Meme,
Just read your post about the upcoming Media Campaign. (Grandpadude, where is that countdown BTW?)
As busy as I am of late, I hope that everyone posts as they see and/or hear these ads.
GO.COM as a Search Engine????
Hmmm...what a novel idea. DUH!
GO.COM started out as one. When did they EVER think that it wasn't? So sad this thought is when we think back to all we used to post about how Disney was going to make INFOSEEK GREAT (before the Disney Buyout), remember?
Oddly, we all bought into this concept of GO.COM as a PORTAL. We were of the same mindset. We WANTED the INFOSEEK NAME to have more prominence, and I am noticing now on the new GO.COM Pages the words "Powered by Infoseek", and the old, original 'i' LOGO of Infoseek proudly displayed.
And it is funny to think back about how much we discussed the GO TRAFFIC SIGNAL! The article is correct.....seems like a hundred years aGO now!
GO.COM is trying to become what GO.COM always was.
A search engine! This is clearly something that Steve Kirsch should be proud of and I am emailing this post to him as a tribute to his original vision. I can't help but think back to all the wondering we did regarding why Infoseek and Disney didn't seem to get along, and I have to believe that all along Steve Kirsch was trying to create the very website that GO.COM has become today.
Therefore it is my belief that as we said all along, the problem seemed to lie with ole Harry Motro. Harry wanted some kind of SEEK/DIS Marriage that obviously couldn't work. Disney wanted a vehicle to link people to their business assets. Steve Kirsch had the vehicle to achieve both. I believe that if Harry Motro hadn't confused the simple issue so much we would have seen this Marketing Campaign from DAY ONE.
Oh well, here is to the next "one hundred years!" on the Internet!
Steve Kirsch, I'm keepin' an eye on your Propel.com "Amazon in a Box" Business
That Election Night Coverage PR sounds GREAT!
On a sadder note, on the Moneyscope Board, it seems that Biz Editor is back from vacation and did a typical **** poor job of responding to posts from myself as HIW. It figures!
Also, even though I still have my Portfolios on MY Start Page, when you click on the 'C' to get a chart, ANY CHART, the page says that the symbol doesn't exist. It figures!
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Perhaps, just perhaps.....
Disney finally has it right with the idea of SELLING CONTENT to others! If so, GOod for us!.....

Meme....ROFLMAO!
Ok....how does one SOUND TALL? I think by posting as though they were "above the crowd!" GJ must be 8'8" in his mind! HA!
OK...yes, I have blonde to brown hair and blue or brown eyes!
YOU? You are of medium complexion, with very dark brown to black hair, you stand 5'9" and weigh "appropriately". Your unique look is when you roll your eyes upward...TO THE LEFT! when angered!
You love to keep your fingernails groomed and polished. It is your "secret favorite pastime!"
You love your husband dearly, since you understand that only he could love you back in the way that you desire. You hate poodles. You would own Two Dalmations if you had your way. One, very marbled, and the other almost WHITE with a cool black tip just on the end of it's tail.
If you ever met GJ in public you'd proudly declare him an *sshole, most likely over the Grocery Store's Public Address System.
You are a Taurus, or at least have strong planetary influences in that sector of your chart.
YOU DESPISE TELEMARKETERS WITH A PASSION!
You are passionately desiring a grander life so you can better utilize your keen mind.
You lost something of great historical signifigance last week and are still looking "almost" everywhere for it.
And YES, you DID overtip that waitress last week. She didn't deserve it.
You are in the market for a new car, but you know that the house needs reroofed.
Your lucky number is 8. Your favorite flower is 'Baby's Breath'. Your favorite color is light yellow.
Ok, how did I do?
Meme, here is the report....
As promised, you asked me to fill you in as to how it went this weekend as I met with fellow investors in WLGS in Hershey/Gettysburg, PA. this weekend...
First of all, you are all right. Nobody looked ANYTHING like I 'expected'. No, that doesn't mean that they had warts or such.... the differences were in height, hair color, weight, the like!
BUT, in personality, I found that EACH and every one, to a "T", fit the bill. And in that I was not surprised at all.
Would I recommend a 'blind' meeting like this? Absolutely not. I was first very well comfortable in the 'personalities' I had spoken with in advance to proceeding with coordinating this event.
Would I do this again? Unquestionably, YES! And I would like to try to achieve it sometime with the fine folks I have met through SEEK/GO/DIG/DIS should 'others' be so inclined.
The poster from WLGS that 'started' this is nicknamed Carpenter on the WLGS Board. He and his wife have lived in Hawaii for 13 years, and prior to that they lived in New Mexico, and were both born and raised in California. Prior to this weekend, they had NEVER seen the East Coast of the USA. I was proud to be a part of that experience in their lives.
Carpenter used to post on the WLGS board as though WLGS were a TRAIN, gaining momentum, 'picking up passengers', 'pausing to refuel', and 'breaking down for repairs' !! His posts were always fun and refreshing !! One of the things we did today was to share a train ride through the Central PA. countryside. On board was an Accordian Polka Musician, .....which is an old Pennsylvania tradition, particularly at wedding receptions.
Having said all that, I can best sum up my feelings as to how much I enjoyed bringing complete strangers from the Internet together to share, but for a brief while, MY LITTLE PART OF THIS GLOBE, I offer the following post to you all....
http://www.ragingbull.altavista.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=WLGS&read=51613
There's just 'something' about good ole Polka Music that warms the soul!
Meme, you have to SELECT the Audio Message!
Go to the setup page and say YES to Audio!
It's pretty cool.
BTW, anybody else playing the Find the Fun Challenge? I am! I must admit that things SEEM as thought they are improving for the most part.
Now, if we could just get the Moneyscope folks to get off VACATION and interact with us!
Hello to you and WELCOME!
Sheeeesh! Where is everyone else today?
I also noticed the YOU HAVE NEW MESSAGES Audio. It is on BOTH the Home Page, AND the MyPage (IF you keep logged in all the time). I think it sounds pretty cool, too! I never was sure if AOL's "You've got Mail!" was even 'proper English'!
On another note, it seems that GO.COM has also deleted the "bunker" board that we were using since October 2, and I hope that all those that were posting there will find their way to this board.
Meme, perhaps a new round of emailing from you to invite them all is in order?
I am OFF WORK this weekend (first time in many many months) I will be visiting with fellow investors in Historic Hershey PA. It is called the WLGS Longs Get Together. I anticipate a beautiful peaceful 3 hour drive and a very fun relaxing weekend.
If interested, here is the website that I used to create the agenda...

Let me see if I can find out what is going on, butI am limited here in that I had a baby five days ago and am not yet ready to ease back into work. still trying to get a grip on this darn eat/sleep/cry rotation - it has us a little flummoxed. But I can forward this to one of my co-workers for help.

Hi Sonja,
Surely you remember me, no?
Many of the posters on the now defunct GO MONEY Message Boards are now posting on another thread at ANOTHER WEBSITE. We still believe in GO...ummmm..DIG!
Tonight, I posted on that website that the excitement that I hold for the possible EBAY TV PROGRAM that was announced today is surely potentially exciting for DIG Shareholders.
However, as in the past, we DIG Shareholders are feeling left in the dark as to how this potential program could benefit us as shareholders in DIG.
All along, we have felt as though the news announced regarding anything that may be of benefit to DIG Shareholders is clearly only going to help the share price of DIS (Disney!)
I would like to hear your comments regarding the recent events of the last months regarding DIG.
The Message Board for GO is GOne. We as investors had to regroup and post elsewhere. We have tried to get the folks at MONEYSCOPE at ABCNEWS.COM to interact with us, seemingly to NO AVAIL. It seems that the only one there who can answer our questions is "conveniently" ON VACATION.
Sonja, of all those that I have communicated with in the past, you have been the most honest.
I'm still here, holding....waiting.
We need to know more. We need to know what is happening.
How will the possible EBAY/DIG TV Program help investors in DIG? Will Disney get ALL the revenues since ABC is part of Disney?
The article of today seems so vague. DIG remains as a stepchild of DISNEY. What can the investors in DIG possibly hope for in the future?
Your ole friend,
Dave
An interesting thought...
How long now have we been awaiting for DIG to converge the Internet WITH TV? Now, with EBAY, seems that EBAY wants to converge the TV with the Internet.
Sometimes the most unexpected thing is what ultimately turns "concept" into "reality"!
Ok, so maybe I'll buy SOME Dig, and SOME EBAY, too!
WOW! Didn't know that Meg Whitman of Ebay WORKED for Disney before. hmmmmm.......Interesting Bedfellows.
So, this IS actually in the works.
Question is, as usual, how much of this Interactive TV revenue will be CREDITED to DIG. Probably none. However, most likely, ALL THE EXPENSES will be charged to Dig.
I think it's time for me to start emailing Sonja Beals Iribarren again! Grandpadude, do you still have her email addy? I think I threw it out a while back as hopeless, but I am getting this BIG BIG ITCH to ..........buy.........more.......DIG......(there, I got that out! Cough!) This time around though, I want to KNOW WHAT I am BUYING MORE of in advance!
Perhaps if Disney wasn't so blind as to have the GO Message Board removed and would have truly interacted with us instead of assigning us to be MONITORED, this idea could have been initiated months aGO.
I think it's a great idea.
Is it original, or is it "in the works"?
BTW....
Baaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrffffffffffffff is putting it mildly Daisyobear!
Trying to get the answers from the......
HORSE'S..........ummmmmm..........mouse's MOUTH!
Hello DisneyEars!
As a shareholder in Disney Internet Group, I am curious as to where the revenues obtained from the sales of Disney Memorabilia will be attributed. Will they become revenues solely of Disney, or will they be revenues of Disney Internet Group, or perhaps a percentage to both DIS and DIG?
This is a question of discussion amongst Long Term Investors in SEEK/GO/DIG on a Message Board we are currently communicating at.
If you aren't sure of the answer, will you please contact Michael Eisner, Steve Bornstein, or Disney Investor Relations to obtain an answer about this?
Anxious for your reply.
(Signed, me!)
DIG SHAREHOLDER
Sure to get an answer!
Yeah, right.

Steve Kirsch, email, pinball, mice and more!....
Here is a superb article about Steve Kirsch, founder of Infoseek.
Wrote an email program for UCLA at AGE 12!
Fixed pinball machines at AGE 13 for $30 per hour!
And more!
The guy is simply amazing. I really would love to work for him.
STEVE, I WANT THE MARKETING JOB FOR PROPEL!
http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/publicfeature/aug00/prof.html
Admiral Seek,
I know how you feel! Ever since the announcement that DIG had sold Ultraseek to Inktomi, I have wondered much the same things.
What is clearly negligent on the part of DISNEY (and PERHAPS the DISNEY INTERNET GROUP Management itself) is their continuing desire to keep long term investors in the dark.
It's criminal AT IT'S WORST, and EVASIVE at it's best!
Not WANTING to be "political", but...
Perhaps Mr. Clinton is stepping in to save us all?
No true political COMMENTS here, but it IS nice to see that as he leaves office, Mr. "MONICA" is thinking about the future....
Perhaps?

These talking heads never cease to amaze me.
You are so right Meme, as usual!
Doublespeak, confusion, and "fence riding!" That's the modus operandi of the Financial Reporters and Analysts today! They won't take a stand. They won't refute anothers' opinion.
They act like children running for "Class President" in Junior High School.
Is there nobody out there in the Financial and/or Media World today who will stand on their own two feet?
Oh, oh....NOW I sound like CRAMER!
LOL :)
Mr. Litvack....one smart dude!
What a nice polite public way to say "Sayonara Eisner"!
Don't get me wrong, I like DISNEY, and have said in the past, I always will! But all this stuff I always read about how difficult it is to work with Eisner is simply "getting old".
I am still miffed that Eisner did not live up to answering all who wrote him regarding the new GO.COM rollout. I think it was a marketing ploy and I still envision Mr. Eisner GREEDILY jotting notes in his study while he read the emails that many had sent him. (MOST OF THEM MOST LIKELY FROM US!)
I've just grown to despise the guy, and I think that it is time to bring new leadership aboard. A TRUE LEADER would "do as he says", and "say as he does". Mr. Eisner isn't qualified for true leadership. Disney is all that Disney is because of FAR MORE than Mr. Eisner. My stomached rolled over when in this year's Letter to the Investors of Disney, Mr. Eisner proudly proclaimed that his wife had advised him to NOT fill the investor letter with so many comments about his family. He made light of it. It was distasteful.
Why am I typing these thoughts? Well, to me, DIG is 72% owned by Disney, and it is sadly apparent that DIG is 72% CONTROLLED by Disney, and that Disney is 100% CONTROLLED BY MR. EISNER.
That means that my thoughts, our thoughts, my beliefs, our beliefs, my desires, our desires, are SIMPLY OVERCONTROLLED.
Egads, I sound just like SZ and GJ here, and I do not intend to. But I believe, as they say, that "The Writing is on The Wall", and it doesn't look to me anymore that Mr. Eisner will ever get off his personal EGO TRIP, and get DIG's stock price up!
Mr. Eisner, if you can't "handle the heat", GET THE HELL OUT OF THE KITCHEN!
Suddenly thrust into a whacko world...
Hi all. Sorry I have been absent so much of late. WORK, WORK, WORK!!!!!!!!
Funny, although DIG was up almost 21% today, it is of no signifigance to us who have held on this long.
However, I found this article today about the future of Wireless and it discusses DoCoMo, one of DIG's new partners at great length. I'm also happy in that the article ties in to one of my other long term investments, WLGS.
As Wireless Telephony and Internet Access increases, I hold VERY VAST amounts of belief in both DIG and WLGS to be a part of a huge global communication empire.
Or, at least I can keep dreaming...

A GROG toast to the Captain!
Captain, and ALL!
If aboard this blime ship we must wait, let's rejoice and sing sad songs of great!
Ok, "crack open the GROGS! And toss me a brownie!"
When up the shrouds the sailor goes
And ventures on the yard
The landsman who no better know
Believe his lot is hard.
Bold Jack with smiles each danger meets
Weighs anchor heaves the log
Trims all the sails belays his sheets
And drinks his can of grog.
If to engage they give the word
To quarters he'll repair
Now winding in the dismal flood
Now quivering in the air.
When waves 'gainst rocks to rend and roar
You'll n'er hear him repine
Though he's on Greenland's icy shore
Or burning beneath the line.
When sailing orders to arrive
Bold Jack he takes his leave
My dear sweetest Pol he cries
I pray now do not grieve.
Thy Jack will take his daily can
Of grog and drink to thee
In hopes that thou will n'er forget
Thy sailor who's at sea.
But should thou false or fickle prove
To Jack who loves thee dear
No more upon my native shore
Can I with joy appear.
But restless as the briny main
Must heartless heave the log
Shall trim the sails and try to drown
My sorrow in cans of grog.
Ok, let's LIVEN this board UP!
So, what we do next here?
Is anyone up for a game of "Tiddly Winks"?

Public Confession...RE: GJ, Dilly, and Jet...
Meme and Grandpadude are aware that I received email from GJ after the GO Boards closed down. In his email, he told me that he was sorry for everything that had happened and that he is not any of the things he proclaimed to be. He stated to me that he was fat, balding, and ugly ..... and BROKE!
In total retrospect, this is clearly a poor soul that obviously allowed his losses in GO.COM to take the better of him.
Both Meme and GPDude advised me well when I asked their opinions in email as to how to best handle this. They suggested that I take a polite "sidestep".....to a degree, which I have. I am emailing with GJ, and he seems to feel better in emailing than in posting on public Message Boards. In fact, he says that even his DOCTOR says he is doing much better because of it!
GJ was and IS a very troubled soul. No question.
I will continue the burden of "entertaining his delusions" and would like you all to know that GJ has absolutely no idea about where we are posting now!
Here is what troubles me more......
I cannot get over how Dilly and Jet decided to vacate that "neverland" that we were at. I know that Dilly thought that our secret had somehow been revealed to GJ and that it was only a matter of time before GJ would be posting on the "neverland" board, or THIS ONE!
PUBLIC NOTICE!
I publicly ask for both DilletanteOne and JetStream to begin posting here as members of this Community! I miss both of their postings and I hope to see them back here soon.
GOodnight!
Meme! WOW, just read your post, and I must say that ...
for the VERY FIRST TIME EVER...
I believe that perhaps, just perhaps.....
Mr. Eisner might finally UNDERSTAND and be able to ARTICULATE the Disney Internet Group Assets.
Marketing Muscle Carrot?
Carrot, you say?
To borrow a Time Warner Character, that carrot question makes us ponder....
"Uh, What's up, DOC?".......lol!
Now that Mr. Eisner finally seems to understand what the Internet is about, more than ever.....it is time for him to deliver! We've been patient far too long now, haven't we?
Thanks for sharing that though! It reminds me of the old days on the old SEEK Board!
Edge of Climax?
Screwing?
ROTFLMFAO!
Reply from Michael Eisner!
Yea, right.
YADA, YADA, YADA !!!

I'm really disappointed.
I wanted to speak to Michael Eisner. But the reply I got was NOT from him.
This is in the least, deceitful to investors of Disney Internet Group.
Please assure me that Mr. Eisner TRULY saw my email reply to him and ask him to reply back.
Thank you,
