stockguy linked me to a really good web page about RSI. i just found it odd etrade would make their default setting 4 when the standard seems to be 14. i would figure etrade would not have error that far off. i guess they did. i like the 14, looking at the past peaks and valleys of pps, 14 seems to be a much better numer than 4.
thanks for the help.

Chart Experts... I have an honest question here. I am learning charting on my own and am trying to be able to predict market trends. Using the RSI, what is the standard period that is used? From what I read the standard is 14. My Etrade account uses 4. Why the difference and what effect will it cause?
MJNA at period 4 RSI = 66. Which is heading towards overbought.
MJNA at period 14 RSI = 53 Which is still very neutral.
im no fan of Obama. but signing a bill giving Pot regulation to the states would be leadership. at the end of the day, that bill would need his signature to become law.
there is no ETF for this sector. none of these stocks would qualify to be part of an ETF, which have restrictions on what type of stocks they can buy.
i want to start an ETF. Call it the sin etf. buy alcohol, weed, and casino stocks.
reasonable-
please keep posting the detailed charts with your explanations. i am learning charting and have learned from your charts what to look for. of course, charts are never 100% accurate.. things change..news good or bad.
But i want to start trading around a core position like alot of people here. the only indicator i am comfortable with right now is RSI. which is still in a good position.
Again, I for one appreciate the knowledge and reasoning you put into your charts, even if i hope your wrong alot of the time.

You could be right. I have no idea. But I do believe Holder will be asked tomorrow. What his response... that's anyone's guess. If he says nothing and avoids the questions, I would view it as a net positive for MJNA, but I dont feel the market as a whole will react to it... and a sideways day as you predict will occur.
If holder says he will sue the states, the whole sector will dip. even though MJNA is profitable, and not allowing recreational use would probably not change their projections, they will drop.
if holder says he will allow the states to work out their own framework and will essentially stay out of this state issue.. the whole sector will run. how far and how much, i wouldnt dare to guess, im always wrong on that.
that's just my take on it. by the way good call on the close today. 30 cents compares to .3008.. good call. that last trade made you today.
Chubbs-
Me too. this article has calmed me down some.
http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/286349-dem-ex-dea-chiefs-arrogant-to-press-for-pot-law-nullification
second to last paragraph reads
"Holder has met or talked with both governors and attorneys general from Colorado and Washington during the DOJ’s review process, posing a series of questions to the state leaders, such as how they plan to prevent marijuana produced in the state from being trafficked to other states where the drug is not legal."
To me, it's look like Holder wants to allow the laws to exist. he is just asking them to keep it in their state... which is a reasonable thing for him to want.
my honest guess on this would be holder loosens the laws somewhat. holder saying they are working on a framework, tells me he is changing something. the current framework doesnt allow recreational weed or even medicinal weed. working on that framework could only mean good things for MJNA.
yea if feds sue, i think there will be a sell off. i dont fully understand it, i guess the hype factor would get put on delay for awhile.
but MJNA is doing fine right now without the recreational use. holder wont be ending medical marijuana. he may end recreational use. either way, regardless of what Holder does, i still see MJNA being a leader in the field and staying very profitable.
because the market is closed
pushingpennies you have been asked for a link, and you just make a new post repeating yourself again. do you have a link to back up what you are saying.. or are you just making things up?
Reasonable-
I am still learning charts and technical strategies. Please correct me where i am wrong here. Did we not test a .30 resistance level today and bounce back? Also the RSI is still around 50 which is not bad. If a test of .25-.26 is coming, wouldnt make sense to exit shares now and buy back at a 20% less amount?
New seeking alpha piece... not all bad

i hope this wasnt the big news dixie elixirs was promoting on their page. if it is.... what a major letdown.
I wen to dixie elixirs and tried to order the lemonade. but i dont live in Colorado or have a medical marijuana license. i live in florida, where unfortunately, the state hasnt come around yet. Sadness, i really want to try their products.
$MJNA all the way. Sorry guys, Im jumping out in the 20s. Once that second comma hits my brokerage account, I will be renouncing my citizenship and living like a king on some small island in the caribbean sea.
Drinking margaritas.. banging senoritas. you can see me on my boat..named $MJNA
thank you seeking alpha for allowing me to buy more shares on the cheap. mjna is going through the roof. real growth, real products...financials verified by a CPA. bash alll you want, the facts always win in the long term.
MJNA long and strong. wont sell till i have two commas in my brokerage account.
Im not a lawyer. I have no idea if what SA did can be prosecuted or not. but i would like to see this company sue them and the author. possible sykes too. you have to prove a damage to win a lawsuit, and if this price shoots to a dollar or higher in the next year, no damage was done.
but i would like to see the lawsuit filed, maybe drop it a few months from now, before trial. the news that MJNA is suing will make them look more legit and help ease the fear and panic that set in last week.
MJNA long here. Cant wait for Tuesday to see what they are releasing.
thank you so much penny. i am glad i held strong to my position today, it was hard. i really hope they make an example out of this blatant libel and stock manipulation attempt.
So it is confirmed? Great. Im kinda a newbie on these boards, not sure who Stuart is. But if this has been confirmed, this is awesome, I am happy and feel better.
Go MJNA. I have liquidated a mutual fund... i will buy in more Monday.
MJNA long here. I read the post by MSides... is this her? I am skeptical of this. I do hope it is her, it seems legit and well written, I just find it hard to believe, that's all.
got in at .0627 a few weeks back. have an order in for tomorrow..limit at .095. let's just hope this is the year. only been in the company a few weeks... feel bad for the people who have been in for years. hopefully, the time for takeoff is now.
