Volume being just 2340, I would not ever assume there is anything illegal going on. My opinion: human stupidity and/or panic. Someone sold their 500 shares at 0.58 after buying at 2.77 and that's that. Stupider things have happened. Or a more likely one, someone opened a short position at the bid. I remember seeing 0.58 on the bid, so it could also be that, a 500 share short position.
Thanks! :) I will now proceed to unload all my shares. Thanks again
MGT
Yeah, it just follows a pattern. People expect to make a couple of bucks flipping it so it will continue in this cycle until more major news that the typical investor understands. Until then, no matter what comes out, they call it "fluff". It's all good... I'm in this long as well, but I too have learned to flip this around and make those few bucks while maintaining a core.
This is a great update for the company, and consistent with what McAfee has been saying for months. I find this consistency very important and assuring - McAfee knows what he is doing, and he is executing on his plans. He just hired these people, the top hackers we know of (plus I am sure he has other hacker connections that choose/need to remain anonymous while helping him) that the government and most corporations would never hire.
"McAfee says the reason China and Russia have such a substantial advantage over the US when it comes to cyber security can be traced to one thing: the type of people those governments are willing to hire."
" I think our government is illiterate in cybersecurity for the following reasons:
Number one, it's become a massive bureaucracy, where no one is ever fired—you're just promoted. And the technology departments are out of date; they do not keep up with changing technology. And they have a life time job so, why should they care? Number two, they will not hire the only people who can help them; that is the hackers of the world.
And why? Have you ever been to Defcon or Hack Miami or any hacking group? Well you see what people look like. Mohawks a half mile high, pierced ears, face tattoos. And every one of them is going to demand that they smoke weed on the job. Now, the government isn't going to hire those people. But I promise you, if you went to China, or Russia, and knocked on the doors of the Kremlin or the equivalent in China, and said, "I'm the world's greatest hacker, will you hire me," they'll say absolutely! And you say "Well wait a minute, I need to smoke weed," they'll say "Perfect, we'll put you in the basement and you can smoke as much as you want." Why? Because they're smart! We're stupid.
We want everybody to look like the bureaucracy. To wear a three-piece suit, polish your shoes, blue tie, and look and act like everyone else. Well that's not hacking. And that is not creative. And it does not create a society that can keep up. We're twenty years behind the Russians and Chinese."
Hahaha nice, I did the same thing... I like even numbers
In with 8,500 post-split shares. Let's see what happens.
I am just wondering, will your opinion change when (or "if") this vote does take place and McAfee is CEO on paper and with the SEC? I am curious when (or "if") that happens, what your opinion of the company would be. Thanks!
Elijah: Comments from December 2015 Regarding Demonsaw
Below are some comments Elijah made on another message board back in December 2015, talking about his vision and commitment towards Demonsaw. This is way before MGT, and way before Elijah even had any plans to commercialize this product. Again it's very important to note the timeline here, this was over 6 months ago, and since then, Elijah's product and vision grew, and we can already see that there are business plans in place to follow too, since he joined McAfee in this venture. The take-away from below, is the level of commitment and skill being put forth by our now CTO (of MGT). Elijah is the dedicated and passionate programmer, and McAfee is the one who will make this profitable, and our new Board of Directions (starting with Nolan) will ensure that they remain profitable.
December 2015:
Elijah: "Just a minor correction... I've never received any type of investment (money or other contributions) for demonsaw. I've never made any money on demonsaw, nor do I even have a plan to do so. I've done this all on my own and have spent thousands of dollars of my own money in the last 2+ years. McAfee is just a friend and spokesperson for demonsaw - nothing more."
"Thank you. I resigned from Rockstar Games ~2 months ago to focus full-time on demonsaw. I worked for Rockstar almost 5 years, and during that time I shipped GTAV on 5 different platforms (PS3, 360, PC, XB1, PS4). GTAV made a lot of money and Rockstar Games was very generous with respect to financially compensating its employees (bonuses, etc). Instead of spending that money, I decided to use it to fund my work on demonsaw. I have enough in reserve to spend the next few years focusing on demonsaw, in hopes of safeguarding our privacy & maybe even saving the Internet for future generations."
"We need to make sure that adding an API doesn't create additional attack vectors and/or make the app confusing to use by non-technical individuals."
"Demonsaw is designed for everyone, not just technically savvy individuals. Why have so many different distros of Linux if 1 could suffice? (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_distributions) It's because everybody is different, and sometimes our preferences are different. People want simplicity and ease of use first, security & anonymity second. But they want all of this in an easy-to-use and simple-to-understand package that meets their needs. Demonsaw does this.
Demonsaw provides file sharing, chat, and private message right now. Android in 2 months. In 3.0 we're adding file sync, streaming, and demoncast (a spotify-like feature). In 4.0 we're adding VOIP, and API, etc. In 5.0 even more.
I'm committing the next 3-5 years of my life to demonsaw to make this the best information sharing app in the world. I'm not going anywhere."
"Through our hacking and programming skillz we have the ability to make the world a better place. And that's exactly what we're going to do"
"(Someone commented: I remember you stating in DS chat that you had plans to profit from corporate use of demonsaw.)
That's still the idea - I just haven't had any time to think much about business version. Right now, I'm surviving off of my GTAV bonus money as I code the Android version (March release) and version 3.0 (Defcon 24 release). Once DC24 is over in August I'll start working on a plan to fork the demonsaw code for a Business version (to be developed in parallel to the free version). The goal is to make some amount of money from a Business version before my GTAV bonus money runs out (2-3 years from now).
I understand the concern of demonsaw not being 100% open source. And I definitely don't expect anybody to trust me. But I am focused 100% on making demonsaw the best privacy & information sharing application in the existence, and I'm willing to use up my life savings to do it."
Good chance we see $5 in August. Until then it will be a boring ride. Worth the wait though
Giving me flashbacks of AVXL. I agree with what you're saying but after AVXL, I am very VERY happy being here due to the fact that this stock remains "relatively unknown" or inaccessible.
The second this gets on the big stage expect Alex F and every major short seller with a following to take a dump on it (non-factual... just scare tactics regarding value, finances, dilution, and this sort of typical bullshit) . I am happy with this going under the radar, up until as far as it can get towards approval so we don't have to deal with extreme levels of manipulation.
Sooner or later its true success and value will prevail, but I prefer the less bumpy ride...
(of course short-term investors prefer the exposure for quick flips etc, I am talking from a long-term perspective)
Now, Sheen says he is making his health a top priority, and getting injections of CytoDyn’s PRO 140 every week to keep his disease at bay. “I already feel cleaner, lighter, healthier, clearer in my thinking and currently there’s no trace of the virus in my blood count,” he insisted. “I’m 100 percent undetectable. This isn’t necessarily a cure but it’s a much more effective treatment.”
All I need to know to continue holding on to my investment here, at this time.
The board already voted him in. We are waiting for the shareholders to vote and that takes time. There is no official timeline on when that process will be completed.
Because John becoming CEO is part of the d-vasive purchase and it requires the shareholders vote.
"As previously announced, MGT has executed asset purchase agreements to acquire certain technology and assets from D-Vasive Inc., a provider of leading edge anti-spy software, and Demonsaw LLC, a provider of a secure and anonymous file sharing software platform. In conjunction with the anticipated acquisitions, the Company also announced the proposed appointment of John McAfee as Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer upon closing of the transactions. "
They can bring in any director they want whenever they want. John being CEO on paper is contingent on closing of transactions (d-vasive) and this needs shareholder vote which takes time and I just cannot wait till this fact unfolds so we can carry on watching what this company does rather than what it already did (bring on John as CEO).
Slides are up.

Looking good.. from a quick glance. Just the timeline is tricky on the short-term. Patience and long-term will pay off here. Unless a buyout before FDA approval, in which case it will pay off without the patience lol

For what it's worth, more facts on the Atari piece:
Nolan continued to have disagreements with Warner Management over the direction of the company, the discontinuing of the Pinball division and most importantly, he felt that the Atari 2600 should be discontinued. In 1978, the Kee Games brand was dropped. In December of that year during a heated argument between Nolan Bushnell and Manny Gerard, Bushnell was fired. "We started fighting like cats and dogs. And then the wheels came off that fall. Warner claimed they fired me," recalled Bushnell. "I say I quit. It was a mutual separation."
In 2010, he joined the Atari SA board of directors.
Not the first time a founder is forced out/fired/leaves his company after major disagreements on how the company should be run.
Robert_Ladd ran a different business and a different company. John McAfee is the one building MGT right now. He is in charge, he gets the credit and the blame moving forward.
Different company, different market. Robert Ladd and what he did in online casino gaming and whatnot is irrelevant here.

JUNE 7, 2016 NEWS: MGT Appoints Nolan Bushnell to its Board of Directors
HARRISON, N.Y., June 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MGT Capital Investments, Inc. (NYSE MKT: MGT) today announces the appointment of Nolan Bushnell to its Board of Directors. Bushnell will serve as an independent director, effective immediately.
Nolan Bushnell is a technology pioneer who is best known as the founder of the Atari Corporation and Chuck E. Cheese. Bushnell has also founded more than 20 companies during his career, including Catalyst Technologies, the first technology incubator; ByVideo, the first online ordering system; Etak, the first digital navigation system; UWink, the first touchscreen menu ordering and entertainment system; and BrainRush, an educational software company. Bushnell also served as a director on the boards of Wave Systems Corporation, a developer and distributor of hardware-based digital security products, and of AirPatrol Corporation/Sysorex (NASDAQ: SYRX), which makes indoor positioning systems. He was also on the board of directors at Neoedge Networks, a technology and in-game advertising company that enabled casual game publishers to deliver television-like commercials within their products.
John McAfee, proposed Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MGT Capital, stated, "Nolan is one of the brightest minds in cyber technology. In his career, he has founded more than 20 high tech companies, giving him unprecedented knowledge of the tech industry. As a director, he will help MGT identify and cultivate the necessary strategic partnerships to position the company as the world leader in cyber security."
"As founder of Atari, one of the first Silicon Valley mega-success stories, Nolan single handedly created the video game industry and continues to shape its future today. It is within this industry that much of the leading edge artificial intelligence techniques are being applied, and I believe artificial intelligence will shape the future of cyber security and provide the impetus for MGT's success," concluded McAfee.
Bushnell commented, "I am excited to join MGT along with John McAfee to build one of the most powerful cyber security companies in the industry and address an increasing number of cyber threats. There is an ever evolving flow of threats through the advancements of electronic devices we use every day with very little user protection. The opportunity is enormous in this market, and the existing companies in the cyber security space are too busy looking backwards in order to protect their existing market share to see what is happening in the market now. We at MGT are going to approach the market from a completely different perspective, by addressing these immediate needs as our priority."

Yes, all the day traders are gone, and all the people joining to ride a stock up dollars at a time, are gone. Nothing wrong with that. Everyone got to make some good money. However now the stock has stabilized, or dropping very very slowly because there is no news. There is nothing wrong with being in a stock that just so happens to not be going parabolic at this time.
This doesn't change the fact that we have John McAfee and Elijah on board, and they are building up a brand new company. I am here to see how their plan unfolds, whatever this plan may be, and make money along with them.
It is way too early right now...if we don't have anything concrete by early August (Defcon), then that's when I will be very concerned. Until then, I am confident with my investment here.
Thank you for the facts, substance, and due diligence you brought to this forum with you today.
He said the board voted him in last week, and because of that he is Acting CEO. The reality is that this is all said and done, and the paperwork and voting is simply a formality at this point. What is the chance that the shareholders vote NO to JM? Does any major shareholder really believe MGT Capital Investments is a better company with a brighter future than McAfee Global Technologies?
The vote will happen. McAfee will then be CEO on paper. And that will be that. It is a matter of WHEN it will happen, not IF.
A buyer wanted in and bought at the ask. Bought 20,000 shares for $1.05 at 10:02:49am ... and the low volume .. I wouldn't look into it much, just one person getting in ahead of the conference. Leading up to it were all small buys also at the ask, which has been around 1.04 - 1.06
Watch this video, posted earlier today

I know that, but the volume was very low at the time so when you have a group with a coordinated buy or sell at the same when the volume is minimal, any stock can move because of the group's actions.
We will find out soon.
Before considering insider training, IMO what happened was: investors and traders who were on the sidelines jumped in for power hour to be sure they don't miss after hours today and pre-market tomorrow, in case news comes out.
They jumped in as they saw a solid base form ALL day today in the low-mid 2.40s. So the upside was very high, and very little risk. This is the first time in May I see this stock not being extremely volatile nor trading sideways or stair-stepping down. It really was a good day for the stock.
All that above and then as the first wave of buyers came in and moved the price, more and more jumped in to be part of the action.
If we don't get a PR with substance tomorrow than I believe we will just retrace to 2.55-2.60 after a morning spike to 2.90s -- IMO... let's see whether I am right or not....
I hope so! Either way the stock is performing GREAT today! Happy to see we held +0.10 even through lunch hour, and now this. A significant PR tomorrow morning would get us a huge raise tomorrow. Otherwise we may retrace to 2.55~ IMO .. which is also great... 20-30 cents increase in one day is something!
Agreed. He just sold most of his position at 2.64 so let's see if this drops back down now lol will show us if his followers are selling too
His chatroom is basically to teach his "students" how to spot patterns and trade. When he buys, he announces his entry, his reason for entry, and his exit strategy, so that others would learn from it. Most people however simply follow his trades and try to get rich that way. So I can't say that a court would rule this illegal --- they would have done so years ago if that was the case.
His position here at the moment is that, this stock built strong foundation around 2.40 and this has history of spiking in the morning. So he concludes that there is LOW risk to go long (since we got a good bottom today) and wants to exit tomorrow during the spike.
He made no mention of shorting it, but we will see that come tomorrow. They tend to ride these stocks up and down, make money both ways. When they feel it has hit resistance, they will short.
I don't necessarily agree with it, but the way it is done, isn't really illegal. He simply states what position he opened, and explains to his "students" the reasons for why he purchased, and what his exit strategy is, i.e. ' i plan to sell during the morning spike that this company has a history of'
The spike in volume that pushed it up moments ago is because TS bought some to hold overnight and his followers followed. They plan to sell (and then short) into tomorrow morning's spike. Just sharing. Make of it as you like.
Welcome to the stock market, where things can either turn good, bad, or stay the same. Shocking revelation
I don't see the connection. Why should the symbol change affect the price? The official name change, official appointment as CEO, acquisitions, plan, etc will all help to move the price up. But what is the significance of a symbol change?
Fair enough.
I am thinking the exposure would move the price up-- as in when the media put up the articles after the conference, a lot of new investors could stumble upon them and learn for their first time about CYDY.
Investors reading from mainstream media to investor chat rooms... the daily volume is already so low so any wave of new investors can push us up.
We shall see I guess. I have a decent position in here but I think I have added enough so I will be strictly holding for now.
Would you say $1.25 - $1.30 is a realistic price target after the conference?
This is a tweet from tomorrow?
