Ron, What I said was that I believe it would have been better if their pr would have read we're in merger talks. Maybe the company nwog initially wanted to buy and didn't consider a merger. Maybe alot of things. Maybe it was just a turn of events. What do I know?. Its a learning experience. Doesn't matter anymore. It was a Russian oil junior and now its a teenager. We got all these beautiful women on board to raise it. I have to believe that the president is smarter than me and see's a great future for this company. If I was as smart I would be sitting in his seat instead of mine. He had to know that this company at 2.17 was a steal. It would pay for itself in a couple of years.
wronjoe, I believe your right from other post I've been reading. I am evolving everyday and the more I give thought to this companies potential the picture is spectacular. This daytrading activity is everywhere. Let a company mention stock dividends to be paid out with a day of record and its off to the races for 2 or 3 days. The day after and its off to the races to the downside. We will all see this stock above the 5 dollar range and maybe the 10 dollar range within a year I bet. We've just shaken off the fleas.
Vic, it was wrong of them to make reference to a buyout. This slant should have never been attached to the pr. It was always a desired merger. It hurts them, it hurts the investor and it hurts the company. If they would have done this right I believed even today that this would have captured the interest of those looking longer term. The share price would be as high or higher today maybe. What this did was drive away alot of longs and created doubts that weren't initially there. Its all up to them now to make things right. What they don't want is alot of angry shareholders there is no benefit in this now or ever.
Ron, I was listening to a little of Cnbc. Ron Sentilli (spelling?) from the trading pits in Chicago. Touched on gold prices and its speculation. Having heard what he said and he didn't say there will be a sell off. It could run to a thousand who knows?. The dollar is at its 13 month low. He did say that when the buyers get tired of it they will move on to something else.
Their rouble must be stronger against the dollar as the euro is. Today if I had only 2 choices of owning a gold stock or and oil stock. It would have to be oil. Gold can back off considerably, oil on the other hand has alot of room to the upside. Countries world wide depend on it and its demand is increasing. Everything is selling today. We have stood up pretty well considering.
There really isn't a whole lot of difference between owning an oil stock here or in Russia. If the company is generating alot of revenue and the risk there is no greater than here, thats all that matters. If the company is supporting Russia's needs and is compliant with the government its as safe as a company here. There's been alot of changes in Russian but not enough.
Putin will not do again to a publicly trading company as he did to Yukos, as long as the company is doing what it has agreed to do according to their regulations. Putin does not want western investors to stop investing in Russia, quite the contrary. Russia needs investment dollars coming in not going out. It would have a negative impact on Russia's overall economy.
This was a political thing and saw Yukos founder as a threat to him and his politcal agenda. He saw Mikhail using his great wealth and influence to make change in their political structure. Kinda like fighting city hall here with much graver consequences if you lose. Like the person who was imprisoned for 21/2 years yesterday for protesting against Putin. Someone posted on the board that he was like Dark Vader.
thanks for the imput Ron. I gather markets around the world are down today. Its Friday and any uncertainty causes these reactions. What is the uncertainty?, I certainly don't know?.
I have a question? Does anyone know of a company that kept a portion of itself private and the other portion of it went public?
sludge, thanks for keeping us posted on this type of news. Never know from one week to the next what may develop. It makes me wonder about nwog. It may come to pass that this very thing could happen to them. Is Lukoil the only true public trading conglomerate that the government doesn't have a strong hold on?.
Presently nwog only has its feet wet to go public here. I can't even picture the rest of the story. It could never be sold to any other oil producer other than a Russian, sounds like. It protects itself by keeping a portion of itself private. Its an odd arrangement. Once the merger is complete though it will have complete control. It may place itself in this position so it can't be bought out?. The other side of this is none of its oil can be exported.
Ron, sometimes I think they take in all the buy orders, and when this basket is empty, then start with the sale orders until the price is lower than you bought for.
Scalia, now thats the funniest thing I've heard all day!
Ron whats wrong with Gore in that picture? he choke on a chicken bone?. Thats hard to look at huh? He getting ready to do one of those that old man Bush did to the Japanese Prime Minister? Was that a class act or what? Intially I thought he may have had other intentions that were uncontrolable.
Yeah! think he will? Looks like Gore may be taking a run for the white house?
Know who I think should be running, hands down??????
I wish he would he's one the sharpest guys we have in town.
Might he just the votes????????????????????
I believe he could pick an excellent cabinet.
What we don't have are good military leaders. Our last was Stormin Norman. They don't make them like Bradley ot Patton anymore. My favorite two.
You wouldn't guess in a million years but he knows more than whats going on than GW and he doesn't have access. Here's a guy who could get things on track. Be tuff and articulate it.
Drum rolls please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lou Dobbs
Flan, how will go about making this exchange? I'm gonna do it but how do we do this exchange? Call our broker? I hope everyone gets on board with this plan so we can begin to profit from our investment. It would be dumb not to accept this exchange.
What time zone is the board in? My post is an hour ahead of my time.
Carl, it closed here at .85, I don't know what the conversion rate for this is. Lets see 3 marks 10 phennings. Oh geez was that a long time ago or what? Carl what was the belgium currency before the Euro?. When I was in Luxenburg I was using american dollars at the races and getting Franks in return, 50,000 what ever it was for a hamburger.
Rob, I don't know about the restricted shares but one day and probably not to distant future. It will again be only nwog. They've got away to go but once they get listed on the amex and are comfortable?. Putin is giving the ok on this because its Russian oil and it will remain in Russia. Whatever the case is, it won't get exported. No export tax either. * I read today that it may take up to 4 months for nwog to get acceptance through the SEC and the merger approval. Till then its business as usual with yet a smaller float I understand. If this is the case it may be 7 or 8 months for the otc listing. I doubt they can do both at the same time? Less ndol can when the other half is waiting for the stamp of approval?
Rob your right if the companies are diligent and stay on top of everything and execute their production and sales this could be an investment of a lifetime. I don't know about this acquisition they want or how its going, but this company is far from being done. I also get the impression that there isn't much space left for any more companies or start ups that may want to come on board? Its getting cramped is it, in that vast region? This could be the last and only chance for getting in on this level for a Russian oil investment.
* merger approval. The routine amount of time through the sec.
Its not a simple quick process. Nwog will have to stay in the closet till it can make its debut.
Scalia he's right you know. Don't put to much emphasis on it cause its on the pinks. The rise and fall can happen to any stock traded. I don't care what exchange its on and what dollar amount it trades at. Disney took a dump about 10 years ago and its never recovered. It been trading in this range for ever. Look at GM, Ford, Delphi, Refco, Siri is another over rated over traded stock ever. It not worth where it trades at now imo. This list is endless. It can look sweet one day and the next day leave a sour taste in your mouth. People are loving Google right now one morning it won't love them anymore. I think this one is insanity investing as well as Baidu.
Ndol,
If nwog wants the 41% they could take it through a buyout?
If the party controlling the 41% was opposed how could they do it?
Thanks Rob, I'll go take a look!
Rob, how you doing?. If a buyout had never been brought up and the prs would have stayed more in line with a merger. I believe the price would gone up more gradually and deliberately. But what it created was the big gold rush and then the disappointments and frustration and anger.
Now that all the hoopla is over maybe we all can be back to investing instead of the kneejerk reactions. Including me! Maybe this is a good investment lesson for 101.
The next several days will begin to lay a base. First phase will be getting to a more senior exchange the BB. When it has stability and can meet the requirements the amex.
I began thinking today about CFW. It registered on the Amex and not to long ago. I can't remember if a year or more has past. Anyway its revenues at the time were not all that great and it was a 4 dollar stock. It isn't generating today these kinda of revenues being projected. Its sharepriced doubled over the last year to almost 11 dollars. Its backed off since its high but it still trades at over 8 dollars. People were doubtful about CFW. The same doubts everyone is experiencing here was with Char, and it remained on the pinks. Shareholders that believed and stuck with them did great. Two different companies and they function differently but both are after the same product, oil.
I don't understand?
Price, I would love to see that part of the world someday. My wife has been to Israel, Egypt and her parents visited China and Moscow and Leningrad now St.Petersburg. One of the hotels they stayed at her father found a listening device in a radio. Its a funny story.
One day maybe we will all see greater change for Russia's people. Its people have suffered through a great deal and not only over the last century but many.
This arrangement with ndol and nwog must be meeting with everyones approval this far. I guess its because the oil and or gas thats produced will remain in Russia. If the Russian people and neighboring countries benefit from this great.
If we keep pumping this stuff out at this rate we'll soon not have enough in the ground to keep our axis greased. I guess we'll know when we start wobbling. (ha!)
Good talking with you Price
Pricechange, Your pretty funny. My wife is of Russian ancestry. Both sides of her family. Russian jew. Her fathers parents came to this country in 1924 by boat and arrived at Ellis Island. Her mothers grandparents were also from Russia. Her fathers parents last name before it was changed was Grabovsky. Before leaving Russia they lived in a border town between Russia and Poland. Our cat is a Siberian (Blue), Tatiyana. We had to wait at Chicago O'hare and wait for her flight to come in. It was as if we were waiting for our child to arrive. (funny). That was four years ago. She is beautiful, a show cat, and of course daddy's girl.
We live in Wisconsin, and her extended family lives in New York. How far are you from Moscow?. In the news today I heard that Putin imprisoned someone for 2/12 years for protesting against him. I get some news everyday coming out of Russia.
Our Best to you and you wife
Give a man a fish and he'll eat for that day. He waits everyday after to be given another, and he'll wait, and he'll wait and no fish ever comes. Sad! he should have at least asked the guy how he got it, and where!
The moral to this story is what?
Viva La Paim
Janice, we will see an IOU under another cusip maybe? You think Pearl is borrowing them to short them? Maybe to get back at the nss.
We're movin on up to the east side!
Viva La Paim
mild, that just like a woman huh?
navvin, someone posted earlier stushy I believe, made a good point about this. There will be less of our shares traded now because of the merger. If this is the case it can move up faster. I said up^!
cmf, its the way it reads. Our shares to nwog not theirs to us. We probably won't see anything for months, to bad huh?
czstkbrd, I believe this is the case and legal process thru the SEC for them to be a legal trading entity takes about 4 months. I think this is what I read on an early post regarding mergers.
What about the shares issued to us? restricted too? We won't see any till fall maybe?
Price, you sound very knowledgeable in this area, your sure that this is the way it will pan?. What about a future buyout? Unlikely because of the rest of Nwog stays private? I'm sure there is good reason why they choose to stay private I just wonder why that is? To big a headache maybe? I have to look again but who will be running this operation here the same people?
Jstick, If your right ndol gets a 41% controlling interest of 2 divisions and nwog gains a 59% controlling interest of ndol. This means nwog is the parent and at its discretion at anytime unless there is a clause of some sort written into this deal can buyout ndol's interest. Its a trade off. I don't know if ndol would have much say if the board agree's to the buyout. I guess they make a proposal and go from there. Someone more knowledgeable than me in this area would know. My brother would know, I'll give him a call later. Someone on this board propbably knows?
I think you got it jstick!
Muskett, I guess the next question to ask is, how many divisions does nwog have?.
Cool, thanks. Wigger Man? funny!
gold, who are these pictures of? That black guy makes me laugh everytime I see it. The gal is pretty cute.
Ron, I can't afford $20 for a gal of gas now!
The amex vs. otc,
Remember CFW?. When it listed on the amex it was a 4 dollar stock. If I remember it went to 6 or more. It drifted a little lower when the price per barrel came down. Institutional investors starting coming on board, and as oil prices began rising again the stock eventually was over 10 dollars in less than a year almost 11. Its now trading for over 8 dollars.
Someone better in math than me and are interested in a comparison may want to check it out. The amex was the key but Char always traded on the pinks and it did OK. The reasons were obvious why iit didn't move up
CFW does not generate the revenue ndol is now projecting. They function differently.
I guess this is an indication what can happen over a short time frame. 4 months, 8 months go by before we know it. The investors that stuck with these 2 did just fine. The doubts and the impatience we all experience were there with these 2 as well. We do know one thing, the company has the products that are most sought after today throughout the world. The demand will increase and oil prices will increase.
Great post stushy. It should be the pr today.
jg, good post very clear. It will take a while. I haven't read the requirements for the amex. This isn't fact but I think the company needs to maintain a 35mn market cap and the share price can't go below 3dollars for a specified period of time. I don't know how much earnings it needs to be generating. If I knew how to transfer this information to this board I would post it. For the Nyse its a 75mn dollar mkt cap, different qualifications, and I don't know what it is for the Nas. This is real informative isn't it?
It will take Nwog at least four I gather before any of their shares can be traded. In the interim maybe they will be buying some Ndol shares on the open market and bring have of Russia with them.
