Intel was rated Buy at Jefferies.
This top chip company has been in the doghouse this year but is still a Franchise Pick at Jefferies. Intel Corp. (NASDAQ: INTC) is one of the companies that is regarded as having among the highest shareholders cash returns at approximately 8%, but has lagged high growth specialty chip stocks. The iconic chip giant had a stellar 2014 on the tailwind from continued PC and notebook sales, but this year has been a far different story. Despite the positive second quarter earnings report, the stock is down a gigantic 18.4% year-to-date.
The Jefferies team notes that Intel’s pending acquisition of Altera would put it into the traditional fabless market of programmable logic devices, but ultimately by 2020 50% of Altera’s product line could be manufactured at Intel facilities. This acquisition expands the product offerings and helps move the company farther away from PC dependence.
Intel investors are paid an outstanding 3.31% dividend. The Jefferies price target for the stock is 36. The Thomson/First Call consensus target is posted at $33.87. Shares closed Monday at $28.91.

RE: It's not a matter of declaring dividends. If you hold the shares in your brokerage account they will be reported to the IRA. Like it or not.
You must “declare” the dividend to justify your request for a lower income tax. The IRS cheeks the report from the brokerage before accepting your request.
RE: When you reinvest your dividends into shares are you required to declare the dividend/income?
Yes. Federal Income tax on dividend is only 15%.
Re: So, when do you plan to spend your winnings?
I distribute the legally allowed amount to my direct family and charity.
What's left will be redistributed by the government.
RE: A dividends guy, huh?
YES
A dividend reinvesting guy.
RE: At what price will you sell?
I buy low and never sell.
I bought 17,348 shares of INTC for $499,652.09 ($28.799 per share)

Alibaba, Intel in new cloud alliance
Alibaba took another step Monday toward developing a global cloud business, with the announcement of a new global partnership that includes Silicon Valley’s premier chip-maker Intel and Redwood City data center builder Equinix.
The announcement was made in a press release by Aliyun, the Alibaba Group’s cloud-computing subsidiary. The announcement included statements from Intel and Equinix executives talking up the deal.
The Chinese e-commerce giant recently opened its first data center in Silicon valley.
But it can’t take on dominant players without some help, said Simon Hu, president of Aliyun.
Hu said Aliyun is linking up with Intel, Equinix and others in a Marketplace Alliance Program that will target regions and leverage local expertise to sell cloud services to businesses.
Intel will promote Aliyun and Intel technology “based on Intel architecture specifically tailored to the rapidly growing market of international public cloud consumers,” according to a statement by Intel’s Raejeanne Skillern, who is general manager of Intel’s cloud service provider business.
Equinix said the partnership will bring the company “one step closer” to a goal of enabling multinational customers to expand cloud-based applications across Asia.
Other partners include Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel); two Hong Kong IT companies; the French cloud company LINKBYNET, and Meraas Holdings of Dubai.
What do the partners get out of the deal? More business in China and Asia, according to the announcement.
