MedApps CEO Testifies Before House Committee on Monitoring Rural Patients
Through Innovative Wireless Technology Solutions
Washington, DC - June 24, 2010 - MedApps CEO, Kent Dicks, was called on by the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs, Subcommittee on Health, to join a panel selected to give testimonies on how remote patient monitoring solutions, like the MedApps System, can help provide better care to patients living in rural areas, as many veterans do today.
Mr. Dicks' testimony described how the VA could potentially extend its capacity for remote monitoring on a daily basis from 35,000 patients currently to over 100,000 patients through the use of innovative mobile medical technology. In explaining how the MedApps HealthPAL technology works, he showed its unique ability to connect patients with their doctors and electronic health records (EHRs). Through this technology, caregivers can manage patients' health daily from a distance, while patients can send their readings without having to press any buttons on the HealthPAL.
Mr. Dicks concluded his testimony by urging the House to consider the immediate need for implementing wireless technology solutions on a widespread basis.
"Wireless mobile technology is available today, but robust mobile networks need to start right away to bring care to where it is so desperately needed," Mr. Dicks said. "The VA and the country as a whole could save a significant amount of time, money and natural resources by using mobile wireless enabled medical technology."
