Las Vegas company attempts to sell Sam’s Club on electric cars
BENTONVILLE — Anyone who has so much as looked at a gas station sign in the past week knows what all the fuss is about when it comes to gas prices. Prices have not only surpassed the $ 3 mark. They’ve shattered it.
By now, it seems unlikely that rapidly increasing gas prices will ever go away. This has turned some automotive manufacturers on to hybrid vehicles. Anything that requires putting less gas in the tank seems to be an attractive option these days.
But what Hybrid Technologies, a company based in Las Vegas, Nev., is attempting to do is forever change the face of the automotive industry, so said strategic relations expert Richard Griffiths.
Griffiths was in Bentonville on Tuesday with what many referred to as “ his toys. ” But they weren’t just any toys. He arrived in town with an electric car, motorcycle, bicycle and a soupedup vehicle that resembles something between a golf cart on steroids and a safari jeep. All of these looked like something from the future. The price tags for the items range from $ 1, 000 for the electric bicycle to $ 35, 000 for the electric car.
But while none of these products can be seen on the streets of Bentonville yet, they have been commonplace on National Aeronautics and Space Administration bases for more than a year. A taxi company in New York City has even put a fleet of these lithium-powered vehicles on the road.
“ We built the first vehicles like these with NASA a while back, ” Griffiths said. “ NASA told us they needed electric vehicles, and there wasn’t anything around. So we built these carts and cars and put them on their bases. ”
Hooking up with NASA provided Hybrid Technologies with an opportunity to test its product. Every day, NASA employees drive these lithium-powered vehicles back and forth. Several of the kinks that go hand in hand with new technology have been worked out and adjustments made.
With gas prices on the rise again and energy conservation efforts at an all-time high, Griffiths said right now is the time to make a statement. On Tuesday, he spent the afternoon showing his “ toys ” off to Sam’s Club executives and environmental-services experts.
“ We’re pitching our product to the biggest retailer in the world, ” Griffiths said. “ I’m getting feedback. What I hope is that Sam’s Club will make history. If Sam’s Club signs on, this could change the automotive industry. ”
From bicycles to cars, Hybrid Technologies has developed a line that runs solely on lithium power. To charge the small, space-age-design, two-door car, you simply plug it in. And the electricity required to complete a full charge costs about $ 1. 25.
Sam’s Club sees supplier after supplier, pitching new and unique products, every day. But electric vehicles are certainly not an everyday item. Sam’s Club President and CEO Doug McMillon was there in the Sam’s Club headquarters parking lot on Southwest Eighth Street to hear the pitch but gave no indication how seriously Sam’s Club was considering the product.
“ I talked to a paper supplier today, then water, ” McMillon said. “ Now this. It’s interesting, but we need to look at how we take this from concept to reality. ”
Sam’s Club will make its decision. But what’s certain is that most people driving or walking on Eighth Street on Tuesday afternoon had never seen anything like the technology cruising around the parking lot at Sam’s Club headquarters.

PrimEdge Common Stock to Be Distributed to Shareholders of Media Magic, Inc., Concluding PrimEdge Acquisitions of Media Magic's Subsidiaries
PrimEdge announced today that its Board of Directors has authorized the issuance of the Company's restricted common stock to Media Magic, Inc. shareholders on a pro rata basis, pursuant to the terms of the acquisition agreement in which PrimEdge (PINKSHEETS: PEDG) acquired Orangebox Entertainment, Inc. from Media Magic, Inc. in March 2007.
This is the second acquisition by PrimEdge of a subsidiary of Media Magic, Inc. In July 2006, PrimEdge acquired the former DigiKidz, Inc., recently renamed Prime Media, Inc. to better reflect the core business, also for restricted common stock.
After Media Magic, Inc. receives the PrimEdge common shares pursuant to the two acquisition agreements with PrimEdge, Media Magic, Inc. will distribute these shares to its shareholders. Media Magic anticipates this distribution to be completed by mid-July 2007.
About Media Magic, Inc.
Media Magic, Inc., formerly known as GLUV Corporation, was formed in mid-2005 as the result of a reverse merger of the privately held holding company, DigiKidz Holdings, Inc. and GLUV Corporation, which became the surviving entity. DigiKidz Holding, Inc. owned 100% of DigiKidz, Inc. and Orangebox Entertainment, Inc., both of which in mid-2005 were early stage companies. Subsequently, as the result of majority shareholders actions, all corporate management and the Board of Directors of Media Magic resigned in January 2006, even though the results of Media Magic's subsidiary companies demonstrated growth and progress throughout 2005. A completely new Media Magic Board of Directors was elected by the majority shareholders in January 2006 and charged with delivering value to the Media Magic shareholders, which they determined would be achieved by the sale of both of Media Magic's two subsidiaries. The first such sale was completed (DigiKidz) in mid-2006 and the second sale (Orangebox Entertainment, Inc.) in March 2007.
About PrimEdge, Inc.
PrimEdge, Inc. is a diversified holding company, owning and overseeing the operations of two majority owned subsidiaries, Orangebox Entertainment, Inc., a production and post production services provider to the entertainment industry, and Prime Media, Inc. (formerly DigiKidz, Inc.), a producer and distributor of family entertainment DVDs. PrimEdge, Inc. seeks rapid growth through additional acquisitions and the sales and marketing by its subsidiaries of proprietary products and services.
nice...
c'mon, looking for some volume today
looking forward to the show, should bring us a new audience on this stock
looking good here today
I'd like to break .21 first lol
But yea, .23 does look like it might be a thin area
sure would! weeeeeeeeee
Looking to chew through the .21s with relative ease...I say we close today, high .20s, maybe .30; if it moves like it should
yea, waiting on that to fall
Once it breaks .20 and gets VERT off the ask, there should be a strong run to close the day
This is frustrating, the only bottom play that hasn't worked for me...PGNE nice, WTVI was good, this thing won't move
Flying here today...
looks decent so far, we'll see where we are by the end of the day
well of course, I have reason to believe it's over, and this is what I'm counting on
well it's at the last level of support, today will tell us if the selling is truly relentless
I don't know I see .07 as the support, I think today we sustain a bounce
Nice news, I'm playing this long, so I'm not too worried about today's volume, eventually we're going to catch on
Nice, finally turning, I averaged down, looking pretty now...I don't see any resistance anytime soon weeeee
Green again at the open, .45 is the number we need to break...
Nice move this morning, I love this company it runs when it's supposed to, can't beat that
