Magnes seems a but stubborn about sticking with current exchanges but maybe e'll change mind, would make a big difference.
I may join you. And on a day when other 3ds actually up...our day will come.
Whatever the story tomorrow it does seem that sooner or later all the articles we are reading about places using ebm and looking to get more are going to build up some great growth. And it's nice diversity of customers with potential to grow it seems.
Exactly. Even if this is major because of a relationship being built there or other reasons, if they are being consistent, it seems to imply there have not been other sales of this significance this quarter since they haven't announced them. Hopefully the smaller sales will add up at least. And looking forward it sure does seem that production is gearing up for a big move in the next couple years if not sooner. A lot of good pieces of news have been confirming our hopes for industry adoption it would seem.
Has anyone been keeping a list of planned usages of ebm from recent news tidbits?
"Good news" not "good need", sorry auto type....
On the one hand this is good need. On the other hand it seems to indicate they haven't received other orders they think are this important this quarter since they shared this news and said they would only share big ones. Thoughts?
Wow, some awesome stuff in there we didn't know!
Not as large a percentage now.

Weird. I am excited they will have a Boston office.
Lol. If only arcam was that responsive to our posts...
A big confusing mess but sounds good! Interesting putting in two powder atomizers in house.
Yeah weird, probably just bad coordination and website upkeep. I did find this success factor under vision: "Continue to improve our technology and productivity and add equipments to support fast growing demand. For instance, capacity is to increase by approximately 60% in 2014." They achieved their success factor. I remember Jacque saying they'd add reactors as needed for capacity at the Disanto opening, glad it happened.

I have a friend who worked for a company making things like this. Apparently they are used in the army where it's an attachment that goes on the leg to give you added energy for running/walking. Futuristic indeed
Arcam wins aerospace order
19 February 2015
Arcam has received an order for one of its Arcam Q20 system from LAI International in Phoenix. The system will be used for production of aerospace components.
LAI International is a leading contract manufacturer of precision-engineered finished parts, components and subassemblies for aerospace, power generation, defense, medical, electronics and other advanced technology industries.
‘With increased demand for advanced manufacturing solutions, we believe investing in the latest EBM technology will give LAI an edge in the aerospace industry,’ said Mike Koesling, LAI International Vice President of Engineering. ‘Arcam is the leading supplier of titanium additive manufacturing systems and we turned to them with confidence.’
‘This deal confirms the potential for our EBM technology within the aerospace industry. We look forward to working closely with LAI International to further grow their activities in this innovative, demanding industry,’ says Magnus René, CEO of Arcam.
Wow
Yes interesting, it was at investors day they said Europe is moving away from peek, I think a health concern.
One answer regarding powder profits - I asked Magnus about it when the article you probably referenced came out. Here was the email exchange:

Ämne: Question regarding metal powder future
Dear Magnus,
I have invested in Arcam the last couple of years and admire your leadership.
Today an article questioned the long term profitability of the metal powder aspect of your business due to GE and others potentially sourcing from elsewhere in the future. I would love to hear if you think the analysis is correct or not.
The article is here is you would like to see: http://www.dailyfinance.com/2014/06/30/what-3-d-printing-companies-dont-want-you-to-know/
Best regards,
Aaron Fine
Aaron,
Sorry, this ended up in the bottom of the mail box.
Anyway, I assume you refer to the part of the text I copied in below.
Then, I would like to explain on powders;
1) We do not operate a razor – razorblade business. We sell powders but with rather
limited mark up. This actually differentiates us from for example 3DS and EOS who
both take significant part of the profits from materials.
We provide the materials more as a service.
2) The reason we acquired APC was that we want to secure availability of high quality
powder at reasonable cost. We see this as key to grow our machine business.
3) We also believe, as the article says, that with higher volumes more material
will be sourced from third parties.
Hope this helps
Best regards
Magnus

For instance, instead of buying metal powder from metal 3-D printing companies at a substantial markup, General Electric goes direct to the mills that supply the industry with the material. This approach effectively breaks the razor-and-blade model that 3D Systems and Arcam have built around their metal 3-D printing businesses and could set a precedent for other industrial 3-D printing customers to follow. Those recurring revenue streams that are generated from consuming materials could become threatened over the long term as the industry continues growing and material costs become a greater focus.
I am thinking I need to stop caring about the short term price as much, stop thinking add or reduce, and remember I am long, come back in 2 years:)
Yes, said so at investor day
I had the same thought. Plausible
I don't get it either. End of year taking tax losses part of it? Part of me wants to add big and lower cost basis but it's nerve wracking.
What do people make of the fact the stock can't hold ground even after such a great couple weeks?
Very nice quotes. He is getting a little more emboldened in his language.
Interesting in that other article there was a 6 machine order in the past.
Does seem stuck where it is until bulk order despite almost entirely good news. That being the case I think perhaps energy is building up for an extra big pop when volume eventually arrives.
Regarding press, a few years ago when I started following arcam there was literally virtually no press. So from that perspective we have come a long long way.
Good point. True.
Hopefully. But the market didn't really do anything when we learned fastebm was a success and 10kw was in the pipeline.
Cool
Yes looks like 10kw on the way, awesome
Awesome. I actually know a guy who used to be high up there. Good sign if they are taking a big bet on it
I agree. One really interesting thing Rob of Disanto said in small conversation at the investors day was that some big companies have challenges to commit money for buying machines but will easily commit much more money than the machines would cost buying parts made from those machines at Disanto, simply because of the bureacracy around budget lines
Thanks, I think you are right, a good reminder about timeline
Hi All,
Trying to make sense of the recent price action I resorted to looking at yahoo. Amidst the rubbish there were a couple interesting takes, pasted below. Would be interested in further thoughts/opinions.
1) "It's really tough to see Acram give back all of it's recent gains... in spite of the great ER and potentially another great 4Q, the stock is still richly valued... The other head wind for USD investors is the strong USD... at the exchange rate that was prevalent last year the price today would be USD 23 vs USD 20 at today's FX rate... another way to look at it is the recent high of 26 is equivalent to 30 at last years FX rate... We are also not immune to the success of the wider sector which has not be very rosy lately...
Still Acram should flourish as a company but the Stock may struggle... When you see a large investor willing to liquidate at a big discount to these already depressed levels (regardless of their motivations) that does not bode well for the stock and was very disappointing...
We should see a nice bounce if they announce the illusive "Bulk" order... but from what level is another question..."
2)
"I've heard the entire 3D group described as a "tweener". That is, they are no longer the momentum play & momentum buyers have vacated the space, and 3D has not yet achieved a mainstream status, so mainstream players aren't yet on board. Arcam may be too small to lead the group to respectability, but is a well-run company with a strong sustainable competitive advantage -- they're likely to succeed as early and longer than anyone in the group. As I've said before, I love the company but am only moderately bullish on the stock. "
Is it just me or does this stock generally go down the day an order is announced. Seems to also go up the day before although I haven't documented it
Yeah, we are in the right time and place. The best comes to those who wait
Yes I can see what you are saying. The good news is that even if he was saying that the volume orders won't be until 2015, it doesn't matter in the big picture. We are all just anxious for it to happen, but ultimately if it's dec. or march whatever, as long as it's happening.
The 3d market question is more concerning to me, but not that much
Hmm, not sure. I recorded parts will listen and see if I have that part. Didn't mention the blades or GE except when mentioning clients as in the slide
It was 100% he said they already are clients before he said he couldn't say that
Yes Rob said he wouldn't give a timeline but it won't be long with a sense of confidence. By the way right now 3 are in the new space and the 4th is inside the main other machine space. They said it was for secrecy or something for one company not to know what another was working on or something like that. Doesn't really make sense maybe I misheard. The machines or at least some of them have only been there 3 weeks.
