new power capacity from biomass sources, and enable it to veer away from coal and oil to generate power.
In a recent presentation, Mario Marasigan, director of the Department of Energy’s energy utilization and management bureau, said that a number of biomass projects are now either ongoing or the subject of feasibility studies.
The projects included the 30-MW Talisay bagasse-fired co-generation facility, the 50-MW Victorias Milling Co. bagasse-fired co-generation plant, the 12-MW Universal Robina Corp. bagasse-fired power facility, and the 20-MW Bais bagasse-fired power plant, all in Negros Occidental.
Other projects included the 1-MW La Suerte rice hull power project in Isabela, the 8-MW Inter-City rice hull power plant in Bulacan, and the 25-MW Panay bagasse-fired power project in Panay.
These projects can produce a combined 143 MW of capacity, Marasigan said.
He added that another 45.4 MW of capacity could be produced from 10 indicative rice hull projects in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
In Luzon alone, he said these potential rice hull projects could contribute 33.7 MW in additional capacity, with 9.9 MW to come from Isabela, 9.9 MW from San Jose City in Nueva Ecija, 2.5 MW from Talavera in Nueva Ecija, 2.5 MW from Muñoz in Nueva Ecija, 5.2 MW from Camarines Sur and 3.7 MW from Mindoro Occidental.
Another 6.5 MW would come from the Visayas, specifically from Iloilo (2.5 MW), Palawan (1.5 MW) and Bohol (2.5 MW).
In Mindanao, 5.2 MW in biomass capacity would come from the South Cotabato area.
As world oil prices continue to escalate, the DOE is urging greater use of biomass for power generation and alternative fuels for transport.
Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes had earlier stressed the importance of gradually veering away from imported coal and oil, to shield the country from price volatilities and from the adverse effects of climate change.
Viable energy sources, he said, included biomass and biofuels.
FWIW, NITE moved up from .015 to .019, trumping the best bid of .0185.
.022! On a 500 share trade...
I've read this a few times along the way, I've never really looked to see if it plays out. Anyways, it's possible all those times a small buy went through, it wasn't (or was more than) a paint...
Bid should be moving up, if this was a signal.
100 > I need shares
200 > I need shares badly but don’t take it down to get them
300 > Take the price down to get shares....
400 > Trade it sideways based on Supply and Demand
500 > Gap one-way or the other, usually to the direction
of the 500 trade. Sometimes -if in the middle -keep the price right
where it is.

Well Sam, hopefully you will have something to read today which will be on-topic and (hopefully) informative.
10Q = the FASC shareholder's PR. lol
Thanks sam.
You gotta just gotta love those 100 share prints.
Would somebody mind giving me a real time quote w/ volume, please?
Hmm am I going crazy or was my post deleted and then returned? Anyways, I'm sorry if my information is inaccurate but I try to always be honest and diligent when it comes to message board posts, especially when people have money on the line.
Nice censorship work boyz. eom
WWEN sure smells like a scam to me. Always has, and it just gets riper over time. (And I don't mean for the pickin'.)
