Golden crosses for 3/2/11...be careful with doji on ROIAK and the large upside gap in SONS. I am still compiling tons of research on my new 8x34 EMA scan and will present it soon, hopefully.

I am currently doing some EMA 8x34 crosses back research and the very early findings are quite powerful. This is even more powerful than the golden crosses thus far, but I don't want to get too far ahead of myself right now until the initial research is complete.
My aim is to have something more concrete by tomorrow evening, so stay tuned.
I believe you will like the results if they hold true to the early findings.
Special thanks to Tony Church who introduced me to this powerful indicator.

USAT - hangman candlestick forming on today's chart. Be careful with this one over the next few days. Of course candles are never 100% right, but I'd keep an eye on it very closely.
~Boochy
If USAT can hold that 38% retracement support level around 2, it will probably bounce higher. If it can't, look for it to dip further and possibly trade back to the 1.60 level.

Q1 sales to ease, but full year to stay strong - analyst
* Larger TSMC expected to outpace UMC (Recasts to combine TSMC, UMC sales, adds analyst comment)
By Clare Jim
TAIPEI, Feb 10 (Reuters) - TSMC (2330.TW) and UMC (2303.TW), the world's top two contract chipmakers, posted growth in sales for the first month of 2011, riding on a boom in new electronic products including smartphones and tablet computers.
Analysts, however, said sales growth would likely ease in the next two months after the year-end holiday season, although Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd (TSMC) (TSM.N) was expected to further outpace smaller United Microelectronics Corp (UMC) (UMC.N) on strength in new orders.
"The January figures show first-quarter sales will be in line with company guidances, which is slightly lower than the fourth quarter of last year," said KGI Securities analyst Ricky Liu.
For the whole of 2011, Liu said TSMC and UMC would benefit from strong fundamentals and chip demand although new orders at TSMC would outpace UMC because it had bigger clients, such as U.S. chipmaker Broadcom Corp (BRCM.O).
Greater economies of scale and a wider customer base also offer TSMC fatter margins than smaller competitors such as UMC and Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC) (0981.HK).
TSMC said on Thursday that January sales rose 18 percent from a year earlier, while UMC reported an 11 percent rise. The growth rates at both companies were up from the previous month, representing a rising trend.
TSMC posted unconsolidated sales of T$34.42 billion ($1.20 billion) last month, compared with T$29.16 billion a year earlier and December's T$33.75 billion.
UMC reported sales of T$9.525 billion in January, compared with T$8.60 billion in January 2010 and December's T$10.178 billion.
Last month, the two companies said they expected slower sales in the first quarter compared with the previous quarter after the year-end holiday season. [ID:nTOE70O020][ID:nTOE70N02Z]
Shares of TSMC and UMC have risen 1.4 percent and 2.1 percent respectively this year as investors bet on growing chip demand. The main TAIEX share index .TWII is down 1.5 percent this year.
However, semiconductor shares face downward pressure, with a rising Taiwan dollar casting a shadow over their earnings outlook. The currency TWD=TP rose to a 13-year high on Wednesday.
TSMC closed down 2.4 percent on Thursday, outpacing the TAIEX's 1.9 percent fall, while UMC fell 2.1 percent.

BWEN chart has a double bottom with the second leg down not coming down to the same level as the first leg. This is usually a good chart formation (lower lows and higher highs). Class action suit may spook some people, but it's rare that those things are proven anyway. I wouldn't but it until you see how the investors take the news of the class action suit. I don't like that it has already ran up nearly 1/6th of it's value over the past 2 days alone. If the market ignores the class action suit on Monday, this may be good for a swing play to the 2.50 area or higher.
With the government push to lower our reliance on fossil fuels, wind energy may take more of an important role. Personally, I don't think wind energy will ever be profitable enough on its own without government subsidies of some sort. Long term I'd stay away from the entire sector.
The chart for BWEN does look to be in a better position than APWR at this moment. Those rising "W" formations can be powerful, but the chart could get blown up if anything comes out of the class action suit.
Good article came out Feb 4th about wind energy prospects for 2011 already showing more promise than all of 2010.
February 4, 2011, SAN DIEGO, (Coal Geology) The U.S. Wind Power industry appears to be entering a phase of sustained recovery after a subdued 2010. Today, in only the second month of the new year, more wind parks are under construction than in all of 2010 – 5.6 GW of additional capacity – equivalent to about 3000 new wind turbines.
Electricity generated by wind is cost-competitive with natural gas now, according to Elizabeth Salerno, the director of industry data and analysis for the American Wind Energy Association.
“We expect that utilities will move to lock in more wind contracts, given the cost-competitive nature of wind in today’s market,” Ms. Salerno stated.
Wind energy stocks took an average 37% haircut in 2010, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance. But, with a recovery well underway, bargain hunting investors have shown renewed interest in the sector – and the improved performance has exceeded expectations.
Exchange traded funds trading on the NYSE, such as PowerShares WilderHill Clean Energy Portfolio (NYSE: PBW) and PowerShares Global Wind Energy Portfolio (NYSE: PWND) are performing well.
Even micro-cap wind companies such as Nacel Energy (OTC Bulletin Board: NCEN) and Crownbutte Wind Power (OTC Bulletin Board: CBWP) are showing new signs of life. After dropping to historical lows late in 2010, both stocks are trading up this year and the companies recently announced they were combining some operations.
More traditional ways to participate in the growth of the wind sector include turbine suppliers like GE (NYSE: GE) and carbon fibre maker (used in turbine blades) Zoltek (Nasdaq: ZOLT).
I trade purely on charts and technicals and look for short term swings of 10-25%, and dont tend to pay much attention to financials.

UMC - ninjatrader chart with fib lines and potential gains. UMC nearly had a dragonfly doji on Friday. It missed by 2c, which if you understand what a dragonfly doji is, (see below for definition) you will see that the concept holds true to form as if it were a dragonfly doji.
If the image is difficult to see, you can check out the image and short write-up on my blog UMC Fibonacci Analysis Here!
The first recent long leg up in the stock price took the stock from 2.60 to 3.60. The stock has since pulled back and bounced nicely off the 62% fibonacci line near 2.97 for 2 consecutive days, the last of which it formed a near dragonfly doji candlestick. Read below for the definition of a dragonfly doji and you will see the reason why I took a small position in the stock.
This should hopefully signal a reversal with the stock moving higher over the next few weeks. I anticipate a move of at least 10% - 20% based purely off the stock's technicals. I am going to investigate further about the fundamentals of the company, but I did take a starter position in the stock just before the close of the bell on Friday.
Dragon fly doji form when the open, high and close are equal and the low creates a long lower shadow. The resulting candlestick looks like a "T" with a long lower shadow and no upper shadow. Dragon fly doji indicate that sellers dominated trading and drove prices lower during the session. By the end of the session, buyers resurfaced and pushed prices back to the opening level and the session high.
The reversal implications of a dragon fly doji depend on previous price action and future confirmation. The long lower shadow provides evidence of buying pressure, but the low indicates that plenty of sellers still loom. After a long downtrend, long black candlestick, or at support, a dragon fly doji could signal a potential bullish reversal or bottom. After a long uptrend, long white candlestick or at resistance, the long lower shadow could foreshadow a potential bearish reversal or top. Bearish or bullish confirmation is required for both situations.
This is strictly my opinion, and I hope you will do your own due diligence before considering purchasing this stock. Do not invest solely on my opinion as I am never 100% right, I just like to think I am always right :).
Enjoy your weekend!

Hey AF,
What do you think of UMC? I noticed you had on one of your scans. Trying to form a dragonfly doji or hammer today.
Think this can reverse. It hit near the 62% fib retracement level today and bounced to near it's high of the day.

UMC - Hammer or possible dragonfly doji candlestick shaping up on the chart for today. May be a good time to hop in for a reversal.
May want to take a look at this one.

Golden crosses for 2/10/11...LVLT hits the list. Link back for additional crosses. One thing I have noticed while pulling golden crosses, it appears that they do not work as well if the cross occurs in a downtrend as compared to when the stock is in an uptrend. Just compare the first 2 golden crosses below and you will see what I mean. BRCD had a prior golden cross in early November while it was downtrending. It subsequently fell in price from 6.20 to 4.90 after the cross.
Compare it to the LVLT golden cross which just hit, where the stock is clearly in an uptrend. In my experience the uptrending ones work out much better, but nothing is ever 100% so time will be the ultimately deciding factor.
As for the more recent golden cross in BRCD, I would wait to make sure that the pullback from 6.2 to 5.65 has indeed reversed before purchasing it. The daily candle looks ok for today, but it takes more than 1 data point to establish a trend.

TGC - it appears it could very well re-trace it's entire gain from 0.60 to 1.00. It's currently trading between 0.65 and 0.70 today. If it falls through 0.60 it is likely going to 0.45.
