Ontario ‘freezes’ Cannabis Store leasing ahead of possible shift, sources say

If this happens I think it will be a huge unexpected catalyst.

Canopy buying hiku confirms Mr somanydonuts theory if you ask me.. Doug Ford must be 2 or 3 weeks away from announcing his plans for hybrid privitization.
Hope they don't fuck it up. I was hoping the OCS would put the squeeze on wholesale and aphria would capitalise because no one else would keep up on slim margins..
Edit: Sorry MMPR didn't mean to respond to your post.
Is anyone planning on attending the AGM this year?
dutch government starts experiment with legal rec
https://www.ad.nl/politiek/nieuw-akkoord-over-staatswiet~a50cdf49/
English: The coalition government has reached an agreement about an experiment with legal 'state-weed', about 10 cities are going to sell it, while 6 to 10 other cities will be used as a control group. Coffeeshops in those 10 cities will be allowed to keep more than 500 grms as stock, with different strains. There will be no maximum THC levels.
It's interesting Aurora's is up to 25k
I don't see how they have the capacity to fill this in 6 months

Canopy already owns 10.65% of AusCann as they participated in a PP at the start of 2018. With this new raise, Canopy is expected to chip in 5mil out of a total of 30-38mil which would slightly increase their % holdings to about 11-12% according to Mr.Napkin.
Elaine Darby (AusCann) is sister of Stewart Washer (Zelda) - at first I was concerned about the Washer family connections, but if it makes sense to Bruce than it makes sense to me.
https://theconstantinvestor.com/elaine-darby-auscann/
AK: Is there a formal relationship between AusCann and Zelda pharmaceuticals, apart from the fact that Stewart Washer is your brother?
ED: Yes, apart from the family relationship. Yeah, look, we’re really excited to be involved with Zelda. Essentially we’re a supplier for Zelda for their clinical trials. As I mentioned, AusCann, we’re not a clinical trial company. We are really pushing where we know there is good clinical data here and now, and we are just getting that product to the patient.
What Zelda is doing is really quite novel, in that they’re targeting those new, emerging, exciting areas where medicinal cannabis could be of an enormous benefit. So, essentially we’re a supply to those guys. We can create those particular formulations that they’re after, because we know how to grow the right strains. We have access to the best strains in the world. We have a wonderful Spanish partner to help us do that, Phytoplant. We have the manufacturing expertise. So, any kind of weird, wonderful formulation that those guys need for their trials, we will produce that for them and supply that to them.
AK: And there is no sort of significant cross-shareholding, is there?
ED: No, there is no crossover in shareholding…
AK: And the Washer family doesn’t seem to own a large stake in either company. As you said, the Canopy Growth company is the largest holder of AusCann.
ED: Yeah. So, Canopy is our biggest shareholder. We … certainly, my brother has the involvement with Zelda therapeutics. I’m not sure if he’s shareholding over there. Certainly, my father, who is the chairman of AusCann, Dr. Mal Washer, and AusCann was really his vision and why the whole company was created, you know, because it’s a medical background that he has. He saw this need. I mean, he is also, you know, a fairly good shareholder. So, the Washer family has a very strong interest in these companies to do extremely well. We have that drive and that vision for us to achieve.
Has anyone looked into the connection between Zelda Therapeutics and Auscann?
https://medicalxpress.com/news/2018-04-world-first-cannabis-trial-insomnia.html
Looks like they are doing the same sleep aid clinical trials as us.
If it isn't true and they did just harvest I hope they go after that guy legally.
Could be. That's what I am hoping for! The plants were flown out there in Feb so theoretically its possible. I emailed IR, I'll post when I get a response.
Has anyone seen this? Hopefully it's not true.

German court decision should be out very soon
http://www.europeonline-magazine.eu/auftrag-fuer-cannabis-produktion-zu-medizinischen-zwecken-vor-gericht_640987.html
Düsseldorf (dpa) - The start of cannabis production for medical purposes in Germany planned for 2019 is in jeopardy. The presiding judge Heinz-Peter Dicks criticized in the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf on Wednesday that the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) had set the deadline for the cultivation and delivery of initially 6.6 tons of cannabis too short. "That deadline should have been extended," Dicks said. (Ref.: VII-Verg 40/17)
For the Federal Institute, attorney Heike Dahs contradicted this view. She also warned that a stop or a resumption of the award of the contract was "very bad for patient care". "Of course, it will not be possible to meet the 2019 deadline." This is when the first harvest is scheduled under state supervision.
A decision should be made on Wednesday. In total, the Higher Regional Court dealt with four complaints from different companies against different aspects of the award procedure.
Industry experts criticized that the planned quantity was much too small. There are already about 15,000 patients, and potentially up to 600,000 people could benefit from legal cannabis, said one observer who did not want to be named.
The active ingredient THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) from cannabis can not only relieve pain but also spasticity, for example in multiple sclerosis, and nausea after chemotherapy. It's also said to help with epilepsy.

Cultivation in Germany: Court date set - March 28th
The Public Procurement Board of the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, under the direction of the presiding judge Dicks at the Higher Regional Court, has set trial dates for the award of a contract for the cultivation, further processing, storage, packaging and supply of cannabis for medical purposes in four review proceedings. The events at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, Cecilienallee 3, 40474 Düsseldorf, take place on
***Wednesday, 28.03.2018, from 10.15 a.m. in room BZ 5.***
The procurement senate is negotiating immediate complaints from four companies involved in the procedure to award the contract for the cultivation, processing, storage, packaging and supply of cannabis for medical purposes in a secured in-house plantation in Germany for the delivery period 2019 to 2022. The Federal Republic of Germany is represented by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices.
Cannabis, which is used in medicine especially for the treatment of pain patients, has not yet been legally cultivated in Germany. Accordingly, there is a lack of experience among German applicants. In this context, the applicant company criticises in Procedure VII-Verg 40/17 that a deadline was too short to be able to appoint a subcontractor with appropriate experience in the field, as requested. Procedure VII-Verg 42/17 disputes whether the company applying for the contract has submitted a declaration of commitment by a foreign company which meets the requirements and which proves access to its experience in cannabis cultivation.
With their appeals, the authors appeal against the respective decisions of the Federal Procurement Chamber (cf. on VII Verg 40/17 the decision of 01.08.2017, UK 1 - 69/17, on VII Verg 42/17 the decision of 09.08.2017, UK 1 - 77/17, on VII-Verg 52/17 the decision of 25.10.2017, UK 1 - 119/17 and on VII-Verg 54/17 the decision of 13.11.2017, 1 UK - 117/17). The awarding chamber had rejected the respective applications submitted in the review procedure.
