Is Dr. Kaplan still on the Board of Directors or not? The announcement of his joining is still on iHub but maybe that doesn't prove anything.
Or sheer terror...
Roslin has the cells now, I think.
I just contacted Roslin via their website, asking the questions i posted. Will let you know what they say.
ok Freshcoat. But my questions are serious: could one obtain embryonic stem cells if one needed them for a transplant? Would they work better than/as well as one's own banked adult stem cells? and would they remove the need for immune-suppressing drugs?
Maybe Roslin has the answers. I will ask them and report to the board.
Dumb reply Freshcoat! ATC intends to make embryonic stem cells available--like their off-the-shelf hemangioblasts for a one-size-fits-all blood replacement. Those cells are already available for research from the Scottish company Roslin Cells. "ACT and Roslin Cells Announce Collaboration for Storage and Distribution of Embryonic Stem Cells Using ACT's Blastomere Technology"
http://investorstemcell.com/forum/act-main-forum-general-topics-science-press-releases-media/3516.htm
I'm wondering if store-bought embryonic stem cells would work better on oneself than one's own adult stem cells. (and perhaps no need for anti-rejection drugs)? If so, no need to go through the process of banking one's own stem cells (as some of my friends are doing).
Regarding Spiderman, etc: Maybe they don't go for what you present but it triggers some other idea. In this case, the main info that's being funneled to Kim is that a new Spiderman movie is coming out July 3rd and it might be advantageous for him to issue some kind of news that ties in with this.
Furthermore, i think management is aware that Zinc is a very knowledgeable investor and they may be inclined to pay attention to what he says and at least give some thought as to how they might use the excitement over the Spiderman movie to create more awareness of what KBLB is up to.
There's nothing wrong with offering marketing ideas to Kim (or to management of any company) no matter how much confidence you have in management, imo.
New Spiderman movie to be released July 3rd. Someone on the board suggested writing Kim that it would be good to have news around time. I took him up on it. My message to Kim (and I know it was read):
Subject heading: New Spiderman movie launching July 3rd!
Message: Hi Kim, Sure would be nice to see some kind of news around that time….maybe a tie-in (no pun intended) to movie!
~~~(longterm KBLB investor)
We know it will be something good because otherwise he would not be presenting!
I'm a longterm investor with a boat load of shares underwater, but still I don't think we are in any danger because of the blood cell enterprise and all the patents. Even if the injections to cure blindness didn't work, and even if ACT couldn't make it on their own, Big Pharma would buy it for the hemangioblast program.
KING BOLABA, What do you think the Sangamo article implies for KBLB?
ACT was at the Annual World Stem Cell Summit last year, so seems more than likely that they will be there again this year.
Natcore's room-temperature process obviously saves costs on fuel and probably on specialized equipment that would be needed for the high-temperature process. We need more info about the other process to compare costs. imo.
Is there anything that we, as Investors, can do to get the company to improve its business strategies?
From speaking to the global department at Schwab, I learned that ntcxf is NOT a pink sheet stock. "NTCXF" is just the usa symbol.
They route the order to Canada if that gives a better price. Maybe different with other brokers.
Glad you are clear about Lanza's brilliance! as to the dreadful share price, of course i agree that it is hideous but i don't think that means the company lacks talent. Seems to me it's due to still unfinished business stemming from past toxic financing arrangements coupled with rampant naked shorting and manipulation. That's a big reason why Gary wants to get us out of the pinks! We will get there, i am confident!
Thank you. Do you own NXT.CA or NTCXF? Either way, what is your reasoning? I own a number of USA pink sheet or OTC pennies and there is rampant manipulation and naked shorting in all of them. That's why i would like to get out of ntcxf and into NXT:CA.
Where do you see TSXV volume listed? On the list of companies on the TSXV today, I saw Natcore volume around 104,000.
On the Canadian TSXV exchange, much lower volume than on the American OTC. I wonder why. On Natcore's website they say they that one of the main reasons they chose to list on the TSX because it's regulated, unlike here. Here, every time it goes up, I'm expecting a crash from MM's typical naked shorting.
You gotta be kidding! Chief Scientific Officer Robert Lanza is one of the most talented, brilliant scientists on the planet--ever! And the scientists on Board of Directors are also tops. Where have you been? Check their credentials.
Letter i got from management (responding to mine) says they expect commercialization/revenue soon! See excerpt from letter, below:
Being a long time shareholder, you know that being a manufacturer has never been in our business model. We intend to insert our technology into existing and new cell fab lines. We believe that we are very close to commercialization, and therefore revenue, especially with the Black silicon we are working on. We should have more good news soon. We will keep you informed.
LETTER FROM MANAGEMENT I RECEIVED JUST NOW:
Below is a link to more press coverage of Natcore. It is more about our advancement of the black silicon etching technology that we are developing with NREL. The significance of the story is in the fact that the web site, "Smart Planet" is owned by CBS/CNET, a prestigious and widely read news group. Also, the writer is a free lance reporter, Mark Halper, who has written for TIME, Fortune, Financial Times, the UK's Independent on Sunday, Forbes, New York Times, Wired, Variety and The Guardian. He is based in Bristol, U.K. and has asked us to keep him abreast of our progress for future stories.
As always, if you have any questions don‚t hesitate to contact us.
Farviewhill, regarding "Clearly, wrapped up in this question, is the overriding need to dramatically reduce the company's stock float": isn't that what an R/S would accomplish (among other things)?
I did post the last thing management sent me and this article i sent them wrt MIT's invention i think is quite relevant.
Timewaster, I sent management the MIT article. Thanks.
What, if anything, was said about the R/S? (Sorry i have not heard the conference).
Any guesses what led to the major jump in PPS?
Bob, I agree that KBLB is a great longterm investment, but the wonderful explanation was made by Zincfinger--i merely re-posted his post from the yahoo board. So the credit should go to Zinc--let's all thank him for his many great explanations!
Reply from management to my letter:
Thanks for your e-mail. It was good to hear from you.
Thanks again for your continued support of Natcore. Any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.
Great post from Zincfinger on yahoo board--"KBLB's very high base value":
KBLB owns IP rights in over 200 spider genes in the silk producing pathways and license agreements with ND, UW and SIAL.
All of these have very high value, proven and established by the PNAS study. It's been shown that zinc fingers work in the silkworm. Zinc fingers can remove genes, add genes and (as shown by yesterday's SIAL news) can add genes and/or regulate genes to be expressed only in selected tissues.
Gene expression array chip technology is available: a gene array chip can be made of all of the genes expressed in the silk production pathways (by using expressed sequence tags). That makes it easy to determine what effects the addition or removal or regulation of genes is having.
Not only does that make it vastly simpler and more routine to adjust the qualities of the silk produced, it also makes identification of any problems thing might arise easy and routine: If a new GM causes problems use the gene expression array chip to see what new proteins are being expressed and what old ones are not - that identifies the source of the problem and adding, removing or changing the expression of genes to solve it is simple and routine using zinc fingers.
Many companies are spending huge amounts of money in a futile attempt to do mechanically what KBLB is on the verge of doing biologically, thanks to zinc fingers.
IF KBLB should run into extreme financial difficult any number of companies would be glad to either partner with or buy out KBLB. THAT gives a solid underlying value to the company that should provide excellent protection against failure.
This is an entirely new ball game: previously genetic modifications were very difficult to do, expensive, highly problematical of success and took a very long time. EVERYTHING about that has changed due to zinc fingers: genetic modifications are now routine and exact AND CAN BE EXPRESSED ONLY IN THE DESIRED TISSUE! (That is every bit as important and huge an advance and being able to insert sequence in exactly the location desired.) No more guessing and long desperate searches to find out what went wrong when something doesn't work as planned: just use the gene expression array chip: fast, inexpensive and routine.
There's still some uncertainty remaining (and always will be) but the overwhelming majority of the uncertainties have been removed:
1) how to get the sequence EXACTLY where you want it - use ZFs
2) how to get it expressed ONLY in the tissues you want it to be - use ZFs
3) how to know exactly what gene products are and are not being expressed (use the gene expression array chip)
That plus KBLB's IP rights (ESPECIALLY the exclusive use of SIALs zinc fingers in silkworms!) gives KBLB an overwhelming advantage in the development of spider silk.
It will take time (and none of us knows enough to know how much). BUt it WILL happen. Because the tools are there and the product is immensely valuable and sought after.
But the lower dose *has* indeed impacted/improved visual function. Don't you remember the extremely enthusiastic statements made by the AMD trial participants? One of them was at the conference, reported on by people on this board. She was ecstatic over the great improvement in her vision!
Thanks for Info. They are close to commercialization, I think, judging from a letter management wrote me in response to a question i sent them.
Hey RKT9, what is R2R? does that have to be developed for Natcore to succeed and PPS to rise enough to get us out of the pennies?
Govt loan? partner? how?
About this "dollar amount will remain the same": seems to me that depends on whether it is 50:1 or 80:1 and pps at the time.
I thought the minimum pps to get on NASDAQ is #$4.00 (not $5). Is that correct?
*Does* your dollar amount remain the same??? Even Gary talks about the loss of value to shareholders by a R/S (hopefully only temporarily--but how long is "temporary")?
People seem to assume R/S will be 80:1 but does it have to be that bad?
Gary's main purpose for R/S is to get us to the NASDAQ asap, and his main purpose for getting us to the NASDAQ is to get us away from all the f---ng naked shorting going on incessantly that can *not* be controlled where we are now, on the pinks.
Regarding patents: on another board (ELTP), someone claimed that a company could have patents worth $$$$$$$$$$ and still go bankrupt. They gave the example of Kodak with patents worth "billions" of dollars yet is filing for bankruptcy.
This doesn't make sense to me because if the patents really are worth billions, why wouldn't the company sell them to raise lots of money quickly rather than go out of business? I must be missing something here. Maybe filing for bankruptcy does not necessarily mean going out of business…(?)
