Trying to get caught up. Doesn't the Bush doctrine sound a lot like the Kennedy doctrine when he was faced with the Soviet threats? Just wondering. I'll shoot you before you shoot me.
Concerning global warming, There are two logical theories one can argue. Both negate the impact of global warming.
One, life and this earth were created by God and there is nothing we can do to destroy His creation.
Two, we evolved over the years and are still evolving. In which case, as the earth, temparature rises we will continue to adapt and survive.
Which theory do you subscribe?
It is great to watch a campaign melt down. Obama is on the ropes and his so called "quick thinking" is going to be the ruin of him.
Thanks for the link. I have even more reasons to keep Barrack the socialist out of office.
It was meant as sarcasm or satirical. Man you people are sensitive. Still waiting for 5 accomplishments that Obama has done.
Come on down to Georgia and you too can get a job. This country was founded on Blood, sweat and tears and that's how "I" was raised.
Yes I like Bush. I have a job and have not had a tax increase but rather a tax cut. Bush has meant no more attacks on US soil. The South is run by Repulicans and it is booming. Less taxes equal more jobs. Bush has done more for this economy than people will give him credit for. We have had 0 quarters of negative growth in over 7 years. That means no recession. No other modern Pres can make that claim.
Does anybody know what the profit percentage is for oil companies? Also because of the corporate tax structure, Exxon is the only big oil company that operates in America. You might as well just up the current fuel tax, because that is what will happen. Corporations DO NOT pay taxes. Customers do.
Since Bush's name won't be on the ticket in Nov, I will have to vote for McCain.
Add to that opec is considering reducing their output of oil to increase the ppb of oil.
9 things McCain did, anybody name 5 things Obama did.
False. When faced with this issue in real life, one has two options; get a second job - raise taxes or spend less - cut budgets. Taxes are not the solution this country needs.
Yes, kinda like people who are so filled with hatred that they can not even refer to the other candidate by their name. I agree with almost nothing Obama believes in but I at least give him the respect of calling him by his proper last name. Pitiful how the Dems are filled wuth such disrespectfullness.
Obama picked Bidin. He failed at one attempt and only received 1 percent of the vote in this attempt. McCain clearly has Obama on the run and playing defense. This country is center-right. Obama is the most left candidate the Dems have ever run. He is scrambling move to the right. How long before he agrees that the war was the right thint to do? It is hysterical just how he is waffling. Bush for any faults you may find with him has stood his ground and not backed down. That is leadership. Watch how Obama will run toward the center. He can't win on the left because America is not left.
To lighten things up. I love Dubya, but this is funny.

George: Condi! Nice to see you. What's happening?
Condi: Sir, I have the report here about the new leader of China.
George: Great. Lay it on me.
Condi: Hu is the new leader of China.
George: That's what I want to know.
Condi: That's what I'm telling you.
George: That's what I'm asking you. Who is the new leader of China?
Condi: Yes.
George: I mean the fellow's name.
Condi: Hu.
George: The guy in China.
Condi: Hu.
George: The new leader of China.
Condi: Hu.
George: The Chinaman!
Condi: Hu is leading China.
George: Now whaddya' asking me for?
Condi: I'm telling you Hu is leading China.
George: Well, I'm asking you. Who is leading China?
Condi: That's the man's name.
George: That's who's name?
Condi: Yes.
George: Will you or will you not tell me the name of the new leader of China?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yassir? Yassir Arafat is in China? I thought he was in the Middle East.
Condi: That's correct.
George: Then who is in China?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yassir is in China?
Condi: No, sir.
George: Then who is?
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Yassir?
Condi: No, sir.
George: Look, Condi. I need to know the name of the new leader of China. Get me the Secretary General of the U.N. on the phone.
Condi: Kofi?
George: No, thanks.
Condi: You want Kofi?
George: No.
Condi: You don't want Kofi.
George: No. But now that you mention it, I could use a glass of milk. And then get me the U.N.
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: Not Yassir! The guy at the U.N.
Condi: Kofi?
George: Milk! Will you please make the call?
Condi: And call who?
George: Who is the guy at the U.N?
Condi: Hu is the guy in China.
George: Will you stay out of China?!
Condi: Yes, sir.
George: And stay out of the Middle East! Just get me the guy at the U.N.
Condi: Kofi.
George: All right! With cream and two sugars. Now get on the phone.
If he gets most of them he will win in a landslide.
Then what is the point. McCain can win with the conservative vote. Look at this thread. No way would so many people have come to McCain's defense without the Palin pick. It was a brilliant move and shows that Obama is not in his league. He is the one that did not want to lock up the win by putting Hil on the ticket as no 2. He made a bad choice and McCain was allowed to make a good one by putting a woman on the ticket.
Truth exists;Falsehood has to be invented.
Do you think he needs all Hil's supporters to win?
You really did not think the liberal media would enjoy his speech, did you?
Is that a slam on Christians?
Do you even understand the concept of the US budget and what percent is spent every year on the military?
Not now, but I believe that Palin can persuade him to see the light. The area in ANWR that is needed to drill to produce oil and gas is the size of LAX, about 2000 acres in an area that is millions of acres.
And my wife was offended by you calling me sweetcheeks.
Wrong. In 2006 the Dow Jones was hitting new highs and nobody talked about it in the MSM. Do you remember those days. Things were not so bad, if you had an open mind and did not read the headlines everyday. Then less than 2 years later the dems have put this country into the toilet, not Bush or the republicans. Brainwashed people can not think for themselves. They are only looking for handouts. It is funny how JFK would be kicked out of the modern democratic party. He cut taxes and was tough when it came to defending our country. Reagan did not leave the democrat party. It left him.
Look at all the states in the south that have a republican governors, our economies are doing good. We have the greatest amount of growth, both in housing and jobs. Compare that with the Northeast, which is heavily democrat. They have job loss and negative growth. Detroit, Chicago and New York could do better to have more jobs and less taxes than a strong community organizer.
THE BEST MAN TURNED OUT TO BE A WOMAN
September 3, 2008
John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, as his running mate finally gave Republicans a reason to vote for him -- a reason, that is, other than B. Hussein Obama.
The media are hopping mad about McCain's vice presidential selection, but they're really furious over at MSNBC. After drawing "Keith + Obama" hearts on their denim notebooks, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews stayed up all night last Thursday, writing jokes about Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, the presumed vice presidential pick. Now they can't use any of them.
So the media are taking it out on our brave Sarah and her 17-year-old daughter.
They claimed Palin was chosen only because she's a woman. In fact, Palin was chosen because she's pro-life, pro-gun, pro-drilling and pro-tax cuts. She's fought both Republicans and Democrats on public corruption and does not have hair plugs like some other vice presidential candidate I could mention. In other words, she's a "Republican."
As a right-winger, Palin will appeal to the narrow 59 percent of Americans who voted for another former small-market sportscaster: Ronald Reagan. Our motto: Sarah Palin is only a heartbeat away!
If you're going to say Palin was chosen because she's a woman, you're going to have to demonstrate that the runners-up were more qualified. Gov. Tim Pawlenty seems like a terrific fellow and fine governor, but he is not obviously more qualified than Palin.
As for former governor of Pennsylvania Tom Ridge and Democratic Sen. Joe Lieberman, the other also-rans, I can think of at least 40 million unborn reasons she's better than either of them.
Within the first few hours after Palin's name was announced, McCain raised $4 million in campaign donations online, reaching $10 million within the next two days. Which shortlist vice presidential pick could have beaten that?
The media hysterically denounced Palin as "inexperienced." But then people started to notice that she has more executive experience than B. Hussein Obama -- the guy at the top of the Democrats' ticket.
They tried to create a "Troopergate" for Palin, indignantly demanding to know why she wanted to get her ex-brother-in-law removed as a state trooper. Again, public corruption is not a good issue for someone like Obama, Chicago pol and noted friend of Syrian National/convicted felon Antonin Rezko.
For the cherry on top, then we found out Palin's ex-brother-in-law had Tasered his own 10-year-old stepson. Defend that, Democrats.
The bien-pensant criticized Palin, saying it's irresponsible for a woman with five children to run for vice president. Liberals' new talking point: Sarah Palin: Only five abortions away from the presidency.
They claimed her newborn wasn't her child, but the child of her 17-year-old daughter. That turned out to be a lie.
Then they attacked her daughter, who actually is pregnant now, for being unmarried. When liberals start acting like they're opposed to pre-marital sex and mothers having careers, you know McCain's vice presidential choice has knocked them back on their heels.
But at least liberal reporters had finally found someone their own size to pick on: a 17-year-old girl.
Speaking of Democrats with newborn children, the media weren't particularly concerned about John Edwards running for president despite his having a mistress with a newborn child.
While the difficult circumstances of Palin's pregnant daughter are being covered like a terrorist attack on the nation, with leering accounts of the 18-year-old father, the media remain resolutely uninterested in the parentage of Edwards' mistress's love child. Except, that is, the hardworking reporters at the National Enquirer, who say Edwards is the father.
As this goes to press, the latest media-invented scandal about Palin is that McCain didn't know her well before choosing her as his running mate. He knew her well enough, though admittedly, not as well as Obama knows William Ayers.
John F. Kennedy, who was -- from what the media tell me -- America's most beloved president, detested his vice president, Lyndon Johnson.
Until Clinton interviewed Al Gore one time before choosing him as his vice presidential candidate, he had met Gore only one other time: when Gore was running for president in 1988 and flew to Little Rock seeking Clinton's endorsement. Clinton turned him down.
To this day, there's no proof that Bill Clinton ever met one-on-one with his CIA director, James Woolsey, other than a brief chat after midnight the night before Woolsey's nomination was announced.
Barring some all-new, trivial and probably false story about Palin -- her former hairdresser got a parking ticket in 1978! -- the media apparently intend to keep being hysterical about McCain's alleged failure to "vet" Palin properly. The problem with this argument is that it presupposes that everyone is asking: "HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?"
No one's saying that.
Attacks on McCain's "vetting" process require the media to keep claiming that Palin has a lot of problems. But she doesn't have any problems. Remember? Those were all blind alleys.
Unfortunately, for the ordinary TV viewer hearing nonstop hysteria about nonspecific "problems," it takes a lot of effort to figure out that every attack liberals have launched against Palin turned out to be a lie.
It's as if a basketball player made the winning shot in the last three seconds of the game and liberals demand that we have a week-long discussion about whether the player should have taken that shot. WHAT IF HE MISSED?
With Palin, McCain didn't miss.

Education, no response. Next topic.
The economy is only one issue.
Drill, drill, drill, drill,drill...That's the bigger issue.
Clinton vetoed the drill in ANWR bill in , I believe 1996. 12 years ago. We could be paying around 1 dollar for gas and instead are paying close to 4.
"Shooting his gun off"...That is funny...too funny.
I am in favor of vouchers. Competition in education would do wonders to get some teachers off their butts and educate.
The education debate is too big and one which I would prefer not to engage in at this time.
How is Obama going pay for everything in his speeches, again?
I believe the debate has been won that higher taxes decrease jobs. Who pays for corporate tax increases? The people who buy products from the companies that were taxed. So taxes lead to either job loss or higher prices. Neither is what this country need at this time.
MINIMUM wage. Wait - I've been wrong the whole time. I see the light. Since our union teachers can not teach and prepare kids to make an honest living, we should make it such that all workers will start off making 7+ an hour.
I guess doing away with capital punishment for gang related crime was the right thing to do after all. So many decisions, I just wish I had made one right. I bet Obama thinks this every night. Should have picked Hil, but I'm glad you did not.
Yes. Why do you think that McDonalds is paying 7-8 dollars an hour to start out. The minimum wage is a stating point.
Can we afford another 9/11, which has not occurred since we started sending money overseas? I'll take money spent on a war, rather than worrying whether or not the building I am in will be blown up.
Polls mean nothing as has been the case over the last few decades. The early polls are heavily weighed with democrat voters. On was taken with only a 26% republican representation and Obama still only had a 9% lead. This is why every, go back and check election has the Democrat leading up to the last few weeks of the election and in most cases the republican wins. The polls right now are scaring the shiatzi out of the dems.
There is even talk of putting Hillary on the ticket and giving Bidin the boot. This will help Obama, but will once again show that he can not demonstrate the ability to make good, sound decision based on long range results.
Thank your dems for the unemployment rate. With the increase of the minimum wage comes job loss. The minimum wage was increase from around 5 to 7 dollars an hour. That means that what 4 employees could be paid to do, now has to be done by 3 to keep the payroll the same. Not to mention that this is primarily responsible for the increase of everything else that is produced by an employee somewhere. Most union jobs are tied to the minimum wage, whether it be 3,4 or 5 times the minimum wage rate. Basically the dems gave us higher cost of living. That seemed good at the time, but as always they do not consider the long term effects of their policies. But as usual, the just blame Bush crowd comes in and tries to cover up the real reasons for why our economy that as was stated earlier had 4 % unemployment when the dems took over congress in 2006 and now is the highest that it has ever been since the Bush admin took over from the floundering Clinton years.
"palin is a member of the nra - imo that is an organized gang."
That is the funniest thing I have read since I started reading ihub a few years ago. If everyone owned a gun and shot everyone who tried to inflict a violent crime on them-there would be no more criminals left to inflict violent crimes. Self defense is not a crime and last time I checked it is not a crime to kill someone in self defense.
Key point is she CUT funding. She did not end funding. To balance a budget you have to make tough decisions. Many like minded programs need to be cut out of the current federal budget. I make decisions every day, week and month on which things I will not spend money. We as a country can not continue writing blank checks to people that make no contribution to society.
I could not agree more. With the recent decline in the housing market comes a great opotunity to by rental houses. My wife and I closed on our first one 2 Mondays ago. Something about life giving you lemons and making lemonade out of it.
I was just thinking since Alaska became a state in 1959. It would be hard to play the race card against her. She can speak freely of Obama's politics, or lack thereof and not worry about the race card. But you and I both know this won't happen.
What a speech. Had to catch it on radio until my wife and I could get to the TA and catch Fox News with Brit and Gretta.
This is only my personal opinion, but I think one of the reasons that she was not available on Tuesday was because she was rewriting her speech or maybe having it rewritten. I think the media made a very bad calculation and all gloves were off last night. She told it like it was and put Barry in his place. You can not argue or rebut anything in her speech. It was heartwarming and powerful. Now I see how she could have beaten an incumbent governor from her own party. This woman is amazing.
Seeing only clips of the speech, I love the way she made eye contact and you could tell that she was not reading from a telepromter. At least if she was, she is the best I have seen at it.
I think the race has just begun.
And oh yes, she is not here to win over the die hard libs, just the one who are undecided and bring home the conservative base that believe we should have never taken God out of this great country. Every great civilizations downfall has been preceded by immorality. Morals and laws stem from one underlying truth, there is good and evil, right and wrong.
I'll shut up now!
Good morning everyone.
Truth exists:Falsehood has to be invented.
That's all they do. They can't argue with logic and no one wants discuss the real issue. How much will Obama's presidency cost? Oh well, I guess it is better to attack one you dislike than defend someone you do like.
57 states?
What's in the heart comes out via the tongue!
>From Rush Limbaugh's radio show yesterday.....
Hey, folks, you want to tweak the Drive-By Media with me right now?
You are aware, probably, that Barack Obama lost his bearings recently and said that he was going to campaign in all 57 states.
You heard this? And everybody chalked it up t o, 'Well, he's tired.'
You know, this is a Dan Quayle moment. I mean, Dan Quayle goes out there and misspells 'potato,' and we still hear jokes about it.
Barack Obama says he's gonna go out and campaign in 57 states, he was just tired, you know, it's been such a long campaign, he's been so many places, he probably thinks there are 57 states.
Well, I have here a printout from a web site called the International Humanist and Ethical Union. And here is how the second paragraph of an article on that website begins.
'Every year from 1999 to 2005 the organization of the Islamic conference representing the 57 Islamic states presented a resolution to the United Nations Commission on human rights called combating.' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organisation_of_the_Islamic _Conference)
Obama said he's going to campaign in 57 states, and it turns out that there are 57 Islamic states.
So did Obama just lose his bearings, or was this a more telling slip, ladies and gentlemen?
