Patriot Scientific Reports First Quarterly Profit In Its 18-Year History
Tuesday April 5, 8:00 am ET
Successful Licensing Credited With Dramatic Economic Turn-Around
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2005--On March 31, in its first quarterly Webcast, Patriot Scientific Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: PTSC - News) announced it's first-ever quarterly profit - a major step forward for a company that recently signed a major licensing agreement with AMD (NYSE: AMD - News).
PTSC has also recently received from The Embedded Microprocessor Benchmark Consortium (EEMBC) the highest-ever ConsumerMark(TM) performance rating on its IGNITE(TM) microprocessor. EEMBC is an independent microprocessor testing, benchmarking and evaluation organization.
Revenue for the third quarter, which ended February 28, 2005, was approximately $2.9 million. This is up dramatically from revenue of $3,384, the amount reported for the period which ended February 29, 2004. Net income for the third quarter was approximately $600,000, compared to a net loss for the third quarter of fiscal 2004 of $975,894.
"This first ever quarterly profit," according to Jeff Wallin, president and chief executive officer, is an important milestone for Patriot Scientific Corporation. "For several years, the board and management team have been aggressively pursuing a carefully-crafted two-pronged strategy, first, to license the IGNITE(TM) technology and, second, to enforce its patent portfolio. Both strategies are designed to increase revenue and add shareholder value."
"This first-ever profit was the direct result of our entering into several licensing agreements with AMD," Wallin said. "We are pursuing licensing for both our core technology, IGNITE(TM), and for our patent portfolio of seven issued patents, and our license agreement with AMD covers both IGNITE(TM) and our patent portfolio."
"On behalf of our 5,809,336 patent," Wallin explained, "we are aggressively pursuing licensing revenue from companies that have been using our design without a license. We have begun licensing and promoting our newly evaluated world-class IGNITE(TM) microprocessor. AMD's endorsement of PTSC through its licensing of both our IGNITE(TM) and patent portfolio earmarks a positive inauguration of our long term growth strategy."
IGNITE(TM), the revolutionary ultra-low-power array microprocessor, intended primarily for the hand-held battery-powered applications market, received what is essentially a "best-we've-ever-tested" ConsumerMark(TM) rating from EEMBC in December, 2004; and in March, 2005, Patriot successfully completed the GNU C/C++ compiler software that will pave the way for IGNITE's adoption by manufacturers.
"With those accomplishments, and with AMD's recent licensing of this technology, we look forward to significant gains in market share for our core technology," Wallin concluded.

(i)The engineering would be entirely different. A qualified engineer would have to design how the components talk to each other, how to install the components in aircraft seats, select components that have been tested for airworthiness and made by companies with the high level of ISO certification required by the FAA, etc.(/i)

Evidently you're getting the Wisconsin weather we had this weekend.
Do you really feel that the other board is loaded with fanatics? Do you mean Agora?
You in the UP or more south? Danl is in the UP
Philo
What inevitable is that?
It's kind of interesting to see this board being so quite after the release of earnings. HMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, either the naysayers are on vacation, or they've got their fine tooth combs out and still coming up empty handed.
Hey, just maybe, there's life left in this company. I'm sure it would surprise alot of people that they are actually moving forward.
I know it's a novel idea, but I guess time will tell.
So as Don Ameche said in Trading Places.........BUY, BUY, BUY................

heheheheheheheheheehehehehehhe
I would like to, but
I just can't do it.
Must be good news if they wait till the last day. LOL.
They're probably at the mercy of their accounting firm, since they may have to pay upfront.
Hopefully they did ok on the sale of aluminum pop cans to circumvent any unforseen shortfalls in the accounting fees so they can get this BLOCKBUSTER 10Q out the door.

New Intel Itanium 2 Platforms Make Strides from Casinos to Space
Monday November 8, 2:00 pm ET
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 8, 2004--Intel Corporation enhanced its entire line of Intel® Itanium® 2 processors delivering new versions of multi, dual and low voltage processors. These new processors are the next step toward the goal of using computing platforms based on industry standards to gain more market segment share from the $20 billion proprietary RISC market segment.(1)
More than 70 OEMs are now shipping Itanium-based systems. The platform currently supports a choice of five leading operating systems and a vast suite of software applications, increasing the choice and flexibility of Itanium-based solutions for IT managers worldwide.
The Itanium 2 platform provides excellent computing advantages for transaction processing, data warehousing, business intelligence, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and high performance computing. This platform complements Intel® Xeon(TM) processors with Intel® Extended Memory 64 Technology (Intel EM64T) which are targeted at general purpose enterprise applications such as Web, workgroup, file, print, infrastructure, and application logic giving IT managers end-to-end 64-bit computing solutions.
"The multi-billion dollar RISC market segment is ripe for the Intel approach of delivering outstanding performance, choice of systems and software at more affordable price points," said Abhi Talwalkar, vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Platforms Group at Intel. "Today's enhancements to the Itanium 2 processor lineup will further support customer migration away from costly, proprietary systems."
Already, the new Itanium 2 processors are being deployed for mission-critical applications including powering one of the world's fastest supercomputer at NASA, a SGI Altix(0) system consisting of 10,240 Itanium 2 processors running the Linux operating system. Additionally, MGM MIRAGE, a leading and respected hotel and gaming company, has deployed a Unisys system with 16 Itanium 2 processors for a data-warehousing project based upon Microsoft Windows(0) Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL(0) Server 2000.
"Unisys ES7000(0) servers with Itanium 2 processors meet our needs for the massive data crunching and analysis we do on our customer data because of the reliability features and scalability they deliver for future growth," said Glenn Bonner, CIO for MGM MIRAGE.
The Bank of New York has deployed a four-way HP Integrity-based Itanium 2 processor server running Microsoft Windows Server 2003 as part of a global equity trading solution that enables them to manage growth in business volume and address increasing transaction complexities.
"We removed a critical hurdle to business growth and achieved 100 percent hardware ROI within three months by deploying our trading system on the Itanium 2 processor-based HP Integrity Servers running Windows," said Joseph Weisbord, chief technology officer, G-Trade Services Ltd, a broker-dealer subsidiary of The Bank of New York. "HP Integrity servers deliver substantial price performance benefits compared to proprietary RISC solutions and provide a rock solid foundation for business-critical applications like our 24-by-7 global equity trading platform."
Intel is refreshing the Itanium 2 product line with six new processors that deliver performance increases of 15 percent for database transaction processing and up to 35 percent for overall integer and floating point performance.(2) The new processors include the Itanium 2 processor MP at 1.60 GHz with 9 MB level three (L3) cache at 400 MHz front side bus (FSB) for business critical applications such as database and ERP. Also available are the Itanium 2 processor MP at 1.60 GHz with 6 MB of L3 cache and the Itanium 2 processor MP at 1.50 GHz with 4 MB of L3 cache. A HP Integrity Superdome based on the new processors is the first to achieve the 100,000 sales and distribution users milestone on the SAP SD 3-tier benchmark.(3)
The Itanium 2 processor DP at 1.60 GHz with 3 MB L3 cache at 400 and 533 MHz FSB delivers outstanding price performance for high performance computing clusters and front-end enterprise systems. The new processor also delivers outstanding floating point performance per compute node, resulting in up to 40 percent better price per gigaflops (billion calculations per second), a measure of price-performance for compute-intensive workloads, over RISC-based systems.(2)
The Itanium 2 processor LV at 1.30 GHz with 3 MB of L3 cache at only 62 watts is price and power optimized for low cost systems and dense form factors such as blade servers. Intel also offers Itanium-based server platforms based on these new processors to systems builders and product integrators.
A wide range of Itanium 2 processor systems ranging from two-way to 512-way systems are available from system manufacturers worldwide including Bull, Dell, Fujitsu, Fujitsu Siemens, HP, Hitachi, IBM, Kraftway, Lenovo, NEC, Maxdata, Optimus, Samsung, SGI, and Unisys.

but it is nice to see you still around. I wonder if Anna still is.....
That would be a novel thing now..........gnues, who'da thunk we'd get some gnues

Well, because you are so good at whatever it is you do!
Thanks for the tip, however, I'm pretty much done with the Over the Counter kind of stocks. Looking from something that can't be manipulated to such a great extent.
With oil going up, I purchased some PWI, it's a Canadian oil stock that pays monthly dividends and has been going up since I bought it. That in itself is quite novel.
Philo
Hey, I'm still waiting for my stock tip from him/her that will do so much better than e.Digital without any downside. I'm patiently waiting so I can put the proceeds from my sale of e.Digital into something "sure fire" that has the from Owd3
Owd, whatever.......I give up.......you're the best!
I plan on selling all of my shares and will take the proceeds and invest in......................hmmmmmmmmmmmm what should I invest in, I need your help, tell me a sure fire stock that will go up value. I'm waiting with baited breath!!!!!
You mean it is now brighter than when EDIG was going to control everything in the world that was digital? I mean at one point you thought EDIG was going to be in every MP3 player, cell phone, video game, set top box, PDA, digital camera, and automobile on the planet.
Well, my little friend, I didn't say that.
You know you are the most condescending poster I've ever come across. To each his own, whatever yours may be is beyond me.
Good luck and I hope you fill your quota on whatever it is you do.............
Lets talk about Sirrius Sat. Radio.........they've lost around $1 billion dollars, but seem to be getting their foothold in with XM radio. So, other companies do lose money don't they? And more than $70 million!!!
It takes time, granted this company has been at if for quite awhile, but even you must agree that the future looks a hell of a lot brighter now than in the past.
Anything is possible................isn't it?
While looking at the chart for e.Digital, I noticed that the 52 week low was $0.018. When did they reach that? I don't remember that day and I'm sure I would have if it did go that low..............
mark, mark the hairlip dog........
What happened 3 years ago that was unforeseen? I don't even remember what happened yesterday...........no wait that's Sabre's problem.
I guess in all honesty, and we know everyone here is honest, something may come out of this yet. What that would be is anyone's guess...........I'm opting for the optmistic route, but there are those that will opt for the pessimistic route as well.
Hell, what's a year or two more? I'm here for the ride as whatever happens happens...........
London, call the company and make your demands known. They kind of fall on deaf ears here.......................
