barry - I don't get it - that article is over a year old and terrorism is no longer a justification for another bailout - I say a shakeout will happen just as with Eastern, Pan Am, Braniff, etc in the past.
LL
American and/or united may be out of business within a year. JMO. BWTFDIK? LOL.
Acronym Guy
I guess the Board should be feeling pretty secure in their positions now, huh? One of the all time myopic undertakings.
has to be northwest, Delta, someone like that - hopefully one that is still flying next year - LOL
marc - I posted this on RB re that thought
OK, I'm going to take a shot at some sort of half-baked, half-formed idea. Bear with me. Movies, big names, content, copyright protection, etc., all are now comfortable with EDIG as a secure delivery device.
Does this portend that some big name music providers are going to also end up in a relationship with EDIG that allows us to deliver their content in a secure fashion?
I didn't say my vision is always coherent - I just think something along these lines makes sense.
LL
puma - I think there is a lot more that we don't see coming.
LL
tol - I agree and your post, although representing a glass half full approach, is not silly at all. Stop people on the street and ask them if they have heard of mp3, DivX, telematics, or any of the other stuff that is discussed on these boards all day and you will probably get a blank stare from the vast majority.
All of these markets are in their infancies. It is not do or die today as many of our "colleagues" here are prone to think - if EDIG continues to execute they will grow in synch with the public awareness and recognition of all these markets. We can very easily be just where we need to be when the time is right. The amounts of money being made today are miniscule in comparison with what may happen in the near future.

CDR - their feet are being held to the fire - if I were making the decision I would weigh heavily the fact the this strategy has been an abject failure something like 12 times out of 13.
Are they going for a short term liferaft or are they looking at the next 5-10 years? I say the former. Who knows?
LL
Duke - agreed - I couldn't find a metaphor weak enough - so I went with my ace. Just like Bobby.
In the long run that is about as effective as Tom Glavine in the post season on three days' rest. They must be really desperate.
LL
emit - all I can say is you are one very smart guy.
LL
Sent- thanks - I have adopted a cautionary outlook toward this particular product. LL
oh - OK - so U R saying anything with E-COM is EDIG. Hope that is correct- thanks - sorry I am such a techno-dweeb. (I am a dweeb in other areas too, but we won't go into that - !!)
LL
I would be interested in whether someone who is smart can definitively answer this question - It would not be me.
LL
rstring - wow!
tol - I think it is some sort of strained attempt at emphasis on the short - term memory commentary.
listen to court and spark a couple of times and then see if you are interested in talking about her short term memory.
JOBS _ Good luck to us all! I got out of WCOM about 29 or so after being in it for years. Consider myself lucky.
LL
jobs - I think I'm going to throw up - go to the WCOm board or somewhere.
marc - no offense - you can be scared if you wishe - don't tell the rest of us to be scared
fatcats - after what happened to seymour we should be careful with what we wish for
Sent - or bring the 1000 to market ASAP and yet have the video/downloadable version ready for CES? This would seem to comport with 2d hand atributions to RP of late.
LL
based on the fact that he has a big investment which is under water at the present time. (dont' we all?) Well put D.
Zeek - I believe he should state his opinion - at the SHM face to face with those he accuses of being do-nothings.
LL
JimC's message should be entitled - "How to send a message that you believe in JimC." The contents of the message he entitled "how to send a message that you believe in EDIG" would state "come to the SHM and discuss it face to face and man to man with the BOD."
gern - <Would like to know what company is behind this patent.>
That was my next question - the three applicants were from San Mateo or somewhere?
bosox - is that fortran or cobol? LOL
gern - OK - I give up - can you say in 10 or 20 sort of normal type words what this is about? LOL
Danl - hold out for two draft picks and a BOD member to be named later. LOL - nice post.
Cicero - I agree with you - JimC is an eloquent, intelligent and nice guy. I have greatly enjoyed his posts and my personal communications with him. Timing for this is not good.
I would have preferred for the issues he raises to be brought up at the SHM for discussion, with the understanding that he intended to pursue them at a future date if there were not some mutually agreed upon resolution. Throwing a bomb into the proceedings is not the optimal method for addressing these matters, even if there is merit in some of what he says.
LL
marc - this is NOT a tempest in a teapot - LOL
LL
D - a voice of reason - thank God.
tech w - "recovering attorney" if you don't mind
and one who is trying to look at the big picture
LL
The last thing this company needs at this critical point in its history is to have its attention and resources diverted from the task at hand. This is ill-advised and ill-timed. There is personal animosity involved. It is easy to rabble rouse with people who have been living on hopes and dreams for years only to see Napster and then the market conditions kill them over and over. Now that the light is shining at the end of the tunnel is not the time to create more problems. It is one thing for the company to be sidetracked by external forces, but to shoot ourselves in the foot is unforgivable. And to do so based on the rabble-rousing of someone who has a personal bone to pick with management is even less sensible.
I am truly taken aback at the short-sightedness of this "movement." The bashers will, deservedly, have a field day. Now EDIG will be spending their time creating a strategy over this proxy fight rather than creating strategies to make us money. Good grief. "Let's all get together and figure out how to MAKE SURE we don't make it through this critical juncture" - the plan of the EDIG shareholders.
I had hoped to vote my shares by proxy - not have to come to San Diego to engage in oratory. I don't know how many of you have been registered officers of publicly-traded companies (I have) but I can assure you that their task is not nearly as easy as some of those on this board would make it seem. Let's not derail this train when it is getting to the end of the tunnel.
LL
jeez - what a tempest in a teapot - we already had product there, now we have some more, we didn't make the timeline some of the shareholders wanted, we made one that is ok for other shareholders, some kids buy early , some buy later, some don't buy at all - does that cover everything?
In two years it won't matter.
LL
D - I think you have put it all in the proper perspective.
LL
geez - didn't any of you guys set aside beer money, LOL
oops -glass
marc - check your class, I think it must be leaking for it seems to be half-empty
