IMO, the only thing I can think of to answer your question is the fact that NEOM has the patents which protect these various types of applications. Chaz Fritz has been quoted as a Visionary by the WSJ and had ideas of this technology back in the late 80's. He and his fathers company began an extensive patent protection application process back in the 90's and has only added to their base filings.

ChangeWave has been promoting NEOM for a number of months now. Albeit, while any proactive coverage is always welcome, I think we are getting a couple of nibbles from a few fund companies. I hope they begin to bite. There are certain dynamics or a syngery which must first occur before all this can really begin. I suspect that is why we are here, because we all know that NEOM has the patents and the technology for the next domain name registration via mobile accessibility. Good post and welcome. Microsoft Debuts MSN Spaces for Bloggers
By ALLISON LINN
SEATTLE (AP) - Hoping to keep more Internet users in its branded universe, Microsoft Corp. has become the latest company to offer blogging to the masses.
MSN Spaces, which debuts in test form Thursday, makes it easy to set up Web journals without needing highly technical skills. It is targeted at home users who want to share vacation pictures, text journals or a list of favorite songs.
It is free to anyone with a Hotmail e-mail or MSN Messenger account, both of which also are free. MSN Spaces will be supported by banner ads.
Plenty of other companies already offer similar tools for creating and maintaining Web logs that track everything from workday antics to political gossip.
Microsoft rival America Online Inc. has provided its members with AOL Journals since mid-2003, and search engine leader Google Inc. - another key Microsoft competitor - offers a free service through its Blogger.com site. The makers of the Movable Type blogging software offer the popular TypePad service, starting at $4.95 a month.
Microsoft already offers MSN Groups for people to create their own Web site, but this is the first time it is focusing on the growing blogging phenomenon.
Noting that Microsoft has initially missed the boat on some technologies, such as Web search, Jupiter Research analyst Michael Gartenberg said companies must offer these products early, or risk losing them to rival services permanently.
Although Microsoft trails Google and AOL, Gartenberg said it's not too late because blogging is only just catching on with mainstream users.
According to a February report from the Pew Internet and American Life Project, only 2 percent of Americans have created blogs, while 11 percent have read those of others.
Microsoft is closely linking MSN Spaces with its Messenger and Hotmail programs on the premise that people will hop from one Microsoft product to another for online communications.
For example, users can set up a system that alerts friends on MSN Messenger when they have new blog entries. Bloggers can choose to restrict access to a select group of friends and family, but guests will need to use Microsoft's ``Passport'' to log in. The most common way to do so is to sign up for Hotmail or Messenger.
Users can update their MSN Spaces from the Web or remotely via e-mail or cell phone. AOL lets users update via its instant messenger software.
Microsoft also is tying MSN Spaces with other offerings like music sales, stepping up its competition with such companies as Apple Computer Inc. and Google. One tool lets users create a list of favorite music, with automatic links to Microsoft's MSN Music site, where Microsoft is hoping to build a business selling songs online.
Blake Irving, a Microsoft corporate vice president in charge of MSN's communications efforts, said the company has no plans to offer similar links to rivals such as Apple's iTunes.
The final version of MSN Spaces is expected by next June. While the company plans to keep MSN Spaces free, Irving wouldn't rule out a paid, premium blog service down the road.
Google no longer sells a premium service, opting instead to fold the extra features into the free version.
An update to MSN Messenger, also debuting in test from Thursday, will add Microsoft's MSN search bar to a tab on the software. Users also will be able to highlight and click on a group of words in an instant message to search the Web.
Microsoft also will make it easier to send instant messages through a Web-based interface so users can communicate if even that computer doesn't have the Messenger software installed.

Suppliers Struggle With Wal-Mart ID-Tag Plan
By SUSAN WARREN
Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL
November 18, 2004; Page B4
Suppliers of products sold by Wal-Mart Stores Inc. say they will meet the retail giant's January deadline to begin using a new electronic-labeling technology -- but most are doing as little as they can to meet the goal.
Wal-Mart set the deadline hoping to speed up adoption of radio-transmitter tags, which promise to revolutionize how products flow in and out of stores. The world's largest retailer asked its top 100 suppliers to begin using the tags on at least some products they deliver to Wal-Mart by the end of January.
But manufacturers are growing concerned that they are being pushed too far, too fast, and worry they'll be forced to sink large sums into unproven "radio ID" technology for no reason other than pleasing Wal-Mart. As a result, many suppliers are looking to meet the retailer's deadline without committing any more time or money than they absolutely must.
"There is a lot of anxiety and a lot of uncertainty in the market," says Christine Spivey Overby, a Forrester Research Inc. analyst who has been studying the technology, known in the industry as radio-frequency identification, or RFID.
To counter the anxiety, Wal-Mart is offering to meet individually with suppliers to help them work out the kinks. Gus Whitcomb, a Wal-Mart spokesman, says some manufacturers are making it harder than it needs to be. "Let us talk to you and make sure you're not shooting for something unrealistic," he says.
Many industry experts consider radio ID the inevitable next wave of technology for business. The system uses tags -- tiny electronic chips with wire antennas sandwiched into adhesive labels. The chips are loaded with data that can be transmitted via radio waves to "readers," which log the information into computers for analysis.
The technology is already commonplace for such uses as ID cards that unlock doors, wireless car access and tollbooth passes. And it's spreading fast. The Food and Drug Administration Monday cleared the way using the tags on drug packaging to prevent counterfeiting and theft.
Retailers hope to use the tags to track products more closely as they flow from the manufacturers' warehouses onto store shelves and into consumers' hands. With that information they could more precisely match inventories to customer demand, avoiding the cost of carrying too much of less-popular products while increasing revenue by having high-demand items more reliably in stock.
Wal-Mart, a pioneer in using technology to cut costs and boost sales, decided to push the adoption of radio IDs by setting its deadline. Since then, others -- including discounter Target Corp., grocery chain Albertsons Inc., electronics retailer Best Buy Co. and even the U.S. Defense Department -- have asked some of their suppliers to use radio ID, too.
Though the vision is eventually to replace the ubiquitous product bar codes with these radio ID tags -- which provide more information faster and with less labor -- right now Wal-Mart is asking only that its suppliers use the technology at the warehouse level to tag packing cases and pallets destined for three Dallas distribution centers. But Wal-Mart won't allow its suppliers to pass through the added costs of radio ID technology. Instead, it says they must find ways to use the technology that produce offsetting savings.
Suppliers are finding it hard going. The technology is still immature -- with global standards still being worked out -- making it difficult for them to figure out the best uses for the tags.
The Grocery Manufacturers of America, a consumer-goods industry group, studied 24 of its largest members' efforts to find a solid business reason for implementing radio ID. While they were optimistic about the future, the companies said tag costs need to be reduced to well below five cents each, from the current 20 to 50 cents, to ensure a positive return. That could take several more years. "Very few manufacturers -- if any -- can generate a positive return on investment for widespread [radio ID] deployment at the pallet and case level with today's tag prices," the study concluded.
Wal-Mart says that 98 of its top 100 suppliers will be using radio ID tags by the end of January, with the other two having gained an extension because of extenuating circumstances. The company adds that 38 other suppliers will be using the tags voluntarily. But for now, most are limiting their compliance to a basic system of slapping tags on cases as they're loaded onto the truck to Wal-Mart, spending as little on equipment as possible.
Even for that minimal effort, known as "slap and ship," costs can range from $10,000 to hundreds of thousands of dollars to get started -- and then more, depending on how many products are being tagged. Many companies are waiting for the technology to mature before investing more time and money.
Jeff Woods of technology research firm Gartner Inc., believes some suppliers may never find a way to make radio ID pay for itself. "Wal-Mart has wonderful ideas about how to use radio ID," he says. "And everyone wants to see Wal-Mart succeed, but they'd prefer that it not be done at their expense."
In its report, the grocery manufacturers group suggests Wal-Mart and other retailers go slower, restricting radio ID to products whose prices are high enough justify the expense of the tags. But so far, Wal-Mart shows no sign of bending.
"You're always going to have critics that say it's too early," says Wal-Mart's Mr. Whitcomb. But the retailer says it will continue to work closely with suppliers to make the technology work. "In the end," Mr. Whitcomb says, "we're not going to do something that's not a win-win-win for everybody."

The pondering primate asks interesting search questions
A guy named Scott has been sending me business ideas for months now. And once in a while I asked him "why don't you blog this?" I wanted to share him with the rest of you. Well, he still won't sign his last name to anything. Wants a bit of anonymity. I can't blame him there. He's not real slick or always the best, or clearest, writer, but he has some interesting insights into the future of search. But recently he started a blog titled "The Pondering Primate."
He did know how to get my attention, though. Would write me with email titles like "here's what Google's missing" or "what happens when search and advertising go mobile?"
I love customers who challenge us to do better and see things that we aren't yet seeing. That's why I subscribed to Scott's blog. His editorial mostly exists of questions, but, boy, what questions!
Welcome Hairwave...
I've read your post and believe one way in which to get the patent infringers to notice NEOM is by setting a precedence; a landmark decision, ruling or settlement by which other infringers can be measured. I believe that case will be the patent infringement suit that NEOM has filed against Virgin. Hopefully once a landmark settlement is obtained, the rest will follow suit like falling dominos. It was infered at the SM that Virgin may not be an issue going forward; that Virgin was speaking to NEOM's brass directly. This is a good sign. I also believe Success posted something about Virgin due back in court with NEOM this coming Jan., 05.
Secondly regarding the sharecount, stocks such as SIRI, TASR and quite a few others have a hugh amount of shares Outstanding and have done very well with large floats. I believe if a major announcement such as a European Service Provider (Vodafone), US Service Provider (Verizon), settlement with Virgin, AirClick or Scan Buy, contract with the US-DOD, adoptation of NEOM's Check 21 technology, announcements of Brand Partners such as Proctor & Gamble or an equity interest stake taken by the likes of DuPont in NMPR, etc. etc. etc., the share count will become moot; because by that time all the Big Kahuna's, i.e. Hedge Funds, Micro-Cap Funds, Wall St. speculators will have bought by the millions. NEOM's brass understands this fact.
However, they are also shareholders as well. They want to see the share price appreciate just like the rest of us. Don't be suprised to hear one day that a share buy-back has been implementated and in a very big way.
Lastly, NEOM visited with MSFT three (3) times this year out in Seattle, WA. So, we know for a fact that they are talking with one another. MSFT would be smart to strike a deal with NEOM now before the likes of Google jumps the gun.
Hope this helps. All the Best, JP
