Digital Ally Inc. hopes to ride a large order from the Kansas City Transportation Group to even more business from the transportation company's affiliates nationwide.
Lenexa-based Digital Ally announced Monday the sale of 100 DVM-250 video event recorders — priced at $995 each on its website — to the Kansas City Transportation Group. The company, which manages about 400 vehicles in the Kansas City metro area, plans to buy an additional 240 of the camera units during the next 12 months, KCTG CEO Bill George said Wednesday.
"Digital Ally has been a good partner, and we're looking forward to a long-term relationship," George said. "We got what we think is a really good product."

KCTG is part of Veolia Transportation Inc., the largest non-governmental provider of transit services in North America with an annual revenue nearing $1 billion.
"We view this initial 100-unit order as a 'first step' in an expanding relationship with a regional leader in public and private transportation," Stanton Ross, CEO of Digital Ally, said in a release, adding that installation should be completed by Jan. 1. "Longer-term, we hope to expand our relationship to include Veolia Transportation affiliates in other North American cities. We currently have pilot programs under way in four U.S. cities for other Veolia divisions that involve fleets totaling well over 1,500 vehicles."
Digital Ally develops and manufactures advanced technology products for law enforcement, homeland security and other commercial applications.
The first, 100-product contract will allow the KCTG to place cameras in vehicles for its Share-A-Fare, ADA-compliant transportation program. The second contract, which has not been finalized, would place cameras in a variety of the company's taxis.
