Great post!!!!
It is like listening for clues. If you remember when you were a small child in the back seat of your parents car and not quite capable of seeing over the front seat as to exactly where the driver is taking us....but we still get excited if we think we like where we are going.
This thing is getting like that "box of chocolates" comparison that Forrest referred to.

All good points. This is one discovery(s) that only time will unveil its true potential. I look at the possible replacement for Kevlar in the battlefield and body protection for our law enforcement and think that this might have some national security issues that would have folks like DuPont become very, very interested.
M-37 Dodge
I have stated this before but.....the ownership/control of the "patent" is key. Here is my own opinion:
If the interested party is a MEGA market player like DuPont, Dow, Smith Cline or TBA they will want that total control. If it is a small market player for a portion of the market then trademarks and other ancillary stuff is more important since they probably do not have the rescources to really develop the unlimited markets that can come from this discovery.
My money and guess that it will be a "BIG PLAYER" that we will hear from....eventually. Just a guess???

Good idea. If you can also open a ROTH IRA. I have moved a few securities from my Traditional IRA to a Roth last year at what I believe is a very low price and establish a low tax base. After 5 years, with appreciation like KBLB, whatever gain after that is not subject to tax. This year you have to pay the tax for this year using the transferred amount as ordinary income.
I am not a licensed securities broker and you must always verify what limited advice you are getting with a qualified professional and your CPA.

Just wondering if the disaster in Japan could delay any potential partnership deals????
M-37 Dodge
I agree. DuPont has more than just a casual interest in KBLB. Sometimes large corporations like this and Gillette buy a company and its patents to just remove the competition or control the development cycle. Although ND owns the patent, KBLB owns the rights to market the discovery.
This goes back many years but remember the development of the transitors to replace tubes for the TV? There were too many tubes in the inventory to immediately introduce transistors into TV's at that time. The next best thing was to ease in the new technology so the distribution system was not holding the bag with alot of tubes.
I still say that the ownership of the patent is the key.

My feed back was just sent to the NY Times. Thanks for the recommendation.

You are correct! Ihub must be selling our information. I am getting all kinds of stock related solicitations from individuals masking for someone like Ihub. This just started a couple of weeks ago. You have to block each one.

This is purely a guess on my part but......If you consider that there is one item that needs to fall into place, my guess is the patent??
Think about it...big meeting in January that included the University? The patent is "golden".
M-37 Dodge
Good observation. I have stated in previous blogs my reservations concerning our government's placing a secrecy cover over this company's discovery. This could all be done under "national security" until they decide what can be released. That would not exclude DePont or some other close corporation to our government from developing this discovery. This has just been so quite for so long it is anyones guess as to what is up?
M-37 Dodge
I agree. Although none of us know specifics, you can speculate that with past contacts from advisors and scientists involved with KBLB it would seem to be the best fit.
I continue to wonder what happened with the "Big" meeting in January with ND, KBLB and ??? that a potential buyer was not present.
My firm belief is that the patent ownership is still the key to a company like DuPont. Patents do not have an unlimited life and need changes in what is being protected to extend that life.
M-37 Dodge
Would not be necessary for each generation to have a separate facility but.....for secrecy, backup and reduntancy it could be considered. That is why once this is independantly validated and "published" a Nobel is on its way and the DuPonts of the world will take a run at the whole thing. There is a lot of corporate cash just waiting to be used for the right discovery.
Just a hunch???

Two unanswered questions that keep running around in my mind are:
1: With Gen #2 and the impact it will have on Kevlar, can our government afford to let this dicovery go to China?
2: Can DuPont really let this discovery slip through its fingers and buy out a company like KBLB without owning and controlling the patent?

Sounds good to me. To refresh the site for potential new comers is good for all of us.

Probably the same spam e-mail. It caught my eye because of the ratio of the split and their reason given. My thought was that there could be someting here and my new average cost per share after the split was around .025 at that time.
As the old farmer would say, "you can't plant the seed today and harvest tomorrow because it just does not work that way".

I agree! My daughter bought this at around .13 and was getting concerned when the price was going down. I told her that at her age, late 20s, this was a stock to look at in a year unless there is a buyout by a large corporation.
There are many complexities here and I believe that one of those reasons could be the ownership of the patent. A large company like DuPont would want the control of the patent and the ability to modify it to extend protection of their inventions. These are ticklish matters in negotiation and before someone places "big money" on the table you need these assurances. Although ND wants to hold on to this intellectual property, that does not mean that a negotiated "deal" is not attainable.
You must trust your original judgement and DD done at the time of your decision or will likely fall into the same habits of the flippers and short holders.
M-37 Dodge
I bought before the split and the reason given by Kim at that time was to "broaden the base" for more investors to be involved with this stock. My belief with this stock is that things just don't happen to create motion but it is devised for a specific reason.
M-37 Dodge
The more I read and understand this discovery KBLB might need to run a different course. I am now thinking that to keep a lid and security on this unique process the path may not go the route of validation through independant testing.
This would better lend itself to a total buyout by someone like DuPont. The only hitch here would be ownership of the patent?
This is almost like your first time ride on space mountain at Disneyland. It is fast with alot of light distactions and almost totally in the dark.
DuPont is so large a company that they can develop and protect this discovery and spin off the parts they do not want to handle.
This is definitely an "E" ticket ride!
M-37 Dodge
There is a lot of skepticism here and some of this is understandable. I have owned this stock almost 2 years and this might be something to ponder. Maybe the reason we have not heard an announcement for a specific advisor on Gen#2 is that our new advisors for Gen#1 are working with a potential buyer with foresight to take a run at all three Generations knowing what the potential could be. Also lab testing and validation could be adding to the timeline.
Remember, that if this was a scam I seriously doubt that Notre Dame would want to be embarrassed with the announcement last year.
Good idea!!! How about pulling a 16 wheeler with dental floss made with Monster Silk?
I saw a California car chase today and it took almost an hour of air time to get these two women stopped.
Our new spider products could be ejected from a Chopper over the car and immobilize immediately.
Bat Man stuff!

Good points Retro. The early withdrawel within the 5 year period is 10% plus your tax bracket if I understand this correctly.

Way to go A-10!!!! You are all the best.

You do pay the tax today at the level the stock is at at the time of transfer from your Traditional IRA to the ROTH IRA. The transfer is from funds that were pre-tax so that is why it is taxable today. There is an annual income limitation so check with your CPA or advisor as to what specifically you can do. Funds you have been putting into the ROTH account have in most cases already been taxed and are not subject to additional taxes at this time.
KBLB is so low a stock price today with a very bright future, it just makes sence to move some of the shares over to a ROTH account before 12-31-10 when this option expires.
M-37 Dodge
FYI...If this goes "big" down the road and you have this in your traditional IRA you can move this over to a Roth plan take the tax consequences this year and in 5 years be tax free. Just think you could pay taxes on what its current value is and after 5 years.....maybe $10.00+++ a share have no tax liability on the gain. It is my understanding that you can do this option up to December 31st 2010.
Sounds like a plan to me. I am with TDA and it was easy to set up. I can also keep my traditional plan and move what I want over to the new Roth.
M-37 Dodge
Caught the end of the show when they were testing the rope. Boy how this new super spider silk would put this to shame.
I am now thinking that licensing of this discovery to a Kevlar competitor might break the field wide open.
KBLB needs an aggressive development to market partner and if such a relationship is successful the sky is truly the limit.
M37 Dodge
A couple of thoughts:
A 200,000++++ mile tire?
A clause in each license that requires active production of product/products from this discovery.
I just remember when TV's were using tubes and the technology changed almost immediately but was so delayed to the market due to the tube inventory that had to be worked through first.
Although ND owns the patent, some large corporations like Gillet bought patents to keep some ideas from coming to market due to the impact to its own market.
There actually have been businesses that have gone out of business because their product never wore out.
In a disposable society this could become a challenge for something so revolutionary? It does change the game...a lot!
I am long on KBLB and look forward to the future.

King "B" What a fabulous post and great idea. You have to pretty thick in the head not to realize this discovery. This could be a Nobel kind of discovery a few years from now.

Volume & price are getting as exciting as much as kissing your sister.

Most of us enjoy your contributions and look forward to your active participation. There is alot of potential with this new discovery and the more participation and sharing the good news can only help.

Key might be Dr Jarvis and who he has worked for in the past. See Kraig site for resume. You have to believe he still keeps in contact with former work buddies. Dr's Lewis and Fraser I am sure have their connetions too.
Exciting!

Question: When was the last time Notre Dame held such a press conference on any research discovery and does anyone know the outcome, if it was a marketable security?
M37 Dodge
RockStizzle,
You will find an article on the Notre Dame web page if you go into search and type spider silk technology. The first article is about Dr. M. Fraser's research.

Question: Could the government step in an put this under "national security" with the possible military application? (ie: stealth coating)

It seems like the announcement to make the announcement is like taking the time to make the donuts? I wonder if this could also be a joint announcement that includes discovery and merger with maybe a Dupont or even a someone outside the U.S.?
