Sorry cannot help you there....
No noted Fe ore
No noted Cu ore
No noted gold ore
So there is no deposit of any type; as per public information on RR....
I have already commented on all of these things....
Mappo,
It did not take that long for the Earth to form, but the Earth is approximately 4.6 Ga, give or take a few 100 million years. While a large part of our planet has been reformed, remolded, etc, there are large areas that have been relatively stable for billions of years (such as the Canadian Shield), which are known as cratons in geo-speak.
Newfoundland has a very interesting geologic history and records the opening and closing of an ocean basin (Wilson Cycle). And RR is close to one of these sutures between continental and ocean crust, which makes it interesting for mineral exploration. That is the first step in an exploration program, select a potential area that COULD play host to mineralization.
The RR program targeted two anomalies. Everyone that has been here for > 6 months knows that and there is great DD in the notes section. Any preliminary drilling program needs to find something to allow for any addition exploration work. KATX went with two holes. Something from those two holes needs to offer some evidence to make the case to put more money into it. The level of evidence will be different from the geologists, management, and financers, which is a function of risk.
The public information available does not give us, the common investors, the information necessary to make that decision. I have said it before and I will say it again; the upper portion of hole #2 was encouraging and the description of the remaining drill core was encouraging. Only those that have the remaining assay data can tell us if we have the data to continue. Obviously I am hoping for the best, but like many here I am a little troubled on the delay. Hopefully it is due to working deal with a major, but it is all speculation at this point.
So really, while I agree that 2 holes is not much to go off. KATX made the decision to drill only two holes, so any follow on work WILL be decided on these two holes. That is the reality for RR at this moment IMO.
I have no problem on how KATX designed their program. I think they got the most bang for the buck.
Everything of course is my own opinion; whether I am a geologist or not. Whether I am a cartoon character or not. Make your own decisions as I make no recommendations.
Obviously your goal is to copy/paste the same stuff until people start to believe it...
And if you are looking for basalts... the Hawaiian islands must be one BIG OD deposit! All the ocean floor too....
Seems like OD is rising from the ashes to make a new copy/paste return.
Of course I don't blame them as without any news you need to throw something out there. Hopefully the silence will be broken soon so that we have real news to talk about....
I like the UP direction... nuff said!
Whooooaaaaa there tiger....
A move in the right direction, but we still need another 20+% to get back to 0.02 level. A level most thought would never be broken.
We still need to get out of the inner core... through the outer core.... a long way through the mantle, followed by a thin crust before we even get to the Earth's surface... The Earth's surface being an individuals break even point.
Obviously this is different for everyone...
But statements like "to the moon".... are premature...
Now did I sign in as Gump or Geo_newfie... I can't remember??
Yes... and I am a few people were influenced By (the) Money Bug too.
Good to see and rise in the PPS, but let us get above 0.02 before we get too excited. Remember many thought that 0.02 would never be broken and we need to have a 100% gain from today's low to get back to that "support" level again....
Oil exploration is completely different... your own link outlines their limits related to base metals.
If believing in this technique helps you sleep at night then go right ahead.
From the U of T link you provided:
<For the borehole-to-borehole application, we have successfully mapped conductive zones between boreholes up to 350m apart.>
From the maps it appears that the two drill holes are 1.4 kms or 1,400 m apart. Four times their number.
And they focused on shallow targets.
I don't think it is ready for prime time just yet.
Sorry... I do not follow your logic on this. Does not sound like a reasonable may to run an early stage exploration program.
Don't get me wrong. I am all for using whatever tool available to get the job done. I have used seismic refraction/reflection, electrical resisitivity, time-domain electromagnetic surveys, and even hyperspectral work. You use everything at your disposal.
But I just do not follow your logic here.

Whoaaaaa hold the phone! So it is your opinion that they wanted to drill barren rock? <look at the the DD no one expected to drill in to the copper ore...IMO>
You cannot be serious?! They targeted two separate anomalies to get the most bang for their buck. Any future work would/should follow on from the results from these two holes..... so if both were barren, then that is that... they do not have deep enough pockets to continue drilling like at the original OD deposits; has as been quoted over and over again here.
And your remote sensing posts... downhole seismic work has been used for a long time and while this method may hold some merit it might take a while to get it main stream. In addition, what we do not know, at least from the links you have provided are the following:
1. What is the distance between boreholes this has been used on?
2. What effect does elevation changes have on this work?
3. How does rapidly changing lithology effect this technique (i.e., the public information available from RR has vastly different lithology)
4. How does structure complexity factor in?
For me there are more questions than answers for this technique, particularly for using it on RR. Voisey's bay has a lot of drill holes that are closely spaced to test this method. As they get better and refine the technique I could see it being used in other environments. Presently, I think it is a stretch to think that it has/will be used on RR.

Well hopefully history, in this case, does repeat. In any case, I raise a glass of Irish brew and toast to your bold move! Cheers!
You are crazy.... but I definitely wish you all the luck! ;^)
Sad???? These are just more "cheapies" for the uber-longs!
They will soon have the float locked up at the rate they are buying.....
Bio - please advise when you are going to buy in the future... thx! ;^)
Colleague of mine is in Afghanistan too. He was just next door to the bombing a month or so ago!
Your basic problem (and that is a pun...) is that the moon is not felsic! Make no wonder KATX cannot get there!

Although it does say "Saint Johns"... Speeling out St. refers to Saint John, NB...
I appreciate your confidence; from a cartoon figure. ;)
We are all frustrated to some degree. Some like to vent in one way or another and from both sides of the fence. I am just going to sit in the back of the bus and wait for some info.
Cheers!
Eagle - Agreed 1000% on your assessment in your PM!
B402 - I have watched the "debate" over previous drilling at HC. And for what it is worth I agree that those 9 or so drill holes completed by Falconbridge are on the present HC property. I also believe that most, if not all, of the other work was completed outside the present HC area. Irrespective of the physical description in the report (some people do not even know their compass directions), the located drill collars on NLs own site puts them on KATX HC property. However, looking at the information a little closer, it does appear that the previous work was completed along the same strike, but parallel to KATXs drilling. In other words, Falconbridge appears to have NOT drilled the geophysical anomaly. Therefore, I am of the impression that the KATX work was in a new area.
In any case, what has been lost during this debate was this paragraph from the 25 August PR:
"Trenching completed at four locations north and south of the Main Hand Camp prospect exposed disseminated sulphide mineralization in altered volcanic rock that contains anomalous gold, silver, lead and zinc concentrations over an approximate strike length of 600 m and over widths of up to 20 m in trenched rock exposures."
From offline conversations with various sources, the northern prospect was considered a completely "NEW" area.
That is my 2-cents on the subject, I will not debate it any further. I will now return to my cave and wait for a geo-related PR. You may return to your regularly scheduled programing...

"naked newfie shorters..."
If they have short(ers) are they naked?
Really.. this is a ridiculous statement...
So explain to me how this filing illustrates they are working with Vale?
And yes.... the posse has noted several times how big Vale is... so yes they (Vale) could do all their work without any support and/or input from KATX. Historic work is available to everyone and they know their own property that surrounds this area, which the posse points out time and again.
Does that mean that KATX does not talk to Vale... probably not. But having a coffee and donut at Tim Horton's doesn't mean they have a partnership.
The 20K gives Vale the right to explore as they see fit.
But again... you and your crew can call it a partnership if you want. For me, until it is documented that they are splitting expenses I will call it as I see it... an option agreement.
Ahhh ya got me... geesh I so sorry for doubting anyone about their partnership...
Oh wait... why would KATX need to be represented? It is on Vale's dime is it not? I am sure as a courtsey Vale would tell them what their schedule would be and even invite them out.
If a KATX geos tells tells them they are drilling in the wrong spot... does Vale have to abey them.... no. It is their dime...
But if you want to call it a partnership be my guest....
Per the PR on the option agreement:
"Under the terms of the agreement VEC has committed to an initial C$20,000 cash payment on signing and may elect to make further cash payments totaling C$75,000 over the three-year option period, and may elect to incur a minimum of C$750,000 in exploration expenditures within the option period to earn an 80% interest in the Lucky properties.
Upon VEC’s exercise of the option, a joint venture will be formed to further develop the properties, with each party contributing to further approved exploration programs as per their interest. VEC will be the operator of the exploration programs during the option period."
So how I read it, Vale will be doing all the work (i.e., not working toegther). Doesn't sound like a partnership to me. If the option is exercised, then both parties will work on future exploration programs; that sounds more like a partnership.
I wonder if you asked any Vale employees if KATX was a partner with Vale what their response would be???
Every hear of the term cut-off grades?
Do you think that the Vale Inco plant can process everything? (and this has been known since 2005).
Answer some of these questions and you might find some truth...
Abe,
Drilling deep or shallow has nothing to do with conviction and/or willingness. It has everything to do with the target you are looking for and the observations from the ongoing drilling program. We all know that KATX did not drill the footage they initially stated and that was probably due to the information collected during the actual drilling. And that was smart - why waste money drilling barren rock.
The other company probably only drilled shallow because that was their target, so they too went the distance required for their property. Once they intersected and punched through the targeted facies they then smartly stopped and moved to another location to get more information, etc, etc. From this information they can then move toward a resource estimate.
The targeted depths between the two companies were obviously different, but you were the one to point out how they presented their data. I just wanted everyone to realize why this difference was there.
For large drilling programs with noted mineralization, companies typically focus on their best intervals. At present, KATX only has one interval. In essence I agree with you; once KATX releases the remaining assay results, then we compare their results to other companies actively working on REEs.

Not to be a stick in the mud... but KATXs weighted average is only over 7.5 meters where as the best results from the other example was over 80 meters.
But nice observation on the timing of their release wrt their drilling program...
And you as well...
Homevendor - we are on the same team (you may not think so), just that we are doing it in different ways...
Popunjay,
I agree with your DD on location.
However, let us not overlook that Falconbridge did not drill the geophysical feature that KATX/KATG did. Both programs targeted some linear SW-NE feature, but they are not overlapping; per your map below.
So while this argument continues... I say "so what". Falconbridge did not drill within the geophysical target so their recommendations do not really matter; of course IMO.
BigOwl,
Not sure if either side is going to be satisfied with the outcome here tonight.
Not sure about the you claim question.
The proof that the Falco drill cores in the cite report are within the current KATX claims are the NL website. If you make the drill core the active layer and use the info (i) tool you will see that the drill cores have the exact same ids as in the report. To me this is proof enough.
The only way this would be wrong is if they are not put on the map correctly.
As long as you don't confuse west with north....
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=60122324
Looks more NNW to me... love the area. Use to go fishing in the back country up that way.
And the TCH doesn't even go through Badger.
But what is 45-75 degrees between friends.
Homevendor,
I think I may have to side with Popunjay here. The data on the NL site clearly shows the drill hole data within the current claims.
And while the report clearly states 20 km west of Badger... it also states along the Trans Canada Highway and the TCH does NOT go west out of Badger, it goes north. I am thinking that they made a mistake from converting miles to kms. 20 miles is 32 kms. Back in the late 70s the old timers still worked in miles and they probably just forgot to convert it for the report. Seems reasonable, particularly as they had the direction wrong too!?
I just have to add my two cents worth... maybe it is only worth 1.5 cents??
So the question is whether the Falconbridge report references a different location for HC or it is the same place?
One side has posted maps,etc.
And the other has referenced reported mileage.
In addition, the side advocating a different location posts a link as well as copies of an email from Ken and a report stating 2.27 metric tons of ore, etc.
Let's examine this a little closer. In Ken's email he writes "In the late 90’s a couple of prospectors discovers this tremendous gold zone way to the North of what was called the Handcamp property and they called this gold discovery (wouldn’t you know) the Handcamp property."
So this is the apparent HC that KATX/KATG has drilled.
Now... the report of 2.27 metric tons, which is pushed here too references these documents:
"Energy, Mines, and Resources, Canada, 1989
Canadian Mineral Deposits Not Being Mined in 1989
Mineral Resources Bulletin , Energy, Mines and Resources Canada, Publication code MR2-223, 400 p. "
Yet the first two have dates of 1989, which I believe are BEFORE the late 90s.... so if I follow the logic here. The group that states the real HC was discovered in the late 90s but is using data before then to illustrate the amount of potential resources???
Is this right... if so the logic baffles me! Can someone please clear this up because it is giving me a headache...
Don't know if this has been posted before...
http://www.nr.gov.nl.ca/nr/mines/investments/REE-RM-Poster-Roundup11__web.pdf
Ken's Mtn is highlighted as selected minor occurrence and is within the noted "Mid-Paleozoic alkaline to peralkaline igneous suite".
Also this:
http://www.nr.gov.nl.ca/nr/mines/exploration/explorationactivity/Exploration%20Highlights%202010%20for%20web.pdf
Obviously the REE work at RR or at Cache is not included. Note that the one REE analyses availabel from Rare Earth Metals, Inc had 1.68% TREO, but the HREO/TREO was low at only 8.33%.
Mods,
I guess insulting a group of people is considered ok for this message board as these messages have been "undeleted", but a reply to an insult is a TOS?
Good luck to all.... I will not take part in a MB that has such rules/restrictions.
And PT... not that sincere when you do it again....
Presently granites have not been described, but here is where your interpretation fails because you are too focused on THE OD-type deposit.
RR has volcanics, both mafic and felsic have been described. Now here is the kicker... the volcanics and its plumbing system (which is intrusive) have an associated fluid(s) system, which would be the principal source for mineralization. Of course we need the right fluid composition, as well as temperature in order to find any possible ore (i.e., fluids enrichment).
So while you are correct in that a granite has not be described, it does not necessary mean that the fluids were not present because the volcanics are there. All volcanic systems have an intrusive phase since you cannot have volcanic activity without magma moving through the crust. And with volcanics you have fluids.

Oh great... bring me back into 'their' gunsights. And I have been so good, even had a post deleted today...
Alright fine... exploration is a tough business and the odds are most certainly stacked against any drilling program, whether it is a major or junior. Working in known mining camps helps the odds, but they are still against you. Working on a previous producing area and still the odds are stacked against you. Being in the Arctic, praires, Russia, Central America, or Newfoundland... does not increase the odds. I will not go out on a limb and quote a number, but just look at all the explorers out there and you will get a sense of their odds.
People think that just because NL is under-explored it has a higher chance of mineralization... I don't believe that. Certainly if something is found it would be a NEW discovery, but how many holes were punched in the ground to find it??
What does KATX have going for them:
1. Numerous properties with previously noted mineralization.
2. Experienced geologist that have been educated on the island, so they are familiar with the geology and deposit types.
3. An experienced prospector that has worked these areas and has had some success in the past.
4. The right geologic environment (i.e., you would not drill for oil in the Canadian Shield, nor look for diamonds in NL).
And every company needs this..... LUCK!
This is the reality of exploration. You can have all the right people, etc, but if the mineralization is not there it doesn't matter. It is a stepwise approach and KATX is working through the steps. If the property holds no promise... move on... if it does, continue working on it.
I invested here because of the four listed items above. The business side of things is a different story. How they get their $$??? Not my area. Shorting... bashing... pumping... all due to greed. Heck I want to make some money here... so I am guilty too. I have been accussed of trying to get "cheapies"... being unethical... those "people" have their own issues. And I have no interesting in trying to change their opinion of me.
People have their ideas on why the PPS drop... what is happening behind the scenes... angry investors that sold... angry investors that still hold... all murky! KATX cannot change the results, but they can give some direction.
I'm rambling now and probably stop making sense a few paragraphs ago.
