If you sold, you could write off a capital loss as well. Think it's $3000 per year. If you sold and took a $10,000 loss, you could write off $3000 per year for 3 years and $1000 on the 4th year. I took a $40,000 loss many years ago and wrote off $3000 for 13 years, LOL

An 8k is for any material event that is released for transparency reasons. They are for both, positive and negative reasons. In VXIT's case, Jimmy said it was positive.
