transam: You get my vote for best post of the day, even though trading has not yet begun.
A basic rule of investing: Know what you own.
BDB
"Not for very much longer." (Magenta to Riff Raff, in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show.")
Transam: Your interchange with Mr. Weiss is indeed signficant, and bodes well for everyone who seeks a greater distribution of Nicosan.
BDB
I just be chill'n FIAT. I added some today at .0161, and will add more if it dips tomorrow. I will either be way right or way wrong.
BDB
clrmng: Bring back the Toon Wars! eom
Alex: Good to hear from you! And your point is well taken.
BDB
Very interesting thought, BB. eom
No doubt, trazbull! (Please pass the single malt.)
Agreed transam. Uncertainty breeds fear, which can lead to panic.
BDB
mrcsn: In a far more articulate fashion, your post raises concerns that I share. I hope that Dr. Pandey will -- in some capacity -- continue his scientific work with Xkem International.
BDB
Fox: Hopefully the SWAT team is not already in transit. :]
Robopro: I think a couple, and a few more, may not be enough.
Do you know of a bar that serves martinis by the pitcher?
BDB
Given the recent management changes, the sparse PR that accompanied Doc's removal, the lack of any meaningful updates in four months, and the four weeks remaining until the 10Q, we have the perfect storm for the downward manipulation of XKEM's pps.
Depending upon one's view of the fundamentals of Xechem International, longs either have cause for serious drinking or a great buying opportunity.
BDB
Interesting thought, robopro. Dr. Pandey and Blech had a symbiotic relationship: Blech provided the $$ to enable Doc, his brother, and Becker to siphon off inflated salaries, and, in turn, Blech was given hundreds of millions of shares at sweetheart prices (thereby diluting the stock at the expense of the retail investor).
Doc is no longer in control, and the new BOD won't play Blech's game.
BDB
Excellent work, Raven. My imagination is spinning (and not from the glass of Merlot I am drinking). :]
Excellent post, light. Thanks. eom
Great post, BigD. Thanks for sharing, and have a good weekend. BDB
You're very welcome, Diamond Dog.
My intuition tells me that there will be an update via PR prior to the 10Q in August. If I were part of new management, I would really want to get that first update "right," even if it took a few more days to do so.
BDB
In the July 12 PR, Dr. Swift is quoted as stating: "We plan to have a shareholder meeting towards the end of the year to inform all shareholders of the progress we have made and what to expect in the future for Xechem."
I doubt that Dr. Swift intended to imply that there will be no updates from management until the end of the year, but his statement could be so construed. I think his choice of language was unfortunate.
Today's pps may reflect an assumption by some investors that there will be no additional substantive information from management prior to the 10Q for the second quarter, and, therefore, that there is no reason to hold XKEM until mid-August.
BDB
Good analysis, transam73wi. eom
Nice to have you on board the good ship XKEM, masontrend. Welcome!
If another shoe is getting ready to drop, I think it will be Steve Burg.
The good old days for Steve and the Doc have been and gone.
Dr. Pandey is a whiz on the science end, but he did precious little for the retail investor over the past year.
BDB
Rotweiler: I know that you enjoy good wines, and will look forward to sharing a toast at the party.
I agree that this is an exceptional day for XKEM investors, and, I believe, a turning point for Xechem International.
BDB
rotweiler: I think that tonight would be an appropriate time to open a bottle of the good stuff!
BDB
Notwithstanding his removal as CEO of Xechem International, Dr. Pandy will continue to serve as an important member of our local bowling team ("The Extreme Nicos").
Ms. Chassman, however, has been advised that she will no longer be needed.
BDB
That certainly did not hurt the cause, fox. :]
I view this change as very positive for the retail shareholders. Not only will Xechem have a more qualified CEO, but the inluence of Blech/Becker/Burg should be diminished going forward. This development may explain why Steve B. has not been too amiable recently.
I feel much better about my investment in XKEM today than I did yesterday.
BDB
As long as we are talking about "special" relationships with key Xechem officials, I should disclose that Dr. Pandey, Ms. Chassman and I are on the same bowling team.
We bowl every Wednesday night at the Starlight Lanes, have a few brews, and discuss insider information.
Sadly, we have not won a single match this year (Ms. Chassman -- aka "Gutterball Annie" -- consistently brings us down).
I'll see if I can learn some cool stuff tonight (I'm buying the beers), and report tomorrow to the board.
BDB
Agreed. eom
Raven: Good post, and I agree with everything that you say. My concern is how big the pie slice to be alloted to the retail shareholders will be. At best, I can only characterize management's treatment of SH's to date as "benign neglect." I certainly do not assume that Dr. Pandey or the Nigerian government will be looking out for our investment.
BDB
Geo:
I too would like to attend.
Having practiced law for 32 years, I am comfortable with raising some hell.
BDB
Regarding Steve Burg: I believe that drifter is truthfully and accurately reporting what Burg told him. And I believe that the other posters are correctly reporting what Burg told them. The discrepancies result from Burg changing his tune.
The guy is obviously under pressure, which may turn out to be a good thing for us.
Man, I would love to know what is really going on.
Onward to my third Tecate of the evening.
BDB
Steve B. may be a victim of the Pandy/Basu steel cage match. eom
I wonder to what extent Steve B. is even authorized to speak on behalf of Xechem at the present time. He may have been instructed by the BOD to say nothing of substance, because IR is being restructured.
In any event, Steve's telephone statements today indicate to me that, in the words of Bob Dylan, "a hard rain's gonna fall."
BDB
Historically, old management has shown little concern for supporting the pps through timely PR's. If the Pandey/Basu steel cage match is underway, an update to investors is probably the last item on Doc's agenda.
Knowledgeable investors know that the new facility won't be completed before the 4th quarter of 2007.
Given all of this, I think that investing in XKEM may indeed be regarded by new investors as "dead money" until the 4th quarter (at the earliest).
To me, the lack of buying interest is not at all surprising.
BDB
LOCHUTE: I think you may have hit the nail on the head: Burg may not be a happy camper because his role/compensation is being reduced due to the shift of power to the Basu group.
Tha might be bad for Steve, but good for retail investors.
BDB
drifter:
Given management's track record so far, I wonder if the next public communication of any significance will be the 10Q in August?
Also wonder whether the lack of PR's is at least partly due to an ongoing power struggle between Dr. Pandey and the Basu group.
Is the other shoe ready to drop?
BDB
mpd68: Agreed on all points. From the inception of Xechem, Dr. Pandey has exercised total corporate control, but that may no longer be true. It may be difficult for him to accept sharing power with others. However, for Xechem to move forward as a corporation -- and for Nicosan to reach its greatest production and distribution to those who need it -- Dr. Pandey must recognize that the business decisions must now be shared with others who are more able. Hopefully, Dr. Pandey will accept this reality, and focus on the science.
BDB
mpd68: Steve Burg also told me that a presciption is required for Nicosan.
When NAFDAC approves Phase III, it would be awfully hard for Akinyanju to NOT support Nicosan!
