They do have some sort of mechanism to have 24 hour energy..the heat creates molten salt which overnight is used to create steam. (although I might be confusing this with another solar tech)
But, even with that, I don't see them as a real competitor besides the fact that they're in the solar/alternate energy business. They don't produce nearly as much energy as SWET and the cost per MW seems roughly the same as our 1st tower. They also take up a lot more space per MW it seems.
And this bird problem seems to be creating a lot of bad press.
Looks like a competitor of ours has a bird problem.

Renewable Energy Companies to Invest $7 Billion in Chile Power
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-08-14/renewable-energy-companies-to-invest-7-billion-in-chile-power.html
Yeah, insofar as technicals, both MACD and FSTO both suggest it's an ideal time to buy. Basing this on the last 3 months... 6 months and 1yr both suggest the same thing. The only technical I see that suggests a sell is that the 15 day moving average went below the 30 day, however it's still above the 50 day. That being said, the price is below all the moving averages.
If this was a regular stock I would agree (with selling). But the stock has basically been moving sideways for the last 1-2 months...imo it's gone down only cause of lack of significant news.
Definitely not the time to sell..imo. One piece of news on the SWET FB page is that Planning Commission passed the vote to move ahead 5-0. City council meeting next month.
Note: I'm certainly no expert when it comes to technicals...no formal training or anything...watched some Youtube videos :p

I really hope SWET is on top of this.
Chile has the world's largest reserves of lithium. Hopefully we can get a piece of that energy pie.
I'd invest in their lithium company SQM if I had the money. 7 Billion for the world's largest producer of lithium in the country with the largest lithium reserves!? Yes please!
Foreign investors to be sought for San Luis energy towers
http://www.yumasun.com/news/foreign-investors-to-be-sought-for-san-luis-energy-towers/article_f28e8a90-1f59-11e4-af52-0017a43b2370.html
I figure at 3$ they are worth the cost of the tower. And you'd think they would be worth more supposing it all works.
Now if it works, with their current model, if they were to have 100 towers scattered across the globe, I think these guys could end up being worth a lot (guesstimate: 20-100$).
With a big name partner early on they would hopefully be able to build a lot more towers that will be owned by SWET, and they would be able to get some of the revenues from independent towers and another portion from owned towers.
If all this works it's possible 20-25 years down the road there's 100 towers just in the middle east. With that long distance DC transmission I would bet the coastal desert areas will go nuts with this.
Note: I in no way really know what I'm talking about
It's been unusually quiet..I think (hope) something big is gonna happen.
Imo SWET is ripe for a big name partnership...they have perhaps the most important thing covered: a solid barrier to entry. Unlike other techs where there's a bunch of companies in the game and it's impossible to know who will end up being the winner, with SWET they are the only player, success or failure, it will belong entirely to them.
Volume really low...might this be a sign of liquidity drying up?
Mining Industry Plans Massive Use of Seawater in Arid Northern Chile
This article is really, really good news. Hopefully there is enough extra capacity in those pipes that SWET will be able to run as many towers as they need.

Chile Taps Solar Thermal Energy with Latin America’s First Plant
Some competitors of ours getting it on in Chile. Good news imo.
http://www.ipsnews.net/2014/08/chile-taps-solar-thermal-energy-with-latin-americas-first-plant/?
I really like this:
"Abengoa will receive direct subsidies from the Chilean government and the European Union, as well as financing from the Inter-American Development Bank, the German development bank KFW, the Clean Technology Fund and the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives."
Also, I'm going to guess that of the 43 projects they approved SWET is one of them. That means SWET would provide 450 of the 2261 MW, with just one tower!
Actually I saw that the document needs a signature, so I'd need to print it out and scan it...none of which I have atm and I don't feel like paying money for it, as little as it is, feels weird paying many shares worth of cash to do something I don't really need to know. I want to know, but it's not urgent. I'm already invested anyway, and I don't think anyone was able to logic bomb the whole idea. Not sure I'm comfortable either calling Ron for just that, it's pretty inconsequential right now.
But someone with a working printer and scanner should do it :)
No...the guy at first talked about writing a summary but didn't seem too keen on the idea...so when he started talking about audio I said thats all we need. His summary would have taken a week, the audio file we can get asap.
Ok, so I spoke to the appropriate person and this is how it goes:
They have audio available of the meeting, but someone needs to fill out this document:
http://www.cityofsanluis.org/DocumentCenter/View/84
I don't mind doing but I can't do it just this moment, I can get it done tonight (maybe)....but if anyone wants to have the audio as early as tomorrow though feel free to fill it in yourself.
Explain that you would like the audio file to be released publicly or have them send you the file by email. Hopefully everyone can access it but otherwise you might be stuck emailing everyone else the file.
You need to send the document to soniacornelio@cityofsanluis.org
If you need any extra info you can call 928-341-8563 and ask to speak to Roman.
Lets not bombard them with calls and requests, so if someone wants to do it let us know so we don't duplicate.
I can do that..I got free long distance....anyone with the number?
I wish we could get some info about last night's Public Meeting.
Chile gears up new water reservoirs
http://www.bnamericas.com/news/waterandwaste/chile-gears-up-new-water-reservoirs
Would be nice if our towers were set up to provide water to these reservoirs from the ocean.
Here's what logic dictates to me.
Assuming that the previous information about water consumption is correct, the town should definitely have the resources for 2 towers (the latest tv piece says the tower was going to use half as much water as the orchard before it).
I was kind of hoping they would build two towers in AZ but this is definitely the first specific mention I hear of it. My guess is that the crane they will build to construct the tower will be most efficient if it builds one tower at a time.
The city (and everyone else) will definitely want to see 1 tower before giving up the guaranteed water rights for a second tower.
Besides, indefinitely postponed usually means its postponed until the situation gets better, which is unknown if it will ever happen.
So I figure if the first tower works as planned, expect to see a 2nd tower go up..great news!
Public meeting is Tuesday for energy tower project in San Luis
http://www.yumasun.com/news/public-meeting-is-tuesday-for-energy-tower-project-in-san/article_538dc6b0-1b92-11e4-bfa5-001a4bcf6878.html
Seems there's some new info in this article.
"However, the city does not have necessary water to supply two towers, meaning planned construction of a second tower is on hold indefinitely, San Luis City Councilman Marco Pinzon said."
I wasn't sure either what Buying Notes necessarily meant...but I wondered...if there is a plan for a share buy back, perhaps that explains why they are not releasing any big info yet...perhaps they want to keep the price low in the short term.
4$ minimum if I'm not mistaken. See post 4731.

Yay, got my extra shares!
It's sure acting funny being stuck at 2.7..managed to sneak in at 2.6 hehe (actually had broker on the phone to move it up, luckily buy went through before I changed it)
Yeah that's the one we've seen.
Thanks though
Sharing is caring. Just post it. (Yes there was a link going around but obviously I don't know if its the same source.)
Your initial contention was that there was a problem with JDF you encountered that we'd all be able to see if only we researched them.
I know you know how to link, I saw it in one of your posts..yup, decided to research you a little too.
