risk on - consider the meaning $8.10
Consider the meaning of $7.70
The class action suits are normal for any stock suffering big stock drops and having been preceded by a public offering that had many reassuring statements in it. They are insured against these losses if they occur from the law suits.
ARIAD HAS NEVER BEEN MORE LIKELY TO BE BOUGHT OUT THAN RIGHT NOW.
They are insured against this type of loss.
Are you an attorney? You are wrong.
I have no idea what you are talking about
ARIAD trading halted
There are very few reasonable explanations for the large move on huge volume. The only one that makes any sense to me is that Ariad will get bought in the not too distant future.
The question that remains is who is the buyer and at what price.
Quoting rubbish doesn't make it more palatable.
DEW
After complaining loudly about being criticized for your blind conspiracy theory attitude you have the hubris to ridicule Dew who is vastly more knowledgeable then you about every aspect of biotech investing.
You still haven't given up on pumping conspiracy theories to the detriment of this ihub blog.
The problem with Ariad is within Ariad and there a gifted people working to solve those problems.
I hope you right.
Cynically speaking (and thinking), won't the IND process result in increased procedures, testing and office visits for the docs employing the process and so provide an incentive to utilize it?
I suspect that the risk/reward for GIST doesn't favor continuation of this program anymore. The limited resources that they have will probably have to be spent on more certain outcomes like '113 and the new molecule. The GIST program can just be shelved.
As always, your thoughts, analysis and conclusions are most welcome.
There is no logic there. It's just blame some boggey man like hedge funds, shorts, market makers, FDA, SEC, USSR, PGA, NAACP etc
You seem to have little interest in the actual historical facts.
Sure he has. HB just sits around and watches OMED like a hawk.
Testimonials from either docs or patients are meaningless at this point. Letters from shareholders are even more so. Only revised positions by the FDA will have any real impact.
Maligning the FDA and the SEC is just stupid. They may not always be right but, on the other hand, they are neither crazy nor malevolent.
So if Jellybean dismisses it, well just consider the letter ....
You don't get it. You posted it as if it were a fact.
You are writing statements as fact for which you have no basis.
More BS won't help you.
Please give the source of this statement.
oc631 Do you have any thoughts on the merits of these cross filed patent litigation claims?
From the pps today, my guess is that the FDA is about to make some constructive comments about Iclusig soon.
Andy, the EMA is just different from the FDA. For example, Cerus has been unable to get their blood cleaning Intercept system approved by the FDA even years after it has been working well in the EU and the rest of the world.
I'm leaning more towards a jump of 10 to 11 cents
From the way the pps is acting this morning, I would guess that we are hearing early news about the decision
pigger, I agree with your take.
The selling is just the same ole short the news that Ariad always gets.
mejs, Perhaps you may not know the difference between incendiary opinions and "facts".
So, I guess your reply to jq1234 is 'I will write as much stupid stuff as I like and no one can stop me.'
Amazing discrepancy!
"personal animus" ??
Ariad just announced a reduction in its work force as part of a broad program to reduce operating expenses. Reuters
the saud - I think HB and company have so much on their hands right now pr is the last thing on their mind. They are in survival mode and the only question is what will survival look like.
The next cc might give some direction and any reasons for optimism. But for it to do any good for the pps, it will have to be near term and concrete. I expect the situation to remain ambiguous for some time as the damage is slowly shored up. We might get an earlier look at the pipeline which would provide some longer term confidence.
mejs - you do not know what the MARKET is then. Trading back and forth IS the market and always has been. That kind of trading establishes price levels and reduces spreads and makes the market able to handle large blocks of shares. It makes the more market more efficient. Pricing depends on it. Without this kind of trading, the pps might be less than it is now.
REAL news will move the pps. No one is being shut out of anything. HFT doesn't destabilize the market it adds liquidity. IF there is a demand for shares based on an improved out look, the market will reflect that sooner or later. To paraphrase Buffett - in the short run the market is a voting machine; in the long run the market is a valuing machine. Well the market has voted and continues to vote NO on Ariad because of the serious negative surprises. If the outlook changes so will the pps.
The trading is not so bizarre at all.
The trading in the days before was due to some selling based on some knowledge of what was going on. No knowledge about the critical information is hermetically sealed when there is so much money on the table. There had been calls for selling the stock and shorting it before the drops. Some people had more belief in the short side than the posters on this board.
The trading with a downward bias since then is to be expected. With so much stock suddenly cut loose from institutions and individuals, it became fluidly tradeable by any computer program or groups of day traders. Huge volumes with great movement either up or down is all they need. So with the market awash with tons of stock that can't find a home you get this kind of action. It is just the market settling out. There is no conspiracy so complaining about it is just silly. Is it possible that NVS has done whatever they could to make matters worse for Ariad? Sure, but that's just business and NVS plays hardball.
2da - I think you are approaching this from a less effective point of view. A civil suit against the FDA will be difficult if not impossible to launch.
If someone actually has the goods on the FDA for having acted with malice or for some other destructive interest, then I suggest that this becomes a Justice Department matter. IF that is the case then there has to be some real evidence or a persuasive informant.
If there is no "there" there, then any legal action will be just a waste of time and money that has been pursued in attempt to recover emotionally from these sudden and costly disappointments.
Zipping right along. Amen
Why more than $3? The company is worth at least twice that number.
