FatCat - The jar in the center of the front table that contained silk worms was a great idea (IMO). I thought that was a good touch to catch folks attention. Also, I like the fact that the banner had the words "SpiderSilk" and not just "MonsterSilk", since the later might not catch the eye, but the former is self-explanatory. From my observations, Kim had a good command of the conversations once he was engaged by interested parties.
For Bull - regarding your point on.....oh, nevermind, I'm not getting sucked into your dialogue.
Actually, Kim fixed that while I was talking with Ben. The pictures fell and he did some quick repair work with the tape. A guy came by with some velcro and the "temp tape job" was removed. Sorry - don't have a picture to prove it to you if that is what you require.
Do what you will with the pictures, as I now consider them part of the public domain. In hindsight, I should have paid more attention to picture taking rather than just taking a quick snapshot as I had done. The pictures were just to show..."look, we have a booth, and there is Kim talking up his product"
a few pictures from Techtextil in Atlanta
I should have positioned myself for better pictures, but I never claimed to be a photographer.
Corner booth was nice - more foot traffic and it allowed a bit more elbow room when alot of people were standing around. Some of the other booths seemed very confining.
Not the best shot since I took it at an angle, but one of those critters was the one I was holding (heavy little guy).
Soft silk. Cacoon didn't even feel like I had anything in my hand since it was about as light as air. I didn't realize that the cacoon was so "hard" to the touch. Seemed almost like a little plastic ball with a bunch of fibers sticking out. Kim explained that it was due to the "glue" (can't recall his exact terminology), but more or less used to protect the worm while in the cacoon.
Ok, what is the trick in posting images to this board? I see it wants me to copy the URL, but obviously a JPEG on my local drive isn't a URL. Any ideas?
Rayovac - responses
"I think those peeps on the PDA's were online broker apps"
Perhaps, but they sure seemed excited if you glanced at their booth when they thought they might have an interested party on the line. From what I observed, Kim didn't have time to even check one email.
"Intrigued by the jelly-fish DNA mention.... did Kim or Ben explain that at all? "
Kim. I can't recall specifics, but it had something to do with color.
"If you want to go back for that silkworm on the hand pic, then I am good for the $50. "
I could kick myself for not having that souvenier, but I don't have time to go back.
"Did they have KBLB's ticker symbol prevalent or available? "
Now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing the ticker symbol displayed. It may have been on the various pamphlets that were available.
"I wonder if Kim and Ben will have all their meals paid in full."
I am fine with that if they are going to spend time in putting themselves and the company in the public eye, as a matter of fact, I would expect it on a business trip such as this. However, it didn't appear that the expense was too great, as it looked like Kim had some apricots or dried fruit - probably not much time to leave the booth
my blackberry is not the best camera (all I had with me today). Only took a few pictures, but nothing I would say are keepers for the iBoard. I'll post shortly.
Diva - no spun fabric. I suppose I could have asked Kim if he would have let me borrow one of the spools for about 30 minutes and I could have come back with a swath of material - there was an abundance of manufacturing equipment (in working order) on the floor.
I can give you that answer, but would prefer not to so the "nay-sayers" don't simply disect it and twist it into whatever response suits their needs. IMO - bull doesn't sound she cares anyway, so why provide. I'll bet if I said I witnessed someone signing a LOI, she would find a way to twist that into a negative as well.
I can't send Private messages, so we'll figure out a different way. I have Zinc's email, and I think I have FirstMike's, but not yours.
Well, that was worth the $50, especailly for the fact that I have personally held cacoons, touched the actual silk on the spool, and best of all, I held one of the Monster Worms. The little critter went about his business exploring my hand. Was surprised at how heavy the Monster Silk Worm was (sorry, I can't recall the exact percentage, but Kim told me that this was due to the high composition of silk or silk-generating compounds or something to that effect - sounded a lot better coming out of his mouth).
I announced myself honestly as a shareholder, not a potential customer or partner, and informed he and Ben of who I was on the message board (not that I post much anyhow). I told Kim that I didn't need all the background on Piggy-Back, Zinc Finger Technology, etc, as I was already somewhat informed on those topics. However, Kim did still take the time to provide a short overview, and tell me a bit about the worm I had crawling around my hand (how did I miss the Jelly-fish DNA part - didn't recall reading that from Zinc or anyone else, but interesting nevertheless).
Didn't have much time to spend with Kim, mostly because it was too busy with interested folks waiting to talk to Kim. It was an endless stream of folks at the table the entire time I was there. Not so much for some of Kim's neighbors - some of them looked bored and spent their time typing away on PDA's. The military booth directly across from Kim had quite a bit of traffic as well. I did have a good conversation with Ben, and spent more time with him as I watched folks coming up to the table. I tried to listen to some of the questions from other interested parties, but it was too noisy to hear. One guy was asking about unique fiber specifications that he was interested in and the conversation ensued around designing to those needs.
Gotta get to a 3pm meeting. I left the booth at the time a hoard of Oriental suits all came up to the booth and began asking questions. Would have like to try to listen in on that, but had to get back to the office.
I have a few pictures - will need to email those to myself and post later. (Mad that I didn't check my pictures before I left, I took a picture of the worm in my hand, but snapped a great shot of my sleeve instead - grrrr)
No need for reimbursement, but thanks for the offer anyhow. If I go, it will be to satisfy my own curiosity. 700 shares would make no difference in my overall sharecount - I was just kidding around with that comment.
It is on my calendar as it stands now, but no promises. I'll see how the day goes, and if time allows, I'll jump over to CNN for a quick bite to eat, then hit WCC to walk around the exhibit floor.
- or -
I could just get another 700+ shares for the $50 and call it a day.
No chance - I'm one of the many who only come to Atlanta due to work and stay in the "burbs" when away from the office. Always pass on Braves, Hawks, etc. tickets because I am not interested in journeying back down here. 50/50 that I will go tomorrow to the show.
King - $25 if you registered by April 20th. It is $50 now, or you can pay $50 at the door to get a day pass. I'm a lot less than 4 hours, as a matter of fact I am looking at the WCC out my office windown as we speak. Still tempted to stop by the booth and see who is sitting the in the chair, as well as to see what types of presentation materials or informational materials are available. Figured that I may go to the military booth near there and ask if they heard of Kraig.
YankeeC - I would like to, but my schedule is normally packed every day of the week, in addition, it is $50 to attend. Haven't decided if $50 is worth curtailing my curiousity. I do walk over to the CNN Center once every 1 to 2 weeks, and may just jump across the street to the WCC to check it out - we'll see as I do have a gap in my calendar from 11:30 until 2:00pm tomorrow. It would be worth the $50 if I could get my own sample strand of spider silk.
Yes, right next to the "non-wovens" booth. A lot of interesting presentations on Tuesday/Wednesday regarding textiles, fabrics, weeving techniques, etc.
Spiderp - Techtextil North America

This show is actually right across the park (Centential Park - in Atlanta) from my office. Would love to drop by, but not sure that is in the cards (plus, I would need to register as well)
Natty - that had to be a "MM". No way a retail buyer invested $1.50 for 600 shares when it cost them $7.95, $9.99 (or whatever based on their brokerage - TDA, ING, Fidelity, etc.).
Let's hope nothing falls through with the JV and that TXMC is still included in that $36M facility that is planned. If that can be confirmed, then we can at least tie directly to an actual timeline (i.e. ground breaking on Oct. 1st). Puts everything out 6 or 9 months beyond that date, but it puts more structure to the future.
Thanks Mike. Yes, much more detailed.
10K is out.

Believe me - I would like to see something positive as well. Sometimes a desire for something positive can shade the truth, but it doesn't hurt to look. As an example, posts in the past 6 months from SpaceMan and Yuna have brought details I likely would not have seen (Tire Shredders Unlimited). Others have done the same, but none have translated to verifiable evidence of forward momentum. Been around long enough to know that if I had daily expectations, it would be rough going as nothing has come to fruition in years.
Nope - only 1 out of a total 3028 funds own this stock according to the website, and that is Meeder with their $75.00. It would have been interesting if we had a $30k buy just recently, but this meager holding is from some time prior to Q1 2011.
Speera - I don't follow your point.
So an asset mgmt. fund owns $75.00 worth of Tirex stock. This is .00000004% of their holdings. What relevance does this have IYO? It doesn't appear to be new holdings since nothing was added since sometime prior to the quarter ending December 2011. If this is a left-over holding from some time ago, I still don't see any positive aspects coming out of a minimal holdings amount.
Wouldn't work in the increments provided unless the "ask's" were set at the same low volume and at those same increments. There usually is the "5000" share ask sitting there, which is actually an unknow total share count being that the MM has the real total hidden from L2 view. So, to increment up, you have to be able to wipe out the current ask so that buyers (if willing) could hit the next asking price.
Did it a couple weeks ago, but not me this time!!!
Premarket? What the... > so now Premarket trades are occuring after months and months of after-market trades and speculation on what these are?
IMO - interest waning, but how does that differ from any other penny / sub-penny stock when news is slim. Been in the stock for 3 years (not 10 and 12 like some on the board), but enough time to put me in the "long" category.
Apparently, interest is waning. C’mon JT – anything to say to perk up interest? Why the new building/office? What are you doing with those authorized shares? Any progress/plans on audited financials? What’s up with the recent JV discussions? What about status on Tire Shredders Unlimited? Need some fertilizer to plump up all those carrots.
Nope. It always appears to be 3% to 6% below the closing price (with only a couple exceptions), at an average between 75K and 150K shares. This has been occuring every day, with the exception of a few select days, for many months. At this point, I can't even recall how long it has been happening , not to mention all the board opinions on what is causing this to occur.
Oh well, it is "beer-thirty" now, so time to start the weekend and not dwell on it. I'll just wait until Monday to see the next installment of after-hours trades.
Ok, now it feels real. Can't quite zoom in enough on google maps to see JT looking out the window giving us a friendly wave, but good enough for me. Appears to be a large shared space - there appears to be 18 or 20 businesses in that building, but JT can kick them out and assume their space as Tirex grows.
Definately a step up from the PO box at the local UPS store. Positive IMO.
If someone would buy 1 of the 5 shares on the ask under MM = VFIN (currently sitting at $2000.01), we could be Billionaires if only for a brief instant. Joking aside, I don't even know how that bid can even exist.
yep - the 7.8M still on the bid at .0038, but if we look up from the floor...5M on the ask at .0046, so that is a temporary cieling as well.
Agreed. At a minimum, the .0038 bid has enough shares to set the floor pretty solidly if any fallback was to occur.
Doubt those 8mil shares will chase. Sat solid at .0038 all day Friday as well with no chase. Chase or not, we need news to sustain and move towards penny land.
Yes, but just checking in. Looks like the $30k ask is back out there again today. It got several takers last week in avg. 500k blocks, but doesn't look like anybody is selling so far today. Volume is 'nil' today anyway.
Let's just worry about having our first system in production before worrying about the exchange.
well, what's another 20k shares amidst millions
3:58pm "Paint it up" for the weekend
