"renewed interest from investors"???
At least it is a post that is not about trivial statistics.
I am going to cherish this moment. We agree. hahaha
I don't worry about Dr. Lewis's self promotional efforts that much really. His goats will be quickly forgotten and the media will have something legitimate and of substance to sink it's teeth into when that first PR is released by Kraig Biocraft regarding the commercialization of Monster Silk, not to mention whats coming down the pipeline with Gen2 and zinc fingers. Randy knows his days in the spotlight are numbered so he is making hay while the sun is shining on his goats. Without his efforts and Kim's insight to coordinate his work in the beginning KBLB would not be on the threshold of greatness. So I too cut him some slack.
http://saypeople.com/2012/01/03/spider-silk-obtained-from-genetically-engineered-silkworm/#axzz1xDbF0M57 Here is a blog from earlier this year. There is interest all over the world in what KBLB is doing.
Question:
Will KBLB one day become a transnational corporation as described in Henry Wendt's book, Global Embrace - Corporate Challenges In A Transnational World?
It may take years but I vote: YES

Go KBLB
Thanks to EC, Zinc and Mike for today's informative posts.
"Don't Dream It.... Be It"
Dr. Frankenferter
Go KBLB
Thank you for those sobering comments.
However, it was just a dream. We all know that the little pink moths with red eyes can't fly.
And remember the line of the great Bob Dylan: Them old dreams is just in your head.
Never the less, I think KBLB will be a success and anyone holding lots of shares at today's prices will find that they have made phenomenal returns as we hit milestones in the future.
Last night I had a dream about Kraig Biocraft. In the second part of the dream I could see nothing but a continuous sea of Monster Silk Silkworms reproducing exponentially and little pink moths with red gleaming eyes filling the blue sky smiling and dropping $100 bills like an old time New York City ticker tape parade. The beginning of the dream went something like this:
"What month does the commercial deal get PR'd. in your opinion."
My man shoon, you did not ask me but I say June or July.
Good job staying on top of this EC.
He obviously has done no detailed research on the science. Just a quick look at the chart.
Have you asked Dr. Bogdanove if he is familiar with the work that KBLB is doing with ZFNs in silkworms and if he thinks that they will be successful in achieving 100% spider silk or something close that could be used in commercial applications on a large scale? Just two flights of stairs and we will know. hahaha Thanx
It's good to hear your positive attitude given your background and have you as an investor in KBLB. I hope you will be posting more frequently with opinions. Can you say what University you are with?
Yes Mike we really have no choice but to ultimately rely on IP protection. Making piracy extremely difficult is a must but there is an inevitability factor. I think I remember reading that the Chinese had silk production under complete control with penalties of death for smugglers and this worked for a long time. The cat was out of the bag however when a foreign traveler concealed eggs in a hollow walking cane and left the country to begin the industry in Europe.
I do not know how the security question will be addressed. We may be relying on the very strong patents that are in place or there may be a solution that none of us are seeing at this point. One thing I can not see happening is KBLB doing it all in house on a commercial scale up to the spun fiber stage or even shipping massive quantities of cocoons to a partner. KBLB's core competency is genetic engineering and advancement of this science in silkworms. Raising silkworms is an agricultural process and the infrastructure is not in this country. To attempt this here would be very time consuming and distracting. I think our partner actually doing the grunt work of mass production of cocoons will be in the East or affiliated with a transnational company who we make the Monster Silk deal with.
Nice open. Let's see volume
Carry, We will have BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG news end of day on a Friday! :)
Good job guys.
I don't have time for much of anything but work these days so I'm glad you are keeping things in check.
Good question.
Glad you are here Mike.
And to think it all started here... "peas"
Nice post ray.
I feel the same way.
That may be the case and you and ray are probably right but I don't think the NC people would have any spider silk produced by silkworms to actually ask the Textile Technology Center to weave with their specialty equipment. Who would have spider / silkworm silk that they may need samples made from? I am not saying it is absolutely so but KBLB is my best guess. Just keeping an open mind to the possibility and not "believing everything I read".
You believe whatever you like ray...

Spider silk
"Now that scientists have genetically modified silkworms, those prolific thread producers, to make threads as strong as spider silk, there’s plenty for everyone. That means spinning garments that are, by weight, ten times stronger than Kevlar. Or – looking at it the other way around – we could soon have thin jumpers that can withstand gunshots. Finally the, ahem, weigh-up between heavy armour and agility won’t be a factor as police and soldiers can remain light and flexible with armour strong enough to withstand a stabbing or close-range shotgun blast. Predictably, we're waiting for the version in Spider-Man red and blue."
------------------------------------------------
"This year they worked with a company mixing up the genes of spider and silkworm to create a super-strong spider silk."

That was a very artistic PM Mikey that you sent to me depicting Randy's goats and the end result of that company. You should share it with the board. I was about to but realized that posting a PM may be against the rules. You are a man of many talents. Good one! Go KBLB
Utterly disgusting. :)
Another great post Zinc. Thank you for your efforts.
Yes es1. I really like this part.

Conducting and semiconducting fibers could be readily woven into fabrics to make so-called smart textiles, such as shirts that could sense temperature or other environmental changes. Combining the Florida State research with efforts under way elsewhere to create spider silk artificially might allow engineers to mass-produce fibers with tunable electrical properties, Steven says.

jb2, We are all "tryin to reason" this thing out in our own ways. I think we look at it differently but most of us see the amazing potential and that's why we are here. Here is "another reason to go for me". http://spectrum.ieee.org/semiconductors/materials/spider-silk-weaves-new-path-for-electronics There are some real struggles on the way. "And the Wino and I know the pains of backbustin',
Like the farmer knows the pain of his pick-up
truck rustin'." In the end when Gen3 is a success we will look back at the ride and it may not seem so bad. "And the Wino and I know the joys of the ocean,
Like a boy knows the joys of his milkshake
in motion.
It's a strange situation, a wild occupation,
Living my life like a song."

Spider men: The dragline silk of garden spiders continues to baffle materials scientists who would really like to imitate it. Part of the problem is that about 10% of the spider’s silk is ordered, and 90% is disordered. Researchers from Argonne National Lab looked at the disordered portion for clues, PhysOrg reported, “untangling the mysteries of spider silk.” The “amorphous regions are made up of all these proteins that are incredibly complicated,” one researcher said. Another remarked, “When it comes to silks, humans are just so far behind nature in terms of the quality of the materials that we can produce.” ….
------------------
So, KBLB does not need to know exactly how nature does it. KBLB just needs to be able to make nature do it. And we will with the platform worm!
I have been using this on the comment sections at the end of various articles that I find on the net about anything to do with the science or fashion of silk and spider silk. I don't think it is fluffy or blatant pumping. Just the facts mam. Use it and add to it if you like.

Here are links to the future of material science. A company call Kraig Biocraft is leading the way using transgenic silkworms to produce spider silk in commercial quantities.

To me it looks like Kim is on the verge of making money with Gen1 with the first deal and that will set up long term stability for future success of products in the pipeline. IMO Kraig Biocraft is now in the best position the company has ever been in and the next steps could be monumental. I think we have found a bottom in the .06 to .07 range and that the price will slowly drift up in anticipation and then explode to a new level on news. If you have been waiting to start a stock position, this is a good time to do it (imo). Continued accumulation at these levels will be rewarded in a big way. Of course the option of waiting for the news of a MS deal to buy in will make you money as well. Just not as much.
