"So if shares were restricted, how are the shorts able to do this?"
They may have asked related friends to sell some of their long position at market in the last minutes.
ANY ticker is flagged with an R on my trading platform: meaning there is a short sale restriction today due to the intraday drop >10% yesterday.
Thanks for that correction!
GW doesnt require modification of a source code
blueblizzy, thanks for further sharing your DD. Your post 16034 received no answer although it was one of the best and most important for today, comparing Docker with Glassware and clearly showing the strengths and efficiency of Glassware.
If you don't mind, can we conclude from your post:
Opposite to Docker, for an enterprise IT department, Glassware is quite straightforward to use, you just need to install Glassware and your legacy apps can be containerized without the need of modifying a source code that you might not have access to.
= simplexity!
Enterprises face a big challenge integrating Docker into heterogeneous workloads that include older legacy apps with different architecture as compared to apps from a typical application stack
Glassware addresses this.
For "heterogenous workloads" (correct me if I'm wrong) I think it means the ability to scale out and cluster the app container technology. So with Glassware, that would be adding Glassware appliances to a cluster of other appliances.
Good approach, there are other brokerages ready to service..
I agree, too many emotions here...and than I saw rumors about Sheldon that are totally unsubstantiated.
"Know what you hold"
Well, FYI, I didn't look for the whole day, just checked after the day and noticed...and my question is more how can someone technically trade this small lots of shares or is this just the MM playing around?
Talking about ridiculous trades, I just noted that in the last 30 min there were 35 trades of <100 shares and only 6 of >100 shares. Are we soon going to see trades of 0.001 shares??? Anyone cares to explain?
blueblizzy, thanks for putting this straight!
You explained this very well and nicely documented...super!
The article itself wasn't negative, just slightly ambiguous in the way how it's written, quite typical for Chris Mellor. Given that the author has expressed some doubts about S3D, OVRL and the merger in the past we cannot expect him to make a 180 degrees turn in an eyeblink. The shorts that were encouraged by CM previous tone may interpret it differently and will be the first ones to mock...
After all, who cares about those shorts' comments?
Essential for us is to see that in 2013-2014 there was a 42% growth in shipments of the RDX products generating revenue of about $35 M and you can bet that this growth will be sustained or even be bigger:
a) transfer rates increased from 650 GB/h or 10.8 GB/min to 936 GB/h or 15.6 GB/min
b) future expansion to capacities > 2TB enabled by Sphere 3D's breakthrough RDX+ technology
c) improved data portability and encrypted data security
I have to thank Giovanni for his message...should I encourage him?...looking to the valuable benefit that it lead to a real interesting answer from Justfactsmam who's reconnaissance thrives on information from those very sales man Giovanni pointed to.

Glad to read our main shareholder added shares on the open market!
Finally, nearly one month after confirmation of delisting on the TSX-V my Canadian shares were swapped for Nasdaq traded ones on 1 specific account.
I immediately have put a GTC sell order but the broker didn't allow me to work with lot sizes as you were able to do with KGB Scottrade...I had to work with multiple small lots. Anybody else encountered this problem?
Thanks itsokey, great news!

where you learn about the growth of the RDX market and the size
From OVRL filings you can figure out that in 2014 the RDX revenue was about $35 million and now that S3D has upgraded the RDX package I would expect a continuous growth of +- 50% for RDX + sales of V3 technology and GW
Only the extra RDX revenue for 2015 could easily be $20 Million and then you can add the other extras
Nice to see they bring out this news now and how they mention the recent deal between ATOS and Xerox
Sphere 3D Announces Strategic Alliance With Atos to Provide Virtualization Solutions
SAN JOSE, CA and MISSISSAUGA, ON--(Marketwired - Jan 5, 2015) - Sphere 3D Corporation (NASDAQ: ANY), a virtualization technology and data management solutions provider, today announced a strategic alliance with Atos SE (Societas Europaea), an international leader in digital services, to deliver Sphere 3D's next generation software-defined virtualization solutions to Atos' customers. Through the strategic alignment between Sphere 3D and Atos, Sphere 3D's V3 series of hyper-converged virtual desktop appliances and Glassware 2.0® application virtualization platform will be added to expand the Atos technology products portfolio. Additionally, the companies will collaborate to develop a joint sales, marketing and delivery strategy.
Sphere 3D's V3 desktop cloud computing architecture provides a turn-key appliance solution that eliminates the performance issues, installation challenges and unpredictable scalability associated with traditional VDI. The V3 offering will include a proprietary cloud services portal that automatically provisions and delivers virtual desktops and applications, thus simplifying the desktop-as-a-service delivery model. Sphere 3D's Glassware 2.0 is uniquely positioned to address the increasing demand for a hyper-converged solution that virtualizes the most demanding modern and legacy applications.
Atos is a recognized global leader for delivering innovative cloud and virtualization solutions and the selection of Sphere 3D's V3 and Glassware virtualization products offers new solutions to address the needs of Atos' enterprise customers. This alliance strengthens Sphere 3D's presence and broadens its cloud services deployments through Atos as Sphere 3D continues its global rollout plan to deliver integrated and converged VDI offerings with increased performance, simplicity, security and mobility.
This alliance with Sphere 3D follows Atos' recently announced intention to acquire Xerox's Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO) business and to become a primary IT services provider for Xerox. That transaction would enable new levels of collaboration in client situations and innovative solutions leveraging Atos' world-class ITO capabilities and highlighting Xerox's BPO and document outsourcing expertise.
Remember when that deal between ATOS and Xerox was announced:
Atos would acquire Xerox’s ITO business to nearly triple its size in the U.S., which would represent its largest operating geography; Atos would become one of Xerox’s primary IT services providers
So I guess the S3D news from is will get quite a bit of attention from serious retail investors or institutional investors.
ACQUISITIONS FOR MAJOR CLOUD PROVIDERS IN 2014

A few sources, the R flag came up on the E-signal Livecharts
LiveCharts - Special Trade Conditions
The following special conditions will appear as text next to a symbol in the Watch List window whenever these conditions occur:
Text Flag Description
R Special short sale restrictions. More on Restricted symbols below.
H Trading has been halted on this issue
X Symbol has gone X-Dividend
F Fast Market Indicator (For selected Futures markets)
What does the "R" next to NASDAQ symbols represent?
In LiveCharts, the red "R" indicates that there is a “short sale restriction” in place for the stock. Currently the red "R" designation is only displayed for NASDAQ listed issues. Short sale restrictions apply to NYSE, AMEX, and ARCX symbols as well.
How long will the "R" stay on the Watch List window?
The Exchanges in cooperation with the National Securities Clearing Corporation, publishes a daily list of restricted securities:
NASDAQ
AMEX
NYSE
What is Regulation SHO?
Regulation SHO provides a regulatory framework governing short selling of securities. Regulation SHO is designed, in part, to fulfill several objectives, including (1) establish uniform locate and delivery requirements in order to address problems associated with failures to deliver, including potentially abusive “naked” short selling (i.e., selling short without having borrowed the securities to make delivery); (2) create uniform marking requirements for sales of all equity securities; and (3) establish a procedure to temporarily suspend Commission and SRO short sale price tests in order to evaluate the overall effectiveness and necessity of such restrictions.
What securities qualify for this short sale restriction?
There are 2 methods for determining what symbols qualify for this short sale restriction.
Method 1 is an amendment (Rule 201 - AKA the alternative uptick rule) that introduces a circuit breaker rule that goes into effect when the trading center declares that a stock has decreased 10% or more from the prior day’s closing price. (which was the case on Dec 31)
Method 2 is defined in Rule 203(c)(6) of Regulation SHO - A "threshold security" is any equity security of any issuer that is registered under Section 12 of the Exchange Act or that is required to file reports under Section 15(d) of the Exchange Act (commonly referred to as reporting securities), where, for five consecutive settlement days:
There are aggregate fails to deliver at a registered clearing agency of 10,000 shares or more per security;
The level of fails is equal to at least one-half of one percent of the issuer’s total shares outstanding; and
The security is included on a list published by a self-regulatory organization (SRO).
A security ceases to be a threshold security if it does not exceed the specified level of fails for five consecutive settlement days.

As per post 15490...there was an R flag next to the ticker today meaning "short sale restricted" and that could be why the regular EOD action wasn't there.
ANYway those games will not last too long ANYmore.
Fantastic, very beautiful! Thanks for sharing Cabel.
Thanks farrell90 for sharing this!
Merry Christmas to all of you!
Alea iacta est! ANY has crossed the Rubicon!
IMHO this is fantastic news that preceeds more fantastic news...
This is not only more recognition/validation for S3D's Glassware technology and solutions but over more leads to wide open doors to all Microsoft customers. Without any question, for bigger commercial deals involving GW, the customers will appreciate the 100% backing and official endorsement by Microsoft!
Derek, I believe Mac has proven to have more than enough tech knowledge to understand what it's all about.
Obviously, for all posts here on this MB it's all about "interpretation, perception and formulation" and choosing between the honest or disingenuous path.

Justfactsmam, very nice post, as always, I admire how you share your knowledge!
(and your patience...)
Giovanni,
Atos to become one of Xerox's primary IT services providers
And consequently this must lead to some more business opportunities for S3D as cooperation partner!
Interesting hereby to note is that ATOS will triple its size in the US and drastically increases its international presence!
Atos to Acquire Xerox’s Information Technology Outsourcing Business
Some extracts of that PR:
Atos would acquire Xerox’s ITO business to nearly triple its size in the U.S., which would represent its largest operating geography; Atos would become one of Xerox’s primary IT services providers
Additionally, this transaction will enable new levels of collaboration in client situations and innovative solutions leveraging Atos’ world-class ITO capabilities
As part of this transaction, Atos will add Xerox’s blue-chip ITO clients to its portfolio in order to accompany them on their digital journey. With estimated 2014 revenue of $1.5 billion, Xerox’s ITO business employs approximately 9,800 ITO employees in 45 countries, with 4,500 in the U.S. and more than 3,800 in global delivery countries such as India, the Philippines and Mexico.
The Xerox ITO leadership team will also join Atos. Xerox’s existing ITO clients will gain access to Atos’ global IT services capabilities and a broad range of cutting-edge services.
Also under the terms of this transaction, Atos will provide IT services to Xerox.
Atos and Xerox have established a working relationship spanning several years. For example, Atos has relied on Xerox for managed print, human resource and financial services. Xerox currently uses Atos for ITO work in Europe.
“Atos is a company with whom we’ve had a long relationship in several capacities. Selling the ITO business to Atos gives our clients around the globe an expanded, world-class suite of IT capabilities that complement Xerox’s industry leading BPO and document outsourcing solutions,” said Ursula Burns, Xerox’s chairman and CEO. “This transaction is another step in our ongoing portfolio management strategy and increases our focus on those areas where we can deliver the most value and expertise to our clients.”
Acquiring Xerox’s ITO business provides Atos with a broader geographic footprint and the ability to support the needs of its European and U.S. clients anywhere in the world. This adds breadth to its already deep services portfolio and leading technologies, particularly in Cloud, Big Data, Cyber-security, and in High Power Computing.
Thierry Breton, Chairman and CEO of Atos, said: “Increasing our position in the U.S. is a major step in the completion of our three year strategic plan and responds to a strong demand from our global customers. This transaction will allow us to strengthen our footprint in the U.S. market which is an early adopter of high growth innovative technologies and to access a pool of talented and highly skilled technologists. At Atos we are all excited to welcome soon our 9,800 new colleagues who will be part of a leader fully dedicated to the most advanced IT Services.
“The two companies already have a successful long-standing commercial relationship. This provides both companies the opportunity to take full benefit of this strategic collaboration and it makes me very confident in our ability to generate value for our customers and shareholders.”
The intended transaction, which has received the unanimous support of both the Atos’ and Xerox’s Boards of Directors, is subject to customary closing conditions, regulatory and antitrust approvals, and consultation, when relevant, with employee representative bodies. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2015.
More work to come for S3D! Congrats to S3D's mgmt for closing that deal with ATOS, I think this very valuable partnership is going to generate a lot of revenue in years to come.
Remember, about 10 days ago:
Atos is an international partnership with Sphere 3D
Atos is an international partnership with Sphere 3D and allows its customers a leading position in delivering innovative cloud and virtualization solutions.
The strategic alignment between Atos Sphere 3D helps customers manage their digital transformation of their overall IT strategy. The question around faster performance, better security and flexible workplaces and mobility increases. More than 30% of the business market business-critical workflow tied to legacy applications that can not be virtualized.
Sphere3D is a listed international solution provider in the field of virtualization technology and is equipped with offices in Canada and the United States. Sphere3D delivers virtualization platforms, making it possible to move all (old and new) applications of physical PCs or workstations to a virtual environment; either on location or in the cloud.
Anybody here still wonders who ATOS is???
Added some more ANY here at $5.30 in the last 5 min as I felt the manipulation was a little to obvious....look to the current price here at IHUB, I'm already making some profit LOL
Keeping some powder here for in case the short intends to trample us a bit more.
macnqueso, that's some interesting information, showing how fast a company can grow once it has build it foundation.
There is another truly inspiring story, have a look to this new video about Nutanix - The First Five Years and Beyond
Then consider that a fast growing Nutanix basically offers VDI + storage in the form of hyperconverged appliances and software defined storage and does it with sleek marketing and in apparently well organized manner.
Sphere3D with V3 is capable to offer what Nutanix offers but now after completion of the merger S3D has a much richer pallet of products and solutions to respond to customers' needs for VDI, Containerized Application ubiquitous delivery, Storage and Data Analytics.
I bet you 2015 is going to become real interesting!
With regards to the recent employment of Craig Fisher

Sphere 3D lets you integrate virtual applications, virtual desktops and storage into a single workflow, allowing organizations to implement a combination of strategies to the public cloud, private or hybrid. Infrastructure solutions for converged V3 3D Sphere include appliances in the world specializing in virtualization and management software for VDI Desktop Cloud Orchestrator. Overland Storage and Tandberg Data offers an integrated range of technologies and services for data storage primary, nearline, offline and archived
Remember this article posted here earlier and connect some dots: http://virtualizationreview.com/articles/2014/12/12/storage-virtualization-in-the-cloud.aspx
It's quite obvious from the article on the Italian website that S3D is strongly promoting the V50, V100 and V200 bundles in Italy including the OVRL TANDBERG Storage solutions.
Thanks Donk! Some great logical analyses...
Mac, thanks for your fantastic messages.
We all need to stay calm and rational, let's not get dragged by an emotional roller coaster. On paper, all longs have lost money in yesterday's trading but I remain convinced that in the case of S3D, at this stage, you only loose money if you capitulate to the short's game and pressure.
Give the company some time to execute!
And nibble a little more while you are given the opportunity.
Donk, well said, this undeniably proves Cyrus' confidence in Sphere 3D!
Very inspiring!
Above all I keep a long term vision here, whatever fluctuation we will see in the next days!
No, not absurd at all, I also expect to see some initial shenanigans to play with the psyche of the retail investors.
Justfactsmam, now that delisting from the TSXv is near, I think your earlier post is of essence:
Could you answer this question? Exactly how many days can the lender and exchange give to the shorts to return those shares (naked or otherwise) and is it be possible for the short to return ANY Nasdaq shares instead of ANY TSXv shares? If yes, the short covering would lead less to an immediate squeeze but allow the short to cover over a longer time period. In either case a positive for us!
ahagelthrope, I have no idea, you may ask S3D's mgmt.
Indeed Donk! I also want to express my thanks here to the mgmt for listening to shareholders and the great work performed by the team!
In the past trading session the manipulation was obvious and blatant. In the first 1 1/2 hour of trading I took multiple screenshots that show how manipulation was done with small volume on the TSXv Toronto exchange while there was clear volume buying on the Nasdaq. And looking to the tape now I can see several lots of 100 shares were dumped at 6.90 CAD while the VWAP on Nasdaq was around $6.30 USD equivalent to $7.22 CAD.
I was ready to send the screenshots and info out to authorities and S3D mgmt but that will no longer be necessary...
