Can someone please explain to me, and other novice investors, what it means when there is a big gap between the bid and the ask? Is that a sign of volatility? Should we expect big movements one way or the other?
Charlie (SILL powderless)
The ladies won't be disappointed, I'm tellin' ya!
Who doesn't like a generous man with a big wad of cash??
Charlie - searching for my, lost shaker of salt
STI, I agree! And look, here it is back up to where we started today at 24's.
or maybe it was a really large sell order (for tax purposes?) that had to go through at 20?? Just goes to prove the point that not EVERYONE that owns large quantities of stock actually know what the heck they are doing.
Let's see... should I sell now for a little tax break? or hold on for a few more weeks and get perhaps a 400% gain... hmmmm I think I'll sell now. WHAT?!? I'd rather have the BIGGEST wad in my pants that I can get. (cash, that is) A small tax break aint gonna get it done boys and girls.

You are right that this is a closing window of opportunity we are seeing right now.
It's the waiting part that is killing me! I turned positive at .0018, so I'm not nervous, just anxious!
I wonder how the Carbon Credit program is "moving forward"?
from the Letter from the President, "We are also moving forward with our agriculture and Carbon Credit programs as stated in our December 2nd field report."
Good times ahead, and yes, I'll be buying drinks and everything else at RGI. Hell, we ALL will and we'll all be so rich we won't even care or notice. I'll have a buldge in my pants because yes, I'm happy, AND I have a wad of cash in my pocket!
Charlie
OK How about predictions for January 2011??
Our first PR announcing the first month of production will include X amount of ounces of Gold????
Well, using John's conservative estimate and adding a little because it was after all, conservative, I'm guessing we'll bring in at least 300 pounds of gold THIS YEAR. If our mining season is about 6 months, then that is 50 pounds a month. There are 12 TROY ounces in a pound, so 50 x 12 = 600 troy oz of gold per month.
600 x 1400 per oz = $840,000 JUST IN GOLD. (some may argue that the $1400 per oz is just a little high, but I haven't even said boo about the Diamonds.)
So this is ALL on the low side as far as estimates go and we're already talking about gross income of over a million bucks per month!
Why would ANYONE sit on any powder when you can STILL buy 4 shares for a penny RIGHT NOW??
Go Get 'em!
Charlie (powderless)
I predict We'll Be Going TO DA MOON!!!
(he he just HAD to say that at least once!)
Seriously, I think we'll touch a penny after the next PR (I HOPE they put out a PR) annoucing the start of the season and the first months production results.
If anyone has any faith that the above staement is even close to being right then they should have already shot their wad and bought heavy.... i know I did.

No problem Slob. My order stayed in there all day and didn't get filled. Served me right, huh? I wasn't in a hurry and I was in the mood to get it as low as possible. I don't think that we'll see any news or FRs to affect the PPS until the second week of the new year, so no hurries.
I was just havin some fun talking about teens. I'm glad and feel fortunate to have what I have and will be even more proud to stack on some more, whenever I can.
Merry Christmas and Peace to ALL
Charlie
Fidelity, you're talking about the broker, and not something about marraige, right?? Got confused with the remote starter discussion. lol
anyway, I've got a little powder now, not much, but I would sure like to have another chance at some teens. Anyone wanna SELL some teens to me?
(singing)
What a day for a daydream.....
New Photo order on website?
Is it just my imagination, or did John re-arrange the order of the Photos on the website? It's still 98 photos, but I think they are now grouped better.

Maybe there are more changes to come??
Charlie
MM's are playing with us! The bid/ask is at their whim. All these buys at the bid are then recorded as SELLS when you actually bought them. It's just a silly game. IK'm just glad we're getting more.
BTW, I just hit the ask for 40,000 shares. That's probably going to be the ONLY listed buy in the last hour, when we all just heard that Roberto just bought a bunch.
Charlie
Another example of MM's playin' with us!!
I wanted to buy 100k shares at 26, but the ask was 27, so I lowered my order amount to 90k at the ask of 27. It went through within 5 seconds, and the "Last sales price" dropped to 26. Now I see that MY order was filled at 26 and it was recorded as a SELL instead of a buy.
I didn't want to lower the PPS by buying at the bid, I wanted to buy at the ask. They didn't let me. Had I known I could only buy at the bid then I would have bought an even 100k!
Gezz
Charlie
Darn MM'S!!!!
I've been debating buying 100k in my new ROTH and if I should do it today or not.... I just did it, and I did it at the ask of 27. Not more than 5 seconds later the MM's take er back down to 26....
oh well, who cares when we're gonna be on RGI very soon now...
Charlie
Pro-Truck, Yes we are ALL getting old!
And Yes, I also remember this same thing happening last year right before the web page got the new pictures.
Makes me wonder about the mechanics of changing an active web page.... can we still see the old info while the new info is being updated? Maybe yes, and maybe no?
It would be VERY NICE to see some new pictures from Doug.
Charlie
B4, That was a very good article! My favorite part is the way it ended.
For those who don't have the time to read it (it was rather long), here is the ending...
In June 2003, the United nations lifted the ban on the sale of Sierra Leone diamonds, and the government of President Tijjan Kabbah, embraced the Kimberley Process, leading to increased investment in the diamond mining sector. Since the introduction of the Kimberley process, the export of legally mined diamonds increased rapidly from $ 10 million in year 2000, to $ 76 million in 2003, $ 127 million in 2004, and $ 140 million in 2005.
It appears that since the discovery of diamonds in Sierra Leone in January 1930, for the first time the benefits accruing from this valuable natural resource are beginning to reach the impoverished masses of this poor African nation.
********************************
Isn't that GREAT! The benefits are reaching the poor. That sounds just like John and Doug too, doesn't it?
another interesting part was....
The diamond fields cover an area that constitute about one-third of the total area of the country. The diamond fields are mainly concentrated in the Kono, Kenema and Bo districts, and are situated in the drainage basins of Sewa, Bafi, Mano, Woa and Moa rivers.
*********************8
Isn't that where we are dredging??? hmmmmmm we could have some winners here! ding ding ding...
Ka-PLUNCK! what the heck was that??? oh, nevermind that sound. It's just a couple of diamonds dropping into the sluice box!
Charlie
Thanks STI, I forgot about that FR. How could I have forgotten THAT one when that was what made me (and a lot of us) so P'd off? We didn't want just 2 dates a year. I even sold a lot of my shares over that, but since then I have bought then back and more)
So now we are getting numbers almost every month (except December) and I forgot about this FR.
Good to know.... Thanks.
Charlie
Why is everyone so POSITIVE that the production results will be released on 1/15?? Did John make some kind of firm commentment to this date?
All these positive projections / guesses / estimates just makes me want to buy more.... anyone want to buy one of my kidneys?? j/k
I'm actually hoping that the PPS stays low or where it is for another couple weeks so that I may buy a little more BEFORE it jumps. Of course, if it explodes tomorrow and goes up to a penny, well, I won't be complaining.
You guys have me convienced that it's going to reach a couple of pennies THIS SEASON!
IF YOU BELIEVE IT'S SO, PUT UP SOME DOUGH!
GLTA
Charlie
I'm with you guys all the way on the PPS going to .01 then up to a nickel and maybe even a dime.
But I think that we can ALL agree that the movement in PPS will not happen without a PRESS RELEASE. I understand what Doug and John are doing and I am giving them all the patience I can muster, but it's the PR that will set us free on RGI.
Maybe THAT should be our next song lyrics... Patience waitin' on the news.
My patience is being tested
oh yeah, while I've been waitin'
waitin' for the News.
It won't take me very much
to try to break the sielent waitin'
and fight off the downwrd Blues.

Great find, Grawsha!
Two sections that I liked the best:
The rules adopted by the Air Resources Board, the state's climate change regulator, limit emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases and let power plants, factories and eventually refiners and others to trade permits to pollute in a program generally known as cap-and-trade.
California will become the second-largest carbon market in the world, following a European system. Point Carbon, a Thomson Reuters company, forecasts the market will grow from $1.7 billion in 2012 to nearby $10 billion in 2016, with prices rising from $10 a metric ton in 2012 to $18 per ton in 2016.
*************
and:
Factories and power producers will be able to bear some of the burden for cutting emissions with credits for projects that soak up carbon, known as offsets. There is already a market in such offsets, and prices have jumped in the last several weeks to about $8 a ton, traders said.

I wanna be part of the 10 million club!! I do I do!
but I only have 1.7 million right now. I'm sure that's enough to make it to the island, but I want more just to make sure I've done all that I can.
There are so many ways that this can be a success, are there really that many things that will make it fail? If you look at it from an odds perspective, I like the odds for success.
Charlie
Sarshee, it's in the Oct 26th field report.
5.Carbon Credit Project: Sierra Gold, for a variety of reasons to move its projects forward, has severed its business relationship with Green Giant Venture Fund. Sierra gold is currently in the process of taking its projects to full validation using the expertise of an accredited Professional in the Carbon Credit industry. Further, the Company is reviewing options to expand its project opportunities within Sierra Leone.
Charlie
Gem, That's what I've been saying..... We've had a month and a half of SOMETHING over there.... it sure would be a nice Christmas present to hear about some new numbers.
But what I've really got my hopes up on is Carbon Credit News!! When I was talking with John I ALMOST got him to agree that dropping Green Giant was worthy of a PR. It is a substantial change within SGCP, isn’t it?
Maybe someone that calls him next could bring this up.
Charlie - future RGI resident!
We'd better be able to wear some clothes on RGI..... I don't think anyone wants to see this hairy bear giggling around (Women sreaming in the background).
Hey, I've talked a work-buddy into buying SGCP. His funds clear in a couple of days, so don't everyone buy at once, ok? In fact, why don't all the bashers sell right now so the PPS will be low for his entry point. j/k around, of course. Didn't someone else say that this stock is a bargin at any price below .005?
Do I get an ungrade on RGI for referring a friend?
Charlie
Thanks for the clarification.
I don't know ow much I'll put in there yet, but I'm starting it tomorrow.
Charlie
Something to share with all of you…. And it’s about my plans with my SGCP stock, so I feel it is on point…..
This may sound basic and stupid to some of you old-timers, but if it’s news to me, then maybe someone else who reads this may also have a light go off in his or her head.
I’m trying to prepare for the Big Bang with SGCP, and also thinking about my retirement at the same time. We all know that Uncle Sam is gonna get us with Capital gains tax when we sell our treasured SGCP (after it hits Big, of course)
I just got off the phone with E-Trade about opening a Roth IRA and putting some of my SGCP stock in there. Unfortunately you can’t transfer stock into a IRA, but you can fund it with cash and then BUY the stock within the account. Then later I can sell the stock (with NO CAPITAL GAINS TAX and use the cash to buy other stocks, or re-invest back into the same stock later (Call me Flipper if you wish) as long as it’s all within the ROTH account and No withdraws are taking place.
I can’t withdraw from the account for at least 5 years, but I can sell and hold and NOT PAY TAX. Not now, or when I withdraw after age 59. This sounds GREAT, especially if SGCP goes up 10,000%!
I’m 54 years old, so this sounds good to me for some of my SGCP stock. I’ll sell some in my current account and then transfer the money into my Roth and then buy back the SGCP stock. I may have to wait 3 days for the sale to clear, but maybe not…. If I have to wait then this may be risky as we are waiting for news to break. If I’m holding the cash and Not the Stock then I could end up a very sad boy indeed. I’ll do some small amount first to test it out…..
GO SGCP!!! And if I’m putting this into a IRA account then I can’t be Longer than that!
Charlie
"I expect our President to clarify something in the next FR." from TOSCA
I'm a hopin' for a little info about how all of this affects SGCP and our SL1. I'd love to see that get kickstarted!
No correction needed. You are correct. But wouldn't it be nice of them to let us know now what we've got, and then again in Jan. 15th? Then we'd have a starting point from now till then. Otherwise we'd get all the stuff from Nov. pre-production mixed in.
I know I'm just being anxious, but hell, isn't everyone?
Charlie
B4, GREAT points! Let's add a few more....
From the Sept 23 field report
Carbon Credits
•With the climate conference in Cancun and the upcoming U.S. elections all taking place in November there is much uncertainty in what direction the Carbon Credit market will take. Given the above, the company has reviewed various options to fast-track its marketing potential and has been advised by third party consultants that taking the project to full validation offers the best chance to achieve this goal and therefore will continue to pursue this option.
Let's see... The Nov elections are over, and now so is the Cancun Climate Conference.
And we haven't heard about any new extraction numbers since Oct 31, so I'm betting that they have some awesome numbers to tell us about.
And isn't Doug due bcak from SL this Wednesday? Well, he IS in daily contact with John so we don't really need to wait for his return to get an update, do we?
Wouldn't it be GREAT to get a PR tomorrow (or this week) about the start of the mining season, extraction numbers so far, and a Carbon Credit update, all in one PR?
I'm thinking about selling a loser stock at a extreme loss just so I can put in every dollar into SGCP that I can. This thing COULD have a 1000% increase in PPS (IMO of course!) so I want to get my fair share!
GO SGCP! GO LONG!!!! GO LONGER!!
Charlie
More Carbon News!
This is good stuff, Grawsha. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me (and others too I hope) to look for more.
I'm sure that there will be much more published in the next few days, so we should continue to search the web under
"Cancun Climate Conference" and
"REDD" (which stands for Reducing Emssions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation)
In general it sounds like people are saying that the Cancun Conf. was a success. A lot of talk about preserving existing forests, but it also includes Carbon Credits. One of the concerns is corruption in the distribution of the money as well as the treatment and exploitation of the locals.
from the article:
CANCUN, Mexico — For a climate change conference that began with universally low expectations, the Cancun meeting achieved surprisingly concrete progress, including an agreement to help preserve tropical forests.
Despite lacking the teeth many wanted, the deforestation provisions offer a way to protect forests through international agreements. Delegates also agreed to set up a fund to help poorer countries adapt to climate change and strengthened the emissions promises made at last year's Copenhagen conference. None of the provisions are binding.
The deforestation framework, known as REDD+ (which stands for Reducing Emssions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation, the + was recently added to denote broader ecosystem conservation) creates incentives to keep forests standing and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Its supporters say it will help to slow climate change.
and....
But many fear this protection means ownership, and REDD+ has numerous sincere critics. The offset program puts a value on the carbon in trees, which many feel cedes ownership to those who have paid to protect the trees.
here is the link

Grawsha, you are the one closest to this new info and should be the one to make the call, IMO. Talking with John is a very easy thing to do. Just pick up the phone and ask your question.
Do it when you have some time though because that guy CAN TALK!
Charlie
Oh I wanna be a SierraGold Winner,
That is what I truely wanna BeeEEee
Cuz if I were a SierraGOld Winner,
Everyone would be in Love wit me!
Colts3838 "Did you happen to discuss when the next few would be built?"
No, we didn't discuss timelines for building dredges. I know we'll have a new one ready sometime in Jan 2011 (I can't find the reference for that now though) and I believe I read somewhere that it takes them about 2 months to build each dredge. I don't know what the gating factor is for building more. Is it getting the parts through customs, or manpower to build them at the compound, or having the operators to use them once their built?
That would be a good question for someone to ask John in a phone call.....
Charlie
I didn't just slap the ASk, all I can say is that I felt it a little.... lol
I just used some spare change to buy another 32,000 shares.
Not much right now, but I'm NOT selling these until the very end and then I'll buy a car with 'em. Mark my words... A CAR! 5 years from now.
Charlie LONG and STRONG!
(off to work now!)
I think they are going to be BUILDING a lot of dredges. How many MILES of river do we have concessions for? Isn't one river of mining over 20 miles long? Given that we can't dredge every mile, but still how many years would it take with only 4 dredges?
In my conversation with John I asked about getting things through customs and apparently it's not too bad of a problem, but you have to pay a lot to get it done. I asked if that was a reason for the dredge manufacturing in SL. If we ship in the parts and put it together then it looks a lot cheaper to the guys collecting $$$ at the customs port.
I'm glad I'm in!
Charlie
Good song lyrics PTruck!
I looked it up and I've never heard tis country song, but I might try to find it. Heres more lyrics from it.
Knee deep in the water somewhere
got the blue sky breeze blowin' wind thru my hair
only worry in the world
is the tide gonna reach my chair
Sounds cool to me!
I'm running the numbers through my head to figure out how much I need to make off this stock to quit my job. Is $500,000 enough or should I wait till I make a cool million????
Such questions to ponder when you own SGCP.
Maybe I'll buy just a little more with some spare change this morning.... A little now COULD buy me a car in a few years....
Charlie
B4, thanks for the compliment!
I really only have a couple of hours in the morning to play around on the computer and look at stock stuff. After that it's hi ho, hi ho and off to work I go. Except I have Mondays off. If I see someting, I'll share it. I've gotten SO MUCH from you guys that I just feel I need to give some back.
I'm feeling like I'm no longer a 'newbie' and now I'm more of a confident long term investor in a company that will make me tons of profit while giving the local people of SL tons of help.
I just thought of this.... this is a great stock for an average Joe that is Liberal. I'll get rich and help the poor at the same time! Win Win. ( I cracked myself up on that!)
GO SGCP!
Charlie
Cork?!?
